The menu can seem a little intimidating and pricey at first, but once the waitress explains that everything is served family style, it makes a lot more sense. What you order is meant to serve about three to four people, and they really mean that. We ordered one main dish along with garlic bread and a couple appetizers.. it was honestly more than enough for the three of us. The vibe of this place feels very old-school. The food genuinely tastes amazing, and considering the portions, the price is actually pretty reasonable. Our waitress was just okay.. nothing bad, but nothing particularly warm/kind either. I've enjoy Buca in Encino, at Universal CityWalk Hollywood, Las Vegas and now in Old Pasadena. Located at the corner of De Lacey Avenue/Green Street BdB - Pasadena is in a great location with street (meter), paid lot or garage parking available. Also only a 10 minute walk from Memorial Park Station. I've strolled by this iconica Italian eatery many times over the years, but have yet to have a full sit down experience with incredible service until recently. We came to celebrate my friend Troy's birthday as a party of 7. We had a great server and some of the best Sangria I've ever had at a Buca. At Buca you can have your fill of Appetizers, Buca Specials, Desserts, Entrees, Lunch Combo (Specials), Pastas, Pizzas, Sides and all the good Beverages. Family friendly with a kids menu also. For eats on the night of Troyica table had the Lasagna, Garlic Bread and the Shrimp Scampi (Linguine). The birthday boy was very happy with the feast and my boyfriend loved all the food. This guy (myself) had a small Mixed Green Salad that was iconic and let me tell you the small is still a very big portion. With great Italian dressing and some of the best veggies. I did consider the Spaghetti Marinara, but with family style portions I wouldn't have been able to finish something meant for many people. Had our fellow veggie friend joined us, the two of us could've taken it on with a shared small salad. Food for next time for sure, more so with awesome bundle deals like their Buca Bundle - Lasagna or Pasta, Salad and Bread for only $40. What a deal!! It says you're only able to do the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, which I'm sure is fine for people who can enjoy it. Loads of vegetarian things by default. I believe they also have a Gluten-Friendly menu. Lots of great rooms, hallways, bar away and even the restrooms are well kept up. The did forget about my simple little awesome green salad initially so I had to wait after everyone was already eating for a good 15 to 20 minutes - I know it was an honest mistake. I've been to this location a few times in the past, mainly for drinks and appetizers at the bar. After my grandfather's burial in 2011 we came here to celebrate his life. The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. It's a great spot for a large gathering. I love the funky décor and the old school Italian photos on the wall. For a chain restaurant, the food is pretty good. I'd pick it over Olive Garden any day. We've also ordered catering from here a few times for large family gatherings. A recent order consisted of: Eggplant Parmigiana, Ravioli al Pomodoro, Chopped Antipasti Salad, Caesar Salad, Mini Meatballs, and Cannolis, & Brownies for dessert. The entrées were hot, the salads were fresh, the desserts were delish, and they also gave us some bread to soak up the sauce. Just one comment about the waitstaff that was cleaning the trash in the bathroom, I told her one of the stalls doesn't have tissue roll- totally ignored me. I told her again, but just left the bathroom with the trash she collected. No acknowledgement or anything, and you can tell she's annoyed. Buca di Beppo is my favorite pasta spot in LA! They make the BEST spicy vodka penne (I usually add chicken to it)!! It's such a big portion since it's a family style restaurant. Enough to fill up both my boyfriend and me. They usually serve complimentary bread with vinegar and olive oil, too! Service is always wonderful. The workers are checking in on tables consistently and are very accommodating with requests. Reservations are available as well, which makes it convenient. Street parking and garage parking is available nearby. If I lived closer, I would go to Buca di Beppo once a week!! Highly recommend! read more

We kept asking for things needed. We kept asking for him to pick up dirty plates, water and napkins. Then we got our food and only it was flavorless. The only thing we loved was the salad. Chicken lemon was flavorless, and chicken parm had no salt. Sad that it wasn't what it used to be. The entire restaurant was so empty! Maybe 5 tables were occupied. That's it! Plenty of tables, and it was actually quite quiet. I went with 2 other friends to celebrate her birthday and she never tried buca before. I've been here several times but never knew what was REALLY good to recommend. We then ordered the meatballs as appetizers, the spicy chicken rigatoni and the baked ziti. So the server did also tell us one pasta is huge and serves 3 people, which we really should have listened lol. We got our order quickly since it wasn't busy, so that was a plus! Between the two pastas, I did enjoy the spicy chicken rigatoni more. Although, it just tastes like pasta that you can make at home. It's simple and large portions. Very family style meal. The ingredients itself do not really stand out, but they're pretty standard. Also having one meatball to yourself was actually a lot lol. Until the point it got cold, it didn't taste that great anymore haha. Overall, Buca di Beppo is a very classic family style restaurant. Although their dishes are pretty standard, they're great for family settings, especially with their large portion sharing sizes. Had lunch specials. 