"Was going to give them a four-star review, then I saw the free pretzels and the Marzen beer." This is the only Brewery in the town of Benicia. It's in an industrial area, a few miles away from downtown. There are lots of auto repair, body shops, oil refineries, and a church across the street. In other words you're completely covered: Auto Repair, beer, gas, and spiritual counseling. I couldn't help wondering how many of their customers come from the church across the way on Sunday afternoon. The bartender explained that several parties come over from the church after Sunday Services. She did not know if the pastor was one of them. I think he is. The day that I visited, they were getting ready for a huge special party with barbecue and a band. Even so, I was quickly served. To my surprise and delight they had a Marzen. It was absolutely outstanding! Actually better than Gordon Biersch. There is a small room that seats about 20 at counters when you first walk in. Then to the left is a much larger, covered garage with picnic tables. In chatting with the bartender, I learned that the beer is actually brewed in a three-car garage! I am not making this up. I don't know how they do it, but they are very successful at it. So all in all, a very pleasant visit. Nice people, nice beer, What more could you want?

First time to visit Bruegel Brewery. What an amazing experience in beer tasting experiences. My friend and I enjoyed the beer flight of 10 beers. After a wonderful tasting experience we then enjoyed a fun time of corn hole. Owner Mark and Natalee along with Tyler made my experience wonderful. "I'll be back"

The Maritime IPA was so delicious I bought 64 oz. to go!

Mark my words: these guys are headed straight to the top! Stopped in to check out Benicia's first taproom, and it didn't disappoint! Aside from having the nicest owners you could possibly imagine, their beer is incredible. My current favorite is their Maritime IPA, which has delicious citrus notes that tone down the bitterness often associated with an IPA. Since the taproom just opened, there is still some energy being put into their overall ambiance - the guys are still working on creating their vibe. What I did love is that literally EVERYTHING is an homage to our local Benicia history. Bartops milled from local cedar (at the hand of owner Mark Keller), beers named after local landmarks, even pieces of the recently replaced BHS bleachers are used for decor! I can't wait to watch this place grow and evolve into its full potential! If the quality of beer is any indicator, the Bruehol team is blazing a trail for success.

A great taproom! Pilsner was perfect summer brew. Loved the Black Ale. Good conversation. You gotta check it out. Worth the short drive.

I love this place now…read more It helps that I live only a couple blocks away from here. But man is the food good now. I feel like I've been going here at least once a month with friends and the experience is always really good. When we enter the music is always good. Usually it's some kind of oldie R&B or rock I think. This recent visit we tried the sliders for the 1st time and man were they good! They are better than the actual burger they have on the menu. The other one with the fig jam just tastes like it's trying too hard. I get that it's Benicia and the brewery is trying to be a little more upscaled but man I miss the burger they had with the Bacon Jam.

decent atmosphere. ok food. poor service (+ a bit expensive) …read more.. we ate there with a small group. service was slow to start, but we were an easy group: simple drinks and food. they brought the wrong drinks -- we said ok (drank them). the beer was mediocre. 1/3 of the food was waaaaay delayed -- we said ok. the check had to be hunted down -- we rolled our eyes at the automatic 20% gratuity added and the tiny cost (-15%) adjustment for the late food. overall the burger was ok. the patty looked pre-formed/frozen and the bun was cut poorly which made for awkward eating, but the flavors were good: brie and fig. the +$3 salad was a complete rip-off -- a handful of spring mix with vinaigrette (stick with the bagged chips). the total for me, my wife + kid was $100 which was too much for poor service and late food. i'd never purposefully go back.

It was a beautiful day, perfect for sitting outside and listening to live music. The staff was extremely helpful, answering all of our questions and even offering tastes of their beers and sours. I'm not usually a fan of sours, so I went with the Ernst Amber Ale, while my friends ordered the Cosmo Sour and the P-Wing Sour. For sours, they were surprisingly tasty. I may have to give them another chance. Street Steam Bunz was the food truck of the day, and we ordered rice bowls with bulgogi beef and chicken katsu. Both were served with fried rice, ginger, and pickled cucumbers, and everything was delicious. A great way to spend a Sunday. Five Suns and Street Steam Bunz both earn five stars from me.

Nice, casual spot to hang out. The staff is friendly and helpful, and happy to make suggestions and provide samples. Prices are actually reasonable, noticeably more so than comparable places. I had an OG Burst, and a Ghost Moon Pilsner. The pilsner was very good. RB had the Granger porter and enjoyed it. There is a food truck by the patio, from which we ordered a grilled cheese, which was good. You can also bring in outside food if you prefer. Would return for another visit next time we're in downtown Martinez.

It's been a while since I've come here pre covid. I remember coming here for at least 10 years…read more.. We came down to Benicia for the UBE festival on first Street. Unfortunately, the festival did not serve any liquor so we decided head down to the local bar before we enjoy the festival and all the food it had. We walked into the bar, and it felt like the establishment hasn't changed a bit. The ambiance is the dark speakeasy bar feeling. We sat at the bar and were greeted by a super nice bartender who made some delicious drinks! Back in the day there used to be brunch and a bigger food menu but they have stopped that. The buffet I guess was a waste and a lot of food didn't get eaten. They used to have a make your own Bloody Mary bar, but didn't see that either. The menu is on an IPad and it's nice to see the photos of what the every drink looks like. There is an assortment of drinks to choose from. This is one of the bars that actually knows how make drinks! We order a mixture of drinks, from the key lime pie martini, to the spicy jalapeño margaritas with the Tajin rim, to the delicious pear drink! These drinks were made with love! I would definitely recommend this place for drinks, during the evening they usually have a band playing. The only reason why it's not a 5 star is the old furniture... I used to love sitting on the sofas for a cozy feeling but they look pretty beat up now... just makes things look a bit dirty. Thanks for the drinks! It made the festival much better!

(This is where you the reader involuntarily snap your fingers) Yes, the decor is quirky and fun and worthy of exploring fully. The food is very pub fare with a great Prime rib special on Fridays and Saturdays. The wyfe had the prime rib and found it a bit grisly but tasted good even having to spit out bits on gristle onto her plate. I had the Steak Sandwich. Was very tasty including all the grease that dribbled down my chin. I was told it was made from leftover prime rib and one could tell it was a higher quality meat. And the 200+ beers is wonderful, all reasonably priced which was great in an era when many places are starting to price their beers $10+. I will want to the cocktails. Interestingly the bar is very high making the patrons look very short and/or heads on a long board. Did I mention the ooky vibe? Adding to the experience is the drive to get there. Lots of very windy roads with drop offs and spooky trees (did they plan that?). I found the staff incredibly friendly and helpful which contrasted to some of the reviews citing rude and vulgar behavior. Perhaps that is something I could have asked for that would underscore the true dive experience. The town is cool and quirky too. Definitely worth a look

It was pretty lively when we walked in. They're open till midnight I believe and we arrived about 10:30. It's not quite a dive bar but somewhat better. Theres two pool tables right when you walk in through the back. Theres the bar counter along one side. I think there's only one bar. Besides that, food is also served. A good crowd with locals when we arrived. Both pool tables were utilized and a line was set. Drinks, we got a couple of the Moscow mules which was informed that they only had one cups left. Guess people take them. A couple of those and beer and margaritas. They were quite nice. Kitchen was still open, so we put in for some good. Heard that their fish and chips were good so that was ordered and the fried pickles. Food didn't take long to arrive. Yes, the fish and chips were quite nice. Two big chunks of fish which was nice and flaky. Served with tater sauce and marinara. Fried pickles were ok, a little too salty for my liking but good. The place was fun.
