Bubba, Wayne + Tim Sewer Svc has rodded out the outflow drain to clear out tree roots each spring, sometimes skipping a year, since 1985 (back when the company was called Bubba and Son). Some years there was virtually nothing; other times a mass! I missed last spring, and had to deal with the consequences on New Year's Day: water in my basement! On January 2, I called at 6:15 am and they were here by 10:30 and pulled out a formidable blockage. Down the water went! Tim came by and did a sewer scope on a property I was looking to purchase. He showed me what he was doing and explained what we were seeing. Two weeks after I bought my home I had 8 inches of water in my basement. I thought the name was catchy and they had very positive reviews. I have been with this company since 2018 and would never, ever consider using anyone else. They hit all the marks, show up on time, get the job done on time and correctly. The owners themselves are part of the the crew, and pricing is very reasonable. Wayne went over my choices to address the flooding, I picked, changed my mind to the other option (I'm sure it was a pain for him). We used Bubba and Wayne 10 years ago and they were wonderful. We kept their number and we're glad we did. Last month during the record breaking rains of May we took about 5 inches of water in the basement. We have had intermittent issues with sewer back up into the basement and decided this last time would be the last time. We called a couple of plumbing services and asked for quotes on a Flood Control System. Wayne was wonderful. He came to our home, looked at our situation, and gave us the best bid we were to get on the job. The other service we asked to bid the project never came out. They gave us a quote, sight unseen, with the caveat 'additional costs' may be involved and sent us a contract. Wayne explained the process and counseled us on the project, as well as another small plumbing issue we had. We made the deal, paid 50% of the total charge, and Wayne set us up with a date for the job to be started. He was able to schedule the job within 15 days of the contract signing. Considering we were in middle of the Covid-19 'Shelter in Place' order, we were delighted to hear we would be taken care of so quickly. The private dumpster for the dirt removal arrived the day before the start date and the Bubba and Wayne crew assembled at 7:30 on the appointed day. Wayne explained each step of the process and immediately got back to us when we called with a couple more questions. THE HIGH QUALITY OF COMMUNICATION THAT WAYNE PROVIDED WAS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO US, AND WILL BE FOR YOU AS WELL. The process was amazing to watch. The hard working crew dug a deep (7 ft) pit the 1st day. The second day they built the concrete vault which would house the system and dug the trench to accommodate the electrical line. By the end of the 2nd day they were finished. Wayne pulled all the permits and gave us the warranty papers for the pump and the check valve. Wayne inspected our drain pipes into the sewer line and discovered that we had a collapsed sewer line to the main sewer. The break was beyond our property, which meant that the repair cost for the collapsed sewer line would be the financial responsibility of the City of Chicago. He passed the info on to the City Inspector who agreed it would be at City expense and not our expense. This portion of the project would have cost us thousands of $$ had we been required to foot the bill. Thank you, Wayne. The day after the job was complete, the dumpster was picked up and removed from the street in front of our home. Thanks, guys! this was the easiest Home Improvement job we have endured in the 30 years we have owned our home. We are so grateful for the professional service provided by Bubba and Wayne Service. I called them about a clogged drain. They said they could be over in 90 minutes. To their word, they showed up on time. Within 20 minutes they were done and the drains were flowing nicely again. It pays to get a recommendation from your trusted local Ace hardware store friend and owner. These guys dug up a pipe in my front yard, pulled out 40 ft of old cable *somebody* left, replaced the pipe and put in an access point. All in one day. AND they made comments about being careful not to damage the peonies close to the dig site. Quality. I will be using them again for sure. read more

Bubba & Wayne are great if you're in a pinch and can't get a plumber, or don't quite need one. They've cleared clogs for me and they do it pretty quickly. I'd love to enthusiastically recommend them, but as it is I've had mixed results. One team that came out were sweet and super helpful. The next team were borderline rude. No, skip the borderline. They were rude. And, to be honest, if you KNOW you need a plumber (not just something something stuck in the drain), call your plumber. (If you don't have a plumber check out MidCity Plumbing, they're awesome!) Otherwise, you'll be paying to have B&W snake something on top of paying a plumber to actually fix the underlying problem. I choose these guys to install a flood control system in my 4 unit condo building after they did work on my neighbors building and he recommended them. I talked to Reba (I think that's her name) on the phone to set up the appointment for Wayne to come out and check out the job and give me a quote. He arrived exactly when he said he would, checked out everything, went over everything, and answered all my questions. Yes, he is a bit curt. He is a 2nd generation plumber who works very hard and it shows. I'm used to dealing with blue collar 'fellas (I grew up in Pennsyvania) and he is no different. He is not rude. He is just matter of fact. We set up the appointment for the work to be done and he told me the office would email me a contract. I got the contract within a few hours! On the day, the crew showed up headed by Bubba himself. I talked to Bubba a bit through out the day so I learned a bit about him. He is 75 (you would never know it) has been plumbing for over 40 years, Wayne is his son and his grandson also works for the company. It turns out that the woman that answers the phone is his wife of 40 years! Now that's a family business. Bubba's crew was 6 guys who were also all related to each other and at least one of which has been with the company for 30 years. I only have one complaint about the crew. They said they would be there at 8:00 AM and there were there at 7:30 AM and I had to drag my butt out of bed to let them into the basement. These guys are insane! They dug the giant hole for the pit by hand. They placed the sod and top soil aside and replaced it when they were done. They even swept the sidewalk and the street were they were loading the truck when they left. The whole job was finished by 3:00 PM or so. They guarantee their work for 5 years if you have them come out once a year to clean and maintain the pit and the lines at the regular market price. I couldn't be happier with the work they did, the cleanup afterwards, and their efficiency I would recommend them to anyone. They are a family owed and run business who are hands on. read more

