Thank god their expanding! I like this new location. You can actually go inside somewhere and eat here even if it rains. The staff is super helpful and friendly. They even give you a tracking device so if you're standing by the condiments, they will find you and bring you your drinks and food. I love Bruxie. Since all of my friends and people that look at my order always ask what I got, I will let you all in on my not-so-secret Bruxie sandwich that I order. I get the Roasted mushrooms and goat cheese sandwich. Then, I add the sun-dried tomatoes AND I add grilled chicken (because I'm a carnivore and must have meat in everything I have). Try it, it's amazing. Also, get the creme brulee sandwich for dessert. Another plus about Bruxie is that they serve Peet's coffee which is great coffee that is a rarity down here in southern cali. The Ambiance & Decor Grade: B- This place is very nice and modern looking, but it's consistently busy, packed, and crowded. Seating is extremely limited particularly if you come with a large group. Bruxie would be ideal to visit in the summer when you can sit outside, bask in the sun, and indulge. Service Grade: A+ Everyone here is extremely friendly, they are willing to make recommendations, talk to you about their food, and they bring your food directly to you no matter where you are seating or standing. The Food Grade: B- I ordered the special of the day, Carolina Pulled Pork, and I was not impressed. The meat wasn't savory, salty, or anything worth noting. The additional barbecue sauce they provide is EXTREMELY TANGY. The waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside as it should be. The Irish Nachos had wonderful presentation, but are very serviceable at best. The waffle-cut fries were fine, the sour cream was nice, but there wasn't enough bacon and the cheese sauce they use had this strange grainy-starchy taste to it. My girlfriend ordered the Smoked Salmon and Dill Cream Cheese and that was the most enjoyable. It's extremely clean tasting, very safe, and refreshing. It was light, airy, and pleasant. The Creme Brulee dessert waffle was sweet, had strawberries, and it's a nice way to finish the whole meal. Note: I got a bite of Elizabeth S.'s Sun Dried Tomato with Goat Cheese Waffle which she added mushrooms and chicken and that was HEARTY AND INSANELY good. Conclusion & Price Grade: C+ I should have played to Bruxie's strengths and ordered something really safe like their chicken and waffle sandwich or the waffle burger. Today, I ordered the Prosciutto & Gruyere with the Bruxie Combo (meaning waffle cut fries with your meal) and the Nutella and Bananas for my brother. The Prosciutto is now one of my defaults; it is really tender, but I wish there were some vegetables with it to balance everything out. I usually get the Bruxie burger. In the past, I've tried the Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Waffle, Turkey Club, and the Reuben (Holiday special before Christmas). All were mouth-watering good (just make sure to eat it while it's hot). When it's cold, you tend to notice more just how oily the fillings are! Service was good. The servers are prompt, and the manager will help you if you have any issues with the service. For happy hour, make sure they charge you only $1 for your drink; if not, which was the case for me, the manager was able to give me a refund and apologized for the oversight. I have never tried their salads. Their Irish Nachos are good, but they aren't worth the $6.95 price tag. Their Belgium Chocolate shakes are definitely more of a deeper chocolate taste (more on a bitter side) and not the milk chocolate variety. Downside: They no longer do phone in orders. Tip: HAPPY HOUR 8am-10am M-F= $1 drinks (coffee, tea, and soda) with your meal! Although the tea itself is not refillable, they do refill your hot water; just save your tea bag, and voila! For those who need their coffee fix, yes, coffee is refillable. What I mean is that these guys have been making their "waffle is a bread" sandwiches for quite a few years, have expanded to three locations and now after my first visit should I tell them how to do business? Food: I haven't had a chance to try any of the dessert waffles yet, but I've had their savory sandwiches, which I absolutely love! Bruxie in Brea... about 4.8 miles from me can't get any better than that! Unlike the Old Town orange location this location has some of the favorites available all the time. Like the boar's head pastrami and green eggs and ham (my personal favorite and go to but w/ egg whites. Yes, I'm a weirdo about yolk.) This location is a bit bigger but still very outdoors even though it's an indoor if you've been you'll understand. You're never really eating comfortably cause you're either cold/freezing or hoping a table will open up so you don't have to stand. It's not good for big groups it's hard to sit all together. But hey aside from all that it's my favorite most amazing place I've been to yet. And I have yet to get tired of this place. And as my first review of their Orange location. I've ran into Kelly a few times here and he's still a pretty awesome guy. This place still has great customer service. The workers here remember their customers and you gotta appreciate service like that. At one visit my date and I came back 2 times in one day. Lunch and dessert with friends and the workers remembered us and we didn't have to wait in the really long line. And that same day for lunch my date and I ordered $30 worth of wafflle happiness between us, yummm-o! TIP: always save room for dessert (my fav is lemon cream with berries or anything cheesecake it's a special though but always ask they may have it) and don't order it with your meal it'll get soggy and it's not the same. I love me some belgian waffles, so eating at Bruxie was heavenly for me! Whoever came up with the idea of making sandwiches with waffles is an absolute genius. My husband and I split the Prosciutto & Gruyere and Bacon, Egg & Cheddar. Both were good, but I liked the prosciutto & gruyere a lot more. I don't know how they manage to make the waffle batter for the sandwiches so light and fluffy. It sure isn't your average run of the mill eat-with-syrup-on-a-plate type of waffle. I'm so eager to come back just to try more items on the menu. It was so hard to pick just one, everything sounded so good! They also offer a bunch of delicious sodas (or pop, or Coke, depending on which part of the country you're from). Bruxie is located in a great spot for business (Downtown Brea), but unfortunately this means that when it's busy there is little to no seating. You really have to fight tooth and nail to get a table if you plan to come around noon. Our group made the mistake of coming at 12 and the line was well out the door. Simple and sweet! I've been hearing so much about Bruxie that I knew I needed to try it at some point, so I grabbed some brunch here today with a good friend. It's such an adorable spot and great for breakfast/brunch on a nice summer day! On the corner of the street and surrounded by cute stores and a theater, Bruxie was perfect for a brunch catch up and the food was pretty yum! I don't know what but there's something about waffles that just enhances food or makes it seem that much better. Take for instance, the waffle ice cream cone. Chicken and waffles. And yes, waffle sandwiches too. I was a little apprehensive that the waffles would make it hard to eat sandwich-wise, but surprisingly no roof-of-mouth scratching and just the right amount of crisp and chew! We split the mushroom and goat cheese as well as the green eggs and ham. Although the mushroom and cheese was good, I personally liked the green eggs and ham better. Probably because I love eggs and it seemed a little more hearty. PLUS, the pesto was delicious! For dessert, we also shared a creme brulee sandwich, which is another waffle sandwich with strawberries, powdered sugar, smothered in a yummy custard filling. MMM...get this!!! The vanilla soda was a tad sweet for me but if you like cane sugar sodas, they have it here! Strawberry lemonade was a little too sweet for me. Finally checked out Bruxie after a suspenseful wait. After 30 minutes of indecisiveness, I finally whittled down my choices to five (all savory). Finally, I ordered the Roasted Mushrooms + Goat Cheese Waffle Sandwich. "The Bold Fold" - a folded, crispy-thin, light waffle sandwich, with roasted mushrooms, goat cheese evenly spread, mixed greens, and a balsamic reduction. I added some peppers and Sriracha sauce to give it the spicy tang, and it was AMAZING. Sure, mushrooms, mixed greens, and goat cheese is not extraordinary, but served on a waffle sandwich is novel and epicurious-ly exciting. My friend ordered the Irish Nachos, which I finished since he didn't like. He didn't like how the homemade cheese tasted powdery and fake. I liked the bacon bits and the sour cream sauce, but thought it could have been a bit more generous. Not even halfway through my sandwich, I already wanted to come back for more. I want to try the Prosciutto, the Smoked Salmon, the Turkey, the Pastrami... and of course the Sweet Waffle Sandwiches as well! There's always next time! I was happy to see that there was no ridiculously long line coming out of the store especially since today was one of those killer hot socal summer days. But if I was my usual self, I would've been quite annoyed to see a small-medium sized piece of chicken with a little handful of coleslaw scattered around my eggo waffle-looking waffle. No offense, the waffle seriously looked like it was one of those frozen toaster waffles. And honestly, the waffle wasn't that special. I really wish it was a denser waffle. As for the sweet bruxies (Nutella and Bananas, PB&J, etc.), these tend to be around $5-$7. Waffle fries are around $3. There are tons more menu items to check out though! They have shakes, specialty drinks, sundaes, etc. There are also seasonal bruxies available sometimes; there was one available for Christmas season that was called the Holiday bruxie. It was basically a holiday meal in a sandwich! So be sure to watch for the special menu items that show up sometimes. I love the waffle fries, and can't get enough of them. $2.95 alone or $2.50 with a combo. The bruxies I've tried are: -Buttermilk fried chicken & waffle. Pretty delicious although I feel the chicken itself is a little dry. Still enjoyed it. $6.95 -Bacon, egg, & cheddar. Simple and a quick breakfast-filled bruxie! Can't go wrong with breakfast! $6.95 -Roasted mushroom & goat cheese. Loved it! $7.95 Worth the time, worth the money. Not to mention that everything about the restaurant is tasteful. Downtown Brea is a really neat area and a place like Bruxie is the perfect compliment to a night out there. I've tried a variety of their sandwiches - the chicken and waffle is easily my favorite. One of the servers recommended the black cherry soda and it was pretty amazing. I usually scoff at the idea of paying for a soda refill, but considering the type of soda they serve and the amazing flavor, it was well worth it. And speaking of the server, the employees here are very friendly. They're helpful and they all seem to enjoy working there, which is not an easy image for businesses to portray. They're all superb - the buttermilk chicken, the hot pastrami, etc. Compared to the original in orange, this bruxie did not have the old school traditional stand feel. It has more of a restaurant feel. There's more seats and even indoor seating here. I love that you get a number buzzer here and they bring your food right out to you. The location in downtown brea is nicer and was decorated nicely for the holidays. And parking is so much more convenient and easier here!! The staff was also super nice and even compartmentalized my buttermilk chicken and waffle so it wouldn't get soggy when I took one to go for the boyfriend. The syrup and cole slaw were in little containers and the