Every time I come here I get ignored by the bartenders. They walk right past me and wait on friends or people who have been there. Also I go on the pub crawl they have for Halloween. You are not allowed to use the bathroom inside the bar. You have to go outside and use the porta John. Try using one of those while dressed in a costume...... read more

Wow, hope JW stays in Thiensville from now on. Bub's has some crazy nights where the place is packed and it is hard to move or just get to the restrooms. The odd thing is the place is huge. They have a sizable main bar area, but they also have a separate dining room, a banquet room in the back, and a second bar behind the main bar which has 3 pool tables and even further down - a stage for when they bring local artists in. They also have a small game room just off the bar which has 2 electronic dart boards and 3 Golden Tee games. The drink prices and specials are typical for the area. The thing that really sets them above the rest is some incredible food. They put out a free Christmas buffet this past year and it honestly rivaled (and hands down beat some) any Vegas buffets I have been to (not in the number of selections to choose from, but in terms of quality of food and taste). I found myself looking for a place to hold the Awards Banquet for the MFDA Monday Night Traveling Dart League. Participation varies widely from year to year such that I needed to find an establishment than could handle as few as 50 and as many as 100 or more people. BuBs seemed to fill this bill so I thought I'd give them a try. Boy, was that the right call! The food, the staff and the accommodations were all above par. Throughout the years, my banquets have garnered a simple compliment or two, at best, or sometimes just a simple thank you. More often than not I found myself dealing with a complaint about this or that. No complaints this time - and I received so many positive comments regarding the quality of food and service that I actually lost count. I highly recommend this place if you're having a party. Cant drink alcohol outside. Food was ok. Fried fish was pretty good. The mashed potatoes were good but had celery in them? The beef tips were heavy on the mushrooms and very light on the beef. The service was horrible! We rented out the banquet Hall for a work party and wehad 2 bbartendes. Theonly thing they had to do was take care of us and they were horrible. the time we had employees waiting for drinks while the 2 bartenders finished their conversation with each other. I recently hosted a party at Bubs and was impressed by the responsiveness and attentiveness of the staff. The room rental rates were extremely reasonable compared to others in the area and the food and drink prices were comparable to others as well. We ordered both cold and hot appetizers and the food was great and received great reviews from our guests. The parking is easy and the location is perfect for anyone living in the Germantown/Menomonee Falls area. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I wouldn't hesitate to book another party there. read more

We had our wedding reception here. The price was great, the food was great and the service was great. We had about 130 people at our reception and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. We had Bubs serve appetizers and a lot of people loved the food. The person who ran our reception was amazing and she made sure everything ran smoothly. The bartendars did a great job and no one waited for drinks. Set up was easy and the DJ did a wonderful job picking good music. I have no complaints. This is a great place for a reception and when its over people can go to the main bar if they feel like staying later. The owner is very accomidating and never pressures you to buy more or spend more money. The price of our reception was VERY reasonable which took away the stress of having to find a way to afford it. I can't even find words to express how happy I am with Bubs. But I am going to try. I am from Minnesota and was trying to find a reception venue for my wedding in my price range that would accommodate my Dad's 16 person band. It proved very challenging as, in all honestly, most reception venues are expensive and stuffy. I found Bubs online and when I went to check the place out I fell in love! Scott is absolutely amazing and accommodated my every need to the best of his ability. He really understood that this was my big day and worked very hard to make sure it was special. The food was amazing, and everyone loved having pizza and wings at a wedding! It was so impressive that it was all so good even though we had a pretty large group eating. His staff was the best. The DJ flawlessly filled in during the bands breaks, the wedding coordinator was totally on the ball, and the bartenders were all a ton of fun! I had so many compliments on my wedding, that it was one of the best people had ever been to! Scott REALLY knows how to throw a great party. People didn't start leaving my wedding until after 10:30, even my older relatives! The memories I made at bubs will stay with me forever. read more

