Some item unfortunately, are online exclusives only. I always get the plushies that are in stock in store and the ones the store doesn't carry I'll order online unstuffed and have it stuffed in store as I've noticed lately that there corporate half ass stuffs the plushies. I try to buy my plushies in on sale as sometime you can get 2 for the price of 1 different cannot beat the price. The customer service , however is hit and miss sadly. read more

This place gets busy!! We went recently to claim our birthday bear. There was so many people. It was our first time, so luckily we were able to flag a worker down to help us. The instructions were pretty self explanatory after we figured things out. So many options to choose from, and plenty of clothes for your bear. We opted for no clothes. I don't know what it is about Build A Bear that gives me anxiety. I get way too overstimulated following my daughter around while she takes 1,000 minutes to decide on what animal she wants to stuff. We drove to the Galleria today specifically so we could go to Build A Bear because the one closer to us in Arden Fair Mall is closed now. I think the stuffed animals are overpriced, but I do understand the whole experience of what Build A Bear offers. I bought my daughter a Zombie Axolotl the last visit, so this visit was strictly to buy it an outfit and accessories. We walked out only spending about $30 which was cheaper than I thought it would be. Staff wasn't anything special - they were mostly busy helping the other customers bring their stuffed animals to life. I hope I don't have to come back soon! read more

I brought my niece here on a Saturday night. She has never done this experience. It was busy however this staff did a great job, welcoming each person that came into the door and showing they were valued. I really appreciated the warm conversations that were offered to her as she experienced her first build a bear. The staff that did the stuffing was kind and did a great job making a special experience. It seems like it was natural for her to talk about all the steps to warm up the heart to make it strong, brave and sweet like her. As she lift up the bear, she asked my niece about her interest and told her about different things that were available in the shop. It did not feel like an up sale, but instead trying to connect with us as customers. I walked around the store we were able to find many different accessories and outfits for her bear. The only thing that felt clunky was creating the birth certificate part I remember this is a kid so I knew what to do, but I feel like if I did not know we wouldn't not have done that part. Which is not a huge deal. Just wanted to mention it. We went to the counter. The man that rang us up was kind and welcoming. We kept all the tags on everything and got the bear dressed, and he offered to cut them off after purchase so that she would not have to worry about damaging her bear or the outfit or accessories we got. I think this is still a really cool experience for kids and highly recommend. It can get pricey quick I would recommend as you go through the process think about how to set up expectation for your kid prior to looking at the accessories because it can get very expensive very quickly. Because she picked a bear that had details on the bottom of the feet when we talked about shoes, I said well we don't wanna hide those details so shoes or socks are not important for your bear. Can we focus on getting one top and one bottom? And she liked that approach. It went very well. The only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five was not because the quality of product or the service but instead because of the way it's laid out like any kind of toy opportunity. I was honestly disappointed with our experience at Build-A-Bear for my seven-year-old's birthday. I understand employees are human, and I'm not expecting anyone to jump up and down or act overly charismatic, but the employee helping us had the exact same expression the entire time and didn't make the experience feel welcoming or exciting for a child. She also didn't explain the instructions on how to stuff the bear or really guide us through the process, which took away from what should have been a fun and memorable experience. I actually had to instruct my daughter myself on how to stuff the bear, which thankfully I remembered from past visits, because the employee gave almost no direction throughout the experience. At one point, my seven-year-old's foot accidentally came off the pedal while stuffing the bear, and the employee gave her a dirty look that honestly made the situation uncomfortable. After stitching the bear, she simply walked away without saying anything, which made the whole interaction feel really awkward and unwelcoming. I even attached a photo because the expression shown there was genuinely the same expression she had during the entire interaction. On top of that, I spent almost $100, so I expected a little more customer engagement and enthusiasm. Maybe in the future, staff can be reminded that when working around children, having at least a warm and upbeat attitude really matters. I work with children myself, and while there are definitely days I don't feel 100%, I still do my best because I know the energy you bring affects the kids' experience. Unfortunately, this visit just felt very underwhelming for such a special occasion. read more

It was my daughters 13th birthday she wanted to go to build a bear there are so many selections ,the kind people who work here were very helpful and sweet we had help from Charles such a nice guy he helped my daughter find the perfect forever friend ,she choose the monkey and picked out shoes and shorts and a top so cute most accessories were around 5-10 dollars and the bears and other animals from $14 on up ,my daughters monkey was 20 dollars the three outfits were 10 a piece and she got a heart beat , a sound and a scent everything came out to around $70 dollars. It was worth it my daughter is so happy she named her monkey Josh lol!!! The lovely Emma helped my daughter fill her monkey and made the whole experience very special. my sister and i went for my niece's 3rd birthday, everyone was super sweet and helpful EXCEPT this one man. i mentioned how it was our first time in he had an attitude elaborating how everything worked. if you hate your job get a new one? Tommy then jumped in he noticed how we were frustrated with the other man he was able to deescalate everything and ensure we had a pleasant experience. as i work in customer service i understand it's not always the easiest to make every interaction the happiest but it's not hard to be a decent human being. didn't catch his name but he had glasses and a side comb over. very rude i hope he doesn't treat the children with the same tute he treated us with :) read more

