A friend and I came for lunch during college basketball March Madness. We sat at the bar and the restaurant was decently quiet. They have A LOT of beers on tap. We ordered drinks and they were quick to bring them to us. We love coming here for the daily specials. It was a Thursday so it was $2 PBR cans and .99 Wings/Tenders. We got a couple apps to start. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and the crispy brussels spouts. The motz were very good and were perfectly cooked with a long string of cheese after each bit. Our favorite were the Brussels. They were absolutely delicious and a highly ranked appetizer for me. This is the way that Brussels were meant to be cooked. If you grew up like me and had boiled sprouts, you need to experience these bad boys. We ordered wings and tenders. They came out fast and hot. The wings were excellent. They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Cooked perfectly. As a wings enthusiast and a sports fan, these wings are top tier. We got medium buffalo and sweet chili and both were great. The tenders were fine. In the past, I remember them being bigger. We got garlic parm and the spicy pterodactyl. Both weren't great sauces. The parm tasted a lot like blue cheese. (Idk?) They lose their crispiness very quickly. We weren't impressed with the tenders. Overall, the service was great. The bartender kept checking up on us and getting us drink replacements. The food came out fast, and was hot and delicious. I would recommend this spot to my friends. Especially for the apps, wings and specials. Random cons: - during the NFL season, they do not have NFL ticket or Thursday night games on Amazon. -they don't play the sound to most sporting events. I am just not a fan. We have done takeout from here multiple times and it's always terrible. Today I tried the caprese sandwich. It was wet and soggy, I had to take off the bottom bread. It had no taste at all. I expected it to be more like a pressed panini but instead it was big and hard to eat. The monte cristo was not appetizing at all. Things like all you can eat Boneless wings, 89c tenders, half price Pizza, $3 Burgers and Friday Fish fry are all great reasons to come by on any day!! They also have $8 lunch specials that seem pretty good! The Nachos and Waffle Fries are super tasty! They also have some nice crispy tots if you like those. Service has always been solid, even when they are short staffed they still make it go smoothly! Everyone is super friendly! The only thing that they could use some improvements on is the rewards program from "we eat". I guess the program is like any other reward wise but using it is a pain and the website is horrible. I love the Bourbon chicken wings and the mango habanero they were delicious, the only thing that was lacking was the service, I had requested limon for my wings they first forgot my request and then they gave me two small slices in a big kids cup! I had ordered 10 wings for only two limes?? Then my sister had a "grilled"chicken and they brought the chicken breaded so she informed the waitress and the waitress only said - "that's the way they make it" when we explained that the menu specifically says " grilled" the waitress continued to say "that's how they make it" they need to get better with their customer service. read more

Four of us had a business lunch here. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was fine. My coworker and I had burgers and the other two had the house chicken clubs. Those house chicken clubs were very large and looked like a Cobb salad. I got the impression that our associate, who invited us here, has ordered this a few times before. They looked good. We both enjoyed our burgers. Mine was the Baja Burger which was excellent. As requested, It was cooked medium and that particular chipotle Mayo they used was very flavorful. I asked for ketchup and mustard, but then never even used them because that Mayo was just so tasty. We both also had the slaw as our side, which was also good. They have a location in Roselle which is closer to my house. I've been there a couple of times and was not impressed. This Baja burger will probably cause me to revisit them to see if they can match that good experience. I recommend this place. read more

The TVs are large and the dinning area is set off enough so that families enjoying dinner are not disturbed by the bar crowd cheering on their favorite teams. My friend and I ordered the jalapeño Poppers which were SO good! I had the boneless buffalo wings which were decent. My friend Sam ordered a bowl of chili that she said was pretty good too! Our food came out quickly and it came out hot. The staff was phenomenal! I ordered the Grey Goose Martini and the Absolut Mule. Both were good but average (what you would expect but nothing super special) Our bartender, Monica, was GREAT! She was checking in with everyone and always kept herself busy. Whether it was helping to grab extra ranch I asked for or pouring us waters without us having to ask, she was just wonderful! When we arrived she was quick to give us menus and let us know what the specials were. I love going to a bar that really makes you feel welcome even if you aren't a regular. Just moved to the area. Called for a carryout order, as we aren't fully unpacked yet. Was told by the kid on the phone that they are not accepting carryout orders because they were busier than normal and the kitchen is backed up. (8:00pm) Fast forward 20-30 minutes, and my wife was driving past there and noticed that there were hardly any cars in the parking lot, so she went inside. And placed a carryout order. Trouble-free. The place was dead, actually. 5 tables total. Food was ready in 15 minutes. Current live wait time says less than 5 minutes. Tell your carryout kid next time he wants to go home early on a Sunday, not not lie to the customers about carryout being canceled for the night. Food ended up not being so good either. read more

