This place is awesome!!! Walk in the door and get hit in the face with that warm, fresh baked bread smell, it's very comforting. I have tried many of the different subs on the menu, but my all time favorite is the Americano. The bread is so nummy fresh and the Wisconsin cheese adds an extra layer of flavor that I can't seem to get enough of. The staff is always friendly and often ask, "How's your day going". It's a nice feeling to actually have a conversation with people that really care about what they are doing. My husband & I heard great reviews off of a local community website and when the weather warmed up, one day I sent him over to Bubs Subs. It was hands down the best place thus far we've found for sub sandwiches. The bread and all the deli meats are so fresh and yummy. The only down fall is that it's kinda pricey for a sub shop. That won't keep us from going back again though, the whole family enjoyed their subs on a very warm night. Totally hits the spot! read more

First off, homemade Italian beef is very good, as is the homemade hot giardenera. The bread is very good as well, not Gonella or Turano, but it holds its own and is fresh. They don't offer you to "dip" the beef in the au jus but you can ask for more au jus (although this should be stated somewhere as I thought I would be charged extra). The prices are double what you will find at Subway for a footlong, but you get higher quality meats and more meat. I wish they had homemade sweet peppers and bigger cups for au jus or serve the beefs in a leak proof boat. We like our beefs juicy! read more

If you ever, ever eat at the Subway across Randall Rd from Bubs Subs, I have just one thing for you: Stop punishing yourself. If you want to have a sub sandwich that adds joy to your life rather than killing it, you need to be eating Bubs. Update. Last night we performed a taste-test with 3 other sub-shops. Bub's Sub's, PotBelly's, Firehouse and Jersey Mike's. We sampled what we thought were each outfits best sub. It was extremely difficult to conclude which one has the best product, but I will tell you that Bub's Sub's and PotBelly's were the top two. I love the 'Wreck' from PotBelly's but I have to give it to Bub's as he makes his Giardiera (sp?) from scratch. And it is fantastic!!! Nice job Bub's. read more

Great spot! My gf and I recently moved here from the city and found them because we were at Home Depot. Starving and leaving the parking lot, I saw the store front and decided to try it out. So happy we did! Great service and the guy explained to us that the large would be good enough for the both of us. But me being me, I decided to get one large sandwich for each of us. What separates this place from most is the quality of the food. Everything is top notch from Krakus ham to real Wisconsin American cheese. There are no shortcuts taken. Not really impressed from the get go. The customer service was outstanding and the young man who helped my friend and I explained everything to us perfectly and showed an interest in how our day was going. However, when it came to the sub, it was average. I personally didn't like the bread because it's incredibly thick and crunchy. You'd think getting it toasted would soften and warm up the bread. The meats on my #12 were pretty good, but I kept getting this powerful parmasan taste like, every other bite -- and parmasan was nowhere on my sub. Can't explain that, but perhaps it was just an off day. Definitely want to give Bubs a second chance despite the high prices. read more

Driving all the way to Portillos in Crystal Lake for an Italian beef doesn't need to happen anymore! First of all, the bread is freshly made and has a nice little toast to it. The Italian beef is well seasoned and extremely moist. The homemade giardiniera is a perfect blend of flavor and spice...it completes the sub! I will be coming back for more in the near future. I used to live in LITH and was back visiting for the holidays so when I saw this new sub shop my dad and I decided to try it. Now I wish I didn't try it because I want more but live 2,000 miles away!!!!! I tried the BLTurkey and got the chipotle mayo, giardinare (sp?), onions, lett, tom and green peppers. One of the things that caught my eye was the fact that they make their turkey themselves so I had to try a turkey sandwich. oh my gosh! This sandwich was love at first bite! It was sooooo incredibly good. The turkey tasted fresh and not slimey like most sandwich shops and the giardinare was super yummy. Even though they weighed the turkey, I still felt like they put a good amount on. The sandwich was huge! I commented to my dad that the sandwiches looked small but luckily it ended up being plenty. The only complaint I would have is that they were a bit pricey. After tasting the sandwich I understood why and feel the prices are warranted but I was still quite shocked. I don't think the price of the small sandwich is that bad when you realize it fills you up except that you also realize it's only for half a sandwich so it's a bit shocking to pay that much for half a sandwich. In my opinion they should make smaller loafs for the small sandwich so that you don't realize they are giving you a half sandwich. It's just that stupid act of watching them cut the loaf in half and putting half of it back that was saddening. Not sure that makes sense. Even with the prices, if I'm in town I will definitely be back! I even told all my friends who live somewhat near LITH to try it out. read more

Probably would have never tried this place, thinking it would be just another sub shop. But decided to try it based on all of the great reviews on Yelp. We went tonight and ordered the El Niño and the spicy grinder sandwich. Can't remember the name. Both sandwiches were great and I remember thinking how good the bread was. There were two young men making the sandwiches and they were helpful. While we were eating we got to meet the owner and he was definitely a charm. I love good local places like this and think they can often times provide a better product and experience than chains. Glad we tried this place. It definitely lived up to its reputation. read more

Wow... This place is freaking awesome. If I was limited to use two words to describe this place it would be 1.Fast 2.Delicious.... Blows the chain sandwich places out of the water. They use a generous amount of deli meat, fresh bread and toppings. Oh and the giardiniera is out of this world! Staff is always friendly and well trained. Bubs Subs is also always very clean. I just wanted to pass along an experience that I had a couple of days ago. My wife and I really enjoy the subs and now I have to say I enjoy the customer attention there too. I was going there to get diner and I had my son with me, we were standing in line and had already ordered and I realized I left the coupon in the car. I asked the man taking the money if I really needed the coupon to get the price, fully accepting to pay full price and I was okay with that. It was my fault I forgot, I just didn't want to get out of line and go get it. Well the attendant offered to follow me to the car and get the coupon after giving me the discounted price, I said yes and thanked him very much. Long story short, they made my meal cheaper and made the experience easier than they needed too. I appriciate that, especially now that I have kids. read more

I've heard about this place from others and I was excited to try it. The people were great. They were very informative, kind, helpful and they were able to answer my questions. I had the mambbo italiano, it's usually served cold, but I had it toasted, with lettuce, olives, onions, peppers, pickles and gardinera (which looked homemade, not sure, but so yummy). I felt that the meat was not as flavorful. I tasted the condiments rather than the actual meat. I will definitely try this place again to get more experience from it. read more

LOVE AT FIRST BITE! This sub shop is an excellent addition to our area. It is better than Algonquin Sub Shop. (though i am a huge fan of ASS too) The Fire Bird and homemade giardiniera are a must.
