I am sorry to say that one of my favorite pasta restaurants feels like it's going out of business. Menu has changed, food tastes like it was microwaved (hot and cold) and nothing tastes fresh. My appetizer tasted like mostly salt. For the same price you can eat at Maggianos or several other Italian restaurants. I used to love it here and the food was abundant and fresh. Have you ever sat at the Kitchen Table? I did and it was awesome. When you make your booking, call the restaurant in the afternoon and see if the Kitchen Table is available. Yes, even for a party of two, you can sit here and watch the kitchen staff preparing meals, plating entrees and have fellow diners walked through the kitchen to their own tables in the "back" of the restaurant. Food service was excellent and the portions are massive. Even the "small" plate is enough for three people. And the two of us had three plates - spaghetti and meatballs (ginormous meatballs!), veal parm and a ziti with sausage and chicken. I usually never leave yelp reviews as I work in customer service but food was great and delicious, The female Bartender was EXTREMELY loud. I couldn't enjoy my conversation or my food fully because I felt as I was being screamed over and yelling was going on with customers back and forth. It made me not want to come back. Been a while but food has consistently been good...even if we have to wait some time to get seated. So much food! Always a take-away with us. Wasn't crazy about the Margherita Pizza, though. There are plenty of other restaurants that do it better. Spaghetti & Meatballs still my favorite but I've tried a few other dishes that I was really impressed with. Five stars for the staff. I was impressed seeing how the mostly young servers interacted with the customers around us. They were all friendly, engaging and attentive to all customers of various ages and ethnicities. Glad our server told us upfront that the dishes serve 3 to 5 people - too much for the two of us to finish. Next time we'll bring at least one hungry friend with us. The menu doesn't offer as much variety as Maggianos - mostly chicken entrees, but we both enjoyed the Italian sausage. Recommend the mild version to really taste the sausage instead of a bunch of added spices. read more

My first time at BD. I really wanted to like this place but i just didn't have a good experience. The lasagna was not good, it tasted bad, frozen store bought would have been better. The garlic bread with cheese was good but nothing special. The sangria was average. Our table cloth had tears in it and the plates look like they needed to be dried off better. Came here for Mother's Day weekend with a big group on a Saturday. We had a table of 13 and luckily we made a reservation! The place was packed. Haven't been to a Buca for years and I know why. The food, restaurant and service was just ok. Just acceptable and definitely has room for improvement. The only positive thing about the restaurant is that it is family style. Everything comes in two sizes, small (3 portions) or large (5 portions) We ordered: -fried calamari -bruschetta -chopped salad -Veal Marsala -Chicken Saltimbocca -Linguine Frutti Di Mare -Baked Ziti I would recommend the calamari and Linguine Frutti Di Mare. The rest of the dishes were about average. I thought the veal itself was good but the Marsala sauce had too much balsamic vinegar and it was too sweet. I don't come here enough to know if that is how it is or we just got a bad batch. The service was ok. It took a little bit to get all our drinks but again it is Mother's Day weekend. Only real complaint is that we had two dirty dishes and the restaurant seemed a little old and needs to be slightly refreshed. The overall value and price of the food was acceptable. It was not horribly overpriced and therefore I give it three stars. read more

Let's get through what I feel are the strong points of this restaurant. The food is actually very good it is miles above and Olive Garden or other Italian chain restaurants. The service when we went was not bad either. Now for the points that they definitely can work out. The prices for this place are astronomical for what you get. I should not spend $100 for two pasta dishes for two people with a salad!! Also I do not like how they try to cram patrons into the small almost bomb shelter looking rooms..With all the pictures and other paraphernalia over the walls he can feel quite claustrophobic and uncomfortable. Because these rooms are shaped like a bomb shelters noise echoes horribly in the room so if you have a lively party in the room with you it can be quite annoying to say the least. But like I always say this is just my opinion go check it out for yourself read more

Really Buca!?!? Constantine did you really just comment that under my review!?!? This has got to be a joke!

