As always this place amazes me every time. I been coming here a long time and never been disappointed with anything. The energy is always positive, runs smoothly, the food is plentiful and divine. Today I tried something new which was Pappardelle Bolognese. This thing is over the top full of blending of great flavors. Tender beef, pasta, and vegetables like a well seasoned orchestra. All the food was well cooked and lasted for a few days. They make great breads here. Sometimes I order several kinds on my orders. We decided to venture out for dinner tonight and try Buca di Beppo! Just the two of us walking into a family-style Italian restaurant was kind of funny because, well... they don't believe in small portions! The atmosphere was so much fun. The restaurant is decorated with all kinds of quirky Italian-inspired touches, and having Frank Sinatra playing in the background really added to the whole experience. It felt like we stepped into a little Italian dinner party. The portions are HUGE, especially when there are only two people at the table! We definitely ordered more food than we could possibly eat in one sitting, but thankfully that meant we went home with plenty of leftovers. And honestly, I'm not complaining about having tomorrow's dinner already taken care of! Our service was quick and attentive without making us feel rushed, which I really appreciated. We had a relaxed dinner, enjoyed the atmosphere, ate way too much, and left with full bellies and a bag of leftovers. Overall, it was a fun night out with good food, a unique atmosphere, and plenty of leftovers to keep the Italian dinner party going tomorrow! 6/28/26 Today we had 12 Lunch Bunch friends go to Buca di Beppo for lunch. Our server was Hunter and he did a really great job! He had tables set up when we got there, waters, silverware, bread, plates. etc. He had been our server before and was really top notch, so we were happy to see him as our server today and to introduce him to our friends. We were in the big party room, until about the end of our meal. We were really hungry and we were happy that the extra table Hunter had set up had extra bread in case we had extra people. There was a special Bucca Bundle where it was $10/Person (Party Of 4). We had about 4-5 couples take advantage of it. There were 3 choices of pasta in that bundle. You could get Lasagna, Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, and Fettuccini Alfredo. Phil & I went ahead and had chicken added to the bowl for just $8.49 extra. It was really worth it. The chicken made the Fettuccine Alfredo outstanding. Then those that got the Buca Bundle also got a choice of a Caesar Salad or a Mixed Green Salad. We chose the Caesar Salad. It was outstanding! The lettuce was fresh and covered with Parmesan cheese and then it was covered with shredded mozzarella cheese. The Caesar dressing was served on the side and I enjoyed that. We also got a platter of garlic bread to pass around. Hunter took care of us the whole time. He was fantastic. Our food was delicious and since the portions were so large, we loved that we had leftovers for two more meals. We really enjoyed our time together. I ate here with the family and we were all super pleased they had a special that fed all four of us for 50 bucks! We still had leftovers to take home to boot. Without the special it costs more, but you are sure to have a lot left to take. We also had great service and the decor is loads of fun. Visited for the first time Sunday and my family and I did the 4 person meal for $49! It came with salad, bread, a protein and a pasta. We got the mixed green salad which I personally did not try because I'm very particular about my salads, but I dove right in with the bread and it was amazing! I'm a big bread person and can usually eat quite a bit of it but this bread filled me up very quickly and I couldn't even eat two pieces. For the protein, we got chicken Parmesan, which I can feel hit or miss about but it was amazing! Truthfully everything about it was perfect. For pasta, we did the vodka penne and it was also phenomenal. To say I was impressed is an understatement. We also got a sangria pitcher and it was super yummy and also served 4 people about 3 glasses or so each for $30 which is a good deal! Buca just isn't what it used to be. 3 of us showed up at 6:15pm on a Tuesday night and NOT A SINGLE customer was there. Completely empty restaurant. Eventually, 2 other people showed up and we were the only 5 people there the whole time. When we walked into the restaurant, the host took us back and the restaurant was getting warmer and warmer. He sat us in a booth (the room was literally 85 degrees) that had a heater blowing full blast on it - so much that the seats felt like car seats that had been sitting in the sun all day. It was miserable. Our server came over and I asked if there was any way to turn the air down and she said they can't or "it will freeze." We asked if we could move somewhere cooler in the restaurant and she took us to a different area that was at least 10 degrees cooler. I have no idea why the host originally sat us in the hottest seat in the (empty) house. Moving on, the food here is just terrible. The ceasar salad tasted cheap. It wasn't because of the service they are always friendly and very efficient. It couldn't possibly be the food it was delicious. So the reason I rarely visit is the silly portion choices with just two people dinning doesn't work so well costing 65 dollars for a pasta dish and a side of brussel sprouts. While dining at Buca di Beppo, my party witnessed a black female server calmly question a white male server about table assignments. The discussion did not appear confrontational or argumentative. Later, the male server loudly and aggressively