Dear Buffalo Exchange Sherman Oaks, How did I never go in more often or appreciate you before 2020. Now you're closed for the time being... super sad elongated sigh... All your wonderful second hand pieces are just lingering in the meander of what is "rona" not to be mistaken for the Oscar winning film Roma of a similar name.... While parking on Ventura Blvd is never great you were easy to access from side streets or lots in the area. You brought a sense of community to not just Sherman Oaks, but the SFV and Los Angeles in it's entirety. The local free magazines, flyers, business cards and bulletins pinned, displayed and hung here echoed this in massive surround sound. Even the music whispering on high was eclectic. Now all I can do is dream... Of the care your staff put into every sale and the clothing I've yet to add to my wardrobe in nothing less than B+ & above grade condition. Wish... For those pair of $30 vintage boots or $20 all white "very good" quality sneakers I planned to come back for after taxes. Kick... I've always had good experiences purchasing from Buffalo. The prices are higher than other thrift shops, but then again this isn't your average thrift shop. You're more guaranteed to find somewhat nicer/name brand clothing here. I don't think they're the best to sell clothes to. They're very picky and pretty much reject everything which I find weird bc i see they also accept brands like SHEIN. read more

For the longest time I've been driving past this partially noticing it saying someday I should check it out. That day finally came when my relationship with a nice pair of shoes that I bought years ago finally culminated with the realization that it just wasn't going to work out between us. So upon remembering that a friend had told me that they had traded in clothing here I decided to take the plunge. This is one of three stores in the LA area. The others being on Melrose and in Santa Monica. I wish I hadn't parked in a meter on Ventura and used their lot behind the store so I had more time to browse. I walked in only to find about 6 people with bags of items. Ugh. Someone recommended I use my polite indoor voice and see if they would let me pass in front to the counter. Shout out to Paris, one of the more gregarious buyers working the opposite counter. It worked. They give you cash or a higher credit if you want to use it on a purchase. Let it be known this is not a "Vintage" clothing shop where you go looking for that outfit for the 70's disco party. This is contemporary clothing for the most part and there are definitely deals to be had. It seems to have more women's clothing than men's. And prices vary but are within reason. Most of the stuff that comes in is on the floor within a couple hours and If you spot an item while it's being turned in they'll work with you. I'll definitely be back to look for some hidden gems. The Caucasian woman with short hair working today 12/30/2023, morning shift, I did not get her name, when she opened the back door was very rude. I greeted her good morning and she did not even respond back. She just looked at me rudely.Unfriendly and Bad customer service at this location. Ventura and Santa Monica staff are so approachable. She was also person at the register when I was trying to sell my things. All she did was went through my clothes really quickly but was not even really paying attention the whole time! She was on the phone while going through my clothes. She was Very unprofessional. Buffalo exchange should not hire this kind of toxic people! read more

This is actually my favorite thrift in Los Angeles, unfortunately I haven't gotten to writing a review until now. Today I was shopping and I had a horrible experience with one of the employees named Kim(at least that's what she told me her name was). She was incredibly rude for absolutely no reason and gave me immense attitude even after she was rude and disrespectful to I continued trying to be nice to which she responded in a blatantly rude manner again. I also work customer service and I completely understand having a long day and sometimes not being very bubbly to customers, but the way she was treating me and my friends was absolutely beyond rude. It honestly looks really bad on the store and and is definitely going make me think twice about coming here again. I would usually give the store a five out of five stores with almost all of the staff being incredibly nice, I've never had an experience like this, but I was just baffled at the audacity she had to act towards a customer in that manner. The only reason I'm giving the store two stars is for the other employees who were absolutely incredible, whilst the whole debacle with Kim was happening after I checked out, I went to speak to another one of the staff members who was incredible very kind and was making jokes with us, this is exactly what I expect from staff at a store that I am spending money at. read more

They've upgraded their selling process by signing up with a we code which is good and bad. You better be close by when your number is up or they will move to thx next one. Some buyers are friendly and some sadly are not. Other employees are rude. There's no such thing as friendly customer service. It's sad. I usually have r notes selling my stuff there when I'm lucky to have the main member (blonde). She's very nice. And the fact they donate to charity is great. But when others have a condescending attitude to sellers it makes the experience very negative. If you see clothes they have to sell vs the clothes you want them to buy it's a major contradiction. They're not Wasteland. I don't see Gucci or Prada so don't make us feel we are less than if we don't have it. Very disappointed. Go elsewhere. read more

My fiancée and I stopped by here since she wanted to sell her old clothes. She never sold her clothes before so this was her first experience. Since this place is on Ventura Blvd, you basically have to look for street parking mostly. But I looked at Google map before coming and saw that there was a private parking lot for I think We'll Fargos on Vasper. So we just parked there since I figure we wouldn't be there long. My fiancée made an appointment and brought 2 bags full of clothes. They only took like 3 and you can choose to cash out or get store credit. She chose to cash out and of course she only made less an a value meal at a fast food store, store credit would've given her double the amount but she doesn't like the clothes selection. It was not worth the time and drive to come here but the people working at the store are very nice. read more

