Came for the first time last night. Excellent experience. We were welcomed, and thanked for coming, by various staff members that we passed while being seated and again when leaving. Service was great with the waiter and assistant coming by frequently enough that if we had needed something we wouldn't have had to wait, without coming so frequently as to be bothersome. They were knowledgeable about the various items on the menu, different cuts of steak, etc. Food was delicious. Started with the stuffed peppers which was three halves of good sized peppers. I had a delmonico steak and it was cooked perfectly rare like I prefer. We split mac and cheese and had plenty to eat. Brought home leftovers which were well packaged (in recyclable aluminum containers) by the staff away from the table and discretely brought back in a paper bag. read more

My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday. The look and layout of the chophouse is pretty cool. The 2nd double door of the building is gorgeous and makes you look like you're entering a fancy castle! The restaurant is the classic dark and moody vibe with dim lights, dark colored furniture. There's a pretty good size bar with comfy high chairs. I wish we made a reservation a little after opening time so we can enjoy a glass of wine before dinner. Service was great, very attentive people. We started with the seafood platter. For $50 I'd say it's a pretty good deal. We got a half dozen oysters, 4 small little neck clams, half of a lobster tail (cut into 2 pieces for sharing) and 2 jumbo (like seriously jumbo) shrimps. Everything tasted really fresh and the lobster was my favorite. It was nicely cooked and chilled and soooo sweet. My husband had the Delmonico steak with peppercorn sauce and I had the 32 oz bone in ribeye with the port demi-glace. Both sauces came on the side. The ribeye was cook so well!! It was a LOT of steak. About one inch thick crusted with a very flavorful crust. There was a good amount of marble which made the steak really moist. I enjoyed every bite! I tried husband's Delmonico and even though I didn't like it as much as mine, it was still a great cook and piece of meat! We also ordered the mushrooms side to share. The mushies were cooked in sherry and was very flavorful and the mushrooms had great texture. This was a very old school fancy restaurant. I had my favorite purse with me and our table was rather small so I didn't have a place to put it. The server brought over an adorable little stool that is specifically for hats, purses etc! I've never seen that before and was delighted! The restaurant also offers a $50 discount if its within 1 week of your actual birth date. The food ranges from good to excellent. In the three years since I reviewed this establishment last, the menu has gotten considerably smaller, but the quality remains. The wait staff are well trained, and efficient. The cuts of steak can vary, from magnificently tender and succulent to gristly. The bartenders do make excellent cocktails, and the wine list would satisfy even the most demanding diner. The prices have actually come down, which is a pleasant surprise. I compared my menu photos from three years ago and they are now more in line with the Buffalo market. There is definitely talent in the kitchen, and I have no complaints about the seasoning of the cuisine here. The only thing, keeping my reviews from awarding the fifth star is the inconsistency in the cuts of meat. read more

Oh my goodness, can I just tell you about the amazing experience I had at Buffalo Chophouse? It was like a dream come true! Every single bite of my meal was pure perfection and the way the dishes were presented was just mind-blowing. If you haven't tried their dry aged steak and lobster tail yet, you are seriously missing out! As a fellow food lover, I can assure you that this place is a must-visit for all foodies out there. The menu is just incredible, we tried the Delmonico steak for dinner and let me tell you, it was seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection. It practically melted in my mouth! The lobster tail was so tender and had a hint of sweetness that just made it even more delicious. And don't even get me started on the seafood bisque - so yummy with generous chunks of lobster and crab. The chef's special potatoes au gratin were thick, creamy, and had the perfect texture. For dessert we had the crème brûlée which was the most delightful thing I've ever tasted in my entire life. I would go back just for that alone! Returned again here on the 2nd of May for a birthday dinner and was quite pleased. I of course got my signature filet mignon with asparagus. I was a little saddened that the asparagus was a little stringy this time as it is usually the thicker cut asparagus, but nonetheless still seasoned and grilled to perfection. The filet was delicious and so perfectly cooked. I prefer mine medium so it is the perfect chewy, but firm texture. Service was amazing as always. They have complimentary valet parking and a coat room. They will package your food to go for you. They even brought a stool for my purse to sit on! They do have a bar inside as well. We haven't been to the Buffalo Chophouse since before Covid, and it was great to get back. The menu offers a variety of dishes, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried. We had stuffed banana peppers to start, followed by Caesar salad and French onion soup, and then filet and mashed potatoes for dinner. I really liked the seasoning on the steak that takes it over the top with flavor. The service was good and efficient, too. The only thing I would say is the ambiance is lacking a little bit. For a fancy steakhouse, it was really loud and they did not enforce a dress code. It takes away from the experience when you're paying a few hundred dollars for dinner. read more

