Visiting from Florida to my hometown. Not only was our entire tables food lukewarm. The fried pickles we received were not freshly made, over cooked and old. Despite the great location of this place and it apparently being family owned, I would not recommend coming here. The service and food were both subpar. The service was subpar in that, I was there for 3 hours and saw my server twice; the rest of the time he was leaning up against the outside wall talking to the rest of the servers who were doing the same. No one asked if we wanted more drinks, water refills, and once my food was served I had to go up to my server (who once again, was on the wall) and ask for utensils and napkins. The 9.00 'salad' I got was literally iceberg lettuce and croutons. The crab cake was way below average, and our soft shell crab sandwich was cold. We had taken our friends out and when our server gave us the bill, he said it out loud. Which in my opinion is rude and in poor taste. Overall I, again, would not recommend being a patron here. It was a nice day out thought I'd give it a shot. First of all, amazing host stand, I wish I knew her name but she went out her way to help us. We were sitting in the sun and she moved an umbrella to our table, it's the little things. In regards to the food, most of it was good, that is until I ordered the crab Mac and the garnish had two blue crab claws. I saved those for last, but once I got to them, I noticed they were rotten. I mentioned it to the waiter whose presence was scarce and he brushed it off as if it's normal. As a person with restaurant experience, if it comes on your plate it's supposed to be edible. Never again. I brought my parents here for a trip down memory lane, but gone are the days when this was a quality, friendly establishment. Our waiter barely greeted us. In fact, he seemed determined to keep words to a minimum. He flat out SCOWLED at several patrons, slammed down his dish bucket when clearing tables, and shoved menus at us without a single word. He brought us warm water in dirty looking cups with barely any ice. When ordering, he did not mention any specials, or give any explanations when we ordered. He simply wrote down the orders and then walked away without a word. My dad ordered a beer. He never got a beer, but at least we weren't charged for it. The waiter probably didn't hear him, or care. We waited for about thirty minutes without anyone refilling our water. I ordered the Mariner salad, a salad with salmon, shrimp and crab. The shrimp and salmon weren't seasoned at all- it was just plain. The salmon was rubbery and not all the skin was removed. My mom ordered cream of crab soup, and it was gellatinous, like it had been sitting out for a long time. Everything was gross and lukewarm. When we slowed down on our dishes, the waiter started clearing them away without asking us if we were finished. He even snatched a packet with crackers left in it from in front of my infant in a high chair. It was an absolutely terrible experience, and I was embarassed to take my family there. Cute place, great crab cakes and crab soup. LOCATION: off the main street area, easy to find if you're walking around the town. DECOR: restaurant is on the second floor, simple and decent sized. Good amount of windows. FOOD: ordered the cream of crab soup, crab cakes, and buffalo tenders. The soup was fantastic, very thick and delicious. Being a resident of Washington, DC, I make trips to Annapolis all summer long and pay a visit to Buddy's for some crab cakes. First the negatives - its loud, the waiters have a bit of an attitude and I have never tried the buffet. on the positive side - crab cakes are good and so is rest of the food. We were recommended this place by locals at Annapolis for their blue crabs. We ordered the medium blue crabs first. The crabs were tender and fresh and very well prepared. This was my first time eating steamed crabs and I loved it. We also tried the crab cakes, fried shrimp, ribs, chicken tacos, hush puppies, baked ziti and chicken nuggets (for the kids). I tasted all the dishes and particularly liked the crab cake, the hush puppies and the fried shrimp. The shrimp tasted tender and fresh. I did not particularly like the ribs and thought they could have been better. My kid cousins really enjoyed the chicken nuggets and the fries. This place is great for families with kids looking for fresh seafood. They have a kids menu and the food is free for kids under the age of 10. The service was great! They were attentive and helpful. We ordered crab lovers, steamed shrimp with potatoes and corn, fish and chips basket and burger. Seafood was fresh tasting with just enough seasoning. Burger was just about ok given it's a seafood restaurant. The stairs going up were pretty steep for our elderly guest. My family arrived here on Saturday evening around 5:30pm. They were able to seat us rather quickly, for a party of six. We ordered appetizers and frozen drinks. They were ok. when I ordered my entree, crab cake with fries, I took two bites into my sandwich and noticed a long hair in my sandwich. This is disgusting. The waitress was very apologetic and took my plate away. She did ask if I would like anything else....I could not eat anything else from there. I've been to about four different blue crab places in the DMV area, and Buddy's is by far my favorite. Their seasoning is delicious (I think there's sea salt in it), and their crabs are fresh. My love and I decided to come to Annapolis and try Buddy's. First, let me warn you about looking for parking on Main st...... It is absolute madness. We did find a spot about a block away which wasn't bad at all. Now about Buddy's.... Second warning...Buddy's is upstairs and there's a lot of steps..so be prepared. Once you reach the top, you are greeted and seated. We opted for the Seafood buffet which is on Saturdays. There were many options to choose from and it wasn't just Seafood. Some of the food was okay but I wish it wasn't cold. Our server was accommodating but seemed quite busy. He didn't offer a refill until we were done eating. I don't know if it was just a bad day or what. I'm hoping it was just a bad day. But I will say the steamed crabs looked good. We will be coming back for the all you can eat crab special..I hope we won't be disappointed. read more

