TLDR: Glass was fixed as agreed upon but customer service could have been better. I hired Bud Barton to replace a window in my house in conjunction with the sale of my home. I told them the timeline I needed the job to be completed and they agreed and executed the job. However, they were later for the initial survey. What was also frustrating was that I got no call or heads-up about what was happening. I had to reach out to find out why there was a delay and when I could expect someone to be at my home. Then, on the day of the repair, the tech no-showed on me. I had been waiting around just for this repair and had other places I had to be, so I couldn't continue to wait past the service window that had been agreed upon. I again had to reach out to the shop to see what was going on as I received no phone call with a status update. I understand jobs run long sometimes, but I don't understand why I was never given a simple courtesy call. As this was late afternoon on a Friday, I asked for a manager to call on Monday to discuss a discount due to the delay. Again, no one called me.. so I reached out Monday afternoon after the window had been replaced Monday morning (tech was on time on Monday as I had the first appointment slot). I asked the manager for a discount to be applied since the tech had been late twice. He said they couldn't do this since this was "a rush job," and they had to squeeze us into the schedule as it was. At no point was I ever told before that this was a "rush job" or that I was using some kind of expedited service, so to claim no discount could be applied since they were really doing me a favor was pretty annoying. However, the shop did apply a Military discount, which was much appreciated. I had a short timeline to get this work done and didn't have the time or energy to fight this more, so I left it at that. The window was fixed quickly, and the work looked great. Here's what would have made things right: a phone call when the tech was running late, an honest review of the schedule and what the timeline for the job was, the manager to call back when requested, and a discount applied for their mistake with scheduling (even if they just called the military discount a courtesy discount I would have been happier). read more

The worst customer service I have ever experience coming directly from the OWNER of the company Bethany Hopp. Was extremely rude, snarky, yelled at me on the phone. Canceled my order, with a status of our window being bordered up by them!!! I reached out via email multiple times, with a email chain of no response back, had to constantly call to get any updates. we are now left with a bordered-up window and having to find another company to finish their job. They said an earlier job went a little long and the estimator would be there within the hour (before I had to leave). Another hour went by and no show, no call. Part2: So today icalled back to see about my quote. After a bit of haggling over colors (thay cant get some things including hinges in black?). the bid was just a single arbitrary number on a sheet of paper. NO DETAILS OF ANYTHING. When i asked for a more detailed bid including material costs and labor cost. They threw a fit and basically refused to do the job if i was going to insist on a detailed bid. I think there are consumer protection laws against that kind of thing. Time for a complaint to the attorny generals office. read more

My in laws have had a piece of glass in their garage forever that I needed cut to size. I called and was told that I could drop it off and I would have to come back to get it later (I'd procrastinated this for like years so another short wait wasn't a big deal) however when Eli (I believe was the glass cutters name) came out to help me remove the glass from the car he told me he could do it quickly and I could be all done. I was there maybe 10 min! And it was very affordable as I only needed 2 cuts. The office atmosphere was very friendly as was Eli. *COVID extras- lots of available hand sanitizer, they had plexiglass up behind part of the counter and the gal who rang me out had a mask if the employees needed to not be behind the counter. We doubled the size of our Camano Island house last year and gutted and remodeled the existing part as well. Our contractor used bud Barton glass for windows and match them perfectly with the existing windows. Our house looks like it was all original and there is no indication of the addition thanks to the frames and the windows. We also used bud Barton glass for custom kitchen cabinets with seady glass, with a mirror-back wall and shelves in our bar and they look beautiful. Working on the house is a never Ending pain. Couldn't get one picture window clean and I knew what it was. A leak in the panels caused gas and Moisture to get in and stain it. I dealt with this glass company at my other house and wondered if they'd drive the approximately sixty miles to do my window here on Whidbey. They said they would and was very pleasant on the phone. Set a date for someone to come and measure then put In an order. Came right on time. Asked if I had any questions then game me an estimate of time and the cost. The office called Me at 8:30'to let me know the installer would be leaving the office in twenty Minutes and should be here At 10:00. Again, right on the button. Nice guy and did not waste any time. I waited 2 weeks to be able to take my Highlander in to have the windshield replaced only to be told that they could not do it and Toyota had to install it. Toyota does not do window glass installation and I was told by them that they would do the reprogramming after the new windshield was installed. The employs at Barton's do not seem to know what to do with a newer car windshield. After 30 years I am not to confident that I want them to touch anything of mine. They do not seem to value my time at all or why else was I not informed 2 weeks ago about their decision not to do the windshild? read more

