Small quaint. Sort of a whole in the wall diner style but food is delicious, staff is friendly and at a great price

First time there a couple of weeks ago when they were running their Prime Rib Special. The place is adorable, old fashion counter eating, booths and some tables in the middle. The food was delicious, the prime rib was perfectly cooked, side of green beans with almonds and baked potato. The dinner also came with a cup of homemade soup or salad and a scoop of ice cream after, I chose the homemade clam chowder which was amazing. They cook all their meat in house, so you know it is fresh. They are normally not open for dinner besides Thursday's and Friday's. Stopped in this Morning and ordered Eggs over easy, home fries and bacon (I was alone). I have to say everything was delish and served hot and quickly. Eggs were perfect as were the home fries. Bacon was the freshest and crispy as I ever had it. Finished the breakfast with fresh Rye toast and plenty of jellies to choose from. Coffe cup was always filled and tasty as well. So I went here because of all the great reviews. The wife ordered French toast and a side of bacon. What I ordered is not important as you will soon see (though it was OK, nothing to get excited about). The French toast was average and the bacon came out very underdone, to the point that the wife would not eat it. I was actually surprised they plated the bacon as is, cause I like mine less done then most. At this point we were fine with the situation, but the wife wanted the bacon fixed (whether you recook or do a fresh order was not broached as we spoke to the waitress). I will inform you the wife and I tend to be generous tippers and NOT complainers as we realize these people are prepping and cooking our food and work in a tough and often thankless job. And here is where it all went downhill. We spoke to our waitress about the bacon, and trust me we were polite in our request (who likes to be an asshole while having breakfast and starting your day). The waitress, an older woman say in her fifties, struck us as one of the owners (or members of the family business) promptly asked us if we had eaten any of the bacon already in an accusatory tone. Needless to say the wife and I were blown away by this response. We had not even touched the bacon as it was quite distasteful to even look at. Of course we did not say that as it would be rude, but suffice it to say that her attitude at that very moment sealed the fate of this review. I very very rarely ever post a review as I realize people have bad days, restaurants may have staffing issues, or any other imaginable scenario has come to pass prior to my arrival and interaction. I try to be understanding, but on this particular day and this particular scenario we were extraordinarily unimpressed and unsatisfied with our experience. We have never been back and will never go back to this restaurant. We actually left after this encounter after paying our bill. We did not eat the redone bacon nor finish our meal. read more

Great place to stop! The food was great! Highly recommend the red white and blue French toast and the pancakes were phenomenal. My son loved his fries and ham club. Home fries were very flavorful and my other son usually doesn't eat potatoes and ate them all. One of the better diner/cafe type restaurants in the area. Have been here twice and found the food to be well prepared and flavorful. Menu has some of your staple diner meals available as well as some of your not so usual items. I've had the texican omlette and the huevos rancheros. Wife got the southern corn bread with sausage gravy, everything has been delicious. First off, they really need a better exhaust fan. You'll smell like the place all day. Friendly staff. Ordered their breakfast combo (I forget the name). Two eggs (I asked for them over-easy) overcooked and dry with fried ends. Scrapple best described as 3 little crispy scrapple chips (way too thin, and again, overfried). Pancakes that tasted more like vanilla cake, not at all what one would expect. Very good homefries. Toast over-toasted. We've been to Bullards for breakfast and 3 times for dinner. Everything we tried was great. Dinners were spinach salad, chicken marsala and tortellini alfredo. All our meals were delicious. The owner, Gary Bullard, is a very talented chef. The dinner menu keeps expanding. Along with the great food, the prices are unbelievably cheap. $10 for soup or salad, dinner with 2 sides and dessert. Can't beat that price. Also, it's a BYOB, which makes it fun. We, the boyfriend and i, love this place! We are in our 50s and enjoy the local atmosphere that this quaint little restaurant provides. The chef is always on point. My favorite is the California omelet my bf enjoys the all American breakast. The bf says the French Toast is absolutely perfect. There is always consistency in the food. Free Mimosas on Sunday at Brunch!! The owner walks around and is very friendly and sweet. Our waitress was kind enough to put in a "special" order for our son who only wanted an egg, sausage and cheese on an english muffin. It came out well, though the muffin was a bit burned. Daughter had 2 giant chocolate chip pancakes which she liked. Hubs had the special...a cheesesteak omelet, which he said was good. Swiss, mushroom, spinach omelet was good. Have been there twice for breakfast in the last month and will recommend the cinnamon bun French toast with a crispy side order of bacon and an endless cup of decent coffee which comes with breakfast. I also had their pancakes and bacon and even though I am a good eater, I was full and happy after eating half. The young women who was serving was prompt and friendly. Hidden gem in the neighborhood. Went in for the first time today for breakfast and had a delicious meal. Food was fresh, home cooked--husband had the corned beef hash and eggs and I had a breakfast sandwich. We will definitely be back because he loved it so much. I am reviewing Bullard's American Cafe based on it being a "diner" and for the purpose of breakfast food, not a five star fancy restaurant, so keep this mind as I explain WHY I am giving it 5 stars. I recently found Bullard's by sheer luck. yes Luck. I wanted to go to some place different that wasn't Eagle, Perkins, or Ihop..or other local place that's been in existence for longer than I've lived here. I wanted something different. My daughter and I headed off to Bullards for breakfast not knowing what to expect. On the outside, it isn't much. It's not easy to see from the road. The strip of stores it resides in leaves much to be desire on the road side appeal aspect but that didn't matter after we got inside. The decor is AMERICA. It's vintage memories, it's the quintessential American diner just like when we were kids. It's where the local older gentlemen convene with their morning papers and laugh about good times. It's where a family can feel like family and even a stranger feels like they are in the right place. The food is made with heart and it's really good. It's home cooking. It's not packaged, frozen, or over processed. There is absolutely something on the menu for everyone. While there with my daughter, we sat at the counter and was instantly served with a smile by a very pleasant young man who was very attentive, pleasant and prompt. And I had the pleasure to meet Joyce, the owner's wife and she offered me a Mimosa...they're complimentary! She was an extremely pleasant woman, who despite the craziness of the morning rush and her diligent job took the time to engage with us, making us feel welcomed and important, not just another sale. This place is exactly what I want, but don't expect to get when I think of American comfort food. The corned beef hash is made fresh, the cinnamon bun French toast is a great excuse to have dessert for breakfast, the eggs Benedict was really good. You can't see it from the road, and when you do find it, it is just a little hole in the wall in a tired strip mall. But this place is really good and the prices are really low for the amount and quality of food they give you. Totally recommend. I'll be back! read more