A grateful shout out to Kat and Yvette today at Buffalo Exchange! I came in all gloomy and sad with a dress to sell because it was a gift but way way way too small on me. Brand new, brand name, never worn. Kat gave me a fair price and store credit. I was able to get myself a gorgeous rayon blouse for springtime and a pair of black skinny jeans that actually fit me great! When I went to pay, I was short about 19 cents. Yvette was ringing me up. I scrounged around for change at the bottom of my purse, and Yvette even dug around her pocket for me. Luckily, I was able to find some nickels, dimes, pennies, and a quarter -- just enough for what I needed to pay the small difference. This store has no haughty attitude whatsoever. All of the employees are friendly, grounded, and real. Such nice people. I was so sad coming in and so happy coming out! Thank you, Kat and Yvette and Buffalo Exchange! read more

I've only ever given bad reviews a couple of times, it's not something I like to do. That being said, I was extremely disappointed leaving this store yesterday. So much so, that I gave my joke of a store credit to a man who shopped their often because I don't ever plan on returning. I brought in two decent size bags full of high end (some vintage) jeans, name-brand shoes, new dresses with tags, and a very expensive new faux fur jacket, all of which were nicer than anything I saw hanging on the racks (in my subjective opinion). The woman going through my stuff was barely paying attention. It was like I wasn't even there most of the time. She went through my items as though she was already prepared to say no, and she denied everything I had accept a new-in-box pair of vans that she gave me $11 store credit, or $5 cash. Like I said, I took the credit (because $5?) and gave it to a regular on my way out. She rejected Free People, Levi's, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Nike, yet I saw Target for sale. My fiancé was appalled by her rudeness, carrying on a full conversation with other employees the entire time. I wish I had taken back the shoes and not done any business with them at all, but at least I got to help someone else out a little. Don't waste your time here. read more

I used to shop here all the time because of the style of clothing in the store would suit my taste. The service was always good but unfortunately now it's declined. I came by to sell clothes this time which was a first for me. I brought in some clothes that are somewhat expensive(very popular in demand clothes). They are picky with what they take which i understand completely. They chose 5 of my items and tried lowballing me. They gave me a total price of $20 cash or $40 something store credit. One of my pair of jeans retails for almost $150 and they were willing to buy them off me for $18. I found this ridiculous, the reasoning they gave me was because they would price them at $28. Absolutely a lie in my eyes since i've shopped here most jeans range from $25-50+ dollars. Don't waste ur time selling here. Do depop or go across the street to 2nd street because they will give u a reasonable price for your clothing!! read more

I love looking for vintage clothing, especially levis. They're so hard to find my boyfriend introduced this place to me and I fell in love. I love coming here in finding new clothing. Everyone is nice and they always get a good stock of clothes. I also like that everything is super clean highly recommend this place. Friendly staff greeted me. I came to sell some business attire from the 90s on commission. Good quality dresses and suits, trousers and tops. They didn't want a single thing. I took in 2 purses (Brighton and Coach) and a pair of Doc Martin boots. The manager was very professional and nice. I got about $12 each for the items cash and she said they would sell them for $48 to $50. I thought this was fair since they have overhead and have to pay their staff and it saved me the hassle of trying to sell them on EBay and mailing them to the buyer. I felt good about these items getting "recycled." It is good for the environment and they have a nice little store. I know there are other reviews where a lot of clothing was rejected but they have to consider what will sell in their market. There were quite a few people brining in loads of stuff and it took time for the manager to inspect each item and be thoughtful about her decisions. read more

