We are the only customer during dinner time. Their services are same as last time, no greetings, no smile, no thank you, not following instructions, rushing us to take orders and ignoring us whenever we try to ask for napkins, we need to use our own. ​2 of us had tried their.... smoked duck on Ramen with tom yum kung soup --- it's not spicy, only sour, not much ingredients inside.. pork jawl meat and sliced lamb on flat rice noodles with minced pork fish soup --- way too much deep fried garlic inside the soup + soup base was too salty --- they put shredded lamb, not sliced lamb --- the soup base taste different than the Richmond center branch 2 ice lemon ribena --- i asked for less ice, but they gave me less drinks, only 2/3 full.. ---1 of them half glass of ice inside.. --- it's tasteless with a lot of lemon seeds inside.. I usually have the customized soup noodle at Bubble Waffle, but decided to have the Hainanese chicken dish instead. I decided to try the laksa version instead of the rice. The chicken was good, tender and moist. The laksa was good too, if you are not expecting the laksa gravy from Singapore. Here (and most places in Vancouver), the laksa is more like a curry gravy soup thing. It lacks the spices and most importantly the laksa leaves garnish which give more flavor to the dish. Still good though. I just have to remember laksa = curry here. I added the bubble waffle which was nicely done. It went very well with the laksa. I dipped it into the gravy like you do roti. You get a mix of sweet and salty and slight spiciness to it. I am glad this place is here in the strip mall, especially if you want some HK cafe type of food. read more

I really always get their laksa here you really can't go wrong with the different dishes here. Out of all the locations in Richmond the one located in ironwood has hands down the most impressive laksa soup base. * Hainanese chicken laksa ($11.98) ~ I always get it with rice noodles as it's the only way! The soup base is rich and creamy very good with the hainanese chicken and it's so good let's just say I drink the soup! The chicken is always boneless and silky. Nicely cooked and juicy too! * Hainanese chicken rice ($11.68) ~ their chicken rice is good too best part also boneless! The oil rice is so good and delicious and that silky soft juicy chicken just makes the dish 100% complete! I love the pairing condiments it comes with. * 2X bubble waffle (+$1.50) ~ must have did you even have bubble waffle if you don't get this staple item? Super delicious and crunchy. Got the Hong Kong style Milk Tea & HK style Coffee + Milk Tea. Total was $5.50. It was good, tasty, slightly sweet but not overpowering. Coffee was the better one of the two. Milk tea had a slight tangy afternote. I enjoyed it and would order the same drinks again. Service was appallingly poor. For a location who boasts of a "Grand Opening" banner out front, its employees played a poor first impression. No one would take our order & our drinks + receipts were shoved to us in an irritated manner. They have Wifi but wouldn't give us the password even though we were paying customers. Finally, a noodle soup place (other than pho) close to work. This one's not a stranger to many (or at least to me) since they have 8 other locations spread around the lower mainland, including two in Richmond (Aberdeen and Lansdowne Mall). And, lots of parking in Ironwood Plaza, a plus for me. Walked in with a couple of my colleagues at around 11:30a on a Friday with lots of tables to choose from. But by 12:00p, it was packed and a small lineup outside. The ordering is simple, tick off what you want on a bilingual (English/Chinese) form, and submit it to the server. Service was fast, efficient, and friendly. As expected, the food is good or as good as the other locations. Nothing fancy. The Satay Ramen + Drink combo that I had was pretty good. And the HK style waffle cake is always a nice treat. Good for a quick bite on a weekday. And another plus is they accept credit card payment, not just the usual cash only like other noodle shops around Richmond. read more

I liked the food here..I recommend their hainanese chicken with rice. I think the only thing I wished they did was not put the soy sauce, ginger sauce, and chili sauce on the same plate. It kind of made the food taste more of one sauce each section of the plate rather than a balanced taste. The Laksa soup was not as spicy but still pretty good. The combos we ordered came with H.K. style drinks (hot or cold). You can also add bubble waffles for a dollar extra. It's a lot of food for the amount you are paying. Overall the restaurant is a bit tight - ie. tables are close together and the walkway to the bathroom or other tables are narrow. always been a fan of bubble waffle cafes and its good to see them now expanding to various locations....been visiting since their humble beginnings on kingsway... anyhow, tried this ironwood location and wasnt that impressed! the kingsway and lansdowne ones are way better. had the hainan chicken rice - this is the reason why i gave 3 stars instead of 2. still tender and succulent as ever. rice was made well and very fragrant with the broth. had the noodle soup combo...lamb slices with beef balls on laksa base with ramen noodles. laksa soup base was weak and a bit watery! total bummer for me! next we also hd the angus beef on dried noodle. dish was a so so....visually ok but not enough color. no scallions or green onions , just corn! plus, it had a peculiar smell which shouldnt be there. noodles were also borderline on the sweet side, instead of salty. not what you'd expect for sure! had the takoyaki for appys...and yes, they were frshly made with shavings of bonito flakes. the lemon ice tea was weak too. not full of flavour like other branches. milk tea was at least consistent. plus side is tons of free parking and service was quick! server was smiling despite the traffic coming in. cheers! happy eating! read more

