3 stars for location being nice inside and fast service. Every table was full and packed pretty tightly. I had never been there before. Salad and soup were good. Mrs. "B's" Pierogies were very bland, despite being homemade they were a let down. Probably should just stick to Mrs. T's on that front. Biggest complaint was that the Chicken cheesesteak was so greasy it looked like a regular cheesesteak (dark brown) which I think is gross. They need to clean the grill! People get chicken as a healthier option, they don't like eating grease. I would not return. Many other options 10 minutes down the street. read more

Had lunch here recently with my wife as we were returning from Skippack Village. I ordered a chicken cheese steak sandwich and my wife had a grilled chicken sandwich. After a rather long wait considering place was not that crowded, food arrived and was just ok. Nothing to rave about. Decent selection of IPA's but no prices on the impressive beer list. When I asked for a price list waitress gave me a sideways look and said she would check on the price of any beer I wanted. I ordered a glass of the house Cabernet instead, price which was listed on the drink menu. Why can't all restaurants list prices for their alcoholic beverages and cocktails? Check arrived with a charge on it for an item we did not order. Too many better restaurants in the Lehigh Valley to return here that get the check correct the first time around. read more

First and only time I will visit this establishment. Hoping for a more diverse menu. Almost nothing for vegetarians. It is a meat establishment. My fault for not doing more research. The food is only a 2. The steak fries were only slightly warm and limp. My Po boy shrimp sandwich was ok. They need to work on the remoulade sauce. The bread was spot on, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The shrimp was too hard. They over did the deep frying. The atmosphere is good only for families. Kudos to the waitstaff. The Buckeye has reopened since the fire that destroyed the building. It no longer has 3 floors, but one floor. Thankfully, they were able to maintain a large portion of the original cobblestone walls and build around them. There is quite a bit less seating than it once had, but they did justice to it, by creating a nice decor. There are several regular tables, one long extended bar table and the bar itself. A large wall behind the fully stocked bar lists the beers available. It is quite a large selection. The menu doesn't vary much from their original. It has wings, burgers, salads and a few other main dish items. It is great place to stop with friends and family. I only gave it 3 stars because frankly I prefer the food at the owner's other restaurant, The Alburtis Tavern. We will be back here and so glad they brought it back to life. read more

Really, a manager or the owners should have done this, and I feel really weird about ever returning. Will they retaliate and do something to my food? I like the new layout of the place, and it looks cute. I agree with some of the others that it is a tiny bit loud. We were there from 2-3:30 on a Saturday afternoon when the place was not full, so I can imagine that when it is at full capacity with a jamming bar, it could be very loud. I would say try to get a table away from the kitchen during a slow time at all costs. I don't know what in the hell the staff does back there, but the banging and hooting was so loud, that we had to move to the bar side of the room. And we are not complainers, typically. The menu is very similar to the one they had here before it burned, just tweaked a little bit. We started with the nachos, my husband had a burger club, I had a reuben, my son had a wrap, and my daughter had a seafood cake. Daughter's was really bad. Everyone else enjoyed their meals. Service stunk. We had the server with the dark bob. Our glasses were continuously empty, and once she took my son's water glass to refill it, and never brought it back. When she finally reappeared, we asked for a refill for him, and she asked where his glass went? Um, hellooo, you took it! All of the food took forever to come out. It took forever to get the bill, pay the bill, get a to go box. We asked for honey mustard, and were brought regular mustard, but didn't bother correcting the mistake, because obviously she was overwhelmed with too many tables, or was having some kind of issue. As far as the decor goes, it looks nice, but it's a little strange. It lacks some of the old charm that the place used to have. They have a lot of pictures from Home Goods or Marshalls or wherever around, and it would be nicer if they got some old black and whites of Macungie and framed them and put them up, rather than random generic signs that say Fresh Eggs on them. I really cannot recommend this place. My husband and I showed up at 4:30 on a Friday. We sat at the bar as we always do. It was filled with younger kids (early 20's) at happy hour. As time went by it transitioned into an old crowd (late 60's) who clearly didn't like the younger crowd. They all looked bitter and stalked the bar seats. It was a very uncomfortable atmosphere and just a really bad experience. We stayed for dinner. The food took no less than 45 minutes from the time we ordered it and it was just ok. I got a burger. The meat was dry and it was covered in blue cheese dressing instead of blue cheese crumbs. The bartender was nice. He was attentive. He even gave us chips and salsa because we waited so long. So the two stars are for the service. The food lost a star and the atmosphere lost two. It was just not pleasant. read more

