Avocado toast with eggs
Paul P.

This is a new brunch place. My family started coming here for breakfast and brunch 3 weeks after they opened and they have failed to disappoint. The food is consistently great. Their prices are very reasonable somehow. Their pancakes are so fluffy and delicious. I'm about to try the avocado toast with eggs and French toast. I'll update my review after!! I'm excited.

French toast with eggs and bacon

The food is delicious with great portions. The servers are very sweet and kind. It's a nice, quiet place. Been there twice and very happy each time. This might be my Sunday morning spot.

Our first visit was so positive that I specifically requested to sit with Nick again, and I'm so glad I did. I even brought my twin brother so we could enjoy a special birthday breakfast together, and Nick helped make it truly memorable. Nick is an outstanding waiter--friendly, attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. He made us feel welcomed from the moment we sat down and went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. His positive attitude and attention to detail really elevated the entire experience and made our birthday celebration feel extra special. Because of how wonderful this visit was, we will absolutely be back, and not just by ourselves--we'll be bringing friends and encouraging family members and others to visit as well. The Skillet Restaurant has earned lifelong customers, and Nick is a huge reason why. Highly recommend both the restaurant and asking for Nick if you want an exceptional dining experience!

We were seated immediately upon arrival (party of 4 at 11:15 on a Saturday!) and ordered a variety of menu options. Loved the variety of the menu , there was truly something for everyone's taste ! The Lemon Orange ricotta pancake was phenomenal and I love that they offer a single pancake (plain or specialty!) as a side so you can have your sweet treat post meal - more places should do this! The Fried rice under the coconut shrimp wasn't cooked super well; this was probably the most disappointing menu item. Their iced coffee can also be ordered to go; I had a black iced coffee so not much to review but the coffee itself was tasty! Loved the decor of the restaurant but it was very noisy and chaotic. Need something to absorb the noise to make for a much nicer experience. Overall definitely would return, especially if eating outside on a warmer day!

Best Soufflé Pancakes ever!…read more Now that I've actually been to Japan I can honestly say I crave these pancakes more than the ones I had overseas! These pancakes are more fluffier and eggier (I think that's a legit word, LOL), and super rich! If you don't like eggs, don't visit because there is a lot of eggy flavor. I've tried the two dominant flavors, Matcha and Strawberry, and I can't tell which one I like better. The light cream topping is better than any butter or maple syrup I've ever had. There is usually one more flavor that they change from time to time as well which I've heard is great. Going on the weekday avoids the wait. The abnormal hours of operation don't make it easy to visit but if you do you'll definitely enjoy. Book the table on Yelp!

J S Foodies is the latter, a small and cheerful outpost of Tokyo imagination where breakfast behaves like theater. I arrived with my boys and my father in law, a man celebrating another year of survival in a universe that has not yet figured out how to improve pancakes. The space is small, and the famous Kiseki pancakes take their time, about twenty to thirty minutes, as if they are being persuaded into existence rather than cooked. These Kiseki pancakes are not pancakes in the American sense. They are soufflé style creations, tall and trembling, as if gravity is only a suggestion. They arrive airy and delicate, with a gentle jiggle that suggests optimism. We ordered accordingly. I had the lemon ricotta, which tasted like sunlight had been filtered through dairy. My oldest chose matcha, green, purple and quietly sophisticated and complex. My youngest went with the original maple, a classic executed so well it made the classics feel new again. All were excellent, the sort of food that makes conversation pause because mouths are busy being grateful. My father in law ordered what I personally considered a cautious breakfast. Regular pancakes with eggs and bacon. A meal that could have been assembled in any roadside diner between here and forever. Yet even this was handled with care. The eggs were perfect, the bacon honest, the pancakes dignified. No irony, no shortcuts. Yes, the prices are a little steep. But this is not a place for routine nourishment. This is a place for occasions, for birthdays, for reminding yourself that breakfast can aspire to something like art. Five stars, because sometimes the world surprises you by getting something exactly right.

Walking in felt like going to a carnival--bright, lively, and full of energy. I initially expected a simple diner, but I quickly realized it's much more; there are so many menu options that it was actually a bit overwhelming in the best way. My daughter ordered an iced vanilla latte along with a California omelette, which came with breakfast potatoes. I had a regular coffee and a croissant sandwich with bacon, ham, and cheese. They also have a great kids' menu. My granddaughter had a blueberry pancake with scrambled eggs on the side, and she absolutely loved it. The service was fantastic--our server was very attentive throughout our visit. The ambiance was also perfect for a mid-Friday morning: lively but still comfortable. Overall, a great first visit, and I can see why my daughter enjoys coming here so often.

