Stopped by Buffs with my daughter on our way to see the Bruins. Ordered the half wing plate which consists of 10 crispy wings, a side of fries and celery with blue cheese. All delicious. While we were there channel 5 out of Boston ( the chronicle) set up next to us and did a interview with Buffs manager. After interviewing the manager they turned the camera on us and asked us about the great wings and why we had chosen Buffs. Also gave them a brief wing eating demonstration! Happened into Buff's to watch the Celtics first round game vs the Brooklyn Nets. Great atmosphere! We shared the Buff's Burger, which is their basic burger with lettuce and tomato. Frankly it's the best burger I've ever had. We also ordered the 10 piece wings, which are great. The next time we go to Buff's, it will only be the Buff's Burger with either the included fries or rings. Still dreaming of that burger. Great wings, but almost nonexistent customer service. We were seated really quickly and our wings came out faster than I expected with how busy they were. But our waitress barely spoke a word to us and even walked off once without any acknowledgement as to why. And is was not just us. Other people in our our section were literally having to shout for her to come back. Then we asked for a box which never came and I finally had to go get one my self once I saw that she wasn't coming. I would give the wings 5 stars, but stayed at 3 due to the service. I am a Newton resident so I've ordered wings in the past. Hadn't had any in months so today I decided to order some to go on my way home. I always order them well done but was told the proper way to order is to order them "xtra-extra crispy". I called at 530pm and was told they'd be ready in 15 minutes. Stopped in this afternoon for a carnivore lunch ... vegetarian girlfriend is out of town. Wanted to try two sauces so I ordered two 6-piece wings (xtra hot buffalo, honey hot). Both were delicious, honey hot is probably the fave. Xtra hot buffalo was not super hot, just under my heat preference for a buffalo sauce, but still very tasty. Buff's Pale ale (Harpoon product) did well to wash everything down, mellow hops and on the malty-er side of pale ales. Caesar salad was also great, lots of Parm and not stingy on croutons. I probably shouldn't eat for a week after this visit, but totally worth it! Lastly, props to the bartender for being friendly, attentive, and changing the keg in seconds flat. I personally can't comment on the food as the server said she couldn't say whether they could cook a burger on a clean grill or separately in a pan as I have a gluten allergy and never checked. My family got the wings. They were just ok. Once the server took the order she never returned. Someone else brought over the food. No one ever asked how the food was. No one ever came over when our drinks were empty. We literally sat there for over 45 minutes waiting for a bill. It was not busy as we were there at 2pm on a Sunday. Picked up two chicken tendy plates from Buff's the other week while visiting friends and enjoyed the meal quite a bit! We got the buffalo and hot honey flavoured tenders with onion rings and fries! First time here. This is a local sports bar. It's small, there's also a bar. I just had a simple hot wings with cheese fries. I wasn't too crazy about the fries being that it was microwaved. Tho I get it places do microwave the cheese on top but you can tell it was in the microwave too long. It was packed upon arrival. The servers were nice. Tho when I arrived, I didn't know if I can just sit myself or wait to be seated. So I sat myself down and than a waiter showed. Now, this place does not accept credit/debit cards. It's CASH ONLY! The only downside to that is that they don't tell you that until they bring you the bill. I think they should address that upon arrival, tho they do have an ATM machine, but people like myself don't want to pay ATM fees just to pull out cash. There's something about those wings and rings... The desperate random wing craving during end of my 3rd trimester was serious and mediocrity wouldn't be tolerated. Discovered Buff's and I wasn't disappointed. The restaurant/bar is very unassuming and when you walk by every table there are piles of wings being devoured. I'm all about texture and consistency and these wings are spot on. The honey hot (great balance of not-too-sweet and hot) is my fave but I did notice some of the sauces taste similar with a hot sauce base. The icing in this proverbial wing cake is 10 wings will run you only $11 and I couldn't finish them all. My absolute favorite menu item: THE ONION RINGS which should be called onion bracelets bcz they're huge! But size isn't the only thing these babies offer they're crispy, crunchy, battered perfectly and hit the spot. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the brow raising cash only policy. There's an ATM next door but it's a major inconvenience. Reasonably priced. Laid back. And great food. What's not to like? read more

I love their wings so much it makes me want to cry. I come visit Boston annually from Atlanta and make sure I stop by Buffs. The honey hot and honey barbecue are my favorite flavors. The wings are fried perfectly (although sometimes I ask for even crispier), good size, juicy, and packed with so much flavor. These are literally the best wings I've had. The interior is nothing spectacular, looks like a bar. I'm not a fan because it's dark and can be really crowded. Service has been okay, but can be slow on busy nights. THEY ARE A CASH ONLY ESTABLISHMENT. Which also means they dont do GrubHub or Ubereats. :( I just really love their wings. read more

Buff's Pub is a tiny little place, but still packed with plenty of customers! We ordered take out for a crispy chicken sandwich, grilled chicken sandwich, honey teriyaki wings, and buffalo nachos. The wings were definitely the highlight of this meal. I was expecting honey teriyaki to be sweeter, but it definitely had a punch of spiciness to it. The buffalo nachos were topped with fresh tomatoes, lettuce, and onions that were all still crisp and crunchy. Take out nachos are not the best since the cheese ended up all together in chunks of the dish. The buffalo chicken was shredded and spicy, a bit dry, but overall okay. The crispy chicken was definitely also on the dry side and needed some extra sauce. The bread was pretty thick, which made it pretty filling. The portions are quite big and you would definitely be able to split one with a friend. Overall, I'd recommend getting the wings if you try out Buffs! read more

A half order for $8.95 was plenty for the three of us given that none of us were actually hungry... it was just a good time to hang out and to have a snack. We were told by 2 different employees that a half order is 8 wings or 10 wings. I think I counted 9 wings split into two sections apiece, served fresh and hot. One dc commented that it was like they had tried to hard with the honey. I wasn't crazy about it, but I was glad to finally experience these wings. The spicy folk amongst us liked the flavor of the x hot, but they could have handled hotter wings. Hot sauces (2 types) were available for those who think the wings needed something extra. read more

This review is only about the buffalo wings, not about the pub itself. However, since Buff's claim to fame is their wings the two stars is fitting enough. Being something of a buffalo wing aficionado I heard good things about Buff's. Apparently whoever I heard that from has never had decent buffalo wings. Because these wings were terrible. The only saving grace for Buff's "Famous" wings is the sauce, their sauce was very decent, not too vinegary, just right. The meat is the issue. They fryolate the wings, good wings are ALWAYS baked, never fryolated. Even so, you can fryolate them fairly well but these were definitely over-cooked so that the tendons were hardened lumps. The chicken itself is poor quality, tough, gristly and gross. Either the batch I had was from tough elderly birds or the meat is factory-farm. Idk, not going back to this place for wings. Maybe their other fare is better. read more