Although I miss the old buckeye as my mom was a cherished and loved bartender and server there for over ten years before being let go with no given reason and was known as the queen of the buckeye for being the top seller of wine ( but now she owns two businesses so we thank them for that when it was re bought and before it burned down so I was salty and it took a while to give it a shot ), we had a pleasant experience. I liked that they incorporated pieces of the old buckeye in the decor. I do miss the old romantic type setting, but the new setting works to and the size of the crowd shows it is bringing in good business. We had Cody as our server who was kind and attentive ( congrats on the new baby ). We also saw Lisa buzzing around like a busy bee that she is. I grew up with Lisa as my softball coach, and she was really rocking it taking care of her customers! I got my classic favorite Black diamond steak which was cooked perfectly. I loved the Caesar salad bowls and the jalapeño corn fritters were so good and I had to stop eating them so I would have room for my food. Overall it has turned into a great place and I would go again. It wasn't an overwhelming menu, but still had many thing I wanted to try. read more

We keep coming back because it is so close, and I really want to like it but it is disappointing every time. Tonight was the last straw. Started by being seated under the stairs next to a large portable space heater (really?, this has to be the worst table ever). My 6 year old got his hand stuck in the weird swinging doors in the disgusting bathroom. Wife's burger was okay, my wrap was raw and cold. This is our family's go to restaurant. We love the lobster bisque, which keeps us from trying any of the other appetizers. They also always have something on their specials board that also keep us from trying things off their normal menu. Which is great because it keeps us going back to this restaurant. I also love the Buckeye's new sister restaurant the Alburtis Tavern. It is hard to get out to new local establishments due to our love of the food and atmosphere of these two restaurants. read more

Delicious American cuisine. They experience high volume and it can get packed here so depending on what night you go, you may have quite the wait to be seated and service can be a little slow. The first floor is intimate and has a nice ambiance. The second floor is broken into three sections and the seating arrangements are awkward. In the winter there's a draft and very cold in here. Three stars because the food is delicious but the servers are disgruntled and always seem like they are inconvenienced. You don't feel appreciated for dining here. read more

Not a good experience at all! Very rude and cold bartender who never even said hello to us. Being a Saturday night and the Stanley cup game on, we had to ask the princess bartender to turn it on. The entire menu is nothing but fried garbage so we ordered salads. My husband works at Lehigh County Prison and identified an inmate of his working in the kitchen. This inmate was in prison this time last year and now he was delivering our food to the bar! I tried to ignore it but I couldn't. Not very crowded and we felt rushed to order even though we didn't look at the menu yet. Was never crazy about the old Buckeye but it was cozy and quiet. It's way too loud and there's a rushed feeling like they want you to hurry up and leave? Nice renovation and love the stone walls though! So happy they rebuilt the Buckeye Tavern. It is absolutely beautiful. Smaller then it was (could be a problem) but really nice inside. We had lunch today and it was good. My wife had the french onion soup and I had crab corn chowder. Both were good, my chowder was excellent. We also ordered sandwiches that were also good. My only complaint was we were both barely starting our soup when the sandwiches came out. They need to get there timing down. The one confusing thing about the menu is they advertise prime choice steaks. There is no such thing as prime/choice. It is either prime or choice. read more