Of all the locations I visited, this is the WORSE! Not sure if the chef had a bad day or the standard is just not living up to the other locations such as Aberdeen or even Lansdowne! The soup noodle was tasteless, my ovatine drink was watered down and the bubble waffle was oily and over done! We also ordered the black pepper duck breast rice combo which was super oily! For most restaurants the pictures are not always accurate but this one was down right NOT the same! I wouldn't go back....but like most bad restaurants, they will always have their own tasteless customer base! If there was an option for a negative star I wouldn't even give this place one star!!!! 3 Stars Huge shared parking lot. No problem finding parking. First impressions, not a very big restaurant, we had to wait for 10mins for a seat. It's a little cramped. Ordered: Haininese Chicken Noodle Soup - the portion size is not very big. The chicken was a little bland. added HK Style Waffle Cake - really good waffle with peanut butter/condensed milk topping. Haininese Chicken and Rice Combo - again, not a big portion and the chicken isn't as flavouraful as other hainines chicken we have had. added regular bubble waffle - known for their bubble waffle and done very well. Terrible food only surpassed by it's useless staff. Went there with my girls and ordered 2 noodle soup combos and a fried noodle with beef. My spicy soup was bland and I ordered lamb and pork slices but only tasted pork. I don't think they even put lamb in. I ordered fish balls which wasn't entered in. No apologies after o told the lady. My 8 year old told me her order was wrong as well but didn't mind her plain soup with soggy noodles. My 12 year old's fried noodles tasted like it was packed full of sugar and super oily. Used to go to the Landsdowne and Aberdeen location mostly before until Ironwood opened up. Why?! They only have the teppan plates at this location. I really enjoy their creative teppan dishes as all of them come with curly fries! If you order take out they used to give you curly fries but now they give you these mini potato poppers. I guess it's just easier to pack everything into a small tin bowl. And with now their 'order online' system I usually order online and pick it up. (also it's cheaper too). Their drinks are quite standard however they are always consistent. Bubble waffle is also best known for their create your own soup noodles. You can pick your own soup base, there is about 10 different soup bases. Choose your own noodles you want, (udon, rice noodle, vermicelli, etc,) choose your toppings (beef, spam, mushrooms, water crest and etc.) There's actually alot of toppings to choose from. They say you can only pick 2 toppings, however you can add more for an additional cost of like $1.75 or something? You can also choose combos where you get a drink, HK waffle and your create your own soup noodles for like $9 or something. (Which is always my second choice as that's a lot of food for a cheap price). IMO this is one of their better locations and relatively fast compared to the others. I came here on a Sunday around 5. Service was slow and staff were hard to get a hold of. I ordered a drink from the slush series and asked for pearls however my server informed me that they had run out for the day...This was surprising considering they closed at 9. Bubble tea was...not good. Tried two drinks: taro slush and milk tea slush. Both were mostly flavorless, like they'd been blended with too much ice and also made with too little sugar. My family and I have been to the Lansdowne location on several occasions, so we recently decided to give the Ironwood location a shot. The option of actually being served at your own table rather than waiting in line for 40 minutes was very appealing. While the decor and furniture are very nice (this location only opened a few months ago), the service was very lacking. I had to get up from my table and start walking toward the kitchen before anyone noticed that we were ready to place our order, after getting frustrated from trying to flag someone down. My wife and I made it extremely clear to the server that our son is allergic to shrimp and other shellfish, which she acknowledged. We ordered a bowl of udon fish soup with fish balls containing dried tofu for him. When the soup arrived, our son was not keen on eating much of the fish balls, and it was only after I tried one myself that it become painfully obvious that the fish ball contained SHRIMP PASTE! By then, it was too late, and I had to bring my son to the washroom, where he had to throw up due to a bad allergic reaction. Thankfully, he did not develop anaphylaxis, otherwise it would have been a quick trip to the hospital emergency room. We explained what happened to the server, who then got defensive and denied any responsibility, claiming that their suppliers often change which makes it hard for them to know if there is any shrimp at any given time. This was a very weak and poor explanation, especially considering how they say on their order forms to advise the server of any food allergies. This puts the onus clearly on the establishment to know what's in the food that they serve. As a minor concession, they did not charge us for the offending noodle soup, but they only offered a very insincere and half-hearted apology. If the experience wasn't so terrible, I would have likely given three stars, and if the food wasn't otherwise okay, I would give only one. My wife and I were fine with our dishes (egg noodle chicken soup with beef ball and Vietnamese ham, stir-fried udon with Angus beef and corn), but the overall experience was so terrible that we are not going back. So be warned, anyone who has food allergies. This restaurant doesn't take food allergies seriously, so eat here at your own risk and bring your own Epi-pen! read more

What is the deal with Asian cuisine and bubbles? Bubble tea reminds me too much of fat balls of mucous, and don't belong in a beverage. I didn't try their bubble tea, but did add a bubble waffle with a combo deal for a buck. Really really good. Creamy and airy, not filling. At least it would not have been if the noodle soup I had wasn't so filling. That too was delicious, I had the satay base with shrimp and fish balls, though literally there could be thousands of different soups to be tried when you consider all the combo options. Next time I am out in southern Canada (Steveston, I live in Vancouver) I will work on the second of the 1,000 combos. read more

But service is truly awful. a few servers milling around in a group chatting and clearly not interested in serving customers. Orders were ignored, our waffle order was forgotten . The young man who had taken our order and forgotten it was chatting with his colleagues at the counter, when I flagged down another server and asked where my waffle was, he saw me looking at him and slunk away to hide in the back. Terrible service, even for a Chinese restaurant where I usually expect basic but prompt service. We have tried this chain in Aberdeen and Landsdowne and stopped going because the food and service were sub par. We tried this place out as an alternative to Pho and were pleasantly surprised ! Maybe it's because it's not a mall food court place, and they take more time in preparing their food and we are being served instead of waiting with a crowd with a number. One of my favourite to go spots for dinner on weekdays and lunch on weekends! The dumpling combos are my favourite- you get to choose a soup base (same as the noodle soup base) and 10 dumplings. With a drink it's $9.50; a really good deal! The dumplings are good portion and decent size and consistent every time I've had it! My favourite is the pork with chive dumplings and pork with cabbage. read more