You need to stop in to see what Bubs is all about. This place has a lot to offer including four pool tables, two dart boards, live music on Saturdays, and the menu is huge (both food& beer). I hosted my cousins bachelorette party here a few months back. The bouncers at the door never gave us any grief, no one in our group of 30 was over charged on their bill, in addition the bar tenders on staff that night were extremely fun and friendly. The owner Scott made planning the party super easy by always returning my emails promptly. I have since found my self coming back to Bubs typically just for food, but have also been back several times to get rowdy and listen to live music. This place has the best pizza in the area. The buffalo chicken pizza is simply amazing. If you prefer a Wisconsin bar style pizza loaded with cheese this is the place for you. The atmosphere here is that of your typical Irish dive bar. Beer signs on the wall jager bombs "on tap". There is a large dance floor/seating area in the back for live shows. I attended a wedding there on Aug 23rd and it was the worst wedding I had ever been to. I am not sure if the badly decorated and tasteless Irish cupcakes were supplied by the wedding party or the bar but the most pitiful part was the DJ. He kept stopping songs before they finished or barely started and switch to something else. The music choices were terrible. If that would have been my wedding or my son's I would have demanded a partial refund. We left early because he was so bad. You didn't know if you should go out and try dancing because you didn't know what he was going to do next. Terrible bartenders as well! read more

I just had a surprise 30th birthday party for my wife at Bub's on October 8th. Bubs was a great place to throw a party. The food and service was outstanding. They offer three party rooms. I went with the Guisess snug room. Bub's did everything I asked for in preperation for this party. Couldn't of thrown it at a better place. One of my guests left there camera behind and Bub's found it a returned it. That is almost unheard of at a bar these days. I highly recommend Bubs Irish Pub. read more

I was looking for a place to hold an employee going away party. I was not sure how many people were going to be there and I was not having a sit down dinner. I tried several businesses in the area, and all of them ignored me. I called Scott at Bub's and explained what I was looking for. He was GREAT!.He reserved some of the bar tables in the bar area for us. Which is a HUGE AREA. It was a perfect size. With our party we were never in the way of any other people. We were allowed to pull bar tables together and stand or sit and enjoy the gathering. I was greeted at the door by the hostess who was great and helped us with rearranging the tables. It was very nice of Scott and the staff to allow us to bring in some "special" treats for our party. It was a great night and everyone had a blast. We have held our banquet for approximately 125 people here for 6 years now. Every year Bub's goes out of their way to make our party fantastic. Everything is always ready and how we requested it and the staff is very friendly and provide excellent service. Bub's just keeps the food coming for our large group and everyone always has a fantastic time. They go above and beyond in taking care of our needs. This year, they had a sound man stay for the duration of our event to make sure all of our awards ceremony and video presentation went off without a hitch, This is a casual pub with friendly and attentive wait staff and great bar food. Our visit was AWFUL! We had been here one time previously and said we wouldn't go back, but we had a 10 dollar restaurant.com gift certificate and since the weather was awful we said what the heck. So, we gave them another shot and they were sure to disappoint. The food was AWFUL. My wife ordered a reuben with fries and I ordered a burger with fries. Both our fries were served could and the bread on her sandwich was sopping wet. We complained about the fries and the server said she would have new ones made. 15 minutes later and after we both had finished our sandwiches and the appetizer, the fries showed up. Wish I could've ad them with my burger... I ordered a soda which tasted like it was 10 years old. I also ordered a bloody mary which was the highlight of the night, despite being served in a glass that was cracked in 2 places. Very good it was. The place wasn't very inviting either. the benches for the booth seating were ripped and taped up and the bathroom was one of the worst Ive ever seen. The server was very friendly and we felt bad that she was the one who had to deal with the problems instead of the jump doing the crappy cooking. WE WILL NEVER GO HERE TO EAT EVER AGAIN!!! read more

