I just moved to Wicker Park 2 weeks ago. I haven't had much to do... I went to explore the area, and I found this place! I come about three times a week to do some computer work, and listen to the awesome music they play. I LOVE the honey roobis tea they have to offer... I usually get it to stay, or to go. I went to the free yoga class they offer during the week, which was amazing. It was comfortable, and it gave me the self esteem to do more yoga around the area. The space is huge, so I don't feel I'm being surrounded by people. It's very clean, and I love writing little messages on the black board :) I suggest this place to everyone I meet in the area, because i'm overly satisfied with the people and the food! I ordered a sandwich and I didnt realize it came with a salad and I was so beyond because the pricing was reasonable! Thank you guys for offering such a welcoming place!! read more

Great chill place. I went there as an Invitation to go see Solomon Sons play live in the Art Room they have all the way in the back. The cafe part is very spacious yet cozy feel. I don't drink coffee but their pastries are good. Price is fair. Good place to check out for lunch or after work since they are open quite late. read more

OMG! so ridiculous.... first...it's NOT Gluten free, nor does it have gluten free options. The service is "oh well"attitude and SLOW. we were the only 2 in the place, ordered a club sandwich and salad that took 45 minutes. And please use gloves or at least wash or hands when handling food in front of costomers. The salad was a plate of watermelon and the sandwich was thrown together. I can't imagine that takes 45 minutes to prepare. And FYI...some people are on there lunch break on weekday afternoons...SPEED UP THE PROCESS! read more

My girlfriend and I visited here during our vacation on 3/9/2015 and 3/11/2015. We visited mainly because it was close to the place we were staying and I had gotten a $30 voucher for $20 from here on Yelp. On Monday morning when we went to use the voucher the lady behind the counter grouchily told us that the voucher had to be used all at once and the balance couldn't be put on a gift card or gift certificate. (It may have been in the fine print. If it was I hadn't read it. So that was on me.) Since we weren't sure of what all to spend it on, I just went ahead and bought our drinks and hung out. Also the smell was kinda funky. Like a combo of wet moldy coffee, sawdust and I don't know what. Granted it makes the place unique. It was kinda odd to me. Then on Wednesday morning we went back, and decided to use the certificate on ground coffee to take back home and there were 2 guys working. The guy that helped us seemed like he had been smoking a little too much of something. There were several people waiting, among which was someone making a delivery. And it took a bit for everyone to get helped. Generally speaking, if I return to visit the Bucktown/Wicker Park area again, I'll go to a different shop. read more

A very nice place! I was there earlier to set up for an art show. I tried the Old Town sandwich and it was good . The peanut butter cup smoothie was also good. Then the organizer of the show treated me to an avocado and coconut smoothie- it was refreshing. I never had an avocado smoothie before. I will back for more food options. read more

Great coffee- Sparrow Coffee, which is a local roastery in the West Loop, which is great if you enjoy supporting local businesses. The food is amazing, and it is all made fresh in the kitchen. There's free yoga on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings. Nice atmosphere, especially for studying. There's a lot of little nooks that are kind of tucked away. Awesome small coffee shop in Wicker Park that deserves to stay open! read more

Love the atmosphere of Bru, and the coffee is great. I have yet to try anything else on the menu, but it all looks really good.

They need a real person who knows how to make sandwiches! Other than that I love the place

Not a great place to get work done / study. Music is a little overbearing, proximity of kitchen is a distraction, and seating isn't the most comfortable except a couple of spots. The "rewards program" that it opts you into in order to use their wifi is annoying. read more

Went yesterday for the first time. I enjoyed so much the warmth, the decor, the live music, tea samples, neighborhood discount, kind staff member, and thoughtful offer to top-off the delicious fresh-pressed apple cider, that I don't even mind that the "DIY smoothie" was very pricey for its size, or that it didn't taste like they included the stuff I asked to be put in it. Terrific cold brew and fresh juices. This was a great place to stop, recharge ( ourselves and our phones) during a day in Chicago.

