I have been here several times to get my haircut and the stylists were always nice and did a good job. I'm basing this review off of my most recent experience. When I walked in there were stylists EVERYWHERE. I only recognized a couple of them, so I think they probably hired a bunch of new people recently. I got Gwen, who was young and stylish and seemed happy to be there. When we talked about a hair cut (I was just looking for a trim and some shape, it had been about 6 months since I had a trim), she asked if I thought about highlights. I said sure, I thought something new and different would be fun. She spent the next hour and a half doing partial highlights. When she was done, she went to get a snack because apparently doing your job poorly makes one hungry. Every single foil bled. At one point she touched them up, but it was tragic. TRAGIC. But now I'm stuck in the chair and just hoping for the best. After washing and conditioning, she blew my hair dry, which takes forever with my hair. She burned my scalp and I flinched away on several occasions. After my hair was dry she "cut" it. I use quotation marks, because she took off maybe half an inch? And as for shape, there wasn't much going on. It looked about the same as when I came in. Except for the color. I had streaks of orange in my hair. STREAKS. It was bad. I walked through the mall with my head down, hoping no one would notice. As soon as I got home, I immediately started calling around to other salons to find someone to fix it. This was complicated by the fact that I had to go to a wedding in 2 hours (and after spending 2.5 hours at Bubbles, ugh). Luckily, I found Tagi's Salon in Columbia, who was willing to take me right away and got my hair back to a reasonable color. After that incident, I'm done winging it at Bubbles. I've always dealt with the semi-rude staff because they cut my hair fine and I got it over with quickly, but I'm just going to put in the work to find someone that I can trust and stick with them. read more

I love Bubbles for the service you get for the price! I've never had an issue with Bubbles until yesterday. My stylist was Ni and she was great, would definitely recommend her. Only complaint was the girl at the front desk who said the next available appointment was 5:30, and when I showed up at 5:30, the stylist was not finished. She assured me that she was finishing up and would only be a few minutes. I checked in again ten minutes later, and she was still not finished. I didn't end up getting my haircut until 6:00. I would have rather had her been upfront with me saying that the next available appointment was 6:00 instead of 5:30. read more

Getting a good red is almost impossible around here, I mean one that does not fade, is vibrant whether a more violet - burgundy color or more gold - orangy red. Yes the stylists do socialize a bit too much with each other sometimes. Yes there have been times when they were clearly overbooked and people are made to wait WAY too long. I developed a relationship with my stylist, and she will let me know if there will be a wait, I have even had her call and tell me that someone canceled earlier, do I want to come in now, or call me to say are you in a hurry I am overbooked. read more

Ok, the only reason I'm not giving 1 star is that I've been before and everyone has been just fine, though I've always just gone there as a walk-in...which was apparently the problem, haha. I made an appointment after work at 5:30, and when I checked in the receptionist (who again, was very nice), looked a little nervous and said my stylist would be there sometime. Uh oh. I asked for clarification and she said she that she'd be there soon. Fine fine. So I sit down as Armand (I think thats his name, tall, larger man?) finishes with someone. He doesn't say anything to me as he wanders around the otherwise empty shop and then wanders out. This didn't surprise me as I have watched him roll his eyes frequently when asked to do anything by the other staff. Anyways, the poor receptionist is on the phone, and I really appreciated that, because I knew she was most likely trying to contact the stylist. About 20 minutes had passed, not a huge deal but I was getting a little impatient. I don't know anyone but Armand's name for whatever reason, but the stylist with the long blonde hair walked in a few minutes after he walked out noticed me waiting was super nice. She said that she had an appointment in a few minutes but would ask Armand to fill in. He essentially says no, and that my stylist would be there in 10 minutes. The receptionist jumped in and said that she was walking in. Ooook. So anyways, the stylist did in fact walk in a minute later. I wish I knew her name, but she was a petite African American woman with very close cropped hair. Avoid her at all costs. She walks in with an obvious major attitude and sort of rolls her eyes and says that I can come with her, turns around and sort of sashays off. Honestly, I would have stayed if she had been immediately friendly and apologetic. But in no way am I going to pay 140 plus tip to a person who doesn't understand she works in the service industry. We get to her chair and I just tell her I'm going to come back another time and she FLIPS out and yells at me to go