This was our first time and we were not disappointed. We were able to secure a table outside on the balcony which was perfect and ended up being a private dinner party because the other table out there was empty. We started with the chophouse salad which was delicious. We were shocked at how much we all enjoyed this salad. The combination and ratio of ingredients was perfect. It was a large portion so you could easily share. For dinner I split the 32 oz bone in rib eye, flying shrimp and seared scallops with my dinner companion. All were delicious and cooked perfectly. For sides we had Mac and cheese, mushrooms, mashed potatoes and asparagus. The Mac and cheese and mushrooms were very good but there was nothing special about the mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus would have benefitted from basic salt and pepper seasoning and olive oil. The service was excellent. The staff was wearing masks and was able to answer all the questions we had about the menu. Overall a good meal. The food was amazing which made up for some little hiccups. Had some minor service issues but they went overboard accommodating about it. Gave the table a free round of drinks, an additional side to share and free dessert. The steak was melt in your mouth with a delicious rub. 12/19 every seat was filled, mostly large tables-office holiday parties. I can only imagine how slammed the kitchen. Personally, I've never seen it booked solid, not too mention most tables were sat simultaneously. With that said, my expectations dropped due to volume. The Chop house pulled it off. Our steak and lobster were perfect. The tempo of the staff was spot on throughout, despite the challenge. It was impressive. The chop house remains my favorite restaurant in buffalo. I've been to the Chophouse a few times and it's been great every time. I take family and friends there when I have the means to splurge for a special treat. The lobster tails do not disappoint! Be wary of scallops st. jacques; get a colossal shrimp cocktail instead. The wine list is decent enough. I always manage to find something I like. I've never had a cocktail but I think a classic martini will be my order next time I go. Service is good; I like when servers are comfortable and personable. This last visit I made contained a few service and billing glitches but they were ironed out quickly enough. Get the enormous chocolate cake to go because they serve it straight from the cooler and it is infinitely better at room temperature. If you're in a mood for a feast Henry VIII would envy, you can find one at Buffalo Chop House. read more

We came to celebrate my birthday, and managed to snag a spot in the small parking lot, saving us a short walk (but not short enough) from my husband's office nearby, so already the evening was off to a great start. The restaurant is three levels of over-the-top opulence. High walls with burgundy and gold wallpaper, big velvet seats or smaller gold wicker chairs with leather cushions, and a big sculpture of a monkey riding a buffalo on the second floor. My food was amazing. My husband's food was less amazing, but I'm the one who had the $74 32 oz ribeye so I'm rounding up. So thick, juicy, and flavorful. I don't know how they do it. I added truffle butter, but it would have been great with or without it. I also had lobster mac. The gooey layer of cheese on top pulled beautifully, and the shells within swam in a creamy flavorful sauce. I expected heavy gooey cheese all the way through so that was a pleasant surprise. Lots of big pieces of lobster, too. So rich and filling. Everything still tasted great reheated the next day. My husband had the braised rib with a side of asparagus. The rib was so tender he didn't need a knife, but he didn't enjoy the flavors as much. Service is excellent. read more

Great steakhouse, I've never ventured in before the other day, but my wife and I decided to go for her birthday. They generally have a free steak "if you buy one" birthday special, so we took advantage of that. She had the bone in ribeye and I had the Delmonico (basically same thing but without the bone), the steaks were definitely made to perfection. Charred on top, broiled and perfectly cooked to order. Each bite was juicy and flavorful. The steaks are aged as well and the cuts seem high quality. Everything is a la carte. We started with some oysters and they were delicious, although slightly still not 100% clean, which I would expect perfection for the prices they are charging. I got a french onion soup, which was decent with nice gruyere cheese, although a bit too salty, and once again - for the prices, perfection should be delivered. The steaks were great and the mushrooms were an awesome palette cleanser in between bites. I'd definitely recommend coming here for a meal, but expect a $$$$ bill, even with a buy one-get-one sort of birthday deal. read more

I absolutely love this place. Whenever I am in Buffalo this is a must visit. It's set up as an old school chophouse, with big chairs, low lighting and wooden features. The ambiance is spot on, and the bar area is really cool. The service, especially on my last visit, was perfect. Waitress and hostess were extremely pleasant, attentive and punctual. I ordered the bone in ribeye which was one of the top 5 steaks I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, seared and seasoned. Side of mash potatoes was incredible, smooth and creamy. My wife got oysters, shrimp and halibut, which she also found great. Wine list was fantastic, as was the beer menu. Overall it was a fantastic dinner, and for sure a staple in Buffalo. Wow what an establishment. You can really judge a place by their ability to hire amazing talent. This weekend I flew out from Boston to see our favorite couple friends and they chose Buffalo Chophouse for dinner. We all got the filet mignon and lobster tail with some sides. The food was great, but our waitress, Meghan was amazing. Let's talk about Meghan..... Meghan came to the table and introduced herself.. it was friends at first sight. We were a match like peanut butter and jelly.. like Bert and Ernie.... Like Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.... It was perfect. Not only was she our waitress, but she told us about how she traveled to South Africa and dove for our lobsters and caught them by hand. She also caught all our calamari herself. Seriously, what an amazing server. Did you know she also met Tina Fey?!? What?!? Not only was she this amazing - but she also stole our couple friend from us.... But that's okay. The food was excellent, however their billing (invoice/receipt) is extremely misleading: * they charge for a reservation ($30/person), although you get 'credit' for the charge on your final bill .. unusual, but not unreasonable * when you get your bill, they 'total' everything towards the bottom of the bill .. including the 20% (fixed) service fee and the 'credit' (in my case, $180 for 6 persons)... ** what is deceitful is that below the 'total' (that already included the tip), they also put the 'tip' amount below the total ... I had literally added the 20% to the bottom (thinking it was not included).. I started adding each item up in my head and only then did I realize the 'tip' ($122) was 'already' in the total above .. ... so why out the $122 'again' below the total? * I crossed off my hand written total and out a note '$122 tip already included in the total above' .. I then put '$0' in the additional tip line ... and rewrote the exact same total as was already above .. * they also give you a separate credit card ticket for the tip (in my case $122). why? I am sure for those who are not paying attention, so you think you need to pay the server separately .. I put the separated $122 ticket in my pocket ... * they also give you a separate ticket for the deposit amount (in my case $180).. why? you decide.. I put that ticket in my pocket as well.. I had 3 people at my table try and figure out what to pay .. all 3 said 'the tip was not included in the total' .. it wasn't until we as a group added everything up, added in the $122 tip and subtracted the $180 (prepayment) did we realize that the tip was already included in the total .. I have travelled 35+ weeks/year for 25 years (minus the covid years) and I have never seen a 'scam' like this.. make sure to read your itemized bill and bring your calculator ... read more

