We scheduled a consultation and prices what I wanted out into 2 sessions and went through the steps of what she would do. My first session was a cut and dye I had asked to try and match my natural color as close as possible and she did! It was almost identical! I then we scheduled the highlights. I browsed the salon's website, but many of the independent hair stylists didn't have the online appointment system set up, so I decided to call the salon on Tuesday to see whether there were any availabilities for this upcoming Saturday. I spoke with one of the staff members who was very friendly over the phone. I asked her whether she could confirm if there were any appointments available for Saturday to accommodate a haircut and hair coloring session. She stated that since the salon works with independent hair stylists, she would send a mass text message to all the hair stylists to see who was available and she would get back to me before Saturday. I provided my contact info and she reassured me that a hair stylist would reach out to me via text. Unfortunately it's late night Friday now and I still haven't received a response. I felt I was left hanging. This review is based off the appointment service and I didn't make it far enough to experience the hair services. Melissa was great. I have very thin hair. I didn't want too much cut off and Melissa listened and accommodated me. Only about 1 inch all around. She was very gentle and caring. She made my very thin hair look like a medium head of hair. It's been 6 months since I had a haircut. I only need to go about every 12 weeks or so. Melissa agreed and we set another appt within that timeframe. No problem. I feel like Melissa had the skills that I needed for my kind of hair. I'm very pleased. First time at Brushed. Came here to follow my hair professional & colorist Triina. The Salon: Modern, Stylish & Very Clean! To quote my boyfriend, "It looks like a better Sephora." The waiting area has comfy chairs and sofa with a really pretty Christmas tree. The colors of the shop are black & white with accents of neon pink. The restroom was cute, dainty & CLEAN! No random hair care items laying around, fully stocked toilet paper , seat covers, paper towels & hand soap. When I found out my boyfriend's mom really needed to get her hair colored & cut, I decided to take her to see Triina. I've known her now for over 10 years and I've followed her to 4 salons. She's the only one I trust with my hair. I contacted her last Sunday night hoping she can squeeze us in. She cautioned that her schedule was tight due to the Christmas season, but she'll see what she can do as far as fitting us in. The very next day, she got back to me and to my surprise she was able to to make time of us Friday at 5:30pm. I was so excited! She made some calls, went above and beyond to move her schedule around and magically fit us in! So we get to the salon, Triina welcomes us with a big, warm smile. This is the first time she meeting my boyfriend's mom and she gave her the biggest hug, making her feel comfortable right away. My boyfriend's mom had about 3 inches of out grown grays. I found this salon on Yelp and decided to text Jacquelyne after seeing photos of her work. GREAT decision. I wanted to go from dark brown hair to a really light ash blonde. I did my research on the different salons around the area and asked around to see who could give me advice and be honest with me on how many sessions, cost, and time it would take, and the procedure. Jacquelyne was super nice even before I booked her, and answered all my questions via text when I sent her a photo of my old hair and my inspiration pic. This influenced me to go with her because I felt I could trust her. When I had my service done at the salon, every step of the way she made sure to explain everything to me and gave me a bunch of tips to take care of my new hair. And she was really friendly and easy to talk to! After a while I started to feel sleepy while sitting in the chair, it was comfortable. Btw I feel like the world needs to know...tips for dry shampoo: use it right after a wash instead of when you feel your hair is already dirty. The dry shampoo will already be there to prolong your hair between washes! Jacquelyne taught me that and I was like, that totally makes sense why didn't anyone tell me that before. I literally tried everything to get ahold of them before I booked online only because I wasn't going to give my credit card info before I could confirm with someone that they were open and accepting new clients. I called and left voicemails, sent messages on Instagram and Facebook, AND called and texted the stylists myself. No one answered or returned any of my messages and I did this for almost 2 weeks. I honestly don't feel like 5 stars can even do this place justice! I came in SO last minute earlier today & Jacquelyne took me in! I texted her around 11 (lol so last minute right) wondering if she could take me in as a walk in for a cut & balayage. She said she doesn't start till 3 on Tuesday's, but she came in early around 1245 just to squeeze me in! Guys, I'm forreal in LOVE with my hair. I didn't expect to love it this much.. So my hair color was an auburn (?) type of color, like dark reddish & I wanted a balayage with A LOT of blonde. I thought it was going to look off because my roots are DARK brown & I had some red & I was really just imagining a mess. But, Jacquelyne really surprised me & gave me exactly what I wanted! She was able to make my natural, the auburn color I had, and blonde mix really well! I left around 330ish and posted my new hair on my snapchat and got SO many compliments already! Jacquelyne is also really nice & she really makes conversation with you! She was educating me on balayage & taking care of my hair & you can just tell she really cares for her customers & her work. I moved back to the Bay in 2017 and I was not able to find a salon that I enjoyed. First thing when I walked in they were super nice. They usually ask for clients to make an appointment and I was a walk-in. However, they were so accommodating, they slipped me in to do a trim and a wash. I had Frances