someone else and: Fine! Fine! Go to someone else! I have to eat too you know! Go to someone else, how do you expect me to eat?? I need to survive! How do you expect me to survive?? I walk out, clearly, trying honestly not to laugh. No one in the salon says anything to me as a walk out (and trust me, as someone outside of the shop asked me what happened, they could definitely hear her). I was a bit surprised no one apologized or called; I guess I'm used to higher customer service. Like I said, I had only gone to the place as a walk-in when I needed a touch up, and usually gone to another place for my other, more substantial hair stuff. Honestly, the blonde stylist was completely nice, as was the receptionist. Like I said, it's been fine before. I won't go back just because I don't trust a salon that lets a stylist yell at a customer as she walks out without apologizing. What a bizarre experience. read more

The hairstylists I've had here- all have been fair to really great. I can't recall the lady with the purple hair's name (ahhh I suck), but she was great at explaining what she was doing, and holding conversation. Not the best services at this salon, but not a bad back-up. But, I AM never ever going to return- I might just smack the front desk staff. They are RUDE for no reason, double book appointments (the point of an appointment is to have a set time because everyone is busy), and did I say they were RUDE? That is your main job- be the face of the business, and provide good customer service. I felt like I was her personal burden. I was fine when they acted that way with me, I try to kill em with kindness. But, then she spoke to my mother that way, and I wanted to punch them. They are ALWAYS in a rotten mood- please quit and work in a place where you don't have to interact with people. Oh- and apparently she didn't have change was $10s and $20s- hmph though, I didn't really believe her. Oh- and the blow-dry fell off half-way through and it cost $50.....so, no. Though, the attitude and appointment issues trumped the dumb price (which was not the previous quote). When I read the other reviews- it seems to be a pattern. Went here for a haircut today and I was severely disappointed! The cut was fine n they did an ok job ( it was a very simple cut) ... But the customer service was horrible.. It was as if I had inconvenienced them by being there.. I had a 5:30p appointment n had to wait till 6 to get attended.. Then the hairdresser Rochelle couldnt care less about what she was doing.. She kept leaving me sitting on that chair every 5 mins to go have fights with her boyfriend on the phone n then had the audacity to come back and boast of it to her colleagues not even putting up a show of professionalism... I never write bad reviews but I am so outraged by my experience that this is the only way I can think of trying to save others from going through what I went through. If you're very easy-going and don't care about what your hair ends up looking like, you should definitely come to this salon. I officially received the worst haircut of my life at this salon and it was just a trim! I showed specific pictures of how I wanted the haircut to look, particularly my bangs, and showed pictures of myself with the exact bangs that I wanted. I pointed out the large poster in their salon and said that I wanted bangs just like that. Still the stylist, could not follow directions. She took the quick way out and when she was finished I had gone from looking slightly disheveled but acceptable to looking like a straight out man. How complicated is it to cut bangs? I showed exactly what I wanted. Weena normally does a fantastic job on my bangs, and maybe it's my fault for accepting the work of someone else, but I am literally to the point where I was ashamed to walk back out to my car with how hideous my hair looked after this cut. You're better off watching a Youtube video and cutting your hair yourself than coming here and paying their outrageous prices, dealing with their inattentive custom service , wasting a good chunk of your day only to look like a thirteen-year old boy. read more

I have been going to Bubbles for about seven years. I followed my stylist to this location after closures in Owings Mills and then Towson. As I faithful patron the service that I had yesterday has ended my relationship with the salon. I went yesterday to have my hair highlighted, trimmed and blown out by Crystal. I have been going to her for some time. I am AfAm with natural hair. If you are natural be prepared to pay double what your white counterparts pay for services. My appt was at 2 pm I was not done until 6:30 pm because Crystal took other people in between because she was over booked. At the end of my service which six months ago cost 150 dollars I was surprised to see an extra 40 dollars tacked on to the price. The I was asked if I wanted to give a tip. The anwser was definitely no considering she did a partial highlight and a blow up and trim which if you saw the end product did not explain the crazy pricing. So a word of warning if you have natural hair or even if you don't they are not transparent about the pricing there and up charge for unknown things if you dont want to get ripped off I would advise take your business elsewhere. read more