I have been to Buckeye numerous times and have never had such poor service. The bartender Lori was miserable and nasty. It took her over 5 minutes to get my drink because she was conversating with other guests. Usually the service is exceptional so I was very surprised yesterday. It's hard for me to rate this place because the food ranged from Meh to great. There were four of us and 2 of us got pasta dishes and 2 of us got steaks. The streaks were great and the pasta just okay. I personally got the pasta primavera and to me it was under seasoned. It tasted very buttery but bland.I usually don't pick up the salt shaker in restaurants, but I found myself doing it several times. There also could have been more veggie, but they were slightly overcooked anyway. The lobster raviolis were also just so-so. On another note, all the drinks we ordered were very good. read more

I really liked the decor inside of the Buckeye!! AlsoWfood was very good!! With that being said....here are the parts that i was not a fan of. No refills on sodas at $3.00 a piece, pretty ridiculous! Also, $11.00 for a pinnacle vodka and club soda. I can buy a full bottle of pinnacle vodka for $11.00.! i do not think i was ever in my life charged $11.00 for a vodka and club soda.... Also the place clears out by 9pm! which i found very surprising! Its a cool place but prepare to go else where by 830-9pm if you want to hang out for the night. if your going for just dinner then you will enjoy it. but if your going to watch a game or hang out...you may be a little bored. read more

3 strikes and you're OUT! Ordered a simple patty melt without onions. The sandwich was delivered WITH onions. The 2nd one was delivered with the meat cold to the touch and the cheese apparently just slapped on the top not at all melted. The 3rd one came back still cold to the touch!!! I asked the mgr how can anyone in their kitchen send out such poorly prepared food. She agreed with my frustration and even admitted that they make way too much money compared to their skills. I dont even know where to start with how bad the customer service is here. I was helping someone plan a wedding and we have had a date picked and spoke with "waynette". She had given us a price and we pretty much were solid in this conversation with her. Well when we went to go put our deposit on the place today she then tells us that she never quoted us for the price that we had discussed and also said that she "never said any of that" in reference to our conversation months ago! Not only is there a month and a week until this wedding but this was told to us last minute. She was inconsiderate and rude and I will never go to Buckeye again nor will I recommend this a place to go for weddings or parties. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE! We came for dinner and had a good time! We were surprised that there was a large group at the high top table because on other visits there hasn't been as many people. As we enjoyed our meal, the restaurant appeared to be full and the staff were on top of it! Our waitress Kelly was attentive and answered our questions about the menu. We ordered the Black Diamond Steak and the Crab Mac N Cheese- both were very flavorful. It was a bit noisy but after awhile it got quieter. The interior always looks great and is very clean. This is our go-to restaurant in the area. It's got bit of everything and the food is reasonably priced. The appetizers offer a good variety as does the lighter fare and entrees. I was not a huge fan of their ribs as I thought they were overly saucy and the meat was lost under all of it. Alcoholic drinks were always made well. Never had I had a weak drink. Service is good though it can get loud upstairs. I wish they never stopped serving breakfasts but my gut is that it was not a big revenue generator for them do it therefore it just made sense to discontinue. Too bad! read more

I went here last night and, after hearing from our waitress that the vegetable of the day was broccoli, I ordered one of my favorite meals: steak (Black Diamond), baked potato and broccoli. Now I've had their BD steak before, but it was several years ago, before their fire and it was good. No bread was served, which knocked off one star immediately. When the meal was served, I noticed that the potato, which was cut open and not wrapped in foil, was coated in salt. Yuck. That salt got into the juice from the steak which then affected the broccoli rendering the whole meal a salty mess. The only part that didn't taste salty was the inside of the potato. The skin was inedible. If I could, I'd give a "black hole" rating to this meal. Terrible. read more

Had a really really nice meal here while in the area. All three items my wife and I shared were exceptional. Wings - for which they allowed three different sauces within the dozen at no extra charge. The whiskey glazed were the stand out here! Beer battered cauliflower, something I would think of ordering was amazing, glad we tried that! And a simple turkey avocado wrap that was excellent as well. All dishes were put together and presented with skill and care and the staff was excellent. Great service and made helpful suggestions without being pushy. Don't hesitate to try this place!! read more
