    Blueberry wing and catfish
    Joseph S.

Went here for lunch with a group of six guys and had an awesome time. We started with the blueberry BBQ wings--absolutely incredible. That sauce is something special! I had the fried catfish, which was perfectly crispy and flavorful. Then we all split the family/share platter, and wow--there was so much food that even six hungry guys couldn't finish it. We took some home to top burgers with later on! The potato salad and coleslaw were refreshing sides that helped balance out the rich flavors of the meats. The mac and cheese was creamy and comforting, a definite hit. Every item on the platter was great, but the standouts were the brisket and sausage, especially when paired with their four distinct BBQ sauces. The rub on those meats really made them pop--tons of flavor without being overpowering. Overall, an incredible spot for a BBQ feast. Highly recommend if you're with a group and ready to eat like kings.

Being from the South I was intrigued by the idea of BBQ this far North. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Curb appeal and 1st impression of the interior was really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the two meat plate ( Brisket and Pulled Pork). When it arrived it looked amazing. A huge portion of pork and brisket, fries, coleslaw and cornbread. It went downhill from there. The meat was only barely warm, great smoke ring but no smoke flavor because the rub was still there and over powered the smoke and meat flavor. The final nail was both meats were very dry and I think was because of the salt in the rub. Overall not a very good meal. BUT, if you're not used to southern bbq, this would probably be okay. Not a fan.

BBQ option just off exit 19 in Freeport. Lots of parking. Nice bar area with a large beer list and yummy cocktails. Portions are large. Fries are super crispy. Of course the cornbread is super yummy as well. Even if you aren't a bbq fan there are other options on the menu.

    Combo plate

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone was nice, the place is esthetically appropriate for bbque-- good service- food was solid- maybe not southern but very good- fair value and oversized portions - you can't go wrong in Freeport if you want barbecue by coming here[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Overly Burnt Ends - inedible

I haven't been to Bucks in several years, but it used to be a favorite spot about 10 years ago. Tonight there were 4 of us for dinner, 3 adults and 1 child. We got there around 6:15 on Sunday 10/20/24. It wasn't too busy and we were sat right away. Our server was attentive and came to our table quickly to get our drink and appetizer order. We placed the order for a kids chicken nuggets and fries. At the same time we placed our appetizer order of fried pickle chips. Both orders came out quickly and the food was very hot . While I did not try the chicken nuggets myself, I heard they were good. I thought the pickle chips were delightful! They were a thicker slice of pickle, which I enjoyed more than a hamburger dill chip like most places have. The dipping sauce was good too. I was going to order the burnt ends as my meal with a side, but the others at the table wanted some too so we decided to order them as another appetizer. For our entrees 2 people ordered the Big Buck Combo, one with baked beans and cole slaw, the other with a baked potato and cole slaw. The Cole slaw was not vinegar based as the server described. It had a lot of mayo and neither were very impressed with that. However, both were happy with the meat and said it was good. It was A LOT of food and a decent amount went home for lunch tomorrow. I had the brisket sandwich and it was good. The brisket was tender and flavorful, I thought the bun was soft, but dry. I added the Carolina bbq sauce and it was the perfect sauce for the sandwich. It tasted as if it had a lot of yellow mustard, which I don't mind at all, but was very different from the places I used to get bbq from when I was in N Carolina. For my side I had the baked beans. They were not hot, but I thought the flavor was good. Then came our burnt ends - and I do mean BURNT. I could smell the burnt meat before it got to the table. You know those creosote crusted pieces from the grill if you don't scrub the grates? That was the entire outside of the burnt ends. They were terrible. We each had a little bite and left the rest. Not edible. Overall, the service was good, but the food was meh. I wouldn't go back anytime soon,

Tried Buck's Naked BBQ. It was good. Dry but the BBQ sauce helped it! The service was wonderful. Everyone was laughing, smiling, helping eachother out. Great team work and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place definitely has a bbq feel to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not bad for trying for the first time.

Best bbq is Freeport! The service is always great and friendly and the food is consistently good. My favorite is the blueberry sauce with the wings and they always have creative themed cocktails. Highly recommend!