Awful customer service. Okay, I don't know the manager's name, but he dealt with me when I sold my clothes he took nothing. He was also so rude and didn't even take my ID or greet me. There was another worker right next to me dealing with another customer and he was actually so kind and talkative and actually took her clothes... so better hope you get that guy instead of mine. I'm writing this review simply because I'm truly amazed by how rudely the manager runs the store here. I came with a bunch of clothes today, and waited for over 45 minutes to be seen- but they were so busy, I was chilling! When I got to the counter to be helped, the employees were super nice and started looking through my stuff. I had a lot of stuff so they asked if I wanted to shop around the store while they look through. So I did! I had two handfuls of clothes in my hands to try on and keep looking through the store when they called my name to tell me I was done. The employee walked away and the manager said "I love that your shopping, but you have to stop and take all of this stuff to your car right now." I was surprised, because every single person in front of me was told they could leave their belongings in the front area while they continued shopping, and I was basically thrown out to the curb. I told the lady that I'd only be a minute and I was going to purchase some stuff, and she said that if I didn't move it right now she'd take it outside and leave it there because "they can't be liable for my stuff?" I was so confused that I just simply said that everyone else had been allowed to and then in front of the whole store, this lady goes "well I'm the manager here and none of my employees were doing the right things so I'll have to tell them" And I immediately felt bad, I felt like I was putting all these other employees in a weird position, when in reality the only person showing impeccably bad customer service was this manager. I mean if I have to take my things away immediately, then why let me shop through the store while you're working? She needs to take a lesson in human kindness and empathy. I ended up leaving with cash, which is sad for them because I had over $200 in clothes I was JUST ABOUT to buy but didn't because that manager threatened to throw my belongings on the curb because I wanted to buy new items before leaving the store... Hi. I came in to shop and found the perfect dress. I was checked out by a lady with a wig on sorry I don't know her name. I left home and the next day I was taking off the price tag to wash it when I see the big security tag still attached to the dress. It is so unprofessional and incompetent for the employee to miss that when I purchased one 1 dress. That is so ridiculous to have to drive all the way back when I have other things planned out for my day. When I arrived I confronted her in person to remove the tag she left on. She didn't say sorry and kept doing a buy. Letting her key manager deal with me with a very condescending manner and non apologetic when I described how inconsiderate and inconvenient this situation was. It was an Asian man sorry don't know his name. Never will I trust them and will have to diligently supervise when I make a purchase? Wth is customer service here? Really weird employees. read more

I brought some clothes and shoes to sell here at this Buffalo Exchange location, and it was my 1st time at this store. But I use to sell my clothes and shoes in Hollywood, FL a few years ago until they closed down. Before that I sold my stuff at the New Orleans, LA location and back in Santa Monica, CA and San Francisco, CA locations. TBH, the San Francisco location was my 1st experience with this chain and that back in the 1990s, and I bought and sold clothes there all the time. This Buffalo Exchange was wonderful. OMG! It brought memories of the San Francisco location. The staff was friendly and helpful plus very professional. They bought many of clothing items n shoes, but they didn't buy everything. I fully understand. I've been selling clothes at Buffalo Exchange since the 1990s so I understand. This location is great and highly recommend it! read more

Do not bring your clothes here to resell if you're a woman, or even bother shopping. Went multiple times and they have incompetent buyers who only take their style (all male streetwear), and the quality of items in the store reflect this. Declining Lululemon and Free People items new with tags while having beat up wild fable clothes and fast fashion is ridiculous. Will never shop here and tell everybody to avoid. read more

I'm not sure why this place does not have a higher rating, but I had a very positive experience. I have gone to another Buffalo exchange and this one had a far better selection. Lots of name brand things at a quarter of the price and in great condition. The employees had the best energy and offered wonderful customer service. (And we were there right before closing too)I also loved how unique they all were and dressed (we love inclusion). My sister and I went there as our last stop after a long day of shopping and wished we would have started there because we found so many goodies! I literally got in here right after they opened and saw there was a line. Lots and lots of boxes and gallon bags overflowed the line in front of me. There was only one buyer up front, trying to get through the buys as quickly as possible. I think this was the worst I've ever seen it at this location. Another buyer which I believe was the manager didn't come out until an hour after the store had open and she was only onto the third person. Yet she didn't help move the line any quicker, she was helping in on another giant buy. I didn't get up to sell until 1.5 hours later of waiting. I mean I can't complain too much since they did buy a lot of my stuff in, but I mean c'mon.. when you see people with bags and suitcases in line get another buyer up there !! I needed to head home after so I just went to the cashier after and grabbed my trade and headed out. Plus it was way to pack to be shopping around inside for a Monday. I came here years ago and had a decent experience. I have to say it has gone downhill. I brought in some practically new mens jeans and really nice shirts. Plus some of my own things. They took a few things and as I was waiting to get credit I shopped around. I was shocked at the quality of the clothing considering they didn't take any of the nicer clothing I offered. The women selection was trash. Literally I saw casual corner and target stuff. The shoes are dirty and falling apart. I could not find one decent thing. The buyers are lacking in judgment . Started off tricky as one of the customers overstepped their position. I had just walked in and set a bag down to sell, and a customer jumped on me thinking I was butting in line. I let her know I was not jumping the line. (it does seem pretty basic just to have a sign in sheet so no one gets their feathers in a ruffle-and you can shop while you're waiting your turn to sell) I was cut off guard with how much commotion was around me just putting down a bag -- I decided to leave and went back inside to speak with who's in charge about the experience. To my pleasant surprise, the employee that was at the counter, had been looking for me to apologize on the behalf of the customer that overstepped. It's rare these days employees, and in general anybody steps in and says that there was a miscommunication in a professional and authentic way. The staff here did just that.
