Still 5 stars in my book! Great ambience (the fresh cut flowers in the restrooms are a nice touch), helpful and friendly staff, and the food is always excellent. We enjoy sitting at the bar and starting with the sangria. It's unlike other sangria I've had, but very tasty and potent. They also have a nice wine list. The menu has a large variety of tapas to pick from ranging from meats and cheese, seafood dishes, duck, boar, pork belly, etc. The bacon wrapped dates and hongos (favorite thing on the menu) continue to be a must order for us, followed closely by the duck and pork belly. Honestly everything we have tried has exceeded expectations. We are glad to have it in the neighborhood! read more

i feel sad to be this harsh but buceo 95 deserves negative stars. i have lived and travelled in spain, as well as eaten catalan relatives' home cooking for many years, and buceo 95 was as inauthentic as it was intolerable : -the octopus tasted EXTREMELY fishy and unfresh, as if it had been frozen and defrosted multiple times and was not safe to eat. it was genuinely inedible. -the tortilla was served hot, but the potatoes inside it were ice cold. nasty. -the meatballs were rubbery and....grainy? -the cauliflower was perfectly edible but exceedingly disappointing. it had simply been boiled and smothered with a sauce so it lacked texture or excitement. wine was fine. service was fine. location/outdoor seating is great. but do yourself a favor and go somewhere where food quality is valued. read more

Hands down my favorite restaurant in NYC. First came to this quaint neighborhood eatery back in 2017, and have been coming back on a regular basis ever since (including the night I got engaged). The staff is phenomenal- so friendly, informative, and personal with giving recommendations if asked. The aesthetic is top notch, super cozy and romantic. And the food, where to begin. The flavors are amazingly fresh and bold, and always reliable. Although these are tapas portions, we always leave so happy and full. The garlic shrimp is top notch, as are the bacon wrapped dates..and not to mention the complimentary (Amy's) bread and powerful olive oil. 100/10 would recommend this neighbor gem. read more

This is the Tempranillo Rose... I did not order. I asked for Vina white wine from Rioja. I love how the server told me that the one I initially ordered isn't that good like as if that was going to make the mistake okay. He suggested to take it back. I told him I don't drink rose but that I will drink it because I didn't want another fuck up or for this wine to go a waste. The wine isn't bad, reminds me of Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, NZ.. in the sense of crisp finish taste but not what I requested. My friend has been here and was dying to go again so we finally made the trip. It had incredible food, great staff (we had a flight later in the day, and they sped up service and brought out our food really fast) and a really cool vibe. I tried the goat cheese croquettes, bacon wrapped dates, baked eggplant and octopus. The goat cheese croquettes were easily my favorite - they're served with a sweet sauce made from strawberries and honey. I think the bacon-wrapped dates could have been a bit better. They had an amazing flavor, but were not as crispy as previous ones I've tried. But on the whole, it was a really positive experience. Stopped by for a glass of wine and sherry nightcap at the bar on my most recent visit. Ambiance inside was lovely. Have ordered some light bites on a previous visit which were also quite good. 5 stars for the food. I had to knock one star off for the seating. It was pretty awful. My travel buddy and I hit this spot up because we weren't super hungry but we still wanted to have a dinner before we retired for the night. We had a little bit of a difficult time finding it because I found it on Yelp and was looking for the name - But the restaurant itself doesn't say Buceo 95 outside... It says "Tapas" though. Sort of weird. We went in and it was quite packed. They had several reserved tables and one in the corner. We took it but we had no room to sit... She kept getting hit by the door and I couldn't get my legs under the table. I am not a very big person, so I can't imagine who they thought they would be able to seat there comfortably. So we asked for another table and by this time other folks had left and they were able to accommodate us. We ordered 2 apps - An eggplant spread and the roasted cauliflower. The eggplant was good but the cauliflower was to die for! There were bits of I want to say pancetta and figs. I love figs! Since the food was so good, we decided on a getting the buffalo sliders as well. So juicy and delicious. The drinks here were super pricey. We ordered a "pitcher" of sangria, which was more like a third or a half of a pitcher. (I am thinking maybe 3 wine glasses worth of sangria.) It was okay sangria - They had apples in it and a few other fruits, but not particularly great. They brought around a roasted baby pig to show us, but apparently it was a special order thing that we couldn't get unless we ordered in advance. That was a little sad because that looked sooooooo good! Oh well. Something to look forward to if I am ever in the area again. :) read more

Delicious tapas! Loved just about everything. The Spicy Margaritas were AMAZING. The staff was friendly.