yelled at her from the kitchen area in a manner that could be heard throughout the restaurant while she was trying to explain the menu to us. An argument followed, during which we heard him calling her derogatory names, including 'bitch' and 'whore,' and threatening to slap her. The server returned to our table visibly upset but remained professional and apologized for the disruption. Shortly afterward, she informed us that management had terminated her employment, reassigned her tables to the male server involved in the altercation, and instructed her to leave. After she was removed from the restaurant not one single person came to check on us at all. However the GM, Informed her not to collect payment from us & if she did she would have her trespassed from the restaurant. From what my party personally witnessed, the male server remained employed and continued working. The situation left us extremely grossed out about how the situation was handled. read more

For chain Italian restaurants this is one of my favorites. I've visited this location since I was a kid. The food is always outstanding and the portions are great. I love the ambiance as it's a reflection and slight parody of Italian culture but you absolutely love to see it! Servers are always very friendly and speedy here. Only reason I'm giving this a 4 star review really is because they've taken many things off of their menu in the last few years and raised the prices on many longstanding items. read more

For the past 11 years a group of 14 neighbors have a tradition of meeting at the Pope Room at the Buca di Beppo on S Hurstbourne Pkwy. The room holds 14 and have always needed a minimum of 12 to secure the room. We have always filled it. We made our reservation for 14 in the Pope Room three weeks ago. Confirmed two days prior. We all showed up on time and was told a party was in the Pope Room since 3pm. Our reservation was at 7pm. When we personally checked they were serving the entrees. Needless to say the party was not there at 3pm. Was now told you cannot reserve the Pope Room even though they took our specific reservation and confirmed. Also was told one person could now take the 14 person room. Very solid and well thought out managing there. Through the entire process the manager never owned the miscommunication nor showed any empathy to our group and in fact was very cold and rude and suggested we go somewhere else. As we all know Bucca is struggling nationally and if last nights environment is a sign of what's to come, that location will be closed by next year. My family and I came here tonight for Dinner. When we came in there was a lengthy discussion between the two people at the Front where to seat us. We were then lead to the BAR booth where two employees were behind bar and what ever they were doing was noisy. The 4 menus were placed in a booth right next to them. I mentioned to individual that I wished not to sit in bar area. I liked to sit in mean area where others were seated. After being told to wait(rudely) we were led to main area. Even though others were sitting there, no servers were to be seen. We sat down and waited. I saw other servers in other area but none came over. We went last night for dinner. The food was fantastic! No complaints there. The server was overbooked and running around while 3 to 4 other sstaff members were standing around chachatting. I felt so bad for the server. We ordered before a bigger table but got our food way later. We were there roughly 4 hours. The music was nice. The decor needs a deep clean though. The carpet was definitely decades old. It started coming up, fray and the stains were the worse. Took my mother here for mother's day. We sat in the kitchen which is awesome!!! We tried everything. Trio appetizer (spicy shrimp, mozzarella bites, and fried calamari) bruschetta is a must!!! I was recommended by a handful of people to try this place and was severely underwhelmed. Though the service was amazing, the price and quality of food just didn't meet my expectations. This restaurant is pricey, so I expected the food to be amazing... sadly, it was not. We went at 6:30pm on a Tuesday evening, for reference. We started with the fried mozzarella.. it was ok - arrived room temperature and came out within ~2-3 minutes of us ordering.... ($22). The garden salad was also ok.. dressing is not homemade (nor fresh) and both (Italian vinaigrette & Caesar) were gelatinous ($23). The penne Alla vodka lacked basic seasoning & was bland ($28). The chicken parmigiana was overcooked and did not have adequate sauce/cheese, so it was like eating a fried chicken patty ($33). I will not be going back. read more

This was an extremely disappointing experience! I made the res & called to confirm bc it was for the "kitchen table". The very sweet woman I spoke w/ confirmed & said it would be rather loud, but I assured her we were ok w/ that & wanted the experience. She then refilled our waters, for the first & last time & said our salad would be about 20 min because the kitchen was backed up. She wasn't wrong. The salad was great! We a aw my husband's lasagna come up & sit in the window for 20 min, she brought it over and then brought my chicken 7 min later. We gently reminded her about the broccoli & eventually received it. Although it was steaming on the outside, the inside was cold & raw and the lasagna was cold as well. We sent the broccoli back, which they took off the bill, AFTER the hostess came & very shortly said "heard you didn't care for it" welll it wasn't cooked! We never received bread, our salad plates never cleared and drinks never refilled after they sat empty before our dinners arrived. It was the last time my mother and my wife's grandmother were together. So it has a special place in our