First let me say I do love good barbecue, live in Texas. The Carolinas and Virginia and some of my favorite meals have been served with beans and brisket and all of the other delicious accompaniments that you can get, there's nothing like it ! Now that said you really need to go over and see the folks at Bucks Naked BBQ. Jaron and DJ are usually there looking after their excellent crew and their wonderful customers. The Bucks Naked BBQ atmosphere was great! Lots of friendly people! Can't wait to go back! I especially loved the kicky little sauce with the burnt ends yum!!!

Pulled pork board, comes cornbread and two sides. Did Mac and cheese and dinky salad side to off set

It was delicious loved the pulled pork board. Tender meat. Nice side options. Nice sauce selection. Great service too and friendly

    Delicious takeout

The dinners are overpriced and the side dish portions are tiny. We all had the ribs and agreed that they were average.

From musty dive hotel bar, and not one of the fun ones (well there was this one older lady that would serve you the strongest drink of your life whether you told her you were driving or not but other than that), to fine dining. Beyond impressed! This place is BEAUTIFUL and I don't know how they did it, but it doesn't have that smell anymore. And anyone that has been there in the past knows exactly what I'm talking about. Kinda like your grandmother's basement after a flood from 15 years ago that no one probably cleaned up. Yeah you know the smell. The short ribs were gorgeous, the reduction was perfect and the wild mushroom au gratin was heavenly. NY strip was perfectly tender, seasoned well and cooked to perfection. I'm never surprised anymore when a restaurant forgets what "medium" actually is. Sadly, I'm at the point where I'm surprised when they get it right. Pleasantly, but still surprised. This place, definitely gets my vote when I go to Freeport to spoil myself. If you haven't gone here yet, you're doing it wrong.

December 4, 2025 My…read moremother and I went to Porter's today for lunch. I hadn't been to the Harraseeket Inn for 25 years, so I was anxious to see what had changed. It took a few minutes to be seated, since no one was manning the reception station. Apparently that's waitstaff's job - when they're not doing 100 other things. This is an oversight on the restaurant's part and something I pointed out to the manager. Once we were seated though, our experience blossomed into something really wonderful. Neither my mother nor I ordered appetizers.... Since we figured that lunch would be enough (it was). They don't serve bread or crackers or anything as a gratuity - which is probably a cost-saving as well as time-saving measure. It also forces you into buying one of their "small plates" (appetizers), which looked wonderful but were also quite pricey. We also didn't order alcohol- which probably saved us between $30 and $50, since their cocktails were $15 and upwards. Same is true with their wines. Appealing but pricey. I ordered the beef short rib entree ($38) (see attached photo) with a small Caesar salad and their wild mushroom ragout. The beef was some of the best I've ever had. It was fork-tender, juicy, and flavorful in ways that are hard to describe. As for the wild mushroom ragout.... It was cheesy and delicious, but lacked any visible mushroom. I told our waitress so and I hope she passed it on to the chef. My mother ordered their Grilled salmon, served on a bed of cranberry quinoa and topped with an avocado sauce that was amazing (see photo). ($41). The food was so good that there was no hope of taking any home. We wiped out everything! (See photo) We hard coffee with our meal and with taxes and tip, the bill came to $118. Well worth it for such a fabulous meal. We'll go back, but with my father and eldest daughter in tow next time!!

Not very busy but only one waitress working as has been par for the course last few times there. Finally took my order which was eggs Benedict. As i waited for my meal i heard the few other couples there ordering their meals. Waited almost 45 minutes and no meal yet? Eventually the waitress came out to serve table next to me , the people said they didnt wang their breakfast i heard thdm order, thay said the food they brought eatlier was good enough for thdm so refused to take food waitress had brought and which i heatd them order! Waitress came over to my table (only single diner there) and told me she served the table of 3 my breakfast !! Which they knew wasnt theres but shared it between themselves anyways! Took another 5 minutes before she came back and said coffee was on her!! Unreal. Worst service ever, had slow service there previously but this was ridiculous, ill never go back again , horrible service and only one waitress who obviously didnt have a clue!