Visiting for vacation and had an amazing lunch with my aunt. Staff was friendly, beverages were delicious and food was very authentic. I had the soft shell crab sandwich and it rivaled some of my favorite MD seafood restaurants. Although we didn't get the buffet for lunch, it looked like a great deal with plenty of seafood and selections for only $16. I would definitely recommend it for tourists on vacation. Solid three stars. Location is ideal it's upstairs on the corner of the main street in downtown Annapolis, overlooking the marina so definitely try and grab a window seat! Where there is seafood there are high prices and/or market prices. My recommendation is to get the buffet. It's served till 9 and has a good selection of many of the same menu items they offer. I made it worth it by piling my plate high with mussels marinara, steamed shrimp, stuffed flounder, and both fried and raw oysters! The price was about $35 each but definitely worth it if you're gonna eat seafood, or if you plan on having a salad, appetizers or dessert with with your meal. When in season they also have all you can eat crab legs! I think the pricing is similar to their normal buffet. The one thing I like most about the all-you-can-eat crab legs is that they don't have them just sitting under a hot lamp for the pickin, they bring them out fresh steamed as soon as your done with your first batch. They serve whole crabs too if you want that authentic Maryland experience. Pro tip: Don't be that guy to mallet your crab to death, if you've never eaten crab like that just ask they'll be happy to show you how to do it! Service was good but a little slow on the refill, and idk what it is but I feel like some kind of tropical music should be played instead of classic rock, to give it that seafood by the water feel. Will come here if I want to gorge myself by the water with "ehh" seafood. All in all good though. Downtown Annapolis is an awesome place and the view from the upstairs window tables at Buddy's is great. Now it is true I may be crazy, but once you are seated at a table I have an unrealistic expectation that you should expect someone to visit your table to say hello? Welcome you? Or how about go so far as to take a drink order? Not at Buddy's! I asked one waitress if she was our server, no! But she would get someone. Response: None. I got impatient with this, and visited the young woman who seated us. Response, again nothing! So we waited and I went to the bar and ordered drinks and asked if they could be delivered to our table. No need the bartender said they would send our waitress over. She arrived promptly--thank God its a miracle! Ta-da. She acted friendly and took our drink order. We also placed our entire food order since we may be crazy but we can tell this place is a DISASTER! Okay I know I must be suffering from a mental disorder to stay at this point: Guilty! Dear Kristin our waitress: Here is a hint when someone orders soup, in most cases that means they want the soup! Our order came out all together, not the appetizers first, as one with bottom of the barrel expectations might think. But whatever. We are just trying to survive at this point. After the food came out and we asked about the soup, our dear Kristin returned. She asked what kind of soup was it that was ordered? OMG, you are kidding! Never mind sunshine, we will now pass on the soup. We ordered crabs (large), crab dip, hush puppies, and soup. Okay forget the soup! The crabs; kinda hard to describe, size okay but they were severely overcooked. Why do I say this? Since the meat in the claws was dried to a crispy crunch--not fit for human consumption. Maybe they were precooked, I dunno. After our food arrived, our favorite Kristin arrived to ask if we wanted drawn butter or vinegar to dip the crab in? Wow how cool is that, I did not even have to go to the bar to beg for butter! Awesome! By the way the crab dip is not that awful, if you like crab dip without the crab. We visited on Sunday January 7, 2018--I would bet this place is closed soon! If this is the last restaurant open in Annapolis and you are forced to visit since you have not eaten in days, I would suggest ordering the hush puppies as an appetizer; ordering the hush puppies as an entree and so on. The hush puppies are good, seriously. Everything else about this place is a failure. I think a restaurant must be trying to ruin crabs if they come out as bad as ours did. The place was a mess ...food on floor, bathrooms, chairs (I guess the bussers only do table tops). The ribs were not "fall off the bone" , but attempt to separate with a steak knife. Tough and unappealing! Sent back! Burger ordered medium came out extra well. My chicken Chesapeake had been sitting under warming lights way too long. Dried up, the "lump crab" is basically claw meet. Highlights of the meal were crm of crab soup and baked potato.... pretty sad! Our waiter had been there since 730 am and it was now 530 pm! The locals know to avoid this place. Because of its location on Main Street, it gets a lot of traffic and people see the sign advertising kids eat free and they run for a bargain meal. But bargain is exactly what you get... Sub par food. For those that think this is good food, I feel sorry for you because you have never experienced a truly good meal. I had a good time at Buddies I went during the lunch. So it wasn't super busy my waitresses were very tentative the lunch buffet wasn't that expensive but the view and Ambiance was great the drinks were good the food at the buffet was good better than normal for any other Buffet never been to so this is definitely a repeat for me I would like to see what the dinner crowd or brunch crowd is like but definitely a great place I would definitely come back and try out a couple of other food options or entrees. read more
