My favorite bar for wings In Massachusetts, hands down. Worth the drive from anywhere.

Apart from the cash only policy this experience was a good one we ordered nearly every flavor of wings on the menu accompanied with a few beers. While the wings are more expensive than most it's within the Spectrum when you evaluate the whole experience. Service was average typical for a college Style Bar you won't get Superior Service and attention but they won't ignore you you may have to ask for everything you are looking for from napkins to water refills to having plates taken off the table to make room for more. None of which should be considered out of the ordinary again the only drawback is bringing enough cash to keep the party going without having somebody run out to the ATM. Most know there would be only one reason why a restaurant would want to stay cash only in today's economy but I'll leave my politics aside since it's not food-related. Our experience for a party of two left a tab of approximately $70 plus tip we did order heavy in order to gained the most from our experience and bring home leftovers however we did eat most of what we intended to bring home. read more

First and last time going here. Was expecting some decent wings for 25 dollars. What I got was the exact opposite.

This place was supposed to be known for their wings... I must have missed the memo. BBQ wings were drenched in sauce, couldn't even split flavors despite getting 20 wings, and the basket of fries was OK. To make matters worse, the service was terrible, and I honestly I try to give establishments the benefit of the doubt during peak hours, but this was inexcusable (love asking the host for the tab). I have heard about Buff's and their wings for so long and finally got here last month with my fiance! WORTH THE WAIT. The hot honey was our favorite - started with an order of the classic, bone-in wings. Then got nachos and some more wings, boneless this time (hot honey again). One of my new favorite places! Chicken is very fresh and amazing quality and flavor. Love the sandwiches, salads and of course the wings! Reason for a 4 star instead of 5 stars: 1) Burrito was not good. Should be redone or removed from menu. 2) I would love to see some more sauce/flavor options for their legendary wings. Honey mustard and teriyaki is pretty standard but surprisingly not offered. If they want to get a little creative then I would definitely try a Thai peanut or Asian or Indian inspired flavor. read more

Fast forward 6 years since my last review, we've moved back to the neighborhood, and we had a Déjà vu experience! Feasting on their chicken wings in house (a couple of times since moving back) still is a stellar experience despite the aloof attitude of the staff and it being a cash only place. Superbowl Sunday wings take-out still is a mediocre, underwhelming disappointment with an absolute lack of flavor. It's like they use half the amount of sauce on each order on Superbowl Sunday. The wings are average - tough and a little too big. They need to go with a higher quality chicken wing vendor. Buff's is nowhere near the gold standard that Duff's and the Anchor Bar bring, but neither of them are in the Boston area, unfortunately. If I could give 3.5 stars, I would. My BF and I got here around 7:30 on a Friday night. We were told we would have to wait 30 minutes but that turned into 50 minutes. Be prepared for this to happen because it seems as though they are understaffed. We ordered the french fries, 10 Buffalo wings and 10 honey hot wings. Fries were average, buffalo wings were slightly above average and honey hot wings were REALLY above average. I am a buffalo person but if I were to go back I would definitely just do the honey hot wings. read more

If you want to come for some wings and drinks without all the fancy decor, this is the place to go. I think I had just about every flavor and the only one I didn't care for was the Maple hot. As for the best wings in Boston, they are really good but I've had better. So many different choices on the menu besides just wings, but since my friend wanted to come here for the wings, it was a good opportunity to come since its been on my to go list for a while now. The wings were sauced just right which is a big plus for me, some places i've been to in the past either over sauce or under sauce. That will ruin my experience for me. My favorite flavor would have to be the honey hot, as it has the perfect ratio of sweet and spicy. You start having a tough time stopping yourself from eating one wing after another. Some people maybe look down upon establishments who take cash only and its 2016 blah blah blah who doesn't take cards blah blah blah. I don't have an issue with this as there is an atm right next door. Service was always very attentive with refilling drinks and making sure to take away the bone baskets and switching it out for new ones. We ended up counting up the amount of wings we ordered and it tallied up to an astounding 140 pieces. Conveniently located right off the mass pike exit, parking can be somewhat tricky as the side streets are permit parking only for residents after a certain hour. I'll be back for some more honey hot wings for sure. PS: don't be that person who disrespects chicken wings and leaves tons of meat still attached to the bone. read more