We were in the mood for some tapas and decided to try out Buceo. We arrived on a Saturday night and we were asked whether we wanted inside or outside, we opted for outside since it was a beautiful summer night. We were then greeted by our served Kylee who gave us our menus and took our drink order. We went with the sangria & Limonada De Mencia to start our night, the sangria was good but the limonada (lemonade + red wine) was truly delicious. Next time I visit, this is all I'm ordering! We had quite some tapas and they were all amazingly delicious. They went like this... Croquetas De Queso: Exquisite! Goat cheese in a lightly breaded and fried tapas, served in a bed of strawberry jam. This was quite delicious and flavorful, so do not skip! Gambas Al Ajillo: This garlic shrimp was beyond yummy, make sure to soak the bread in the sauce and get ready to want so much more! Paella: Could be a bit more flavorful, they do not skimp on the seafood but the rice was a bit bland. Expected more from this but it was just okay. I'll skip this one next time. Costillas De Cordero: BEST TAPAS HERE! These lamb chops were ordered medium rare and they were cooked perfectly. They were served with this honey mustard peach sauce that was to die for. Albeit, a bit pricey (20$) but completely worth it. Dátiles: this is always our favorite tapas anywhere but here they were also insanely delicious. Very fresh and the bacon was cooked to perfection. Overall, a wonderful night with excellent service. Kylee was amazing at her job and made sure we were always taken care of, she exceeded at her job and made us want to return here. Okay okay...I know this is my third update review of this place but I seriously can't get enough (Plus, it's one of the few good Tapas restaurants near me.) Here's the new dishes I tried that YOU MUST try if you go...repeat after me, "I will try these dishes when I go." Good boy/girl!! 1) Tortilla Española potatoe omelet with caramelized onions - It's a staple tapas dish but Buceo definitely puts their own swing on it!! 2) Pinchos Morunos Moorish Chicken Kabobs with cumin - I just discovered cumin in my own cooking and love it!!! The chick was well seasoned and tender. AND THE SPECIALS!! Dum dum dummmm..... 1) Squash Flower w/Goat Cheese - Yea, I know what you're thinking. "What the heck is that?" Whatever it was it was amazingly lightly fried and melted in my mouth. These are limited each night so order two for the table and you won't be sorry! 2) Corn with Paprika - Think that great Mexican corn you can get at Citi Field, expect it's a loose corn minus the cob!! So much easier to devour and not look like a slob! I would not recommend - Pimientos de Padrón Galician fried green peppers - if you're watching your sodium intake. The dish is typically salty but Buceo's version is OVERKILL. I sent this plate back because I couldn't deal. Great service, Yoofrey was our guy this time around, and beautiful, dimly lit, small restaurant. It's JUMPING on the weekends so get there early - they don't take reservations for parties less than 6. ENJOY!! read more

