    THE ORIGINAL
    Alicia W.

My friends and I were visiting Santa Barbara for a few days and were trying to grab a quick breakfast/lunch before a flight. Luckily, Bruxie was open pretty early, so we stopped by. I ordered The Original Fried Chicken and Waffle sandwich since the waiter had recommended that was one of their most popular items and made it into a combo (side of tater tots and a soda). My friends ordered the fried chicken salad and the brioche breakfast sandwich. I thought the restaurant concept was cool and uniquely centered around anything fried chicken/waffles and thought it was fun the way the waffle sandwich was presented like a taco. That being said, I initially tried to eat it like a taco but everything quickly fell apart as the waffle wasn't connected at the bottom, so resorted to just eating it like a classic chicken and waffles dish with a fork and knife. I liked the coleslaw, the crispy/lightness of the waffle, and although the food initially looked like it'd be really heavy it surprisingly wasn't and I finished the sandwich pretty quickly. I think my main issue is that there could've been more flavor/moisture to the sandwich, particularly the chicken itself. I did really like the tater tots - they were perfectly crispy, lightly seasoned, and addicting, so it was the highlight of the meal. I also tried my sister's brioche breakfast sandwich and felt that there was nothing really special to it and found it to be lacking a bit in flavor / dry. Overall, I thought the sandwich/fried chicken could've been more juicy and flavorful e.g., by adding some sauce/marinade to the sandwiches/chicken and avoiding overcooking/frying the chicken.

Beautiful, delicious and fresh tasting! Kids Mac n cheese and waffle fries were also a hit! Great service.

Had a great chicken sandwich here while my wife was shopping. Sat on the outside patio on a beautiful day watching people walk by in the mall. Chicken and waffles is their thing, but got the honey hot on a brioche bun. It was delicious! Perfect crispy chicken on the outside but moist on the inside. Excellent combination of sweet and savory and spicy with great coleslaw and pickles. $14 a sandwich, but that seems to be the going price nowadays. I would definitely come back for another.

Why a 4 stars? Give me a little bit.. Let me explain.. I ordered the kickin Nashville chicken sandwich With the waffles instead of the bun Presentation wise.. It looked like a door dasher dropped it off literally But I went to the restaurant and bought it The quality of the chicken was excellent Cooked perfectly in texture and moisture Flavor wise, there was absolutely nothing spicy Maybe my order got mixed up? The flavor was okay The waffle was standard The overall flavor of the waffles with the chicken was definitely better than a bun A first time experiencing such a thing But nothing screamed at me To say Go back again for this sandwich I'm open to trying a barbecue flavored sandwich I want to see what the difference is I also want to try their custard shake They have different flavors to choose Bruxi is new to Santa Barbara But also new to me With me just coming back to Santa Barbara It's nice to have a different food alternative I noticed they are extremely popular With teens. This location gets really packed During different times of the day The customer service is good My order was taken promptly And employees seem happy To help everyone walking through the doors They have outdoor seating Seating inside as well Conveniently located in Paseo Nuevo So plenty of parking For a short walk to bruxi I imagine when school is out They are gonna get even more busy A lot of people recommended this place to me I haven't met a person That tasted their food And didn't enjoy it A big pricey But worth a shot See you soon

I couldn't wait to try this place out once I heard it was in town. Heading out town for the evening and knowing I wasn't going to be back home before dinner, I figured yesterday would be the perfect opportunity to give it a shot. I mean who doesn't like fried chicken right! It wasn't hard to find the place because I use to have an office in the balboa bldg right next door and ate at Pizza Rev many times...it was in the location where bruxie is now. The service was great. The young lady that helped me out was very polite. The restaurant itself was pretty basic for a fast food eatery. It was clean though. Could've been worse obviously. Let's get down to the nitty gritty-- the food ! If you go wrong with fries and fried chicken-- well in my opinion you should probably not be in business. NOT THE CASE here--- both were very flavorful. The waffle was unfortunately a bit bland and basic, the Cole slaw most definitely needs something and the syrup that came with my order was "ehhh" Some basic maple syrup from Vermont could've been better. Overall I would definitely recommend giving it a try and make your own decision on how you feel about it. Would I be going back anytime REAL soon. Naw! But I will say that I will visit again if someone were to say they haven't been---I would go back with them !!

