This place was an amazing last minute find. For years I've been going to River City Cafe the first night in town. Last night they were possibly understaffed and it just looked dirty. So my buddy and I came across Bruiser's. It was a little late and they weren't expecting the crowd they got, but my goodness, the staff/manager/owner were fantastic. There were only three of them working, the bartender/manager, the runner/owner, and the cook. Food was fantastic, and out in a timely manner. I've worked in the service industry for about ten years between bartending, bouncing, and managing and these three worked in sync so well, it blew my mind. The food was amazing. We had the queso and chips and a side of salsa for an app and it was gone fast! Lol the queso has a smokiness to it that just made it and the salsa was tangy and sweet and sooo good. I had the Oscar Burger and added bacon and my buddy had the Bruiser Burger. Both were cooked to perfection and everything was tasty. The star though, was the fries. Their fries are THE BOMB. They are crisp and tasty and even after you drown them in vinegar like I do, they are still crunchy and fantastic. I would totally come here again, and may even be back again this trip. My husband was a little apprehensive because they weren't real busy, but it was off season in the middle of the afternoon. Everyone there was very friendly. Came here at 5:30 on a Thursday night and my party of 4 was immediately seated. Everywhere else I've been this summer has had a wait so this was a pleasant surprise. Our waitress was great and the food OMG food! Everything was amazing, I had the Bruiser Burger and it was seriously one of the best burgers I've ever had. The fries were double fried, crispy and flavored perfectly. Everyone in my party ate every last morsel. We're headed home in a couple of days but planning on coming back again. Let me set the stage, about 15 of us dirty bikers walked in 10 mins after they opened told them we had to be on the road in an hour. The waiter (forgot his name) who was by himself, spits out the specials and starts taking orders right away. Brought beers back right away and started bringing burgers out about 15 mins later. Last guy got his food about 20 mins after we walked in. Short story long, service was excellent. Restaurant is very clean, outside looks like a hole in the wall, inside is a local gem. Friday night, second visit. Brought some friends, had apps and beers. My first visit was at lunchtime with my wife; we had burgers and fries which were OFF THE HOOK GOOD! Right up there with the very best burgers I've had, and the fries were damn-near perfect. We were happy to return, and to introduce some friends to the place. They had a basket of fries - just a quick bite and beers as we both had plans. The fries were excellent. My wife and I had chips and guacamole, with queso on the side. WORST. ORDER. EVER. Sorry, but the chips were slightly stale, the guacamole had clearly been sitting in a fridge all day and the queso was just a soupy, (chunky?) mess. Our server seemed very new, and we didn't want to upset her, so we ate what we could stomach and left the rest. Guys, I'll be back because your burgers are seriously to die for. I wish I could give 4.5 stars but 4 will have to do. This is the 2nd time we have gone and the burgers are really good. They have a lot of specialty burgers which I'm sure are good but my wife and I stick to the "bare knuckle". Fresh cut fries are ok. Some are crispy and some aren't and they have a touch of old bay for seasoning. Not really my thing on fries but I'm not dinging them for that since it's just my preference. They 1/2 star ding would be cuz both times we have went the burgers were a touch of pink in the middle. Even tho there was no blood coming out, if I'm not ask how I'd like my burger done... I expect it to be well done. You can still have a juicy burger with no pink. We both still ate them. Won't stop us from going back but next time I will ask for them to be well done. read more

I have been here a few times and the food has been amazing..however, when a party of 11 of us came in, the guy at the bar scoffed, acted annoyed and wouldn't allow us to put 3 tables together (which is okay in most cases but they were not busy at that time) but then charged us the large group gratuity even though we couldn't sit together. My personal family of 5 couldn't even sit together and I had to send one of my kids to another table. The guy working the bar was not nice . His attitude is going to kill this business. Absolutely awesome food and Awesome staff and service with unbeatable prices on the entire menu! And the entire menu is always available and everything is unbelievably priced (in a good way) i.e not expensive but you get the food and service of a Michelin level restaurant. I got the Bruiser (since I'm gluten free) I did without the bun or fried green tomatoes. It does have homemade pimento cheese and I got CHOW CHOW OMG!!! The fries are phenomenal (hand cut, double fried) and are a filling portion accompanying your sandwich. I was torn between a burger and the chicken and ultimately went with the Nashville Hot Chicken. The breading is unlike anything I've had before and I loved it. I would buy jars of the chow-chow topping, too. The whole thing was perfect! We had 4 kids burgers on our order and they were just the right size. We struggle at restaurants with our older kids (10 and 11) getting something filling from the kids menu. Their 1/4 lb burgers were perfect and they cleaned their plates. Our whole group left raving and insisting this restaurant was a "must-go" on our next visit. We arrived around 4:30-45 which was a good time for our group of 8. Things got busier as the time went on. For a slim (but impressive) staff, they handled their dining room well and were quick and attentive. The kids even mentioned how quickly we got our food.
