Midway between Sunset Point and Sunrise Point on the Rim Trail, I followed the little "lodge" sign to get to the lodge and restaurant. The restaurant offers a buffet. We got a good hamburger that came with plenty of fries. Nice service. The lodge had some chairs in the lobby and a bathroom, so it was a nice place to wait for my husband while he finished the Figure 8 Loop hike. We came around 7pm on a Thursday in the middle of my daughter's spring break. We were seated immediately, no waiting. My husband was looking over their menu online and was hoping to have the salmon entree but upon arrival the printed menus were slightly different. When the server told us about the special of the day, and it was salmon with chimichuri sauce--he was so happy! I ordered the rainbow trout and my daughter got the quesadilla. We dined here for all three nights that we camped in the park. Each night we were met with smiles, upbeat welcomes, and great service. No matter how busy the dining got, the wait staff were efficient at getting everyone taken cared of. The rustic dining room was a perfect ambiance for national park lodge dining. On the first night, we both had the warm trail bowls. One with chicken and one with salmon. The wild rice, quinoa grains were toothsome and generous. The green chile gave it the right amount heat to make things interesting. The chicken was tender and moist. The salmon was cooked perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Night two, we had the burger with a small wedge salad sub instead of fries and the grilled rainbow trout. The wedge salad sub was an extra $5 charge, but was the perfect accompaniment to the burger. This should be a suggestion printed on the menu! The grilled rainbow trout was much bigger than I expected. It had a crispy crust and moist and tender inside. I found a few small pin bones, but no problem. I know am eating fish. The wild rice and brussel sprouts side was flavorful and yummy. We really enjoyed this meal. On our last night in the park, we splurged and shared a full size wedge salad and a 14 oz ribeye (plenty for us). We knew we'd enjoy the salad. The ribeye was perfectly cooked to our requested temp. We topped off dinner with the apple crostata. It was just the right amount of sweet to cap off a terrific dinner. We were pleased to find that they carried a non-alcoholic beer (Corona). Well, this is a rustic restaurant. Lead by Ed we had a delightful, if up and down experience. Starting off with drinks we had an Amber Ale that was full, bold, and delightful. I had an Old Fashioned that tasted like water and cheap vodka. Not what I expected. We then dug into a Brussel sprouts appetizer that was crisp, well seasoned and cooked perfectly. On to our main course. We were not too hungry, so I had a chicken quesadillas which was very tasty, but overshadowed by too many soft and flavorless onion. I went on a weekday evening right when they opened, and it was a short wait (less than 10 minutes) to be seated. Throughout the visit, all the staff I interacted with were very friendly. I got the trail bowl ($15) which is actually one of 2 vegan entree options they have. I like that their menu has options for people with different dietary preferences including gluten free options, and everything is labeled clearly, including the ingredients used. The bowl was ready in 15 minutes and unfortunately tasted bland and flavorless. It was dry and could use some kind of sauce. I don't ever expect anything great from a national park restaurant, but this was a nice surprise! After coming here for lunch, we decided to try our hand at dinner. I didn't order anything except for a bowl of chili, and I must say, this was probably the best bowl of chili I've had in my life! I could not recommend this more! I chose this after reading other Yelp reviews, pointing this entree out, and like I said, I'm incredibly happy with the choice. Ambiance wise, the seating was cozy and nice. The interior decor felt appropriate and very national Parkesque. The 4-star review comes from the service. Our waiter was very nice, but after taking our order and delivering our food, he seemed to disappear. We wanted to order dessert but ended up not doing so after waiting for our waiter to come to our table 20 minutes later. It also was incredibly annoying how difficult it was to get our bill correct. We had to tell the waiter 4 times how we wanted the bill split (we just wanted 2 bowls of chili and a salad on a separate check) but he did not understand and we finally gave up after trying so many times. Some wait staff training is definitely needed. Outside of this, stick with the chili and you will not be disappointed! Strangest seasoning I've ever had with Ahi Tuna. Menu listed Wasabi as an ingredient, but we could not detect the slightest hint. - 2.0: Penne pasta with tomato sauce, mushrooms, and mozzarela. Not bad, other than I couldn't detect any mozzarela. A small cup of powdered cheese was served with the dish, but I have not previously seen powdered mozzarela, and it didn't taste like mozzarela. - 1.5: Hot Trail Bowl. The menu didn't offer many healthier options and there was not much to choose from. I ordered a Caesar salad with hot chicken and got cold chicken. Once you are inside the National Park, it is not worth going elsewhere for a meal. The Lodge's Dining Room was a great choice for a superb lunch. Since it is just about the only place to get a decent meal, we were not surprised by the 30 minute wait. The time went quickly as we visited the lobby and looked all the interesting sites in the historic building. Once seated, we have the most fantastic and friendly server, Rebecca. She was always there when we needed her with a smile, knowing how to do her best to make our experience memorable. The menu is lengthy, from a soup and salad bar to full plates, to burgers and sandwiches. The burger was cooked perfectly and the addition of bacon made this lunch a mouthwatering delight. The area around Bryce Canyon national Park is not going to win any prize for fine dining. I have not wandered far out of Bryce Canyon city so can't comment on any of the dining establishments that are on the road leading into Bryce Canyon national Park. I decided to try the lodge because I had not had much luck with the other establishments in town. The menu is fairly varied. I decided to have the fish and chips. Just what we needed after a day of hiking. Everything we had was amazing. We started with the Brussels sprouts, ahi tuna nachos, and wings. Those sprouts were insanely good, nice and crispy, good color, but not burnt, and that ancho honey glaze is something else. I believe the server said it was a newer menu item and they should keep it. The nachos were also really good. The portion size is small, so if you have a bigger group, order more than one. Lastly, the wings were some of the crispiest chicken wings I've ever had and were still juicy on the inside. I'm usually not a fan of buffalo sauce, but getting it on the side and mixing a little in with some ranch made it pretty tasty For entrees, we ordered the ribeye, salmon, and trout. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and was nice and tender. The glaze on the salmon was amazing and was probably my favorite of the three. The fish was nice and flaky and is a nice, lighter option if you don't want to go heavy. I had a bite of the trout and it was good, but I liked the salmon more; though I will say that the one who ordered it really liked it, and he really in likes trout. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially our server Don. He answered all our questions and provided some great recommendations. The other staff was very attentive and made sure our drinks were full and took care of any plates we were done with. It was a very rustic-feeling atmosphere with the furniture and decor, which fit right in with it being at the lodge. If you have some time to look around, they have some cool information about the history of Bryce Canyon. There's also a gift shop nearby that has a few things we didn't see at the Visitor's Center gift shop. Overall, I highly recommend coming here. We stayed in the park so it's a great place to start your day with a buffet breakfast that offers eggs, sausage, bacon, potatoes, fresh fruit, assorted fresh biscuits, pastries and bagels too. There are made to order breakfast items but the buffet is easier. It includes juice and coffee as well. Lunch buffet offers a wonderful choice of soup, a variety of salads, elk chili and numerous desserts as well. If you want to order a sandwich or an entree, they are also available. read more

For a restaurant like this, I would have expected higher quality with no dehydrated bacon bits used, sliced grape cherry tomatoes and a handful of sliced olives thrown on the salad. We have visited a number of lodges within the national park system. The dining room in Brice Canyon Lodge is a real gem. Excellent service! Excellent food and a beautiful room. We had dinner here twice and lunch once during a three day weekend over the 4th of July. Every meal was near perfect. More than expected in every way. No it is not a five star resto like brunch at a Ritz Carlton. You are in a government contractor run resto in a government run lodge in a government national park. It is intended to be good but rustic like the parks. This one is a cut above the many others we have experienced and we cannot wait to go back. read more

We weren't able to book rooms at the Lodge when we were planning this trip but we did manage to stop in for lunch. When we were her several years ago, they offered both Table-service or buffet. Because of COVID, only buffet is available. There is a cold section for salad bar and a hot section for Elk Chili and about seven other hot foods. The salad bar has a good selection of options and runs $10 by itself. There was some thinly sliced ham and turkey. Take any hot food item and the price goes up to $18. We arrived at 9pm and we felt like our server was not happy to see us. We needed to asked another server to get us water, as we were parched. Our group wanted their drinks and order more food, but the only time our server came back to our table was 30 mins later to tell us "I am sorry to rush you, but do you know what dessert you want already? " lol . We then asked about the drinks our group ordered earlier and he just said " I guess I forgot huh?" No "I am sorry", nothing. BRYCE CANYON LODGE DINING So it's a little odd why nobody in the park indoors or outdoors wears masks yet they are still strict on shuttles and in the dining area. Gift shop is also still closed. They are quite serious about contactless exchange by having you order first, then giving a pager to pick up your to-go packaged food at pre-numbered tables once prepared. Note you cannot charge to the room and must pay separately. You are free to then take to go or eat at any free table. Drinks are refillable but kind of a pain because you have to find an available server to help. Food came quickly... Elk Chili Ground elk in a white bean chili garnished with shredded cheddar Jack cheese. Definitely a hearty side - great to save for midnight snack too! Queens Garden Beet salad Spring mix greens with honey Dijon vinaigrette topped with roasted red beets, mandarin oranges, blue cheese crumbles, fresh parsley, red onion rings and walnuts. A fresh and vibrant salad - I could eat this one daily. Ebenezers Rainbow Trout The most unique feature is the Almond and panko crust - a crunchy and nutty cover to the tender boneless pan-seared filet underneath. They give you on the side a deep red roasted poblano purée that has just a slight kick to it. And a generous helping of a vegetable medley rice, and a few halved Brussels sprouts here and there. Piracy Point Chicken Piccata Sautéed chicken breast topped with a creamy lemon caper sauce, served with brown rice, cauliflower and kale. Multiple entrees looked really good but a few workers recommended the trout and I was not disappointed at all. Compared to the Zion Lodge, service and food quality are head and shoulders above... Food was really good, but what made this place awful was the wait. We ended up waiting an hour for our food. They offered to compensate with 2 free desserts but it probably would've taken another hour to come out lol. What irritated me most was that they weren't honest about the wait. Most places would say "we are short staffed and there will be an hour wait" before seating us and from there we could've made the choice to dine or leave.