Did an online order that arrived extremely deformed and defective, which I intended to exchange in this store for a decent version of the same product. They did not have in store so I wanted to do a return. The incompetent staff is demanding that I provide them with a receipt even though I made it abundantly clear that it was an online order so there is no "receipt" but I brought the slip in the package and showed the email confirmation and order number. They refused to let me return the deformed product I was shipped without a "receipt number" even though again I showed them order number and email confirmation of the online order. They demanded I contact customer service phone number, even though I drove so far away to this store for the return and the customer service number is only open until 2 PM local time and it was past that time. So I had no choice but to leave and call the number the next day. The customer service I called told me there is no such thing as this "receipt number" that the Roseville store kept demanding and that they should have accepted the return by just showing them the order number, exactly as I had done. The people that work here are beyond incompetent and have no idea of their own company policies. I refuse to give them another cent of my money. Incompetent employees like the ones in Roseville are the reason why this is a failing business and store nationwide are shutting down. read more

We went here for our son's first bday and was able to get him a bday bear for only $1. We also just happened to come on the National Day of Play and got a bear for free. Apparently they do this every year and the first 11 guests get a free bear. We just had to pay for the bear accessories. It was a really cute process. We got to step on the pedal to stuff the bear and we put a little heart in the bear and made a wish. We also had the option to include a voice recording, which we opted out of but is a nice option to have. After we picked out our bear accessories we made a little birth certificate for the bear. They have a wide range of different build a bear. We came in for a Bingo. It was pretty pricy but currently there's a 2 for $45 deal for selective bears. I went in yesterday to see if they had the bat build a bear in-store (which they didn't, no big deal), so I decided to order it online at the register for it to be sent to my house. I was being helped by Kathy. She was a little odd. She had created an account for me and ordered two of the bats and she had gone out of her way to tell me that my package would arrive the very next day! I was so excited and told her that I would be back on the weekend to stuff them with my boyfriend. I had been on the lookout all day today for the package and started to worry it got lost or stolen. I tried to use the tracking number but it said my email wasn't registered.. weird? I called build a bear and a man had picked up and told me that there is no way possible it would have come the next day because standard shipping takes TWO WEEKS. Now why would Kathy go out of her way to tell me it would arrive the next day?? This was no mistake on her end because she had even told me that she would see me on the weekend when I come back to get them stuffed. A grown woman spreading false information to a loyal/excited customer is wild to me. The whole deal is up selling which really sucks when trying to have a good experience with a three year old. They have rules that can't be broken like lending scissors to cut off tags after the bear was paid for. They screwed up our coupon and made a huge deal of re ringing the order after we had already done it. Took my son and his cousin to build-a-bear for his birthday this pass weekend. It was both of their first build-a-bear they were very excited. I must say I have never been to build-a-bear that was as crowded as this one and I've been getting bears since I was a child. But it was fun seeing the little ones so excited but it was so crowded some of the experience I remember was lost. They didn't even have the kids to the silly things to get the heart warmed up before stuffing and my sons dog had to be reopened due to the id tag was not place inside and he thought they were killing his dog. They also got rid of the free bows and they sell you the take home box now. But both kids left happy and that's what we went there for. read more