Buffs is an awesome local spot in Newton. You walk in and feel like you're at a small and cozy sports bar. The food is great and they have so many different local craft beer options and sports on tv. We have had to wait a while to sit even with a reservation, but the managers have always been apologetic when this was the case even once getting us a round on the house. If you come here you'll be taken care of eventually, just make sure you have some time to spare because sometimes it's a little slow moving. read more

This place was recommended to me by 2 of my coworkers. This is a classic pub that serves solid food. This place reminds me of a similar vibe to Candlelight Inn in Scarsdale, NY. This place is cash only, and they serve some solid wings. The other food items looked legit when I looked around at the tables. This place seems to be consistently crowded. Hands down, the absolute best wings around. Even after moving 30 mins away, we still go out of our way to go to Buff's whenever we're craving wings. I've tried a bunch of the flavors, but honey hot are my favorite. Perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and tons of meat on the bones. The half wing plate is the perfect portion with 10 wings and your choice of hand cut fries, sweet potato fries or onion rings. They're a little stingy with the blue cheese, so I always ask for extra. I can't speak to the rest of the menu because I've only ever had the wings. They get very crowded, the service is just OK and they're cash only. Usually I'd remove a star for all of those "negatives", but the wings are just so damn good that they still get 5 stars from me. read more

I've never reviewed Buff's Pub?? SHAME ON ME!!! Been here 5 times and every time it was delish! Best chicken wings around IMO. Honey Hot is the preferred flavor by most people. Just the right amount of sweet and zing to get the job done. This place is usually VERY crowded every night of the week so be prepared to wait. Or get there early and score a seat at the bar. They have a vast menu of items that look tasty but i always get the wings. Crack wings as me and my friends like to call them because they are so addictive. And they carry Heineken Light. WOOHOO! Full disclosure it is cash only which can be inconvenient, but with a Bank of America next door it's not so bad. The wings were delicious, I recommend the honey hot ordered extra crispy! While the food is very reasonably priced, when ordering a glass of wine and beer tab came out to $20! Came here today and have to say it was very good. We got the wings and the spicy chicken sandwich. The wings were why I came and was not disappointed. They were large, crispy, and delicious in the medium buffalo sauce. They big surprise was how great the spicy chicken was. The habenaro and other spices they coat it with was really tasty! Wings baby. Wings. First time back since the Celtics lost in 7 to the Heat last year. Sad... On a brighter note the wings here are still pretty good. I got the honey hot sauce, for some reason the wings seemed over fried and it looks like the chickens are getting a bit thinner these days. Buff's is a cute little place. It's a bar/pub. The stuffed buffalo head is a nice touch. The restaurant was pretty empty on the evening of July 3. The Harpoon IPA on tap didn't have the best head- maybe it was towards the end of the barrel. The waitstaff were pleasant and efficient. We decided to do some chicken wing research. We had an order of old school Buffalo wings, extra hot and well done. The wings were cooked perfectly. Buff's extra hot sauce is equivalent to medium strength elsewhere. It was good. We tried some of their garlic/cheese/sriracha wings in the interest of science. The main flavor that came through was that of the garlic. There was a hint of sriracha and no detectable cheese. The wings were fine, though. I am a chicken wing traditionalist. We also tried the chili-cheese fries, strictly for research purposes. They were very good. NB: Cash only! This is a small place with booths, seats at the bar, and center islands to stand at with a drink. They have about 6 large screen TVs and a closet of a bathroom for one person. I loved the half order of Sweet Hot wings. The full order would have been too many for me alone especially since I also tried the Chili Cheese Fries. Wrong choice there. It looked awesome when the big hot full plate came out. However, we didn't think the cheese was cheese. Seems more like a cheese product. The Chili had a good taste but overall it was not as good as I had hoped and only picked at it. As mentioned, the place only takes cash and although I had planned on stopping to get money I failed. Luckily, or well planned on their part, there is a Bank of America ATM just around the corner. Really a hop and skip. The tables fill up fast and there is a wait list. I've been going here since the early 90s but the last 4-5 times there has been issues with the door man we left without eating due to him. The time before the bartender accused us of trying to leave without paying in front of the whole restaurant because the waitress never picked up the check.