I had recently had a bad hair cut done in Las Vegas...I wanted it fixed so bad. I told my uncle I wanted to fix it and re-bleach it. I was so happy with the fix of my hair. Iman D. is the one you should try. Not only did he fix my hair but he was SUPER nice to me. Telling me how happy he was hearing I wanted to be a blonde and I'm from California!! I loved it! :) He asked what I wanted and how I wanted my hair and he gave EXACTLY what I want. I want to really badly see him again when I visit Maryland. The reason I'm not giving this a one (or no star) is because of my first visit here. I had Mina , who was great. I showed her a picture and described what I wanted, and she really paid attention to detail. She is one of the only stylists who have worked with my hair (and I have ALOT) and actually given me the exact result I wanted... Other stylists I would be satisfied but it wouldn't look the way I expected and that's okay. It wasn't your typical one inch trim or anything either- if you decide to come here, ask for Mina. Fast forward to today to the reason why I WOULD HAVE given one star- I called to make an appointment with Mina, seeing that I'm leaving for a trip and wouldn't have time in the next couple weeks to get a cut. I was told by a bored sounding receptionist over the phone that Mina was off today. Since this time all I wanted was a trim and some thinning out on the sides, I asked if anyone else was available. They said Sue had lots of time (red flag) because she was new since the bubbles salon she used to work at closed down (another red flag - maybe this is all info that a receptionist shouldn't be sharing). But I thought, I'm not getting anything too crazy or different done, so I said okay. Big mistake. First when I walked in, Sue thought I had a question for her and didn't realize I was actually her client. I showed her the same picture I showed Mina months back and gave the same description. Sue started thinning out my hair with a blade, and I've never found this tool to be PAINFUL before - I felt like hairs were being ripped out of my scalp all at once. When she showed me the final product I was horrified, it just looked so weird and nothing like the picture or the way Mina did it. The back was way short which couldn't be helped but the sides were still long and thick and a problem. I didn't want to make a scene so I politely asked sue to do something about the sides....she started giving me excuses about why she left it like that, when 1) I, the client, just requested for something to be done and 2) it was nothing close to what I asked for. I left in a huff after paying at the front desk to a receptionist who gave my tip (that I added on the credit card) in cash to me, then took it back and said "I'll give it to her and turned away without saying thank you, goodbye, nothing. I'm trying to be positive but the only positive thing I can think of is that I liked the shampoo they used on my hair and that I was able to slightly fix my hair when I got back home. Receptionist was overwhelmed, asked me to take a seat when no seats were available. Even customers getting color done in full cap, foil and robe were sitting in the tiny waiting area. If you have naturally curly (3c, 4a,b, and c) hair, do not come here. If you care about the health of your natural curly hair, do not come here. The people are nice but the service is trash. The person who did my hair used a paddle brush to brush out the tangles FROM THE TOP DOWN. then tried to brush it out with a roller brush you use to do a blow out. In the end my roots were still wavy. My hair was poofy. I wasted my time and money. If you are used to going to a dominican hair salon like me, DONT GO HERE. I got a pretty decent haircut from here, but I was disappointed that I when I sat down, my stylist quoted me $50 total, which supposedly included a haircut, style, and $10 promotional conditioning treatment, but somehow the price was bumped up to $60 when I went to pay - with no explanation. Got my hair cut by Crystal at Bubbles in Columbia Mall yesterday and she did and AMAZING job. She was fixing a cut that I got earlier in the week... I showed her a few pictures of what I wanted and didn't want and she gave me a cut better than anything I could have imagined! She has so much natural talent!!! I've been going to Bubbles off and on for about four years now, but after a negative "off" experience where I bought a Groupon and a stranger butchered my highlights -- I returned. Billy is very personable and puts you at ease. He listens to what you want, and gives you honest feedback. Plus, he corrected the mess that Groupon got me into, so he might also be a wizard. He *can* do great work. And he did, for me, on more than one occasion. But he can also interpret "caramel-colored lowlights" as all-over Little Mermaid red. I kid you not. I returned for a color correction and he took it down about a half a notch, so I was not happy, was not cute, was not offered a refund, and knew then and there that I was not coming back. I cannot speak for the quality of haircuts at this location. However, the customer service is terrible. I called ahead of time to request for a full hair cut with a skilled stylist that can cut bangs. Upon arriving to the salon, I had