I am sad. I used to love BDB. I loved the mixed green salad with Gorgonzola and prosciutto, and that's what I've always gotten, for years, at many Bucas. But Beppo has priced it right out of reason and I can't justify it anymore. A bowl of mostly iceberg lettuce with two pepperoncinis (yes, exactly two,) a few smallish olives (they used to be huge, and plentiful,) and a lot of onion for $16 for the small??? And now an EXTRA $2 for prosciutto and some Gorgonzola (not even a LOT of cheese) for a total of $18? No. Just no. It's ridiculous. Add to that the garlic bread which used to be lusciously loaded with garlic and now just...isn't, for like $8 for a small basket? No. Not even the joy of the Pope Room can make that worthwhile. After a rough start with our rather distracted server (took an hour, no lie, to get bread, wayyyy too long for her to take our orders, and then salads and garlic bread and salads didn't come out as apps but waited for the hot food,) everyone was pretty happy. The manager was great with one friend who had a lot of dietary restrictions, and the gluten-free menu was pretty full of good options. But I thought they had started having some smaller portions, but no; the chicken dish my gluten-free date wanted was $28 for a small, and no one wanted to share it, so he settled for an appetizer. It's just not a good place anymore unless you have a huge group who can all agree on dishes. And the pizza sucked; it was soggy, greasy, nearly cheese-free and not very tasty. I'll be adding some actual decent lettuce, olives and cheese to what's left of my salad because thankfully, I asked for extra dressing. And I'll be adding some garlic and olive oil to my leftover garlic bread to make it good. And I will save my money next time and make my own salad. I can duplicate the dressing, and buy enough stuff for 5 equally large salads for the price of one at BP It's a shame when places change for the worse. read more

So glad we gave it a try!!!! We had a fabulous family dinner celebrating my daughter in-laws birthday on Christmas Day. The service was great and the manager stopped by as well. We ordered too much food but she warned me. It's ok we will have fun eating the leftovers. We started with calamari, caprese salad, and cheesy garlic bread. We had lasagna, spicy chicken rigatoni, fettuccine Alfredo, spaghetti and meat sauce and also sausage and peppers. My favorite the lasagna and rigatoni for sure, yum!!! Then for dessert we ordered the 4 dessert platter and the gelato, wow!!! Best tiramisu ever and cheese cake to die for! Gelato was good but I would pass next time and fill up on my favorites. So disappointed! I had been here 14 yrs ago for my nephew's graduation & recalled that it was family style. Portions & food were good then however after tonight's visit I won't be returning. Unfortunately our meal was subpar. Ordered the apple gorgonzola salad & the lettuce was wilted to the point of me questioning if the lettuce was old or sat in water for hours before serving~I conclude old lettuce. The Chicken Marsala had a sweet flavor & altho the chicken breast was tender it lacked any flavor. To which I had to add salt & pepper to make it edible. Needless to say after 4 bites I decided to just give up nothing could help me to want to finish. I'm not quite sure if this was an off night or chefs have changed since my last visit in 2009 (quite possibly) but THIS experience was enough to warrant not a repeat visit. When we got the bill it came to $103 for the wilted lettuce; flavorless chicken & two cocktails that unfortunately couldn't numb the pain of a lackluster dinner. I'm left hungry; disappointed & angry at myself for suggesting Buca as a choice for dinner. I don't normally leave a bad review if my restaurant choices aren't favorable but the fact that NOTHING made up for the other prompts me to write this! Food was pretty good, but their version of "family style" leaves a little to be desired. You either can get food for 3 (small) or 5 (large). Not ideal for couples or picky eaters. We had $20-ish "small" fried mac and cheese, which was basically 12 quarter sized balls of mac and cheese. They were ok, but way overpriced for what they were. We ordered small garlic bread, which could feed a small country and a small caesar salad, which was the only appropriate sized dish. The entree is where the wheel fell off the wagon. We were a group of 3 and ordered the small chicken stuffed with cheese. It came out on a platter with 3 fairly bland breaded chicken cutlets folded into slabs, smaller than a McChicken patty and about 10 times the price. I could have eaten all three. We also ordered the fettuccini Alfredo, which again was OK, but a little over cooked and underwhelming in flavor. We ordered a large, which was so big, I'll be eating it for a week! Service was meehhh, but we really didn't mind. The real fun of the evening was when you get the bill......good Jeezus!!! $163 for 3 people to eat OK Italian food, with no alcohol, and everyone in the party had to make exceptions as to what they wanted to eat, due to the silly family style rule. I've had great experiences at this chain. My Girlfriend never had the experience and enjoyed the newness of this dinner. I had a few issue this time that I had to mention in this review. First, We order chicken fettuccine Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce was awesome, the chicken was nice... The noodles was too chewy, barely done! No new plates was given after our salad (Cesar salad) No napkins ,waitress didn't ask me did I want an refill, after I ask for one , no new glass. Asked for to-go containers got two small containers and had to smush food to make fit, while other guest received right size containers. Our server was just okay!!!! The three stars is given because despite these mistakes because my lady had a decent time. I do know this establishment can do much better!!!! This experience made me feel like this spot was just an updated Olive Garden and I know it should be much more! Was able to make reservations easily for 8 pm in Saturday night for 2. Had to wait for 10 mins even though I had reservations but not bad. The place is pretty big on the inside and it looked like the rooms were decorated a little differently from one another. Covid-wise, it seemed like all the protocols were being followed for a safe experience with masks required except when seated at the table and at least every other table was empty so being exposed to others was not an issue. Everything is family style so get ready to eat! We ordered the shrimp fettuccine alfredo and the shrimp rigattoni and the conoli dessert. I also subscribed to their mailing list and got a $10 off $30 and a free pasta with any dine in so I thought it was a pretty good deal for the amount of good food. Needless to say I ended up taking a lot of the food home. The taste was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The service was good and we liked our waitress. 5 STARS... ALL THE WAY!!! I hosted my father's 75th Surprise Birthday at Buca yesterday and it was a HIT!!! Two weeks ago, I contacted Buca about setting up a reservation for about 20 people and had so much anxiety about not being able to find the space or specific time time that I needed at such a great restaurant! Upon calling, I was transferred to and worked with Morgan, who was a breath of fresh air! She was so calm, kind and patient, and answered every question I had... and then some! Knowing that it was a SURPRISE PARTY, she left specific instructions with the hosts to not only have a host notify the party that the "surprise guest" had arrived, but had another host escort "the guest of honor" to the party!!! HERE'S THE BEST PART (and THANK YOU SO MUCH MORGAN AND BUCA STAFF)!! The guest of honor was brought back to a table in a room that had a divider separating two rooms. Without a clue in the world by the guest of honor, the divider was opened up TO EVERYONE CELEBRATING!!! The 30 seconds of shock I captured on video from my dad's face (the guest of honor) IS PRICELESS!!! He was so overwhelmed with everything, it brought tears to his eyes!!! Buca di Beppo I APPLAUD YOU!!! Time to eat and celebrate! Our server bent over backwards to TAKE CARE OF EVERYONE! I generally enjoy Buca di Beppo, but it isn't what is used to be. I still enjoy the the atmosphere and the way the restaurant is decorated. All the walls and various trinkets make this a fun dining experience or interesting at the very least. It has gotten too expensive to eat here though. Even with the shared portions and frequent coupons offered it is too much for what it is. They are fairly stingy with coupons too. They wouldn't take a coupon that had only been expired for like a week as a lot of other places will. Aside from that the food is still good! I have loved the calamari and the garlic bread as appetizers. We have switched up the main course when we have gone, but each time has had pretty good results. We had dessert here once or twice too and that was also good! We almost always end up with leftovers, because it is a lot of food. I'm not a fan of the family style portions, and wished they offered smaller dishes. I used to be more of a fan, but it's not a place we really go to often now on account of the decline in value. read more

