Pad Hi Ma Parn (Cashew) with Chicken
    P E.

Stopped here for supper still looking for great Thai in Chester County. Some winners here and some not so much. Tom yum soup was a started for my dining partner. They enjoyed it but felt it was a little too sweet and was missing some lemon grass. We also tried the Laotian sausage. This was excellent and enjoyed - nice char, great spicing - but avoided the very spicy condiment. Sticky rice was a $3.50 up charge which I think is excessive so we passed on that. My dining partner was very pleased with the pad Thai, probably the best we have found in Chester County. I ordered the Pad Hi Ma Parn (Cashew) with chicken. I asked for not spicy - I tend to go easy when I am at a new place -I got no spice at all. The sauce was very broth. Vegetables although very fresh were not even close to crisp tender - almost raw - and the chicken was almost nonexistent. The dining room was pleasant; music was of the elevator kind and seemed to play over and over again. The waiter was fine but had limited facility of English so we just punted in a few cases. The crowd at 7 PM on a weekday was grayer than most.

Delicious! The drunken noodles was particularly delicious, and I appreciate that it wasn't very greasy. Each dish had a unique flavor profile that complemented the neighboring dishes that were crafted to perfection. We ended the night with mango sticky rice. A delicacy that was like a cherry on top. Service was courteous, and overall, the dining experience was lowkey fancy. I could tell the other guests in the restaurant are regulars, and I understand why.

    Basil chicken Fried Rice

Looked up the place in Yelp and wanted to order take out from Bualoy. Called and ordered Thai basil chicken Fried Rice, ordering process was easy and simple. Got a confirmation order that will be ready in 15 minutes. The place is in Lancaster Ave, and it is not easy to enter if you are on opposite lane. There are plenty of parking spots back and some in front. The food was ready as I walked in and was nicely packed with spoon, fork and napkin. They even offered hit oil, which was cool. Coming to the food, as I opened the box, the fried rice had nice flavor and tasted so fresh. The quantity was so filling for a lunch and big kudos for that. The vegetables mixed along with chicken were at the right balance, and basil flavor was oedfectly infused into the rice as well as chicken. The taste was delicious even without adding the hot oil, but the hot oil kicked it to the next level. If you are around, try this place, and wypu will be happy. The price I felt was a little on the high side but worth the quantity of rice and taste !!!

    Crisp and delicious!

Tried again recently. Ordered at lunchtime on the weekend. Totally on point! Prompt. Generous portions. Pad thai and curry properly cooked and well-seasoned with balanced flavors and sufficient heat (you can choose from non-spicy, mild, medium, hot and Thai hot). For those who want it, there is a vegetarian option for Pad Thai and the various curries you can order. Chicken wings w sweet Thai chili sauce a real winner. Can't give the place any better compliment other than that the food is overall quite yummy!

Takeout - Panang Curry, Golden Triangle, Pad Thai

We ordered takeout the other day for lunch, and all aspects of our visit were quite positive. To start, we checked out the menu online, which denotes gluten-free options - this is great and somewhat rare among Asian restaurants. We called in our order and mentioned that we wanted gluten-free, and a few minutes after placing it, we received a follow-up call because the chef said some of the items we'd ordered aren't gluten-free. That was a nice touch. For our lunch, we ordered Tom Kha, Panang Curry, Pad Thai, and Golden Triangle. Everything had great flavor, in particular the brown sauce for the Golden Triangle and the Tom Kha. Takeout process was pretty good and safe too - I was motioned to open the door, where the staff greeted me with a tablet in hand to process payment, and then he handed me my food. Overall a great experience of Southeast Asian flavors, with some pretty good gluten-free options!

Things will definitely get a lot busier as the season goes on. Frankly you can't really go wrong with anything here, so I just wanted to leave some best practices as someone who's iterated a few times here: - If getting skewered meat/papaya salad, just get it at whichever booth has the shortest line with what you want (and if you don't want anything in particular, just hop in the shortest line). There might be a slight difference between stands, but since it's so common, you can't really go wrong with anyone who sells. - Stir Fry Noodle Lady! Grab the chive cakes on the side too. - Skip the sugar cane and go for the simpler drinks on the menu. Passionfruit, lime honey, and things like that will be much more refreshing. - Bring a picnic blanket, as there's plenty of space to gather and eat adjacent to the booths, and you'll avoid eating on your feet all the time. Make sure to bring cash! Venmo/card is beginning to be accepted but may have a surcharge.