Reyes work on my hair and she was super personable. Came up to me and asked was I was looking for, made recommendations, we agreed on what we were doing and she welcomed me to the seat. We had a really nice conversation and never an awkward moment. Definitely recommend Frances as a the hair specialist if choice. She explained the products used in my hair and it made me comfortable knowing what was in it. The products they use are environmentally friendly, using recycled plastics. I needed a haircut- thought I'd try this place. I have long, thick hair that I asked to be layered but in a low-maintenance cut. Like, really really low-maintenance. I was able to get an appointment the same week I called. It was mid afternoon on a weekday to be fair, but the place was empty. The salon was inviting and nice and clean. The staff was super nice though and offered me water etc. The hair cut was ok, nothing really to complain about but also nothing to write home about. But, for the amount they charged, I was really expecting something spectacular. To be fair, this is not my usual hair salon so they didn't really know my hair etc...but I have gotten fantastic low maintenance layered hair cuts from other places for a comparable price, the only thing really low maintenance about my hair cut is that it looks really cute in a pony tail. I might still try them if I want to do color in the future though- the customer photos look really nice and I was happy with the customer service. Came into the salon at 9:00 a.m. today for an appointment. The salon is really responsive to appointment requests and they will text you with a confirmation a few days before. Overall, really positive experience. First things first, mimosas! They offer you a drink right away and it was delicious. My appointment was for a balayage with Ashley who is super friendly, easy to talk to, attentive and meticulous with her work. You can tell she has a passion for hair and color. First, she lightened my hair and washed it out in two batches so the bottom wouldn't get too light while waiting for the top to process. I love this attention to detail. Secondly, she brought out a reference book so we could be on the same page about the color. She's really honest about what will or will not look good. After, she gave a cut to freshen up the shape. I told her that I'm growing out my hair and she assured me that she's not a "butcher". She was very careful with the cut to make sure it'll grow out well. Jacquelyne is so sweet and down to earth! She rescheduled my appointment for a balayage and gave me a complementary hair mask to make up for it. I was offered a beverage right when I was sat down and they also offered to hang my coat up. The decor and state of the salon was very clean and inviting. She first cut my hair to remove the brassy ends so that there new 'do can look fresh. I explained to her how I was trying to avoid all brassy tones since my hair is naturally black. I showed her an inspo photo from Instagram of a chocolatey balayage with lots of dimension and a smooth blend with that highlighty look that I like. I knew that it would be impossible for me to go blonde in one sesh. She proceeded to do the balayage with the foils. After the toner, she applied a mask to my hair, wrapped it up in a plastic hair cap and placed me under the hooded hair dryer machine so that the warmth will open up the cuticle and my hair will absorb the mask. She washed out the product and proceeded to style my hair. The result was amazing! I will definitely be returning for a tone in the next couple of months and a second balayage session before summer time to see if we can get to a lighter blonde. First off, I'm not really a salon guy (nowhere near metrosexual enough) - but I was tired of the inconsistent hackjobs at some of the Supercut kinda places. I found Jessica at Brushed, and I'm hooked. The salon is fresh and clean, well-lit but not blinding, and very comfortable with solid choices in music (no pop music overload here). They carry a small selection of beauty and hair care products at the front of the salon in case you need to pick up anything for your new 'do. The real reason I go to Brushed is Jessica. I'm an old school kinda guy - I wouldn't know how to style my own hair if my life depended on it - would love to shave it off for convenience if my wife wouldn't kill me. With that said - I explained crudely and briefly what I was thinking, and Jessica took that and ran with it. She asked the right questions (things I hadn't thought of) and after a relaxing wash and meticulous cut - I found myself with a low-maintenance but stylish haircut. Her blending was perfect, and I'm pleased with the haircut every morning when I get ready. Brushed is a fairly new salon, but I'm sure they will do well based on the other customers' satisfaction I've seen/heard, and my own experience there. Recently I just traveled and my hair stayed straight in 87% humidity for the whole evening and I got my Brazilian done in January. Even 5 months after my styling it held :) seriously she is the best!! *** If you want someone who really cares for your hair and how you look, book with Angie. I have been going to her for about 3 years now. Never have I ever been displeased after seeing her. From coloring to my cut to my Brazilian Blowout, Angie knows everything and anything I want, better then I do. Plus she is so fun to talk to. Also if you are looking to go from super dark hair to blonde, she does it in stages so your hair is not damaged. She cares so much about how heealty everything looks :) I have literally asked her for every kind on color possible. From golden brown highlights to dark brown highlights to red-brown highlights, then all over color ...anything I have asked for she has done, and way better then imagined. And I don't know what kind of coloring she uses, but eventually when it is fading out like now, Angie knows how to apply color that my hair looks like an ombre now that it's fading and growing. I never feel like I have "roots" it just always has a nice natural blend. She always respects that I hate cutting my hair lol, and never takes off to much.