chicken and waffle in separate boxes. The to go food also came much faster than the food that I ordered to eat there with my friends. And good news, the boyfriend said that after he put the sandwich together an hour after I had bought it that it was still good and his waffle fries were still crispy. For those of you wondering if bruxie waffle sandwiches are good to go, I guess they are. Just ask them to separate everything for you. My new favorite place! First of all, I really love Brea Downtown. I fell in love with Birch Street when I used to work for Pacific Symphony and we had our first summer "Symphony in the Cities" concert there. I just think Birch street is incredibly cute and it is great that they have Bruxie right in the center of it all. I expected the waffles to be really heavy and make me full with just a few bites, but they are surprisingly pretty light! My friend and I split 2 waffles. I ordered the "Green Eggs and Ham"--and I do love them Sam I Am! And my friend ordered the chicken. I am currently pregnant and my biggest aversion has been chicken--but I loved the chicken waffle! I also was interested in a shake but only agreed to one because my friend split one with me. They served 1 shake (20 oz) to us in 2 cups and made it pretty! I can't wait to go again and try other things on the menu! Words of advice: This place is popular and gets packed quickly. Been here many times and have tried a different sandwich every time - sweet and savory alike. Got a roasted mushroom and goat cheese waffle sandwich to-go this time. It came out within 5 minutes of ordering and was delicious! The waffle was crunchy but not dry. The roasted mushrooms were seasoned amazingly and had a great texture - I want to say they were crimini shrooms. The best part of the sandwich was the flavor of the goat cheese with balsamic mushrooms - a great balance of thick, savory cheese and acidic balsamic. Topped off with bold arugula, this sandwich has flavors that are through the roof and far from safe and subtle. I woke up craving for some chicken. True I could have gone to Roscoe's for some soulful fried chicken or Dinah's for some buttered up chicken. But the thought of waffles and chicken in between them waffles is too much to ignore. Damn you Bruxie!! I have to drive almost an hour to get you in my tummy. I ordered the buttermilk and chicken pesto with their lemonade and waffle fries. The first few bites of the buttermilk chicken was great but it became boring. But the pesto chicken I could eat all day. The fries were good too, much like Carl's Jr. The outside seating was good for people watching. We skipped dessert thinking we would walk around and come back for dessert but we were running out of time. I was so looking forward to the Belgian waffle sundae. But that would be for another day. The staff was really friendly and cheerful. Price is average. Parking is abundant. I'll probably stop by the Huntington Beach branch when I visit my sis. read more

Woohoo! Bruxie is finally open!!! Today was the opening day for Bruxie and I decided to go and check it out. I got there and was surprised to see that unlike the Fatburger before it, it was a completely open space. Kinda cool, right? I decided to order the chicken and waffles Bruxie, because it was #1 on the menu. You can definitely tell that the kids who work here are brand new. So when it comes to punching your order into the computer and handing you a fancy pager with a number on it, they can be a bit clumsy, but all them are so eager to please you that they are super friendly and nice. I think I got asked how things were by everybody who worked there, so I took advantage of their hospitality and told at least one person to get me a refill on my soda (all of which are made with real cane sugar and so yummy btw), one person to bring me napkins, one to bring me hotsauce, and one person to throw my trash away. And I didn't even have to tip. I figured out why people were looking at me funny when I asked for a fork and knife...you're supposed to eat these things by folding it and eating it with your hands! But I didn't want to get my hands greasy and/or sticky...eek :P The chicken and waffle Bruxie was de-fucking-licious. Crispy waffle with a big chicken breast that's been marinated for 24 hours (that's what the lady who presumably is the owner told me) and with a coleslaw that has a hint of sweetness to it. You can also add pure maple syrup on top for $1 but I had to get back to work and couldn't die during my lunch break. Also, I love their earthchoice compostable cups. Hurray Bruxie! :) read more

Excellent place for fast, yummy American style bites! The waffles are light and crispy. I've literally tried all of them during the many visits I've had. The crispy chicken is my favorite savory waffle and the Creme brûlée is probably my favorite sweet selection. Portions are light and not overbearing. Have eaten at the Orange location many a times but came here after attending church in Fullerton. This location is bigger than the Orange location but still really crowded. I am a huge fan o bruxie! I havent tried many waffles as i aint a terribly huge fan but these waffles were honestly jus perfect or at least perfectly complimentary to the dish. Theyre perfectly crispy but not to hard. Theyre also very tender...enuf so that it works just like a sandwich. Its not even hard to enough to scratch up ur mouth like how sumtimes the french bread for the vietnamese sandwich does... I dont think u can go wrong wit anything but I would try one that involved real food and one that was sweet for dessert. This is a gem in Brea and a must try if ur a foodie in the area. read more

Can't put my finger on what's missing...but it's not a 5 star must have for me. Definitely worth checking out. Can't go wrong with the Irish nachos but eat them quickly the cheese sauce gets cold rather fast. The sodas are delicious and made from real came sugar. The custard is a must try too! read more
