Love the food here! They have so many options, from burgers to steak and lobster, you can always find something to satisfy your taste buds. Not to mention they always have dinner specials and a great taco Tuesday. Happy hour is from 4:30-6:30 ($1 off all alcoholic beverages) and drink prices are very reasonable. Staff is super friendly. When I called ahead on Saturday night, I was told there was no wait time for our party of four. We arrived to find empty tables but were seated after a 15 minute wait. The hostess was kind and polite; however, our server Brevin was abrupt, rude, and an overall jerk. I was the last at the table to place my order with Server Brevin. For the appetizer (included with the main dish,) I asked for a salad with no dressing. For the main course, I ordered pasta primavera with no meat additions as I am a vegetarian. After a 45 minute wait with no further contact, Brevin brought out the main courses. We had not yet received our appetizers, soups and salads! When we asked if we could get these, Brevin just offered to comp them instead of serving them as he continued to deliver the rest of the main course. His attitude and demeanor was condescending and short-tempered. The hostess came by to see if she could help and got the meal corrected; appetizers were brought out and the main dishes returned to the kitchen. Unfortunately when Brevin returned with our main dishes, two of my parties reheated steaks were switched. The prime rib was now more like a pot roast. My "meat-free" pasta primavera carried strong shrimp flavor. I silently gave thanks I did not have a shellfish allergy. While the hostess returned to get my dish remade, Brevin shot us a couple of sour looks and eye rolls. A group of us decided to drop in on Bud's after a funeral in Dixon. They were very accommodating and set us up in the back room. We had at least 20 people at one large table and probably half again that many in the bar area out front. Service was outstanding. We were helped by several servers bringing us food an beverages. Our primary server, Brandy, orchestrated the service and was on top of everything... REALLY on top of it. No problems or glitches at all. And she did it with good humor and a smile even when we asked for several separate checks. The food? My wife and I both had the french dip, and they were yummy. Plenty of meat (sliced prime rib no less), a full cup of au jus and good fries. All of the food brought out looked good... including salads and sandwiches. I've really never had a good experience here. I've been 3 times. First time, mid afternoon on a Saturday waited to be seated then waited forever for service. Second time, we ordered bar food and the bartender didn't know what a Pink Cadillac was. Third time, tonight the people in front of us who had a reservation were told that they gave their table to someone else. We ended up walking out. We won't be back. Service sucks and the attitude that they are such a great bar and grill leaves one to question why they think they are so great when the reality is they are awful. read more

This is my second visit to this establishment. Both times I had a very good experience. Each time was for breakfast. The place has a really nice atmosphere and an old-world feel to it. The servers are very friendly and very attentive. I had chicken fried steak and eggs this morning for my breakfast and it arrived in a timely manner and tasted very good. They kept the coffee coming and checked on our table periodically to make sure we had everything we needed. This is definitely one of my go-to stops when I'm in the area. read more

Good Food. I enjoy buds. Their steaks/ chops are great. I really enjoy the blackened prime rib. Dinner prices are not cheap but they are not exorbitant. Went in for lunch recently and felt that it was decent. I definitely prefer their dinners. However, brunch/lunch prices are great. Most expensive thing was the tri-tip sandwich at $9.99. Meats are always tasty here and the tri-tip sandwich was no exception. Onion rings were fantastic. Portion felt a little small but you can check out the pictures and decide for yourself. Bud's is my favorite restaurant here in town. The food and the service is always great! But yesterday, we ordered the prime rib and is was dry. The only thing juicy about it was the au jus and the fat. I hope Bud's pays close attention to their yelp postings and makes the appropriate changes. Employees did not greet us when we came in, we stood there for 5 minutes until someone saw us even after walking in through the bar door and walked around to the main door. Everything tasted like it had been pre cooked and reheated. We ordered the bbq bacon burger, monte cristo and 2 kids burgers. A monte cristo is usually deep fried and served with Jam, mine was grilled with a melted piece of cheese dropped on top with no jam, the hash brown was like eating plastic and all the burgers tasted like they were over cooked/re-heated and all had liquid smoke added. The food here is amazing. This pub has the best burgers, sandwiches and French fries. If you love sports like me, there is plenty of tv screens surrounding the quaint bar with a view to see from the dining area as well. There are some staff that seem to rush you in and out for some reason. But overall, most of the staff are friendly and hard working. You won't be disappointed by the menus and deserts so the sometimes unfriendly staff will still be worth the visit. If you have a taste for red wine, the house Cabernet is excellent. read more

The location is cute in downtown dixon. I also like how the resturant and bar are separate entrances. That's where they get 2 stars, the food was terrible 0 stars terrible. The Bud Burger was the driest thing ever, it's on a ciabatta loaf and the fat ration on the burger meat is off it was DRY. My husband got a pasta dish (called vinnie's plate or something like that) the pasta was overcooked and lacked flavor, a squirt of lemon and some salt could have gone a long way when cooking that. Either they sit us in the back room and forget about us, or put us up front where we are overwhelmed by the drunken noise from the bar (yea, yea, I know it's a BAR and grill...) and barked at by inattentive and rude wait staff. No pleasantries and they plunk the food down like you are inconveniencing them by being there. The New York Steak gets 2 stars because it is well cooked but so overpriced and takes about 45 minutes to appear after you order. The Bud's Burger...you mean roadkill on a hotdog bun? GROSS. Really poor service and either they discriminate or don't know how to service their clients based on first arrivals. My group and I waited over and hour and a Half to get our food and service. They serviced other people that arrived after us. (Our server was a woman I'm her early 50s, short hair and glasses) she seemed arrogant and indifferent. The food was about a 2 star but it was not worth the wait or the money. The hash browns were cold, the biscuit was reheated in the microwave, a large juice is actually a small. I took a chance at Buds this last weekend on my stay in Dixon this last weekend. The food was mediocre at best. The service was OK considering there were three large partys and only two servers in the entire restaurant it only took them 20 minutes to take our order. Now for the real fun part I had my credit card information stolen at this restaurant. And you may ask but how do you know it was stolen here, Ill tell you its the only place that card has ever been used. We had my father's Celebration of life in the back room and it was decorated beautifully the placemats are personalized with my father's name which was really special. All of the servers were on top of everything they did a magnificent job and the food was delicious we had prime rib and melted in your mouth also had a chicken and mushrooms that was delicious also. The restaurant and servers took very good care of us on a very special day that made everything flow so lovely so we could enjoy the people that came to the celebration and have a wonderful luncheon and visit.