We had the best experience at Build-a-Bear at the Galleria in Roseville. My husband and I would like to give a special shout out to Raul, who stood out amongst his fellow co-workers. He truly made this special experience top notch for our family with his amazing customer service and his incredible interactions and patience with our two 5 year olds. This was our first time at Build-a-Bear so we had a lot of questions which Raul kindly answered as he helped guide us through our journey there. We shared with him the importance of circumstances that brought us in that day and the objective we were going for. Raul, went above and beyond to help us not only reach that goal but he made it special, added suggestions, and took the time with our children to add the magic into the experience. Raul was experienced in product knowledge and not only answered our questions about all the accessories but he made it a point to use his knowledge to ensure our certificates were individualized in a way that helped meet the goal/objective we were aiming for with our visit there that day. I was in the store on May 8th and it only took a couple minutes for me to see 1 particular employee use not only offensive terminology but basically throw a tantrum in the store. I saw her name tag and her name is Stevie while she was on a phone call with I believe a customer she very abruptly and loudly said "God why are customers such RETARDS?" Excuse me when is it ever ok to say things like that about customers in front of children?!? The tantrum part was after the phone call she hung up with them in a huff and proceeded to go to the back stockroom and slammed the door so hard the door made quite a bad noise so I think she broke it. If I were her boss she should have been fired on the spot. I know at least for myself that I personally will not be going into that build a bear again until I know for damn sure she doesn't work there anymore. Worst place to have a birthday party. I called the day before to make sure everything was going to be in place. I had a feeling something was going to go wrong. Now I always have my sons party at Round table pizza but this time he wanted it at build a bear so I figured it would be ok since they started a new program that the first hour would be autistic friendly. Which means the lights and music would be lower than normal. I paid for the Ultimate Experience Package that's $45 per person. I had called the day before to confirm my reservation and good thing I did they said it was not there and kept me on hold for 20 minutes until they found it. She said everything would be good to go. .... But when we got there at 10 am because remember the first hour was supposed to be autistic friendly the guy who opened up which later I found out was the manager. Was not only trying to tell me I didn't have a party reservation, then he said he found it after a while tried to make it seem like I was at the wrong Build a bear, after showing him the email confirmation he tried to say it was at 11:30 am but again it said 10am. The two girls who worked with him got there at 11:30 am, so the whole time we were trying to figure out what came with the package and what the kids wanted. He was no help, he was so rude and unwelcoming. Once the girls got there one of them tried her best to help. What got me upset was when he kept yelling at the kids for not "standing" where he wanted them to after multiple times of me telling him they were all autistic. The parents were trying to help them since they don't like crowds and had them stand to the side but he would not listen and just kept yelling. I paid for the Ultimate Experience Package $45 per person and was promised certain things in the package which we did not get. Instead we get our kids yelled at and scared to go back. I don't know his name it's on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't think of it , I think it's Mark or Paul or something I have a photo of him. Got a couple of gift cards and voice boxes for the kiddos from a family friend for Christmas. Came in on a Friday afternoon thinking we would sneak in without chaos. Wasn't too bad but there were still a good handful of people. You walk in grab any empty stuffy you want. Go stand in line to stuff. And choose heart and smell options. (Additional costs) after stuffing you can create birth certificates and gather clothes for the new stuffy. We recorded dads voice on one and kids voice on another. Son was so excited he got what he wanted and it had his voice. The store was clean, as organized and it could be and the staff that was there was helpful. I took off a star because it seemed they weren't staffed properly for how many people where in there and the stuffy we got shows the hand has a press here for sound (for the voice box) but i guess it didn't fit. box ended up on the side of the stuffy and it keeps getting lost in the stuffing making it hard for the kids to push the button and hear dads voice. Im assuming i will need to take the drive back al the way to Roseville for them to open it up and find it to move to a better location. read more

I love going to this build a Bear, ever since my daughter was born we have done the birthday pay your age bear each year for her here! My daughter has always had a good time building her bears (and other stuffed animals) here and we will keep coming back! The staff has always been great to us, and I finally also came earlier this year to build my own bear without my daughter which is something I wanted to do since I was a child but haven't done for myself until this year, and I love how the staff will still be all excited and still do the heart ceremony for the adults! My most recent visit today was great as well, I came into the store to build my daughter a reindeer cause all she asked Santa for Christmas was a stuffed reindeer. They didn't have the dress I wanted I saw online in stock but the staff went above and beyond to help me pick out everything for her, and even at the last minute one of the girls working also mentioned that there was red bow ties to go around the neck to complete her look with the red bows on her antlers! So over the past 2 years it has become a treat to take my 2 boys, and now after today, I've also been able to take my 2 nieces to Build A Bear Workshop for their birthday! Now, this is not an every birthday thing but for their ages; 4-7, it's has awesome! Each time I let them go hog wild. Pick any bear and all the fun additions they want. My favorite are the sound options such as a heartbeat or a favorite song. You definitely have to get a scent for your new friend like cotton candy or bubblegum. It's such a fun experience for the kids to go through the "building " process and the staff are so sweet to the kids. I don't want to give any spoilers about the cute little way they work with their kids to create the bear but it does make me tear up a bit... One thing I will suggest for the best experience , go mid-day on a non holiday weekday. Every time we do this the store is practically empty. Kids get the run of the store. read more

And if you buy one online they will SEARCH the bear before stuffing it! UPDATE!!! I was kept on hold for 25 minutes while she searched the website, I was still at the mall so I went back in the store and she said it was in their EMPLOYEE POLICIES!!! That's not how this works in the real world! This place was dirty, unkempt and the customer service was horrible to me any my girlfriend. What we were hoping would be a fun date experience turned into an absolute fail. Passed off to different "helpers" that were no help, questions ignored, requests ignored, and the entire staff had some attitude towards us.
