I called Browns 6/11/18 (at the last minute) to correct a few violations that were cited on an inspection report. The lead estimator, Ramod, arrived the next day 6/12/18 - entered/exited via a lock box - and sent us a very reasonable estimate within a few hours. He arrived on time and called/texted while he was at the property. A technician arrived the next afternoon 6/13/18 and made the necessary repairs inside/outside the single family home. My furnace went out yesterday. Quickly went on Yelp and found Browns. The reviews do not lie. They shceduled me quickly and even offered to come out that same night. I ended up choosing the next morning. Ramod called me and let me know he was going to be there at 9am. He arrived right in time. In no time he diagnosed and was able to fix the problem (bad exhaust fan motor). He explained to me that this is a very common part that needs to be replaced. After he installed it he noticed it was running really loudly. He changed out the motor to a new one and switched out a few other parts. Night and day difference. Now my house is warm once again. Jesus came out for regular maintenance check for my 16 year old furnace. I moved in to my condo two and a half years ago and haven't done any maintenance on it (I know...I know...). He was so informative and kind from the moment he looked at my Nest to when I was asking several questions and taking down a whole bunch of notes on what he found and condition of the unit. This review is way overdue as my service was in December of 2018. I had a very tricky furnace issue which was difficult to diagnose. I had NO heat in December. I called Browns and they were able to get someone out the same day. Ramod got the furnace working quickly after a cleaning and we both thought problem was solved. The next day, my furnace was again blowing cold air. I called back and another rep come out. He thought it was a complication with my Nest thermostat or faulty burners. It ended up being faulty burners. Once the burners were replaced Brown's only charged me for the parts and not the installation labor. They also did not charge me for over a week to insure that the issue was completely resolved. Ramod checked in daily via text to make sure everything was working properly. I requested Browns Heating & Cooling to provide a quote for a repair to my AC unit as my house was not maintaining the temperature the thermostat was set. The AC unit was 20 years old and the air duct in the basement is not correctly connected to the upstairs vent which does not allow proper air flow. A service technician inspected the AC unit and determined the AC unit needed to be replaced. I asked if I pay for the new AC unit, if that price would include them connecting the air duct to the vent as this is part of the air conditioning issue. The inspector said yes, it would not be a problem and it would be included. He also estimated it would take about 4 hours for installation. Based on this verbal exchange, I agreed as the price seemed reasonable. A different technician came to install the new AC unit later in the week. It took him 8 hours to install the AC unit, and he kept getting mud on my carpet, even though I gave him three sets of booties as I was in the middle of selling my house. He somehow kept losing them, and I would provide him more. After he said he was finally finished, I went to the basement and asked if he was going to fix the air duct. He said he did not have any materials to fix it. Since the installation took 4 hours longer than originally estimated, I was late for an appointment and just paid the company. I emailed the Browns Heating & Cooling's customer service a couple months later (as now the new buyers of the house want the air duct fixed), and explained the situation. I even provided the payment receipt, warranty, and picture of the issue. Browns Heating & Cooling said they will not come back to fix the air duct as it was not part of the contract. The contract is a template on DocuSign, so a verbal contract with the technician would include any added agreed upon services between two parties. The company's negligence of internal communication should not be the fault of the customer. I am very disappointed how they handled the situation and surprised their lack of empathy toward their customers. Especially, being in a highly competitive industry where customer service is very important to a company's success. I thought they were reasonably priced, but would recommend going to a different heating and air conditioning company with better customer loyalty and integrity to their verbal contracts. read more

I didn't actually get to use Browns. Someone else came out before my scheduled appointment and resolved my issue. That said, I will come back to them if I ever have another issue. I requested probably twenty quotes, and NO ONE was transparent about prices for labor or parts or timing or diagnostics. They all just said they had to come out. I was fairly certain I knew what the issue was and provided prices for parts and timing as well as the model number and year of my unit. That said, Browns was able to provide estimates that if my diagnosis was correct (it was!) the price would be approximately $xx. I've always considered AC servicemen to be shysters. This is the first time I worked with one who didn't leave that impression on me. As a lawyer, I can usually spot when someone is feeding me a line of BS, and Ramod came across to me as a straight shooter. He explained a lot of things about our unit and AC units in general that I'd not heard before. He was able to show me a thermometer placed on the duct illustrating the before service and after service temperature differential. We wanted to be sure that our heating and air condition system would be ready for this year and based on the positive reviews for Brown's Heating and Cooling we decided to try them out for the maintenance check. The gentleman who showed up was courteous and asked which was the best door to enter the house (wearing a mask of course!). He took the time to explain what he was doing and explained the details of our air conditioning system (pointed out the parts of concern). After he finished the maintenance he took the time to explain to my wife and me what he had done and the items of concern for the heating and air conditioning system (including a quote for replacement and the info on how old the original system was). He did go on to say that the heating system had more life than the air conditioning system and to recommending to start saving for the AC system in the next few years. Further, after he found that we were also in the middle of a basement restoration, he recommended that we clean the HVAC ducts and run the fan until the restoration was done.