The Upper West Side does it again with yet another wonderful wine and tapas bar. I've been here twice now - once with a few friends and once on a date - both experiences were quite enjoyable (though, my wallet is not too pleased). This is a cozy, intimate spot that's a must-try if you like classic Spanish tapas. One downside is the price - it's easy to spend a LOT here without realizing it. The food is delicious, but I don't think the price is consistent with the quality/portion sizes you get. But onto some highlights... Food: Between my two visits, I can speak to: -the Calamari (comes with roasted red pepper almond sauce that is delightful) -the Shrimp (pretty basic, very tasty) -the Brussels Sprouts (comes with currants that are delicious on their own and even better when paired with the brussels sprouts) -the Mushrooms (Decent but not the best mushrooms I've ever had - I'm a huge mushroom lover though, so I've ordered mushrooms at just about every tapas bar I've been to) -the Cumin Chicken Kabobs (nothing special, but not bad) -Grilled Baby Octopus (served w/ lemon aleppo polenta, glazed celery, parsley oil - if you like octopus, this should definitely be on your radar, YUM) Wine: -Both times I've been here I've ordered medium-bodied reds. Couldn't tell you the region or the name, but both were great. Service: Efficient and pleasant. Bartender was quick to refill both wine and water glasses and our food came out as quickly as it possibly could. Two thumbs up there. One more good note: The host here is very personable and will check in with your party once or twice throughout the night to make sure everything is going well. Definitely adds to the whole wine bar experience. Ambiance: Very intimate. It can get a bit loud during prime dining hours, but it mellows out around 9/9:30. And as friendly as this place is, between the food, wine and the occasional cramped table, probably not the best idea to bring along the kids for this one. Found Buceo 95 through the app Seated. While service was nice although in some ways overly attentive, I was disappointed by the lack of complexity of the food and small portion size for the somewhat hefty price. We started with the croquettes with strawberry purée ($12) and while tasty it felt more like a dessert; the saltiness of the fried bits didn't create enough interest for this dish and I feel like the addition of balsamic or something else sour or bitter could've elevated it a lot. The roasted eggplant dish ($13) was also decent, it came out hot and fresh but again was quite one dimensional, you mostly tasted the garlic and cheese on top. It was not brought out with bread so we had to ask for more. Not pictured is the skirt steak which was good but a pretty small portion for the price ($19), there were only 4 or 5 pieces that were like two bites each. I also included a pic of the decor on the windows... while I'm not afraid to admit I'm a proud Democrat it was kind of off putting to have dozens of POTUS heads smirking at you, but otherwise the ambiance was nice. Overall I feel like I have been to more creative tapas places and this more traditional spot didn't blow me away. read more

Came in before a show (Eric Idle) at nearby Symphony Space and had an excellent meal. It's tapas so don't expect large portions as you'll spend $$$ if you want to get really full. Small place with patio so not really for large groups unless you want to be packed in like sardines (which were on the menu if I recall). Loved the Wild Boar $20.00 (but not nearly enough for our party of 4 -- so only two people got to taste it). Shaved Brussels were also excellent. I like the fact they have "Quartinos" of wine so you get a bit more than just a glass. read more

We live walking distance and have noticed Buceo 95 but never got around to trying it.....until last night. We worked so late making dinner was unappealing and when we searched, we found Buceo 95 is open daily from 5 to midnight !! Well, since Covid, no one is open that late on a weekday night, but I called to confirm and there were open. We arrived at 11 and the restaurant was pretty quiet, but the waiter assured us that it was fine and that we could have any of the tapas on the menu that we wanted. We ordered baby scallops with artichokes and duck breast with peaches. We were very hungry at this point and the dishes came very quickly. The staff was attentive and thorough, I got an excellent wine recommendation as I was unfamiliar with the wines offered. The dishes were absolutely delicious -- baby scallops pair perfectly with artichokes, the broth was flavorful with hints of both. The duck breast was a generous portion and it was great to have duck with something other than oranges, and in fact, cooked fresh peaches are perfect with duck. We had an excellent dessert, bittersweet chocolate with fried chimichangas which were perfectly made. By the time we finished, it was nearly midnight, but never once did the staff make us feel rushed. When asked, they did say that this being a weekday night in August, if the restaurant is empty, they sometimes might close early, but we had called, they expected us and we were very welcome. Everyone has had the experience of having the staff close up around you when you come late in the evening, even when you have been assured that the restaurant is open. That can be very uncomfortable, it makes you feel rushed and the meal less enjoyable. But Buceo 95 thinks all customers are valuable at whatever time they are eating. Everything about this was excellent, including the prices, and we cannot wait to come back and try other tapas....a perfect late night meal. You don't overeat late at night and it is a great experience. Thank you Buceo 95....and we like your Ukranian flags too. read more

Ate here for the first time recently. The food was delicious, but good Lord it was slow. We sat down around 7:20 and ordered five plates: two vegetables, a fish, and two meats. The vegetables came first; we polished them off, then waited a very long time before the anchovies eventually appeared. There was another terribly long wait, and then one of the meat plates appeared. We finished it, and again we sat and sat. By now it was 9:05, and we still hadn't received our last meat plate. The wait staff were very friendly, but they seemed as surprised as we were that the food still hadn't arrived. They went off in search of it and managed to produce it without too much more waiting, but the meal still took a full two hours. (We decided to pass on dessert, because we wanted to be home before midnight.) Everything we ate was very good -- it's a shame that the extreme slowness of the service put such a damper on things. It was fortunate that we didn't have to be anywhere afterwards. I would have given four or five stars if the food had come out at anything approaching a normal pace. read more