I'm taking one star away. I can no longer support businesses with a minimum purchase to use a card. It's 2016 and the service fee is the price of doing business. Just raise your price to even out the expense of the transaction. Do you realize how frustrating it is to stop in for a quick coffee and then be told I have to spend $5 to use my card? There are three coffee shops with in walking distance that do not do this. Until this policy changes I'll purchase somewhere else. read more

Brü Coffee is a neat place with great coffee, food and a cute art gallery in the back. They're famous for raw juices and organic Sparrow coffee. It has wi-fi and a printer. Cool area to get some work done. Very friendly staff. read more

I was curious to come here because someone mentioned that it was a great place to work and wasn't super croweded. This was definitely the case, so I was not disappointed there. However, I guess they started running out of ingredients in the day, so I had to pick out 3 menu items and see if they could make them or not. They had run out of strawberries, no longer do one the bagels on their menu (and don't indicate as such), and had no cream cheese. I ended up getting a bagel with hummus on it, which I could've made at home. I got one of the juice as well, which was something with pear and cayenne. Way too much cayenne, so I nearly choked when I took my first sip. They diluted it with more pear juice, but it still burned down my throat in a n unpleasant fashion. Tasty but painful. I will come again, probably earlier in the day, but my first impression was that the staff was super nice but very understocked and unprepared with regard to their menu. read more

Maybe 3.5 would be a more fair rating. This place really has the privilege to be better, good location, ample space, and decent meal options. But the sticky table is just a big turn-off when people try to have a coffee and get some work or catch-up done. It makes people question about the basic hygiene. Also on a weekday late morning, the wait for a cup of latte was 15-20 mins? Sorry, you are not THAT popular. I ended up enjoyed the latte, but for a coffee shop in Wicker Park with tons of competition 20 ft away, you can really jazz it up. All around good experience; 8am Sunday in Wicker Park. I took the suggestion of an almond milk latte from other reviews and I'm glad I did. I concur, it is the smoothest latte I have ever had. They serve Bow Truss beans (a local Chicago roaster) which I like too. read more

I am so disappointed in this place. Paid $10 for a protein smoothie with added espresso shot. Barista had child with her. Child jumping on all the furniture, yelling at times, running back and forth, throwing water on plants, singing, and sitting at my table trying to distract me. I came to study - such a bad environment!!!!!! This is not a daycare. Unfortunate experience because I just moved to the neighborhood and was looking forward to trying this place. First time back since the transition of new owners. Got a delicious cappuccino and sat in the back of house. Loving the new vibe and hearing about the upcoming events at Bru (musicians, comedians, yoga, etc). Very friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Comfy seating and space. Decent place, but I probably wouldn't come back here. I came to meet up with some friends and the whole place smelled like burned bread. I get that accidents happen, but sitting there for two hours was a bit painful. We got a pitcher of iced tea, which tasted more like water than anything. It's also really ecclectic, which I'm sure some people find charming, but to me it just looked like a cluttered mess. read more

I'm a local illustrator and regular customer at Bru. I come here to work on my art almost every day. The staff is warm and welcoming and I've made quite a few friends that work here. The food and beverages are always great and even in the busiest rush they never keep me waiting. The gallery space also gives artists the opportunity to get their work out there and Bru is the only coffee shop around that has one! 10/10 would recommend for locals and tourists alike! read more

Oh man - my wife and I stopped in for a coffee and a sandwich, and both ordered "The Bucktown" sandwich. We were quickly served sliced chicken lunch meat on a stale / crumbled piece of ciabatta. This was absolutely the worst sandwich I've had in months. The audacity that this place has to give this sandwich a name - it was worse than something you'd get on an airplane. My wife and I both quickly boxed up our awful sandwiches and left to go somewhere else for lunch. We gave our leftovers to a homeless fellow outside, and I felt bad about it. I work as a consultant - which means im either at home or in another city - either way...I've set up shop in more than my fair share of coffee houses....This place is EPIC. The coffee and food are great (made even better for me by the super cute Barista that was working the day of my visit =) - but the real treat is the atmosphere. Its a coffee shop/art gallery with both a "loud" front room with great music, great seating, and beautiful art. We wanted so badly to try this place but we were seriously disappointed when we made an online order that was cancelled at the last minute after waiting an hour for it show up. When my boyfriend called to find out what happened, the girl on the other end was totally clueless and rude. All she could tell us was "I don't know, I just got here." Gee, thanks a lot!
