The place was lively, waiters, waitresses and well fed patrons were all about the place. I had a few moments to look over the menu when Jose arrived to take my order. Now, Jose is one of those waiters that knows your hungry and doesn't beat around the bush, Jose: Hello, something to drink? Me: No thank you. J: Are you sure? Coffee? M: Water is fine. J: You know what you'd like? And boom my order is in. I loved the interaction. Now I had time to soak in the ambiance. To say I was feeling happy is an understatement. The colors and uncomplicated decor was easy on the eyes. It helped me focus on the real star of the show... I had ordered a Skillet, no surprise there, but, I went out of the comfort zone thanks to Jose's recommendation. I got the Sweet Potato Skillet. One thing you should know is I do not like sweet potato, zero, not fried or mashed. Yet this was ridiculously delicious! Spinach, peppers, cheese, it was a great! Topped with four, cooked to my standard of perfection, over easy eggs, have to get that protein. I was a happy camper in deed! Portions were very generous, be sure to come hungry. My friend and I tried Brunch Factory for the first time, arriving around 11 a.m. on a weekday we were both off work. We were seated immediately and our server, who seemed very busy, was patient with us and checked in s few times to see if we were ready to order. When we did order, our food was served fairly quickly. I tried the citrus chicken wrap, which includes sections of mandarins inside. The flavors were good, but it might have been better if they sliced the oranges so they were better distributed and present in every bite. Regardless, the wrap was pretty good and I enjoyed the side of waffle fries. The menu also includes burgers and salads (the one my friend had was enormous and looked great), but mostly breakfast items. I'll go back sometime and probably try a salad, as I'm not a big breakfast eater! So many restaurants -- including a couple of different breakfast places -- have been in this location in recent years. I made a visit here on a Saturday morning and that place was packed with hardly any spots left in the adjacent lots. Fortunately this restaurant is so large that they were still able to accommodate the party instantly and seat us in generously sized table. As they were very busy throughout the morning, service was a bit scarce though it was quick and efficient -- without any missed items and reasonable times between drink refills. Prices are a little on the higher side for breakfast, though this might be more of a temporary phenomenon due to high egg prices. The decor inside the restaurant is nice, giving a nice bright feel inside -- like a Bob Evans but with more sunlight shining in. I tried two items on this trip. I found the bananas foster french toast to be awesome. The toast was drenched in egg batter which was very evident with each bite and had a good firmness overall with slightly crisp edged. I like the caramelization of the bananas, giving it a nice texture and unique flavor and loved the candied walnuts that added a nice crunch and extra sweetness to the dish. The caramel sauce did a good job of tying all the elements together. The oatmeal chocolate chip cookie pancakes were huge. I know one of the dangers of using oatmeal inside pancakes is that the texture can get a little gloopy and the pancakes can be fairly dry in spots as well. Brunch factory did a good job of avoiding both issues and created delicious giant pancakes with an extremely generous amount of chocolate chips on top and plenty of chocolate syrup to tie everything together. Overall, large comfortable restaurant with plenty of options and fairly good cooking. A nice breakfast option if you're in the area. After driving by the opening soon sign we were so excited to try a new brunch place in the area. I mean, breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day right? :) We came by for Brunch around 8am with some friends and the restaurant was pretty empty as they had just opened for the day. Our server seemed to have been the only one working as she was running from table to table. Although she was very patient with us she was working and talking a mile a minute. I decided to get an Oh My Omelet where I got to build it with the ingredients that I wanted, it came with a side and choice of toast or pancakes. The omelet is huge, a great portion for the price. For my side I got the home style potatoes which was a bit too greasy for my liking but it was fine with ketchup. To drink I had an orange juice, of which was very pulpy. My friends had the banana's foster French toast, and my husband had the spanish fluffy biscuits and gravy of which had the chorizo and Tex mex spices. All in all, we had a great experience. What a really good breakfast place. I got the Two eggs and bacon with potatoes and added a biscuit and honey (the meal comes with toast or a short stack of pancakes). I asked for my eggs scrambled and dry. They did not disappoint. Fluffy and fresh and dry (no oil). In other words = perfect. I normally ask for my bacon made crispy and forgot, but the three slices they give are huge and practically melts in your mouth. They also gave a healthy portion of potatoes with diced peppers and onion which were there for flavor and didn't overpower the flavor of the potatoes themselves. The biscuit was crispy on the outside and fluffy magic on the inside. I just dipped it in the honey. OMG! Yum. I may just get the biscuits and honey next time - so good. I paired all this with hot chocolate that they made with loving care. Delicious and not rich. By the way, the "short stack" of pancakes are three large saucer sized pancakes. But, they hadn't actually cleared our table, so we got to stand and watch them bus and clean. But they brought four people to do it, and the manager checked to make sure all the details were covered, so ok! While waiting, I looked around. The place is bright, clean, white walls, black accents, view of a pond, looks nice! Then we sit down. OMG, this chair is uncomfortable. My wife says "this chair is terrible". Our friend says "isn't it?". Our daughter says "can we get different chairs?", So it wasn't just my fat butt that was the problem. But there are no other chairs. So we look at the menu. All the usual, omelettes, skillets, benedicts. Hey, they have chicken and pancakes, as tacos, fun! Wait... with sour cream and Mexican cheese? Ok, guess we can try that. Ooh, biscuits! It was a puzzle, but the fork worked well enough. All of the food was pretty good, except the potatoes, which were dry and kinda blah. Then we get the check. It was high, as we expected from the biscuits, and then there was a 20% service fee. I wasn't really expecting that for a party of six. But we were planning to tip that much anyway, so no biggie. So, the Brunch Factory came with a lot of big pluses. And just as many significant minuses. It all adds up to not quite being worth the drive to Riverwoods. My husband and I went to the Brunch Factory - Riverwoods after a friend recommended it. When we drove up I got nervous because the parking lot was full right around noon. Always a good sign for a restaurant, but a bad sign if you're hangry! I went into put our names in for a table while my husband parked the car. My fears were put to rest as we were able to get a table right away. While the restaurant always seemed to be near capacity, I never saw a line waiting for a table. Once seated, we were given menus that were wrinkled and torn (either that or someone got hungry while waiting and snacked on a corner of the menu). The restaurant is very busy as evidenced by the fact that we only saw our server three times and each time was very short. The service was fine, not stellar, but I have no complaints about it (unlike the table behind us who we could hear constantly complain about not having things). The food here is amazing. I ordered the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Pancakes (oats in our batter with chocolate chips, and topped with chocolate syrup). The pancakes were fluffy and you could taste the oats that were in the batter. The pancakes were a bit dry but the syrup and butter helped with that. My husband ordered the BFR - Bananas Foster French Toast (thick-cut toast dipped in our special egg batter, topped w/ bananas, toasted walnuts, caramel sauce). This may have been the most delicious French toast that I have ever had. The French toast had a great flavorful and crispy batter. The bananas were crisp and made excellent combination when you add the caramel sauce. I highly recommend that you make a special trip out to the Brunch Factory - Riverwoods. They had a bad day, then got rude. We were regulars, but hadn't been back for a few months. It seems that they are now trying to make the restaurant inhospitable. The chairs are uncomfortable and on the menu there a prominent notice that we need to be out in ninety minutes. That was hard to do, since it was over an hour after we arrived that we finally got our food. I needed to reach out to the hostess to get our check, and asked if they were having a bad day. She replied brusquely that indeed it was a bad day, that nobody is perfect, and walked away. At checkout, when asked by the cashier how things were, I expressed disappointment. It turned out that our waiter left at some point during our service, so it was probably a single experience, but it did mean we were waiting for a LONG time to place our orders and then to get anyone's attention once we were done to get some boxes and the check. No one also mentioned that you have to go the front to pay, so we sat there waiting for like, 10-15 minutes, until we heard a waitress telling another table to go to the front.