I called Bubba and Wayne because we had water that wasn't draining in our basement after it rained. They came out the day after I called and told me my sump pump didn't work and that a new sump pump would cost $550.00. That was outrageous. I called a couple of other companies and I was quoted prices between $325.00 and $450.00 for the same size pump (1 1/2 inches). I had another company come out who fixed it the next day for $325.00. I had to pay $75.00 to Bubba and Wayne for the service call but I was still ahead. I have used Bubba and Wayne several times over the years in different buildings I own to clean catch basins, etc. I have always been satisfied with their work but I am very disappointed with their fees now. read more

I was in a real Jam. I rodded my own drain and the cable got twisted and stuck. I worked on it and worked on it and finally had to give up and call experts. My neighbor suggested Bubba and Wayne sewer. I'd never heard of them. I thought this was going to cost me thousands of dollars and may require excavation Etc. These guys fix the problem in about 15 minutes, retrieving my twisted cable and riding my pipes to the house and to the Sewer. Cost me $325, which I thought was an extremely fair price. I thought it would cost more. I will definitely have them at the top of my list for any serious plumbing problems. read more

This business specializes in clogged drains and sewers. The kitchens sink drains in my 2-flat were suddenly totally backing up after being slow. I called and they were able to come within 15 minutes. (We don't live very far from their location, but, of course, they may not be able to come this fast for everyone, but they try.) They used a power rodder and cleared the drains quickly. We were advised not to pour grease down the drains and once a month use natural ingredients to clear the drains. Rodding once a year is often necessary in addition. If you are a landlord, you may have to schedule drain cleaning every 6 months for the rental units. read more

Anthony and Luis arrived on time, were wearing masks and gloves and finished the task quickly. I asked about our catch basin, as I had been told it needed to be cleaned. They could have easily charged me the fee to do so, as a supposedly reliable source told me it needed maintenance. They checked it out and told me it was all fine. They team that came out was super professional, knew what they were doing and explained what they were doing every step of the way. I would not have known to call the city to have them check their part of the sewer. They did and came back out to meet the city and only charged me for one visit. Because of them, the city agreed that it was their responsibility to repair the sewer, and when I lost the paperwork to call the city to find out when they were coming, Jane called the city and spoke to the head of the department, who called me to make sure to let me know that I was on the schedule. I hired Bubba & Wayne after many verbal recommendations. If you use them, get your work checked! We hired them to clean roots of of the sewer line during a sale inspection period, and when the buyers had the sewer scope redone a few days after Bubba & Wayne came out, they discovered the work had not actually been completed like we were told. They sent their guys back out to do the job AFTER being confronted about it, but not before Wayne ridiculed me on the phone about how it must be the sewer scope people not understanding what they are seeing on the camera. It was clear they used a 4" blade for a 6" clean out, and we saw TONS of roots coming out the second time they came out.... I tried to explain to Wayne that we have to hire the sewer scope scope guys to come out AGAIN because the job wasn't done correctly the first time and hoped he would either cover it (additional exclusively caused by B&W) or provide a new scope, but he flat out refused, spoke over me, and did not understand my reasoning whatsoever because his guys "came back out and finished the job after all"....I'm an extra $355 in for an additional sewer scope, with no help from Bubba & Wayne. read more

This guys are really good at what they do -- but they're stuck in the 80's. I had them come out and run a camera down my sewer line. They said they would give me a tape of what they found. They did -- but they gave me a VHS tape. Are you KIDDING? I haven't owned a VHS player in over a decade!!! When I queried them about it, they said that's what the city of Chicago requires. I am blown away that I paid $350 for a VHS tape I can't watch. read more