5 Stars: salmon Zero Stars: fettucine too raw Salmon w Fettucine side instead of salad or soup option. Salmon was perfect, good size, tender and fresh tasting. asked for extra fettucine sauce but they forgot, Pasta was way too Al Dente, which means Hard AF, which means it was one degree from raw, so dry and raw, it soaked up all moisture from sauce and hardened into Pasty Hard mound of noodles. Zero Stars: Chicken Limonatta had Absolutely Zero Lemon taste, one super thin chicken breast, it was halved lengthwise and pounded flat, essentially Half a chicken breast. Big disappointment, Salmon had 4 times more meat than this chicken. I was going to complain and ask for Salmon instead, but short on time. came w side of fettucine which had same issues as above. 2 stars: Brownie Ice Cream Dessert -3 Stars for Stale Ass Dry Crunchy Brownie Chunks- we called them Brownie Croutons!!! impressive presentation. Could've been 5 stars. Enough for 4 people. 4 big scoops vanilla x2, chocolate x 2, brownie chunks and whip cream in a big martini glass. But Brownies were STALE & DRY AF!!! Too much for 2 of us, ate half, took rest home quickly to freezer. Would've been 5 stars total, But: 1. chicken totally pissed me off and ruined experience. Come on Buca, do better than That. Either give one whole chicken breast or two of the halved breasts. It was a total rip off and made us feel, "Really? It's a good idea to go with a group of people because their dishes are family-style, meaning they are large and meant to be shared. The environment had comfortable and fun vibe to it, perfect for a get together. Before visiting, keep in mind that you'll need to find street parking. I believe we paid something around $1.50 for 2 hours so it wasn't too bad. - Chicken Carbonara (4.5/5): This was my first time trying the Chicken Carbonara but it was surprisingly really good! I kind of expected it to be on the plainer side but the prosciutto gave it the perfect amount of saltiness. I think next time, I'm going to ask for no peas because i think I didn't like them in this dish. - Caesar Salad (4/5): The salad is pretty good but not mind blowing and the price isn't worth it in my opinion. - Mozzarella Garlic Bread (4.5/5): Super delicious and a must add to your order. This is a great appetizer to start off your meal and to eat with your pasta. One thing though, I think the garlic content is a little bit too much and if they lessened the amount they add on the bread, it would make the dish perfect. - Colossal Brownie Sundae (5/5): Delicious!! The brownie bits had the best consistency and flavor, and the ice cream went really great with it. It was shared among 4 people and it was more than enough to go around. If you sign up for their rewards program, you get a coupon for a free birthday dessert which is what we got :) In conclusion, this NEEDS to be on your list of "places to try" when deciding where to have your next big dinner. Ordered catering to be ready at 1:00 on Sunday, showed up at 1:12 to be told not ready and may be another 15 min. Order was not ready until 2:00 pm. Although apologetic, the host exclaimed that they were short a cook...mind you it's Easter Sunday...I understand maybe running late but an hour? Why not call people to let them know so we are not just sitting there? Especially since the online order was placed the day before? Finally was given the order and left at 2:04 pm. Food was good all except for the lasagna. It had a weird texture and taste with the sauce. I don't think I will order from this establishment again , but word to the wise management... holidays need more staff or call people to let them know and a canoli is not ok for waiting over an hour when it was due. Always love Buca and this was our first visit to this Pasadena branch. Designed like most Buca's, they have the same friendly service. Today we were served by Michelle. She was quick to take our order and fill up our glasses although dinner took a really really long time tonight. I was surprised because it did NOT seem that busy. But still Michelle was great and checking on us throughout the dinner. No matter what we order for dinner, it always starts with the Apple Gorgonzola salad. I wish they made a smaller version because the smallest salad they have is about double what we can eat [for a couple] and does not go home well as leftovers. By the time you get home the lettuce has become mushy so what you don't eat is lost. We ordered the Quattro al Forno which is perfect because it has various items in there that are so good and for different tastes. My wife has very different tastes that I do so this gives us an opportunity to each get something we enjoy. And unlike the salad, it is GREAT as leftovers. This Buca di Beppo is like any other Buca di Beppo so if you love their food you'll love this restaurant. The portions here are very family friendly so be prepared to get a lot of food. I have been here several times and have never had a bad experience the food is good and is really great for graduation events. The street parking is hard to find but the restaurant is by a parking structure that charges a $1 an hour which I love and the restaurant is located by a bunch of businesses if your looking to do some window shopping afterwards.