to wait 30 min additional from my scheduled appointment, and they misinterpreted my request. They thought I only wanted my bangs cut, so they made me wait even more. I can not recommend my hair stylist Amber more! She is super talented and all of my sisters and lots of friends have switched to her as a result of her great job as a hairdresser. She's very versatile and can deal with super creative people with more high end styles, as well as being great with classic looks, and has always given me a great color job. I've been with her for the past seven years now I think, and even on the one off time where I wasnt satisfied, she readily had me fixed up by herself or someone else asap. Shinhye is by far one of the best, probably the best hair stylist, I've ever let touch and care for my hair. Her main goal is hair maintanence; which is rare to find these days. I've been a client of Shinhye's for nearly 3 years and have never had a single issue. I have never even seeked out to other salons because it's not worth it. I have had color (full head and highlights), the Brazilian nano blowout treatment, plenty of haircuts, and amazing styling done by Shinhye. I have referred numerous people to her and my family and I come to Salon Bubbles faithfully for Shinhye's hard work talent! I would follow her where ever she goes even if it is out of state lol. Salon Bubbles is a completely professional and almost family like environment with a wonderful staff. Their products are what saved my hair and usually have special promotions. It is a tad bit pricey but the quality is unbeatable! It's worth every penny you spend. I highly recommend Salon Bubbles to any and everybody. I'm not a Salon Cielo customer, however, my mother has been going to the Columbia Mall location for years (when it was still known as Bubbles). She loves her stylist, who always does a great job. The stylist (Shinhae) listens to what she wants, and makes suggestions, if warranted. My mother has also used their spa services, which were good, but she's had better. I was a walk in on Saturday afternoon and came in knowing that there were mixed reviews on yelp. Reesa, the stylist who was able to squeeze me in for a haircut and blow dry while another customer had her color process, was awesome. I'm not super picky with my hair so I told her that I was growing out some old color and wanted about 3 inches off, and everything turned out great. Throughout the time I was there, everyone I encountered was very personable and pleasant to talk to and the price for the service was reasonable ($40). I cannot recommend this salon , I tried them once in a different location and they destroyed my hair cut and it has taken me almost over a year to grow it out. So I decided to give them another chance and go to a different location. I went to the one in the Columbia Mall. I wanted a simple trim and hair color. The color wasn't difficult I wanted BLACK hair. Not only did I not get black hair but she didn't even cover my grays. I ended up with brown hair and still had gray. On top of that I was there for almost 3hrs and still had wet hair when I left.?! She seemed nice enough, but she clearly had crappy skills when it came to color. For what they charge you should always come out with what you ask for,ALWAYS. Although they asked me to come back to get it fixed, I wasn't taking that chance again. What I wanted was my money back!!! There will not be a 3rd time at this Salon in any location. I was very pleased with my experience and thought the cost was quite reasonable. During the time since my haircut, I have gotten a bonus at work, a plaque that says 'excellence award', a promotion and transfer, AND I won a dollar in the lottery. Coincidence? I randomly wandered into the shop on Black Friday, Billy was they stylist "assigned" to me. I really had no idea how I wanted my hair so I left it up to him. I have to say that I got THE BEST hair color, highlights, and style I have had in over 10 years. I've been back three more times and am happier and happier each time I leave the shop. He is amazing! I really like the new location! Much more room than the place at the mall. The shampoo chairs are not very comfortable, however. With the new upscale location, it seems like they would have gotten more upscale shampoo chairs. Crystal was amazing! Very sweet stylist who works hard to give you exactly what you want. I was reading the reviews here and I wanted to say that I used to travel to Brooklyn NY because the person there cut my hair awesome and I had just not had that kind of cut here in this area, I looked for a replacement for a long time until I couldn't take it anymore and finally needed something quick. I walked into Bubbles and got Gwen on her first day. My cut that day was spectacular though I have to admit, when I found out I was her first full fledged customer I was nervous. I have seen her twice since then and both times were amazing. I see that someone else posted not having quite the same experience. So, I wanted to put my story up because I really think Gwen did a great job with my hair. I also don't want her to go away because then I will have to go back to Brooklyn and while that's all well and fine, it's a long commute :) So, my experience with Gwen has been awesome.