family. We started in the Chicago suburb area when we lived in there. Since then, we have dined at Buca's in Milwaukee, WI; Los Angeles, California (before they closed them); various locations throughout Florida, Texas, and Georgia. With that said...this has been by far the worst experience of our life. REVIEW OF SERVICE - The hostess was very friendly and we were seated immediately. - Our server, Savanah, was very rushed with us (I am not sure if she had a larger table or something). Literally the server next to us, Charley, attempted to cover for her (he was brilliant. However, we told him to take care of his tables and we would be ok). She stared out ok but, we ordered calamari but she convinced us to purchase the appetizer trio (shrimp, fried cheese, and calamari. The fried cheese and calamari were cold. The cheese was still solid on the inside. We told her, she then told us, "I literally saw them plate this" I asked did it come from a warmer or fresh out of the oil? Or, did you see the shrimp (the only hot item), come out of the oil and everything else was already plated? After that, she finally decided to ask if we wanted to remove it from the bill or have them prepare it again. I asked if they would make it fresh. And I apologized profusely (we are not those type of people). - Once she brought the new dish, the marinara was not in a dish but in a small plastic ramekin. Far from enough for the amount of food provided with the trio and less than a third of what was previously provided. - It got to the point we just asked for the check (we were there less than 30 minutes). Savannah brought the check then began clearing the table...we were still eating, food on the plates and she picked them up. REVIEW OF FOOD - Every dish we ordered was cold (not being overly critical but literally every dish) - The stuffed shells were to have Alfredo on top and bedded in marinara. There was very little marinara and the Alfredo was virtually absent. - The stuffing in the shells had not been melted. I took my son to Buca di Beppo for his birthday. We were a party of four and ordered a ton of food. We did not realize the portions were family style lol the waiter did mention it to us, but we thought he was talking about the appetizers. All of the food was absolutely wonderful and there was a ton of it. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. They brought out an enormous birthday dessert, which was awesome. We very much enjoyed your visit and we took home food and have leftovers for two days! We will definitely go there again. I want to love this place, but - beyond the charming wall decor - there isn't much to be excited about.   Buca has been around for a long time.  In my life, I'd say I've been here 15-20 times.  I was introduced to calamari here twenty years ago! Though it's given me some fond memories, my teenage taste buds have since become more refined.  Adult me can objectively see this establishment for what it is: below-average Italian food at higher than average prices. I stopped in recently for old time's sake and the service was lackluster.  The aforementioned calamari is unremarkable, and I was disappointed with my spaghetti and meatballs.  I ordered it based on the positive feedback I observed in other Yelp reviews.  Personally, I found their red sauce lacking depth and nuance, the noodles were a touch overcooked, and the meatballs - while large - were otherwise very plain. I'd suggest dropping in for slice of cheesecake so that you can enjoy the hundreds of quirky photographs lining the walls.  Strip away these trappings, though, and you merely have an improved Fazoli's. These days, Louisville has much better options for Italian food.  Come Back Inn, Grassa Gramma, and Silvio's are superior alternatives that spring to mind. read more

We won't be coming back. The restaurant was nearly empty when we came in at 2pm for our reservation for 15 people. Despite the fact that there were hardly any customers in there, service was very slow. Like 30 minutes before we all had our drinks even. The whole meal took about 2 hours. The food was very mid. Again nearly empty restaurant, and no one received hot food, it was all lukewarm. Our lasagna was dried out on the sides like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. We sat there with empty water glasses and not a server in sight. In fact, my aunt went to find the restroom and saw a whole bunch of servers (including ours) sitting at the bar chatting. It'd be different if they were busy and having a hard time keeping up, but that was definitely not the case. We had arranged in advance to bring in a cookie cake and when it came time to serve it, we asked for more plates and once it became evident those weren't coming, we grabbed some off the fully set table next to us, and found the table to be oily and dirty. Several things around the restaurant were dirty in fact, particularly the restrooms, clumps of hair and dirt along the edges and corners, looking like it hadn't been properly cleaned in some time That aside, while we were cutting the cookie cake, our server came over and said his manager wanted to know if she could have a piece of our cookie cake. Didn't offer to bring us the plates or help serve it, just wanted some of our cake. I stated we didn't have enough as we had 15 people eating a cookie cake. The server repeated that his manager had just wanted him to ask. I found this pretty inappropriate to be honest, I was completely taken aback. Not like the manager had even bothered to come by and check on the table whose cake she was asking to share. My husband felt guilty and ended up taking the server our last piece to give to the manager. Would've been nice if she'd stopped by or offered a discount, but that didn't happen. read more
