As another review mentioned, they are quick to seat and give a window table with a lake view. But after that, extremely bad service followed. We were seated for 20 minutes without the waitress coming to our table to even give us water. She looked over at us several times, knew we were sitting there, but absolutely ignored us. Another woman came and sat down, was served her drinks, and the waitress even sat and had a long conversation with her. All the while, we kept waiting for her to come over. We finally got up and left. Here's the kicker- the girls at the hostess table didn't even look at us or ask if anything was wrong while we were leaving. They completely ignored us as well. I don't like to assume reasons behind their actions, but we were the only non-white people there while the rest of the patrons appeared to be locals. This treatment from the waitress just made us feel extremely unwelcome overall. I thought most of the world was well past this kind of behavior and discrimination. They have a bunch of outdoor seating but not using it. Just empty chairs and tables with umbrellas collecting dust, even though the lake view is amazing. When we asked if we can sit outside because we had our dog with us (also named Bubba:) they said no they are not using the tables(go figure). Wings, fish burger, fries were good but my clam chowder was made with imitation crab which is a disgrace to New England, also i paid extra for a bread bowl with Gouda cheese and never received the cheese. This place is a must! The food here was incredible as was the service. Ambiance was solid, we were able to finish our meal and grab our ice-cream, walk across the street and watch the sun set. I can't say enough about the food though. I got the grilled reuben and my wife got the grilled salmon. Both were excellent. The seafood stew was incredible too. Ice-cream was also great. A small sized cup is yuuuuuge! We were passing through on vacation, but we may go back again before we leave. Only mildly "negative" thing was the hostess doesn't smile - that lady is ALL business. Bubba's has wonderful staff that are very amenable to your needs. We have been there many,many times in the past. They accommodate large families, with advance notice, and I believe try very hard to elevate their offerings to a step above the usual. Many items have a special twist. The pasta is fresh, the drinks are creative. My biased complaint is how they advertise a "full breast" chicken piccata on their menu, however, only a half breast arrives. I noticed this when we started ordering pick up during Covid.It used to be a lovely full breast offering, about halfway through they changed. I didn't lame them, thought it would sort out eventually. Sadly, even though the relatively new menu says full breast, it is a half breast. The price, however, rose quite dramatically. Seems to me a miss as chicken isn't hugely expensive and why not give a full breast instead of a very slim half? Change the menu? Lower the price? Think it would be appreciated. Order their special margarita which was supposed to have a sugared rim, got served the drink in a regular glass with no sugar. Asked the waitress to fix it, and she went to the bar and then came back for the drink to fix it, sugar was a mess all over the glass - not worth the $14.99 that we were charged. The waitress wasn't very attentive, someone else cleared our appetizer plate and placed the order for our other drink. Also, burgers served with no condiments - ketchup is the only thing on the table, had to wait for the waitress to decide to come over to ask for mustard, why wouldn't these things either come with the meals or be on the table if the waitstaff is too busy. Overall poor customer service. There were three of us eating, two meals came out and our ten-year-old daughter had to wait for her which was simple Kraft macaroni and cheese - why wouldn't you bring the kids meal out first or everything together??? The waitress was right on top of things when it came to the bill and hopefully getting a tip, if only she was that attentive during the meal. This seems to be the general theme with the waitstaff as another person eating there had to track down her waitress who was sitting at a table talking to a friend to get her side of dressing that she asked for since her burger was dry and needed the moisture. When we went to inquire about getting a table we were told "That we didn't plan too well and that it would be a long wait." Ouch!, rude and snarky all at the same time. First and foremost, this place is pricey! A dinner for my self and young child was in the 40-50$ range. We got wings for an appetizer and they were subpar. We ordered the sauce on the side, and the when the wings came out they were as plain as flour. My son got a pizza, which he rated as "well I can now say I have tried it" which means he would prefer pizza from somewhere else. I got a rack of ribs, and they were for the most part disappointing. The ribs were very dry, though fall off the bone dry ribs. I also got onion rings which I had maybe two of. We came here as a family of four (2 young kids) last night during one of Sunapee's busy weekends with the Craftsman Fair. This place was packed! The hostesses and the waitstaff were *so nice* and accommodating. The place has nice atmosphere being just across the road from the water, with large windows for the nice view. Nice decor and cute bar area. Our food was good. We got the wings for an appetizer. I had a spinach salad with salmon that I really liked (it had a bit too much bacon, but some people really like bacon so I bet most people would love it). My husband enjoyed his chicken sandwich. They have a nice kids menu. My kids had a burger and the chicken tenders. The kids menu comes with a drink and (the. best part) includes ice cream or cookies. Our waitress was so smart to ask us discreetly if the kids could have dessert. I really appreciate that, because sometimes I just don't want them to have that extra amount of sugar right before bedtime. We got to get the ice cream to go at the little stand outside (many different flavors to pick from) and took them across to the little sitting area at the water. It was SO NICE! What a great way to finish off dinner! The kids played on the dock and the little raised covered area. I thought everything was reasonably priced for the food, atmosphere and service. I usually come here after visiting the NH Craftsman Fair every year before driving back to Boston. This time I decided to try the Fried clam with bellies entree which they are charging $40.99. OMG what a disaster. I received a plate of French fries and these burnt things that I was told were the Fried Clams. Absolutely terrible customer services and overall experience. We moved to the area in the Fall and decided to give Bubba's a try, we will NEVER go back. We were seating quickly but that's where the positive experience ended. Each around of drinks took 25+ minutes and appetizers took 1 hour! By the time dinner came it was 2+ hours later. All the while, our waitress did not come once to refill the water. I spoke to the host and waitress about our disappointment and was told they would speak to the manager. Fast forward 30 minutes later, the waitress told us the manager said, "is been like that all night". We watched multiple tables come and go in the time it took to get our second round of drinks. The manager did not even have the decency to visit our table and speak with us. My advice, explore the many other restaurant options (i.e. Appleseed or Salt Hill Pub). read more

Pretty responsible about Covid. Very solid food that pleases the whole squad. Beer selection isn't fabulous but the food makes up for it. Sometimes I come in and get seated for one if I get tired of my roommates and the wait staff is always super nice and attentive. When I first moved to the area, I even got a few local recommendations from my waiter. One note: I absolutely love that they offer takeout here, but it always comes out a little colder than I would expect. I show up, have to wait ten minutes for my takeout order, and the food feels 15 minutes cold. The quality of the food makes up for it, but if the business owners made sure to get the takeout orders up to the front so that the customer could grab them upon arrival, I think everything would go much more smoothly. read more

My friends and i come here often, but less often in the past year. We try things on the menu and will never order again. We're running out of things that are actually cooked well. Burnt cheese? Stopped for the first time on our way from Boston towards Buffalo. The menu had numerous seafood items - we opted for the Seafood Chowder in a bread bowl and a haddock sandwich accompanied by coffee and a ginger ale. The chowder contained sparse amounts of "fake"lobster. The fish sandwich held a perfectly square piece of fish with a tasteless Panko coating. The hand-cut fries looked promising. The color was right but the texture was not. Except for a few savory, crispy bits, the fries were limp. I imagine they were kept warm in a moist environment. The coffee, weak and old. The ginger ale turned out to be seltzer - evidently the syrup ran out unnoticed. Our waitress and the hostess were the highlight of the experience. Both were attentive, pleasant, and efficient.
