Now y'all know after feeding the spirit...it was time to feed the stomach! Off to Brownstone the Original Pancake Factory in Freehold we went, and BABY...they did NOT disappoint! I really wanted to understand the hype, but unfortunately this one was a miss for me. I'm honestly not sure why there are consistently such long lines to get in because, based on our experience, the food was definitely underwhelming. First, the menu is HUGE. It actually reminded me of Cheesecake Factory, you open it and there are so many options that you're not really sure what the restaurant specializes in. Yes, everything is centered around pancakes, but even within each section there are so many choices that it becomes overwhelming. Sometimes, less is more!We decided to take some of the server's recommendations and went with the Fried Oreo Cheesecake Pancakes. Unfortunately, these were just way too sweet for us and didn't live up to the hype. There was so much going on that the flavors didn't really come together for me.My daughter ordered the strawberry shake, which was absolutely massive! I will give them that, the portion was impressive. But again, it was extremely sweet, even for a milkshake.I ordered the Steak Frites and asked for my steak medium. We came here on a Sunday around 12:30pm and it was busy. There was no wait but it was always a steady stream of people. The menu is extensive, think of Cheesecake Factory menu, but not THAT big. I love the Carnival / Circus type of theming and the small carousel inside that actually works! I ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice, which is always delicious, no matter where you go. My husband and I started with the Jalapeno Poppers which were delicious and typical poppers. For my husband's entree, he got the 'CARNITAS BREAKFAST PANCAKE TACOS' which was three buttermilk pancakes stuffed with scrambled eggs, melted cheddar, pulled pork carnitas, diced tomatoes, diced red onions and shredded lettuce, drizzled with chipotle aioli. All I have to say is holy cow! That thing sounds big and it was BEYOND huge. All the tables around us were in shock. This will last at least 3 meals. I ordered one of their new items which was 'Country Biscuits and Gravy with 2 Sunny Up Eggs and 2 Sausage Patties'. You really can't go wrong with that. It was very yummy and much less intimidating than my husband's dish. We definitely do not have room for shakes or desserts. Maybe next time! Walking in felt like going to a carnival--bright, lively, and full of energy. I initially expected a simple diner, but I quickly realized it's much more; there are so many menu options that it was actually a bit overwhelming in the best way. My daughter ordered an iced vanilla latte along with a California omelette, which came with breakfast potatoes. I had a regular coffee and a croissant sandwich with bacon, ham, and cheese. They also have a great kids' menu. My granddaughter had a blueberry pancake with scrambled eggs on the side, and she absolutely loved it. Well ladies and gents back at it for the second time this week. Guess I was on a steak kick. There skirt Steak is cooked to perfection every time and seasoned very well. All honesty the steak dish my girlfriend had was so tender I could cut it with a knife. It must be luck but again in and out. Fast moving place to say the least. Gets crowded quickly on special event days like Mothers Day. We waited for nearly 90 mins. Not my choice to wait. I don't wait for food. Definitely not 90 mins.. My daughter just had to have Brownstone. The worst part of the wait was their system. They do not notify you by text or restaurant pager. They come to the door and yell out a name. If you miss hearing your name or they mispronounced your name, they pass you by. This was the first time we tried this place. It had quite an interesting motiff. A very Country Fair + Circus vibe. It had a moving carousel on display (but you couldn't ride it). It was nice and neat. We were seated immediately. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I can't complain. The food was very delicious and filling. Like a diner, there were too many items to choose from. It took awhile before we settled on what we wanted. I had the chicken sausage and cheese omelette, while my wife had the California Omelette. My eldest son got the NJ Turnpike Sandwich with home fries and my other son got the chicken and waffles Benedict. Meanwhile, my daughter opt for the French Toast with Chocolate and Strawberries + a side of bacon. The meals really hit the spot. Well worth it! Next time we go there, we'll definitely try the milk shakes. The only letdown was that the restroom area stunk. It wasn't filthy, but it reeked like urine badly. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and happy that I did. This place stays busy! I got there 1hr after it opened on a Saturday and had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated. Once seated we had good service from our waitress. I wasnt quite sure what to order, but I saw a server walking to another table with eggs benedict that looked so good, so that is what I went with. It did not disappoint! It was delicious and fulfilling. I ordered a side of homemade corned beef hash and was surprised of how large the side was. That was enough for 2 meals on its own. I took most of it home and had it the next day for breakfast. The pancakes I had was ok, wish i didn't get the walnuts in it. I was happy that they had pure maple syrup upon request. I have been to this location twice and both times were good experiences. It's gets really crowded but everyone greets you with a smile. They have a huge menu. I've only experienced breakfast however I've seen some plate pass by with lunch and looks very good. Hugh portions and kids favorites the ultimate shakes. Daughter ordered Cali Waffle Eggs Benedict, which has 3 mini waffles each topped with chicken sausage, avocado, a poached egg and drizzled with hollandaise sauce. She liked it a lot and thought it was really tasty and the waffles were crispy. Next, Hubs ordered Garden Omelet, which comes with tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, onions and peppers. The plate was chipped. He said that he was surprised at how big the order was. He thought it was fluffed up but it was actually filled with vegetables, which was all right. The Muscle man pancake wrap was very big and took up the entire plate. it had chicken sausage, egg whites and cheddar cheese wrapped in an oversized pancake. It was quite bland and not much flavor. Despite this, though, i would definitely go back and try their other menu items. It does get quite busy on the weekends with a long wait. After many great looking pictures on IG I came here for lunch to try it out. This locations has a very cute carnivalish decor, very inviting, hostess was friendly and seated us right away. The waiter was super nice and helpful in decision making for my entree with such a variety of choices. The food was very flavorful and the portions are huge, my son had a cheeseburger and fries off of the kids menu and it was enough for 2 meals. First let comment on something very positive. The service was very close to perfection. Our server was super pleasant and always asking us how everything was tasting and if we were happy. The only - 1/10th of a point is the bottle less $4 coffee hit bottom and was never asked if I needed a refill. The food was ok and could be so much better if the cooks cared. We then ordered the ferris wheel special which was a ferris wheel filled with different mini items. It also came with syringes filled with peanut butter, Nutella, blue vanilla, raspberry sauce, and caramel. For $60 it was well worth it and could feed 4-5 people. Another party ordered the Oreo cheese cake pancakes which where huge. It came with pancakes topped with fried Oreos, and cheese cake slice. We also ordered eggs as well. We could only eat about 10% of our food. I would recommend this place for certain occasions, not a regular thing. The portions are BEYOND huge and very calorie heavy but I love the concept. Between the ice cream and the caramel sauce on both large stacks- eating them will literally kill your stomach. They don't come with a side so bacon, porkrolll, and a cream cheese bagel actually come separate- very pricey. I think my meal plus the milkshake was around $65 plus tip.