Hey my fellow Elite Yelpers I hope you're doing well and enjoying the latest warm weather! I heard about Bruxie chicken through a media release. Located in the middle of the Paseo Nuevo mall. I placed my order early, and they open at 1030am! Shortly after placing my order, the place began to get busy. The staff was organized, and the service was great. I sat at the bar, which was nice. The restaurant was well laid out, comfortable. I've been looking for a Great fried chicken spot and Bruxie fits the bill! Thanks Bruxie I will be Back. Ronnie S

    NUTELLA & BANANA or STRAWBERRIES

Very bland food. Small portions not worth the price point. The box that it comes in is cute though. The Nutella and banana waffle had a decent amount of Nutella but felt that it was gone in two bites. The breakfast burrito had a decent amount of eggs and liquid cheese. The crispy chicken added gave it some flavor but kept reaching for the salsa to add something. This food isn't quality and it reminds of food you eat after drinking back in the college days.

Food was pretty good, chicken was definitely the star of the show. Waffle and egg were pretty good as well. Personally to me It was really good but I felt like I was eating so many calories! lol I would come here again, maybe try something different. Workers were nice and the inside and outside was clean. I would rate this place a 3.5 if I could.

I was in Santa Barbara with my boyfriend over Memorial Day weekend. We stumbled upon Bruxie while we were walking around. My boyfriend said that he had been to another location before and that it was really good. We decided to share a fried chicken and waffle sandwich, it was super messy but extremely delicious! I highly recommend adding extra packets of honey, I love the sweet and savory mix! Hopefully they add another store in the SF Bay Area.

Menu - you can order a meal which includes sides, and a drink

There isn't a mouth on earth that would be able to open wide enough to eat a Bruxie's sandwich. Bruxie's is relatively new - it opened within the past month or so at Paseo Nuevo Mall. They are always pumping out chicken scents for visitors who walk by to try to lure in customers and sure enough, I'm always feeling very hungry and craving chicken and waffles when I'm passing by. So one day, I caved and ordered. You have to order at the counter and they ask for tips, even if you order to go, with the minimum of 18% unless you fumble around and take longer to check out. I ordered the spicy Tennessee Chicken Waffle sandwich and I couldn't recognize myself while ordering this kind of food. Who and what have I become? The menu is just so crazy and weird. And I think that's why they're so popular. When I finally opened the box, there was an overwhelmingly huge sandwich staring back at me. But the chicken itself is thin and the fried batter surrounding the chicken is about an inch thick. The flavor that you order is all in the batter. The food is incredibly salty. In fact, I couldn't taste the heat because I was too distracted with how salty it was. Everything is just so thick that you can't just pick it up and eat it like a sandwich. So I had no idea how I was going to eat this thing with no utensils. I ended up scraping everything off with my fingers, revealing a very thin piece of chicken in the center. This place basically serves all fried food. The waffle was light and airy. But after one bite, my stomach started cramping. I could only take a bite of the waffle because the waffle was making me even more sick. I think this will be my last time I'll ever visit, but it was fun to experiment and support a new restaurant. This is a level up of creativity beyond KFC, but it kind of is like KFC in the end - minus the creamed potato's and corn. Total cost for Bruxie's experiment: $14.50 for a sandwich with no sides. Possibly the worst $14.50 I've spent in a very long time. But, it's a bargain if you count it as novelty and entertainment.

I went for breakfast and tried the Holy Chicken with a side of syrup. I ate the entire thing! There are so many items on the menu that I want to try. I definetly need to come back mutiple times. The salad sounds good, waffle fries, the dessert waffles look good, the cold brew coffee sounds interesting.

The staff was what really made this place stand out. On our last day, I accidentally miscommunicated my order and ended up with the wrong meal. There was only one person in line and 4 staff members behind the counter standing around talking to each other. Nobody greeted us or asked for our bakery order. When I said excuse me to a dirty blond girl she replied "WHAT!" and continued to joke with a co worker. When the cashier finished with their customer they walked away and even though they saw we were waiting to be helped. I looked around and saw nobody helping seated customers or us at the bakery counter. Finally, the dirty blonde ask what we need and my response was "WHAT" ?! At this point we should have left and gone to Lilac Patisserie however we proceeded to give her our order. I told another customer behind us that rudeness seems to be the norm, and she agreed. I paid for our bakery items and asked an older woman scrolling on her phone if we could have a bag for all of our boxed treats. She grabbed a handful of bags and threw them at me from across the counter. We were appalled and left. We found a place to sit on State street to eat our treats and my daughter said she didn't want her Meringue because the dirty blonde girl used the back of her ungloved hand to repeatedly wipe her nose. We threw all $50 worth of baked goods in the trash. Yes, I should have gone back and complained I'm had everything refunded but it was Mother's Day and we didn't want anything more to do with this establishment. It was also an epiphany that they don't treat everyone this way. It could be you next time. Please go somewhere else. We will never go to anywhere but Lilac Patisserie which is to the left as you exit Andersons, past the stop light.