OMG! Okay I ate here the other day and had fettuccini and chicken Marsala. Fettuccini was dry and bland. Lacked flavor. Not enough sauce. Chicken Marsala tasted like I was eating cough syrup. No joke. Wait staff wasn't helpful. The manager was rude and just sat at the bar ignoring me as I tried to get his attention to ask him a question about the meal. Their prices are off the chart. In fact, prices are ridiculously pricey for what they cook. I don't think the chef knows how to cook. If the only things that are tasty are the garlic bread or cheesecake you have to ask yourself if it's worth eating at Puka You Betcha! After eating at this restaurant I wanted to stick my fingers down my throat to induce vomiting but wasn't lucky enough to pull it off. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant enough to give it 2 stars. Sad but oh so true. Ate at the Lombard location. Ambiance and service were great. Food was a disappointment. Lasagna, my go-to dish at any Italian restaurant, was the worst I ever had. It didn't look good, and the sauce was kind of dried out. Chicken parmesan was just ok. Stuffed mushrooms were kind of weird-tasting and undercooked. We used to eat at Buca restaurants about a dozen years ago, it was much better back then. The prices are shockingly high, not enough to justify portions that are not as big as they used to be. We've paid less at top-tier Italian restaurants, which this is not. This is one of worst values for my money I ever spent at a restaurant. read more