We had our daughter's wedding shower in their hall. Our bartender, Chili, was fabulous! She was accommodating and even decorated the hall with some extra lightning to make it special. We brought in our own food, and had through them a mimosa bar and bloody Mary bar. It was well-stocked and excellent. We could not have asked for a better place to have her shower. read more

My husband found this place while conducting one of the trains that run through the area. He said it looked like a cool place to check out. A week later, we came up there to try some food and drinks. We were not disappointed. We stopped in two nights in a row. Both times, the service was excellent. Things must have really improved since the last reviews were written. It's a bar though, so you can't expect a huge wait staff as if it were some sort of Applebee's. We had food, drinks, and refills in a timely matter. The food was excellent. The buffalo fries were good without being too overpowered for those who are a bit sensitive to stronger flavors. Their new drink, The Hulk, is great and worth a try. It turns from yellow to green within a minute or two after being brought to the table. The atmosphere is great. People are friendly. I recently had my wedding here. I can't say enough! The service was amazing, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was incredible. We had the Boogie Men/Band X as our entertainment and everyone raved about it. :) The whole night was amazing. The staff did everything possible to make the night absolutely amazing. We had nearly 300 guests, used the whole bar as our hall and every guest we talked to thought it was the perfect venue. Those who didn't want to dance, could go to the front bar and talk. Everyone who wanted to dance, had plenty of space, and we were able to accommodate the whole crowd. Called to make a dinner reservation, was told they don't take reservations. Another employee got on the phone and set up the reservation. When we arrived, no menus available as all of the menus were used for a private party in the back room. Two menus located, order placed. Food received over one half hour later, (unusual compared to faster service during previous visits). Marble bread was hard and stale (as it was on our last visit). Soft drinks served in plastic cups. No offer by waitress for drink refills. Use to offer all you care to eat fish fry meal. Waitress said owner went to more expensive fish, and stopped all you care to eat as a customer ate 35 pieces of fish. Very few wait staff, and they were rushing around as if they were understaffed for Good Friday fish fry. When leaving the restaurant, heard another customer complaining to the hostess about the buffet food warmer than the food brought to the table from the kitchen. Was one of our favorite fish fry stops. May have been our last time there......very disappointing. read more

I recently visited Bubs Irish Pub per suggestion of a friend, and WOW what a hidden little nugget that place is!! The place is fantastic and not to mention HUGE!! When I first arrived I was greeted promptly by a lovely brown headed girl who informed me of everything I needed to know, I could eat in the dining room if I so wished or I could order from the bartenders and they would bring it to me if I decided to sit outside of dining. On my way to the bar I witnessed the bartenders dancing up a jig to some music playing and I just loved the vibe I got, got immediate service with a smile from a pretty bartender, got my delicious Rueben in a timely manner, played some bar dice and won, which meant a free shot for me!! Come to find out Bubs has been around for a very long time, and I hope it plans to be around for a long time- I think Ive found my new hangout!! Just threw a surprise 30th birthday for my husband and his friend at Bub's. Scott, the owner, was fabulous about helping me plan and keeping the secret. My budget was small, but boy did I get a lot for my money! The room that I rented accommodated 75-250 people. We ended up having about 140 guests and it was perfect. The flat room fee, which I thought was amazingly affordable (as compared to so many other places I called), included a private bar, bartender, pool table, stage, two TVs (with DVDs), surround sound music and seating and tables for all of my guests. Scott's staff was so helpful. They were organized and had some great suggestions when I got there and was setting up my decorations. They provided table linens, something I completely forgot about, free of charge. I felt very well taken care of. We bought pizzas and unlike a previous review thought they were excellent. In fact my husband couldn't believe how good they were and he's a pizza connoisseur! I would definitely recommend getting pizza there for any kind of occasion. We also bought a half barrel of Miller Light at a fair price. I had so many guests come up to me and tell me what a great place it was and that they would definitely use it in the future. I wouldn't hesitate to call Scott again if I ever need a party room down the road. We had a lovely time and I'm so thankful to have found such a great place to throw my party!! :) read more
