We came to Bufalina Due to celebrate our recent engagement, and it was a fantastic first visit! We were joined by friends who live nearby and have been a few times before (usually for takeout), and they suggested this spot -- now we know why. We arrived right at 5 PM and were seated immediately. Parking was easy in the shared lot right out front, and the location is super accessible from the main road. The happy hour deals are excellent -- half off select pizzas and bottles of wine under $100. Between the four of us, we ordered the red pie with pepperoni and the taleggio pizza, both of which qualified for the discount. We also shared the burrata appetizer, which came with fresh focaccia. Everything was delicious -- the pizzas were flavorful, the wine paired perfectly, and the burrata was creamy and fresh. Service stood out, as well: attentive without being overbearing. Our water glasses never dipped below halfway before being refilled, and the staff was warm and welcoming throughout. Pictures of the food look great, too bad I'll never be able to try any of it till I can get a babysitter because they don't have high chairs for little ones. I love going anywhere and everywhere with my kids and much rather eat with them than away from them so we left. It's probably too small of a space for them to worry about having to take up seats with high chairs and more importantly a fire hazard cause it's so small in there( even though they can move chairs which take up equal space lol ). I get it. It's also a way to keep the"cool" higher end edgy factor and unspoken trendy ambience that they are going for. How would they look on tik tok or whatever with a BABY in the background. I feel like I entered into a white wall contemporary art gallery with a pizza oven when I walked in to give them our headcount. I do want to try the Caesar salad and a pizza one day. Their Sommelier is known for selecting some of the choosiest bottles to be found (all within affordable price points) for dine-in and carry-out options. This place has some of the best pizza and Caesar salad salad I've ever had in my life. We go here anytime we want pizza because there is just no beating it. The vodka pizza with sausage is the best in my opinion. The only thing I will say is we went at about 8pm and the lighting on the booth side of the restaurant was extremely bright like we were having brunch somewhere. I know this is very nitpicky and I love the place and I will definitely be back but it just made me sad in such a romantic cool rustic looking place to have giant lights shining down onto you. Bufalina Due is one of our absolute favorite pizza spots, and we come here all the time. It's one of the only pizza places our 4 1/2-year-old genuinely loves, which says a lot. We always order an extra side of the focaccia bread for her because it's so good and a guaranteed win every time. Our usual order never disappoints: the Caesar salad is an absolute must, along with the margherita pizza and the spicy mushroom pizza. On a recent visit, we branched out and tried some of the pasta, which was also excellent. We also tried the potato pizza recently and loved it just as much as everything else. Honestly, I'm convinced you could order anything on the menu and never be disappointed. Everything is consistently delicious and thoughtfully made. As an added bonus, it's right next door to an ice cream shop, so after Bufalina Due we almost always end the night with ice cream next door, which makes the whole experience even better. Lastly, the service is always great and ambience is enjoyable. I like that the brick oven is inside of the restaurant. Caesar Salad - $18 At Bufalina, I had (still to this day), the best Caesar salad I had ever had. At Bufalina Due, the salad was just fine. Large quantity that matches the price tag but the umami flavors were missing (didn't really taste the anchovies this time). Unsure if it's a location thing or a recipe switch. Mushroom Pie - $10 Decent mushroom pizza with white sauce. Not bad but not super memorable. Zucchini Pie - $8.5 Yum! Little spicy, little tangy, lots of refreshment, I loved this pizza, especially on a hot day. Loved the flavors and the novelty. I saw the Fresca pie, which was amazing when I was at Bufalina, but it was no longer on the happy hour menu so I did not try. All in all, a good experience. Creamy, potatoey, almost like potato soup on a pizza. It has that neapolitan style with a super thin undercarriage with high heat charring. Soft and limp in the center. Love the vegetal accents from the leek and chive! Overall a very unique pizza that is yummy. I wish it was less burnt though. Taleggio: This one is another white sauce pie with their parm cream. It has sausage, so it is more meaty and savory. With a drizzle of honey, this would be perfect! Personally, I wouldn't order this flavor again and would try other pizzas. Burrata: Amazing appetizer! What a stellar happy hour we stumbled upon at this Austin Neapolitan pizza restaurant. How could you turn down 1/2 price pizza and 1/2 price bottles of wine?! The place was actually packed at 4:45pm on a Friday afternoon. We were quoted at 30 minutes, and were sat at the bar exactly one half hour later. Nicely done with the timing. The happy hour went until 5:30pm, so we got our pizza and wine order in right away. We took our server's recommendations for pizza and for the Zucchini, Vodka Arrabiatta (add sausage), and the calabrese. They appear to have the best happy hour deal in town - 1/2 off specialty pizzas and heavily discounted wines by the glass. Yes please! I ordered the red pie with pepperoni, and it was delightful. After the server's description of the burrata dish (charred, spicy broccolini and roasted tomatoes with bread), I expected it to be served warm. It was a cold dish, and I really hope whoever curated the menu reconsiders serving it warm. The pasta came out right as I was about to ask how much longer it would be before I received my entrée. I immediately noticed a visible lack of pepper in the pasta. I thought that maybe the pepper was folded into the pasta and not easily seen upon first glance. After the first bite, I realized the pepper was being overshadowed by salt. The pasta was tasty, it just didn't have enough pepper for a dish literally named cheese and pepper. The burrata had peaches which was not something I had before but it made a great pairing. The Caesar salad though was the surprising item, a pretty usual staple item but I'm not sure what it was but it was delicious. If you see my photos there's 2 pizzas; I ended up ordering four. Half off, so 4 for the price of 2, why not? I didn't have a bad one the two missing were the four cheese and the mushroom and it was gone before I realized that I didn't snap a photo. This space was great for a date night! Being new to Austin we were excited to try it out after it being recommended to us. They had a great selection of wines and a menu that wasn't too large. The Caesar salad was incredible. It had the perfect amount of cheese and it easily could've fed four people as a starter. We weren't crazy about the pasta, it seemed overly citrusy. Both pizzas were really tasty, I loved the charred thin crust! I felt like the toppings were all substantial, definitely didn't leave feeling skimped on arugula! Bufalina Due has a brick oven right in the middle of the small restaurant which gives everyone something to observe while waiting for the meal. I appreciate the half off pies at happy hour and selected a pepperoni pizza with added arugula. Very glad I made that addition. The spicy pepperoni, acidic tomato and fresh arugula paired so well with the syrah rosé I was drinking. The bitter herbs made the peppery wine taste sweeter and it was a beautiful symphony. Although I didn't get the Caesar salad, they looked iconic and massive with a mountain of lettuce and cheese. Definitely enough for the table. There are plenty of wines to choose from and the bottles are even half off at happy hour too. Clearly with these great deals and tasty food the place is in demand. However, the shared parking lot was especially cramped and the interior reflected that. Menus were some papers stapled together and could definitely use some redesign. The ranch on the side is homemade and good but not worth the $2 it costs for a tiny amount. All in all, this business has some magic in the ovens and ingredients.
