We originally tried visiting at the beginning of the pandemic, but, they were closed. We ended visiting again in November 2020. This time they were opened with COVID protocols in place. These are among the best cookies ever. Every one we tried was delicious and let me say that they are very generous with the samples. We ended up buying the Cocoa and the brown butter shortbread's. However, the earl gray cookies were also delicious. They cost about a dollar cookie, but if you hide them from your family and enjoy them yourself they are definitely worth the price. Nice little bakery in downtown. Due to covid, you are not allowed to roam around the store. There's a station set up right by the entrance with plastic shields. Luckily, they have samples available for you to try. Their cookies are shortbreads. So if you don't like shortbread, you will probably not like this place. One thing I did not like is the texture of the cookie. It tasted like I was eating straight up sugar. But the flavors are good and you kind of get used to the texture. read more

We heard so much hype about these cookies that we knew we couldn't miss it on our first trip to Paso Robles. I also was under the impression that these cookies were essentially shortbread, and my son fancies himself a bit of a shortbread connoisseur. The shop looked very nice and their employee was very friendly. But I have to say that four out of five of us were really disappointed by these cookies. They are a little heavy on the salt, and very flour-forward (first time I've ever used that phrase!). The way they crumbled in my mouth was rather unpleasant. They all reminded me of those big antacid tablets once you've chewed them and are trying to swallow all that dryness. The gluten-free mint cocoa cookies were especially reminiscent of that. And my son declared them to be like "tasty sand". Because we seem to be in the minority, if you haven't tried them I certainly wouldn't recommend against them. But maybe try a sample first! read more

This place is definitely Shortbread Butter Cookie Central. I tried a few samples of their delicious flavored combinations, but in the end, I still went for one of my favorites, the almond and butter short breads. The cookies are a little on the pricey side, but they sure are dam good. At $3.75, I bought a pack of the original Brown Butter Sea Salt Almond cookies. Only three cookie came in the package so I had to savor them. The cookies were semi dense and on the crumbly side and packed with delicious almond and butter flavor. I like that the cookies even had a mild buttery texture and a hint a salt towards the end. They are sensitive in that they break apart easy, so take care when you transport them. There is some seating inside, but you can take them across the street to the park to enjoy. However, It would be great if they had an espresso bar inside this place with some more seating. Walking downtown Paso Robles and I saw this beauty on the corner. I'm a total fan! Brown Butter Cookies has a great story behind it. Just walk in and ask, they were so happy to tell me their beginnings. It's very cute sure front, nothing too fancy and the focus is their cookies. Love that I was able to try all the flavors. They were very friendly, offered tasting if these amazingly great cookies. I bought some for myself and some for my friends, which I really wanted to keep for myself. Bit yes I shared... I loved their original and their gluten free chocolate mint cookies. A dash of salt does so much for flavors. Oh don't get me wrong, I bought every flavor, they are a little pricey but the cookies are so worth it. Give them a try. I will certainly be back for more! read more

These cookies are the BEST!!!!!! This is a good addition to the square in Paso for sure since these cookies were only found in their first store in the coastal town of Cayucos. These are not huge cookies....if they were you and your scale would soon be regretting it. They are not cheap at a dollar a piece for the half dollar round size cookies, but once you taste them you will know they are worth it. Absolutely delicious original brown butter sea salt cookies. About the size of a 1 inch thick 50-Cent piece - this is the perfect two-bite cookie; which to me, is the perfect dessert. I didn't care for the cookies but felt like we had to purchase them because we were there already. They are a dry crumbly cookie. The flavor is strong. I fell in love with these cookies on our visit to the central coast wine country last year and when I saw that they had a shop in Downtown Paso on our recent visit, I HAD to load up before going home! These cookies are some of the best EVER! If you like a sugar cookie, these will be your jam. They literally melt in your mouth - thanks to all of the butter! The most delicious cookies I have ever had. Tastes like the batter before eggs and chocolate chips, so butter and sugar! Yum! Consistency of a crumbly shortbread but still moist! We were in downtown SLO at a tasting room and happened to see this cookie shop on the corner. We rarely crave sweets, but my husband & I walked in and were amazed by the yummy tastings! I liked the cocoa cookies but we ended up buying a 6-pack of the original cookies. I believe they have sea salt in them which really adds to the overall flavor. On my way up to Gilroy I decided to stop in Paso Robles to take a break from a long drive so I bought 1 dozen coconut lime cookies for her. Brown Butter Cookies. PLEASE OPEN A STORE IN THE SILICON VALLEY! :) My significant other and I were walking around the downtown Paso Robles area after a yummy brunch at Andrea's on Pine. We walked by the this store moments after they just opened so we went in to check inside what goodies they have. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the store associates and asked us if we would like to try samples and we said, "UHHH YES PLEASE!! :)" lol the other customers in the store just laugh at us because we sounded like excited kids for cookie samples. DUH. We tried about 4 different cookie flavors: original, cocoa, cocoa mint, and espresso. My favorite? the original and espresso! What did we ended up buying? all four flavors plus we got a free cocoa mint from their promo going on. Score! The cookies were on the semi-dense + crumbly side, packed with delicious flavor of your choice and butter flavor. I love how their cookies had a mild buttery texture and a little hint of salt. Be careful when you transport them as they easily break :) There were some seats inside the store but downtown Paso Robles has benches all over and even has a park across the store if you want to enjoy eating cookies on a nice, sunny day. Today is my last day of my Paso Robles visit. I thought I bring some famous cookies (that I haven't tried) home for friends. I have been buying from them for years and always had a pleasant experience. Today i brought my 10 pound well behaved dog in with me because it was too hot to leave her in the car. I knew what i wanted so walked in grabbed the cookies and went straight to the check out counter. I was glared at and told i couldn't have my dog in the store. Not once was i greeted or welcomed.
