A really annoying sound coming from the HVAC made it harder to relax. They have a deal where it is 10% off a service if you leave a "good Yelp or Google review". After leaving this place and taking a closer look at my hair, I'm dissatisfied with my terrible hair cut. Penny, the hair stylist cut off way too much of my hair and the layers are choppy and short in the back. It's also uneven from both side. Since my chair was turned, I couldn't see what was happening when she was cutting the back of my hair. Does not make any sense why she cut so much of these short layers, thinning out my hair and leaving it flat. As a hairstylist, you should be detailed in your work and considering once you cut off the hair, it's gone. She cut my hair like she didn't care at all what I wanted. Previous reviews also mentioned similar experience with Penny. She also took a personal call and it was an unpleasant call. She then proceeded to tell me about her personal problem which I did not need to know. I'm not interested in hearing a rant. Later on she made a phone call in the middle of cutting my hair and it was also another not so pleasant conversation. It was not an emergency call so it could have waited. Her cutting techniques were also harsh. Literally pulling on my hair as she cuts the layer and hurting my scalp. I knew this wasn't going to be good when I first sat down in her chair and she started asking me questions because she doesn't believe my hair is naturally straight. She said people say that all the time. Okay? Is that your concern if my hair is naturally straight or not? And yes, my hair is this straight. I did not like the way she spoke to me. It came off as unprofessional and also with an attitude. I showed her what I wanted and she was being argumentative at everything. I'm open to suggestions since this isn't my area of expertise but hair stylists should still respect what clients want. In the end, I did not get what I wanted and ended up with the worst haircut I have gotten. Luckily, hair grows back but my experience here left me with a bad impression of this place. Charging $75 for a haircut of this quality is beyond ridiculous. I sent the feedback survey to them but highly doubt they will reach out to rectify. read more

Well, I guess everything must come to an end. Including my relationship with this place. I've had a few Brazilian blow-outs here & my last experience left me very disappointed. The tech tried to get me to wear a pair of safety glasses that were dirty. Nope, can't make we wear that, but thanks! Half way through the process, the tech turned my chair & I noticed she was stopping a good 2 inches from my roots with the formula. I questioned her & she stated that some people are sensitive to the solution & she didn't want me to have a reaction. I know my hair/scalp & I am NOT sensitive at all. I told her to go to the root & while she got closer there was still at least an inch of untreated hair which left all of the baby hairs around my face untouched so they're curly & frizzy. I am beyond pissed, I spent over $400 buck for a half-assed job. DO NOT GET A BB here! I got one of those "how did we do" emails & wrote the above concerns. This was over a week ago & haven't heard a peep from the business. Outside of a shampoo & basic blowout, do not book anything else here. read more

Honestly, I wasn't planning to write a review but I was telling my friend the story of the worst blow-out ever and then she told me hers... come to find out, we both went to the same place & same person! I was in Houston visiting family and had to go on a work trip, so I booked an appointment to get my hair blown out prior to the trip. I was scheduled with Megan @ 5pm, the last appointment available. I went in and was the only customer, a couple other employees were there but cleaning up to leave. I explained to her how my girl back home usually blow dries my hair and she said she understood, so we went to the wash station so she could wash my hair. First of all, the chairs are not comfortable, you can't even put your legs up or I couldn't find the lever to do so and she didn't even bother to offer, and with someone with back pain this makes it truly uncomfortable. She started washing my hair and honestly before I knew it she was done, I questioned if she even washed and conditioned it, it was so fast, my hair was pretty dirty and she didn't even rub my scalp. Honestly at that point I should have known this was bad. We got to her chair and she started to section my hair and dry it. I had never seen anyone round brush dry hair like that. She wouldn't pull the brush all the way down my hair with the blow dryer, hard to explain, but it wasn't right. When I had explained hair girl back home does it, I told her that she would either pin the section up in the curl or leave the round brush in my hair. Megan used a velcro roller .... again, another red flag I should have said something. Meanwhile at this point all the other employees had now left and even the receptionist asked her to close up because she was leaving too so we were the only two people left. As she blow dried my hair and ran her through fingers her nails kept getting stuck in my hair and kept pulling, she had extremely long pointy fingernails (probably why she couldn't wash my hair correctly) and she had diamonds glued onto them and I guess they weren't done correctly because my hair kept getting stuck underneath them and getting pulled. Incredibly unprofessional. So fast forward she finishes blow drying my hair and starts taking down all the rollers, and my face said it all, I was horrified my hair was frizzy with no shape! I was mortified. I immediately started freaking out and told her, I don't like it I need you to fix this I'm going on a work trip I can't leave like this. For the next 5 minutes I would say, she stood there and didn't say a word I just kept rambling on about how unhappy I was and she made no effort to say anything or try to help. When she finally snapped out of it she said well I don't have time to wash it and redo it, which I definitely was not expecting her to do because if she couldn't do it right the first time I highly doubt she could do any better the second time. Then she told me that I should go home and wash the ends of my hair and re blow dry it, Megan sweetie if I knew how to blow dry my own hair I wouldn't have taken the time to come there. I ended up leaving and calling another Salon to see if they could take me but it was almost 7:00 p.m. on a Sunday now in most places were closed, I went home and had to flat iron my hair to at least get the frizz out. When I was telling my friend the story she said oh I have been to that Salon too and had a bad experience, what was the girl's name who did your hair and then she pulled out her receipt and it was the same girl. Now I have been to the salon one other time and I can't remember who did my hair, I remember it wasn't an amazing blowout but it was decent enough where I could walk out on the street and not look crazy. I just felt the need to write this review because if I had a bad experience, my friend had a bad experience with her then there an issue that needs to be addressed. You only have one job at this place and if you can't do that correctly then there's a bigger issue here. read more