I see this spot in a parking lot and looked up the reviews and thought I would give it a try. I started Tom Yum soup and it was very flavorful and nice portion - I recommend the large for the price and take how the leftovers if there is any. I then had massama lm curry, and KaProw And they both had really great flavor - decent portion size not large but not small medium. So you might stumble across info for the best times to secure a walk-up reservation and they'll tell you to arrive at least by 10:30am Thursday through Saturday as Mawn opens at 11am. But let me tell you how I pulled up in front of Mawn at 10:40am on a Thursday and there was already a line of about 15 people!! Mind you, these people have PEOPLEZ as quite a few were holding spots in line for others in their party who could now casually stroll up to the line since their spot was secured by their people. I'm telling you have a game plan! If I knew then what I know now I probably would have got there at least by 9:30, seriously. My party got waitlisted as soon as we were just one person away from entering the restaurant and we had to wait for another 40 minutes. Fortunately it was a nice day so we just walked around the neighborhood and came back and got in. It's a small quaint place that only seats about 28 people. You'll feel like your visiting your favorite relatives home. You'll glance around at the other guest and feel like WOW i'm one of the few who finally made it into one of the most coveted highly acclaimed restaurants in Philly! Now let me see if it lives up to the hype! haha! I started out with the pear melon salad. It was light and refreshing. I thoroughly enjoyed the citrus notes and the pear slices. I would have never thought to add the pear but that really complimented the salad well. I was told that a MUST try is the head on soft shell shrimp. At first I wasn't thrilled about the thought of eating the head but said what the heck, lets go for the full experience! If you love softshell crabs you'll love this! There was nothing off putting about it. It simply taste like delicious premium shrimp in a fish caramel sauce with a hint of thai basil and chili. It was wonderful. I could have gone for a second round but I wanted to try other items. I enjoyed the seafood fried rice..this is similar to the crab fried rice but included uni roe and caviar with saracha on the side so you can regulate your heat level. I'll say this, while I enjoyed the seafood fried rice and the bonus elements of it, I was not a fan of the texture of the rice itself. Perhaps it's just my preference. The rice was light, fluffy and slightly sticky in texture whereas I prefer more of a thai fried rice which is dry, slightly firm and non-clumpy texture. But that's not taking any cool points away from Mawn. It's just my preference that i'm mentioning in case anyone else goes in expecting a different texture. I love the team service aspect at Mawn. Our waiter emphasized that we're not bugging anybody if we need anything we can stop any staff person walking by. I love that. Beef Noodle soup is delicous here. So is the yellow curry noodle soup. The fish is really good here too. I didn't realize I could have requested for it to be deboned (probably because I was talking to much lol) But my waiter was kind enough to come over and help me debone it when they saw I was struggling lol This was the first time I ever had a green thai tea! It was really a treat. Not overly sweet. Nothing but pure deliciousness here! And a super helpful warm friendly staff.

The papaya salad paired well with this, as it was tangy and refreshing, especially on such a hot day. The scallop crudo was a special for the night, but I think they should add this to their permanent menu because it was definitely a standout! The all star fried rice at $54 was also well worth it. I am often disappointed by dishes like these due to the lack of "stuff", but there was crab throughout and a generous portion of roe. I was a little disappointed however that there were only 2 scallops at that price. Overall, each dish had impeccable flavor, great presentation, and a good amount of seafood for the price.

The massaman curry here is insanely creamy and tasty, with a hearty helping of vegetables. We ordered it with tofu, which came in cubes of the soft, unfried variety. Paired with rice, this was a winning dish. The pad woon sen - a savory glass noodle dish - can also be ordered with one's choice of protein. We liked it well enough with the chicken, and found it to be well-seasoned. Our server brought us some hot chili sauce on the side, and the spice lover in me was only too happy to heap spoonfuls of it over everything. Our interactions with servers were...interesting. One of our servers seemed rather terse and cold, while the other hovered a little more than I would've liked. When he saw me taking out my camera, he reached in to take my fork. He used it and his bare hands to rearrange our appetizers, seemingly for the pictures. It was a raised brow moment for us, as was finding that our coconut shrimp neither tasted remotely close to coconut and that it was still frozen in the middle. We pointed this out to our server, who apologized and took it back. But instead of bringing out a fresh plate, it turned out they'd just refried our original pieces, even the ones we'd half eaten. Much as I'd hate to raise alarms for such a small and homely business, we couldn't help but wonder about whether it was sanitary to recook eaten food in their deep fryer. This restaurant has been described in lots of other reviews as a hole-in-the-wall, which feels true. While it's more spacious on the inside than it seems on the outside, there's a smallness and intimacy to the restaurant. The menu is also fairly short and streamlined to a few categories. There's no dedicated parking lot, but we were able to find free street parking without too much trouble.