Barton's sent Hans, their estimator, out in a timely manner and he provided an estimate of $883.73 which we accepted. They sent a glazier out soon after. We had Bud Barton replace four large windows in our house plus a garden window. We have an A Frame shaped living room and the whole west wall is all glass, but in 4 sections, some up to 6'X6'. They were very good about keeping us informed as to delivery and installation. The installers were good at their job and picked up after themselves. OK, so yesterday my 6 year old put a golf ball through the sliding glass door, Home Depot referred me to Bud Barton Glass who immediately came over and quoted us $475 plus tax... That's $516! So I also called Glass Doctor in Arlington and they quoted me $298.65 with tax, and could do it right then! I called Home Depot and let them know the huge difference in price between what they referred and their competition. As a military family we get a discount through Home Depot, it is obvious that Bud's glass didn't feel the same way! read more

My daughter purchased a older townhome in Marysville. The seller purchased new windows to be installed today, Nov. 26th. Because she has a job that is very hard to just leave to be there when work is getting done, I (her retired mom) is the go to person to be at her house. Nov. 25th, I get a text message from her telling me that they are in the house working! No call, message, or text letting her know that they were going to be there a day early. I get there to find a guy working on the sliding glass door. I ask who are you, why are you here, and how did you get in. He answers, "We're window guys, we can get in." !!! I said that they did not have permission to enter the house and that is called "Breaking and entering" and that against the low. He said that they called, but got no answer. So they just broke into the house and started working. There were our belongings in boxes all around, in the kitchen, upstairs, and downstairs. I asked him for their phone number to call and he said it's on the truck. I called and was treated awful! She said that they were licensed and bonded and that made it ok to break in the house. I nearly threw them out! Breaking into the home and being treated so rudely has been a first for me. I have never had any problem like this before and will never use Barton's Glass ever! read more

We live in tulalip and try to hire local folks because it feels good to keep work local when we can. We have used this company 2 times and their prices are in the middle of the pack. Our initial visit was great and Hans has been to our place the 1st time. Then we had issues, we was suppose to get the bid sent to us so we can review but it was misplaced and we had to go and get with them to work that out. They couldn't find it so they planned to send a rep back out and set up a time. I was all set up for the time and as the time came and went not body showed. I called 15 mins later and was informed we found your bid and forgot to call you back to let you know we wasnt coming out. I would usually say I dont want your business after that but didnt.... We set up a time line for the team to come out and they did a pretty good job with the exception of leaving debris on my roof and on the side of my house... These folks should have had more pride and professionalism than that..... So I still have 2 more fixtures to replace and might have to look else where... read more

The customer service and communication I received from this establishment was outright horrible. After waiting for hours, the day of the appt, I got a call from them letting me know that they could not make it out. After questioning why, they said they were only just told by the manufacturer themselves. What?! It makes no sense that they waited until after my appt time frame to call and cancel the job. The crap-show did not stop there, though. I dealt with two different employees - one of them was supposedly the manager - over the phone. Instead of finding a way to address that they screwed up, they got into a yelling match with me. The professionalism of these two were garbage. It was obvious that someone dropped the ball on their end and they didn't want to own up to it. Their business was a recommendation to me by a happy customer. The 5-stars on here sounds great, but the low reviews all appear more in line with the type of service they provided to me. read more