My first experience (June 12) was amazing and the ladies that did my hair (Miryiam) and makeup (destiny) were just awesome. I was trying out this place because I had a major event in July. 2nd visit/major event (July 19). I made appointments with specific people. I even spoke with the makeup person to make sure she was available on the day and time. When confirming time, there was no mentioning that they were unavailable. I also made specific appointments based on time. My hair was done nicely however the curls did not last for my event and the lady acted like she never used a curling iron before. I feel like since I had to be done at a certain time she was not doing my hair as expected. She even made fun of the lady doing my makeup in Spanish saying that she had to be done by the time I told her. The make up was done nicely however I was not asked if I wanted pencil on under eye. I know I was in a time crunch, but my eye lashes were also coming of during my event. It was a miss for my important event. I have been a member on & off for years and they have always been very accommodating with tons of availability. Every stylist has put her unique twist on how I like my hair, some using a flat iron, some using a curling iron but 90% of the time it's perfection. The few times it hasn't lived up to standards they have done a wonderful job of making it right and really went above & beyond. I recently rejoined because Monica was wonderful and offered to show me how to use my own hot tools if I brought them in. I've also done make up there, both basic & Halloween & they are fantastic and knowledgeable. The fun movies & champagne are a plus! read more

I had been using a different blow dry bar and had a membership, but it was very hard to get in and I didn't love my hair every single time so I decided to someplace new and I found Blush and Brush. I went, and in the salon is very pretty and everybody is so nice and they told me that Brittany would be doing my hair. She was so kind and we had so much in common and she was just really personable and easy to talk to. The time just flew by. I really loved my blowout, it was so smooth and so pretty, but I just wish it had just a little less body, maybe a little more flat iron, but other than that she did a great job and I got a membership at this place based on how well she did my hair. I have been going here for several years now for two reasons the location is very convenient to me and booking an appointment online is a breeze. For it's posh location and exterior the interior has slowly been getting bad to worse. Firstly everything just looks worn down and dirty. I don't think the stylist ever dust or clean up. The chairs where you wash your hair just don't work and are the most uncomfortable to recline in. I have never tried their make up services but why would you, since it looks unhygienic and just old. The products they use are great and that is the only reason why I haven't given this place two stars. Stylist are hit or miss some are just so unprofessional but we such high turnover it is hard to find somebody to stick with. read more

My hair was a curly hair updo and it was evident that they only know how to do blow out up do's, which is fine but let the customer know that before agreeing to style it. My make up was a bit over the top. I never wear eyelashes so I know theirs an adjustment period but one of them was messed up from jump and it was clear that the artist was avoiding redoing it. In preparation for my upcoming wedding, my stepmom booked an appointment here for an updo so we could do a quick trial run of how I might want my hair on my wedding day. We had an early appointment at 10am on a Saturday and arrived maybe a few minutes late, but they were able to take me pretty immediately. A week beforehand, my little sister chopped off her locks and canceled her appointment with Brush & Blush so I was the only one scheduled to have my hair done! I wasn't having that, and luckily, they had someone available to give her a wash and blowout. They gave us a little trouble since we wanted to be seated next to each other (I don't feel this is an odd request, they must get this frequently from groups?) but they were able to address that and have us sit next to each other. Even though we did end up sitting next to each other, they had us "pointed " in opposite directions so we couldn't really talk. I wouldn't recommend this as a group or "girl-date" activity. We were offered a drink, and were provided choices of water, juice, coffee, mimosa....and you can guess which one I chose! The layout of the salon was the same as other blowdry bar types of places I've been before. It's just a big square shaped area with TVs playing movies (The Grinch, the day I was there). Since I was there for an updo I didn't get my hair washed. My stylist asked for a general idea of what I wanted and was able to execute with little direction from me. About 45 minutes later I left with a beautiful sideswept updo that I would have been happy with on my wedding day. At first I didn't love it but after a few minutes I came to love it. In terms of service, I was a little surprised that my stylist sort of checked with me that it was OK and then walked away. I expected that she would have stuck around to answer any questions or help to change/adjust things but I got the impression that it was a "it is what it is" hairstyle. I also would have appreciated any other suggestions about styling or how to get my wedding-day stylists to recreate this look, but I understand this is totally dependent on the personality of the stylist. Overall I was happy with the service and with my hairstyle. My sister was offered a second drink that never arrived. Her hairstyle "fell" just a few hours later but that's probably due to her hair type and not the products. I feel that this type of service is overpriced and therefore don't understand the "memberships" or generally doing this on any sort of regular basis.
