What I received was literally pieces of chicken that was way too over cooked, and a container of lettuce, a few veggies, and their "House" dressing. If you come for authentic Mediterranean food, you've come to the wrong spot. I'm told this is their version of a fattoush but it's not, look up the damn definition. This is Bucharest and it definitely has its own style. But their shawarma is good you get tons of grilled chicken, and the Bucharest shawarma comes with fries on it. So these sandwiches are no joke very filling and tasty. Ok if you want a huge order of some strong garlic get the side order at $4 and you can feed 13 people, wow. This location doesn't get the love like the other Bucharests but I was happy with the food and the service going 3 stars today but they are a little better and deserve 3 1/2. read more

First time at this Bucharest Grill. Been to the one downtown. This is like the fast carry-out version. More for younger crowd the ambiance is pretty loud. Good to place a call ahead order and pick up for all ages. Dine-in is nice. Very clean. Don't be scared it's in Detroit. Some suburbanites might be. But really the whole Livernois strip between outer drive and eight mile is all redone. It's like a mini ferndale. Very nice clean little stores. Nice area. Bucharest is a great addition to the strip. These shawarmas seemed how they used to be-packed full of chicken and a great price for the size of the sandwich; they had seemed to shrink in size over the last couple years but they also raised the price from $5.50 to $7.85 so they need to be packed full. Since the wait at Kuzzo's was long, we walked to Bucharest. The substitute was a great one, especially because I was about to take a long drive and needed to eat lighter than I would have at Kuzzo's. Got there a little after 11 am, parking right out front with no line in the building. (Will the Church say Amen). Hmm... I'll rate this experience 2 stars and all of that is because the food is delicious. The wait is very long here even when you pick up a call in order. I was given a 45 minute time for the order. I arrived at the 35 minute mark because I'm punctual like that. After waiting about 10 minutes in a line to get to the counter, I was able to pay for my order. I moved to the side to wait with a large number of other people. That's when I began to worry because it was a lot of people there. I'll fast forward this story. My overall wait was an hour and 15 minutes! If I had not already paid, I would have stormed out (did I mention there was a raging thunderstorm outside?). Anyway...a few people did complain to the manager about the long wait, but it seemed to fall on deaf ears and not matter in the whole scheme of things. Alas, I will not return to this location. First time, Livernois location before closing on a Friday night. I need to benchmark this place in contrast to my favorite place - Pita Cafe (in Oak Park, very established). Location was easy to get to, interior was bright and clean and the staff was real pleasant. Ordered chicken shawarmas, fries, garlic spread and eggplant dip. Fries were really good. Everything else had sort of a one note flavor. Garlic spread was just garlic and oil, it needed a zap of lemon but okay. Eggplant dip also one-note. It had no roasted smokiness, no lemon or seasoning or tahini. It was creamy and I like how they put onions and tomatoes on top to give it flavor. Shawarmas were a real issue. Chicken was bountiful and tender but under seasoned. Pickle on it was scant! BUT THE MAJOR ISSUE WAS THE ROMAINE LETTUCE THEY USED ON IT DURING THE E-COLI RECALL!!! We were shocked. Lettuce alternative should of been used. Unfortunately this was a carryout so we did not see it till we got home and it was too late. That was 4 shawarmas that had to go into the garbage. We called the only open location and told them the dilemma and they said bring it in another day for a refund. My hubby, a chef, grilled them why in the hell they still using Romaine and all we got was "we only do as we're told by the owners". They should get 1 Star for that alone. She one salad and I 2 chicken shawarmas, a veggie shawarma, fried cheese, and cheese quesadilla at 6pm. But at 6:55 we still had not received our orders. I didn't order anything other than what was on the menu, didn't ask them to prepare it any different than how the menu says, when inquiring about our food we were informed that it was very busy although there were 3 people in the restaurant, including us when we placed our order and watched about 20 people come and go after us. The "supervisor " stated that my fried cheese was just being cooked and it would be about 6-7 minutes, and promptly gave my friend her salad. So I decided I would wait the 6-7 minutes for my food but after 10 minutes and still no food, I decided that I would just get a refund and I asked if the food was any closer to being ready than it was 10 minutes ago and the "supervisor" hunched her shoulders and said yeah but she has her own job to do so... This location of Bucharest Grill is as solid as the other locations and the closest to the suburbs. I've ordered a few times from this shop and the service has been solid and the food amazing. Of course the shawarmas are amazing and loaded to the brim with some of the most tasty chicken in Detroit, but just about everything on Bucharest's menu is amazing. My wife and I regularly order the large chicken salad which comes with more chicken than lettuce! It also comes with green pepper, onion, tomatoes and pita chips. The dressing is pretty addictive. You might want to ask for extra. The curly fries are pretty tasty too. I don't know what spices they use at Bucharest, but they hands-down beat the traditional shawarma shops in Dearborn. I want some right now! Bucharest doesn't appear to have their own parking lot, so its metered street parking for take out orders. I haven't had a problem finding parking during the dinner rush and was able to run in and out without throwing money in the meter. read more

Super fast, super delicious! At my last visit, my shawarma wrap was up before I had even finished signing the credit card receipt. We often get a chicken shawarma salad to split and end up with leftovers for the next day. (Be a Sally and keep the dressing on the side so the crunchy pita chips don't turn to mush.) Downside? Staff seemed annoyed that they had to call my number twice - service isn't all that friendly. And last I was there, a few signs announced that they're ending delivery. Bucharest has one of the best Chicken Shawarma Salads around! I crave it often and they deliver every time. I will say that during covid, their masks aren't always on which is kind of concerning but other than that, they make it very easy to social distance inside while waiting for an order. I've eaten here a few times now. I usually get one of the shawarma wraps. I don't usually eat too much beef, but I think the beef wrap is better than the chicken. The Bucharest wrap is interesting. It has fries in it. Pretty good. All of em come with garlic sauce. The only complaint I have about the food is that the meat is always over-seasoned (i.e. waaay too salty). The staff is hit or miss. They get busy sometimes so the employees can be rude, but other times, they're really pleasant. Regardless, I would still recommend giving this place a try. read more