The more times I go to the Chophouse, the better I feel the whole experience seems to become. This is quite the compliment I can bestow, because if you know anything about me from my interactions on Yelp: 1) I'm a distinguished sophisticate with impeccable taste, all while being daringly handsome, and that others find me and all of my opinions irresistibly infallible, and 2) I typically criticize many establishments for ramping up towards a higher level of commercializing, and I find it irritating that they do so. Pet peeve of mine big time. Chophouse seems to instead be ramping up into a position of pure mastery, a near one-of-a-kind in its class of the craft of serving some of the finest food in Buffalo paired with top-notch service, and all in the ambiance few people in these world are lucky enough to experience. Funny to think that all of these wonderful things are right here in backyard, and not, I don't know, right on top of the Beverly Hills being served up by fancy butlers on silver platters. The encrusting on the steak they use here is a worldly example of divine intervention. That's right, you heard me correctly. God, his or herself did not want you to enjoy such a perfect steak without this encrusting, and he/she intervened divinely. Our server's name was Rueben. My husband made reservations here for our anniversary. We arrived and were given a parking pass. Once parked, we entered the building. We were promptly seated upstairs. They maintained social distancing between tables. The servers were prompt and friendly. One thing I appreciated the most was that servers were changing gloves frequently! You don't see that often! Can't stop thinking about the filet mignon that I had with black truffle butter. It was so good, very good vibes, friendly great service, fun decor and atmosphere. The potatoes au gratin were unbelievable as well. Also the chop salad was everything I wanted in a salad. Ordered scallop and clams casino appetizers, both were good , I preferred the scallops, done over apples. Complimented by a Riesling glass of wine. Had a bone in ribeye for my entree, cooked to medium rare as requested, Very tasty . Accompanied by a baked potato, mushroom and Brussel sprout sides, generously portioned and well prepared. Service was good throughout the evening. Had a Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara California with the entree. Finished with a Banana Foster dessert which topped the evening. I can't believe we waited a year to come here; truly a great experience. First, it was very busy, but still felt like the staff was doing a great job of keeping things safe in regards to COVID precautions. The meal was really fantastic, truly one of the best we've had in Buffalo. The steak was heavily seasoned, but cooked really well. While a little different from what you might find at a chain steakhouse, the flavor was great. The salmon preparation was STELLAR. We had the mushrooms and carrots as sides, and both were delicious. Additionally, the cocktails were great and the dessert was generously portioned. The shrimp cocktail appetizer had great shrimp, but the cocktail sauce was not the best -- a minor complaint, truly. My daughter turned 17! So I decided to take her somewhere nice. After looking around, I spotted the birthday deal. This place is quite pricey so I wasn't sure I wanted to go here but with the birthday deal, why not? If you buy an entree you get free entree, equals or lesser value. Every thing is ala carte. My daughter ordered the steak, I got the lamb loin and we also ordered calamari as appetizer and sundae for dessert. The foods exception of calamari is really good. I'm very picky with my calamari. To me this calamari taste like from frozen not fresh. A bit chewy, flavor just ok. The steak is good and cooked perfectly and so was the lamb. But the lamb is kind of on smaller sz. Our server was aware that we were also going to a show, and they serviced us accordingly. We loved that. They are also knowledgeable about the menu and drink options that pair well together. Not too much to say about the breadbasket given while you wait for your food; it seemed to have been baked out of a bag. We think there may be an opportunity to maybe pair with a local bakery. The steaks were exactly what you anticipate when you are paying top dollar. Nicely seasoned, tender, and juicy. The lobster mac and cheese had a baked-on layer of cheese that needed to be cracked like creme brulee. Although be aware that the lobster portion of it is simply chunks on top, not baked throughout the dish. Besides that, it was so good it could be eaten as a main dish.