Mediocre fare and service. The restaurant seems to be popular but we were disappointed with the food. The patatas bravas was fine, the garlic shrimp did not taste fresh ( more like frozen cooked shrimp) seeped in oil and garlic- no flavor at all. Goat cheese croquettas were bland sadly. They forgot the stuffed chicken jamon and when it arrived ( after a reminder from us!), it was so salty and dry that we could not enjoy it so sent it back! We decided to try the churros for dessert and it took a long time for them to arrive and when thy did , they were disappointingly hard and crunchy ( not soft on the inside as churros should be!) with no flavor of cinnamon at all. Overall- the food was overpriced for the quality and the service was not great. We love tapas but will not be back to Vins Tapas/ Buceo 95. read more

Buceo 95 has been one of my go-to restaurants for years. I used to live just down the block from it, and considered myself blessed to have such a great place close by. Just about everything there is amazing! The pan con tomate is better than anywhere else I've had it. The bacon wrapped dates are a delight. The lamb sliders, the shaved Brussels sprouts, the fritters... I could go on and on. The only thing I've ever had there that I don't like are the chips, because I don't care for how they're seasoned (but my girlfriend thinks they're great). And don't forget to save room for dessert! They have something called torrija that I've never had anywhere else, and love - it's somewhere between a cake and a bread pudding-ish/French toast-ish thing, and I love it! Now take all that, and combine it with a top-notch wine bar. They've got a good selection, and the manager and staff are great at talking you through possibilities if you're not sure what might tickle your palate. A good selection of dessert wines, too. All around, one of the best places in the neighborhood! read more

Lovely place with a very attentive staff. Outside dining was really nice on a NYC spring day. We had 5 tapas. One meat, others were mariscos and verdiras. I definitely recommend the lamb sliders. You get 2 with a generous helping of home made spicy potato chips. The baby octopus was excellent. The monk fish was over the top. Coliflor a la Brasa was delicious, savory. The Berenjena was a little bland. I liked as a sort of tapenade but I couldn't taste the eggplant really. One recommendation: I wish this Spanish restaurant serves tinto de verano. Ate dinner here recently, and have a mixed view of Buceo. The food was very good, but the service not so much. I was with a group of people, and the waiter brought out my dinner almost 25 minutes later after the others, saying my dish "took more time" to prepare. My companions were about done eating, and I was just starting. This is no way to serve at a restaurant. If a dish is going to take so long,it'd be great if the waiter had informed us, and perhaps kept the other dinners warm while the one dish was being prepared. At least we could have enjoyed our food together. I ended up taking most of my dinner to go, since it was getting late. It was a shame that the dish tasted delicious, but the experience was spoiled by poor service. The three stars are for the food only. read more

Went for a casual dinner with my mom. The place was PACKED on a Tuesday night. We ordered about 4 dishes for the two of us and we're both satisfied. While we sent one dish back to be heated further, the manager was very accommodating and took it off of our bill. We were going to see a performance of Selected Shorts at Symphony space last night. This restaurant is just a block away. It is just a few steps from Columbus Avenue on 95th. They had 4 or 5 tables outside and the inside consisted of a number of high tops with marble surfaces. Shelves high up on the walls held bottles of wine. Courtney, the owner held court, stepping up to meet each guest as they entered. I had called the evening before to find out if we would be able to get in-and-out quickly since we would be coming from Connecticut with barely an hour to spare before show time. Courtney said she would be glad to help us choose dishes that would be delicious and not take too long - no paella for us! We walked in and she identified herself immediately. I mentioned we had spoken yesterday "Ira! I feel like we are old friends already!" When my wife mentioned it was my birthday she hugged me and asked if we drank alcohol. Two glasses of cava arrived soon after. We love tapas. We just returned from two weeks in Spain and I was trying to recapture that feeling. This place did the trick. We polished off a bottle of Ribero del Duero wine while we ate. Padron peppers (a favorite) were delicious as were the three cheeses and braised cauliflower. They were out of the tuna my wife wanted and she pintxos that were essentially spherical fish sticks. Delicious. I had sliced breast of duck with braised peaches and onions. Very unique. Low lighting makes this good enough for a date spot on any night, I just feel like it's missing an identity and vibe to take it to the next level where I feel this is a go-to. It's not.