Definitely not 90 mins.. My daughter just had to have Brownstone. The worst part of the wait was their system. They do not notify you by text or restaurant pager. They come to the door and yell out a name. If you miss hearing your name or they mispronounced your name, they pass you by. That's crazy considering the amount of names they get and the house doesn't pronounce it correctly The food: All of our order was VERY good. Only complaint. My skirt steak was cooked well, not medium well. But it was not over cooked. Was still tender and delicious. If you can't tell by all the photos. We took a lot of food home. The waitress was really attentive. But it looked like all the staff was attentive. Not over bearing at all. Super busy place. And they only take 1st come, 1st call. But make a waiting list as it gets crowded. The seating was a little tight. And that was throughout the place. Nice menu selections. So we'll be back to try few other items. Clean restrooms which are a plus for me. DEFINITELY would recommend this place.

Our drinks (pear-licious martini and appletini) were good but filled so full that there was spillage on the bottom of the glass when they were served. I had the goat cheese poppers which were delicious, as was the apple salad that accompanied them. I also had a side - apples Brussels sprouts, butternut squash & celery root - a fabulous combination that I thoroughly enjoyed. The others in my party had a burger (too well done but ok) and rare seared tuna (yummy) with the same veggie side. For dessert, we tried 3: warm chocolate chip cookies (very good), baklava (ok), and espresso creme brûlée (good). We had espresso and coffee as well - which were both accompanied by biscotti which went home for a morning snack. Our reservation was 7p on a Thursday near Christmas. The place was packed with lots of larger parties and what appeared to be a holiday party. So it was LOUD and hard to hear each other speak. As the crowd thinned out, it got much better.

The omelette was a bit dry, and it wasn't really my favorite. The sausage was nice and snappy though. One of my friends got the eggs Benedict which she thought was alright. Desserts were shared around the table: carrot cake, cannolis and blueberry pie. The taste was a bit artificial and each dessert was very dry. Despite having a large party, the dessert was not finished. I like how there's plenty of parking in the back. I believe this diner has been open for quite some time. I'm not sure if it's bc when we came here it was a holiday weekend and it was super busy, but everything to me just was a bit subpar.

Within the small town of Englishtown, you will find the luncheonette that represents Manalapan with…read moreits omelets. Brand: 4/5 Manalapan Luncheonette has served Manalapan Township for about 50 years. It manages to retain its relevance to this very day. I will say that the Western aesthetics only fit a small diner like this for so much. Is it a Western-themed or Western-inspired eatery? I cannot say. Nonetheless, I did like the inspiration, from the square building to the menu items. I also liked the ceramic plates that come in any color, and the wall décor from the banjo to the small, quote canvases. Website: 4/5 It has a simple design, with the basic scroll from the opening image to the basic description to the Google map of Manalapan Luncheonette's location. I cannot say the brown color matches the aesthetics of the sign above the establishment. Nonetheless, it shows menus, both physical and text. It does not have an app to order meals nor have images of the menu items. I find the former more forgivable, since I do not expect a high-quality website for every eatery, but it should let potential customers know what they are ordering. Wait Time: 5/5 I experienced no interruptions or delays while awaiting my order. Ambiance: 4/5 It does have the tendency to get noisy, though it mostly comes from the corner of the establishment where the bar area is at and the television is about. I found it tolerable to sit at the opposite corner with a view of the outside. Strangely enough, I did not expect the metal chairs to be an issue, even in December, since the well-heated establishment and the well-spaced tables accommodated me. Food: 5/5 I ordered the Cowboy Jim's Omelet, which consists of three eggs, ham, peppers, onions, tomatoes, Swiss cheese, and American cheese; with sides of home fries and toast. It definitely filled me up throughout the day, with its soft yet delicate form holding together the cheese, eggs, meat, and vegetables. While the fresh vegetables gave this omelet its distinct flavor, the ham and eggs provided the robust, meaty flavor; and the cheese melted into one had the sharp taste and stringy stretch. I did think the toast had an unassuming taste, but they were outweighed by the hearty home fries. Service: 5/5 The cordial staff managed to make the experience worth it. Worth The Money?: 5/5 Since the Battle of Monmouth, the most pivotal moment in the American Revolution, took place in Manalapan Township, I would like to see the brand shift more towards that era in terms of cuisine. Despite the simple look of the website, it delivers on its promises. Referencing the website, I agree that the Manalapan Luncheonette is a hidden gem, and it offers hearty, comfort food. The website definitely matches the toned-down atmosphere of the eatery as well. The meal managed to equate to the wait time, since it clearly steamed throughout the time I ate. Throughout that time, nothing about the ambiance distracted me. I appreciate the fact that Manalapan Luncheonette encapsulates the small town charm like the rest of Englishtown. The staff practically bring that small town hospitality to every part of their jobs. As someone outside of Manalapan Township, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and explore areas that I rarely or never been to. I found myself impressed by Manalapan Luncheonette, and if I do go through Manalapan Township, I would consider it my first option. The price for the Cowboy Jim's Omelet and the experience was absolutely worth it. Rating: 5/5 Stars I can see how this eatery might last longer than 50 years, since it makes the most out of what little it has. Recommend To...