Picked the Flirtini cocktail and the Bulldog Ale House Pale Ale; both enjoyable. Complaint comes from the service. Our server was friendly, but inefficient. We order an appetizer that was never brought out to us. When my food arrived I ordered another beer, however that never came. We saw our server standing at the front counter talking with the other employees. When she finally came back around and apologized for not getting the beer, she lied and said she was had to answer the phones up front. We had a clear view of her the entire time and she was never on the phone, only talking with other employees. So we will be back as the food and drinks were good, but will request a different server if she is set to be our waitress. read more

Totally unfamiliar with the area, stopped in on a Friday night with my sis for a bite. Place was pretty packed and it was nice to look around and feel "pre-pandemic"... Got seated within minutes, waiter immediately greeted us and had our drinks out quickly . I ordered pork tacos, she went with the portobello. Both very good! Neither came with sides which I found odd (no rice and beans??) BUT the waiter did point that out and give us the opportunity to add on a side. Thought I'd give the location a chance again after a long hiatus. Apparently they got worse. The restaurant wasn't very busy on Saturday which was already a red flag since the neighborhood has grown weary of the poorly managed establishment. My wife and I came in to find a lot of empty tables and a hostess that told us we had to wait 5-10 mins. We stood and observed the wait staff look disengaged. Even their uniforms got cheapened. The hostess was busy with tickets which means they were short staffed. Bulldogs had its glory days when they opened and had large discounts to draw in a crowd, but then the ownership just got greedy or failed to keep staff members happy and trained. We walked out and headed to B-Dubs instead and will never come back again, even though it's just a block away from home. Very disappointed. read more

I used to love Bulldogs. It was my go-to spot for fish and chips. Today, it was plenty and hot, which was fantastic but it was also very bland. Was given a very small container of tartar sauce which I almost used up on one piece of fish due to the lack of flavor. But that's not the issue. Today's special was Absolut mixers. What's that? Waitress couldn't tell us. Said maybe Absolut shot you can add with pop. $5. I inquired why the Absolut mixed drinks weren't included to which I was told they can make something similar. This similar was a very watered down red medicine tasting drink. Took a sip. No more and determined I didn't like this drink. We told the waitress who had to get permission to substitute with the manager. She came back and said the drink was suddenly exactly what we ordered (not similar) and therefore couldn't substitute. What? Never in my life have I been forced to drink an inadequately made drink. They dug their heels in and asked if we wanted an additional drink. Nope. We said "we'll suffer through this" and still didn't get a substitute. I guess after noticing we weren't drinking this cough syrup, the manager came over and offered pineapple juice to the even more watered down drink. So we ended up with pineapple flavored diluted cough syrup. We were asked if it was better. To which we said yes just to be done with this very poor experience. We ordered bread pudding to go. We received very warm packages, bagged, that I was excited about because it's hard finding bread pudding. When I opened my container, my bread pudding was dry, sad, wrinkled dessert with sauce on the side that tasted like tapioca. Seeing someone at an adjacent table with bread pudding glistening in the light, I asked if my bread pudding could mirror hers. I was told she had caramel sauce on top which wasn't included in ours to avoid making it soggy. But you put the tapioca tasting sauce on the side, why not the caramel? So I was brought a container of caramel with a side of attitude from the manager, who was from another location, she volunteered. The waitress, I assume was brand spanking new, didn't come to the table unless summoned and took forever to give use our check which had a mysterious surcharge which we questioned. We were told it was Covid related. What? No. She removed the surcharge. Small mention that they weren't busy and food came quickly but also came out with a waiter that wasn't ours who also brought us to-go bread pudding. Waitress was mostly MIA. It pained us to leave a mere 15% tip because we are very good tippers. The fact that we left 15% at all should say that. But it wasn't earned. The experience left me wanting to go home and cook me an adequate lunch. But sometimes you just want to eat out. Please do better. With inflation being what it is, people want to spend their money on an experience they can leave 4-5 stars after. read more

Imagine having a Friendsgiving with a lot of your wonderful coworkers the night before a Sunday Night Football game. Everyone is tired or drunk or exhausted but we all wanted to watch a game and agreed that a small percentage of us will drive to a Bulldog Ale House to watch that game. It has many TVs...cold beer... hot and spicy wings... what more could you want. Plus we usually do this every few months so why not return to this place. Well...we did just that and I am sad to say that our waitress did not feel the same. I feel like she was more tired and/or hungover than we were. She rarely stopped by our table. And if she did... she was quickly to leave. Got one person's order and before she was done writing it...she left before any one else was able to say anything. Then we would need to get another waitstaff to flag her down. And then rinse and repeat. By halftime, this got annoying enough especially since we had 8 people at the table. It wasnt until one of the people at my table got annoyed to make a snarky comment without knowing our waitress was behind her.. .that service improved... by a hair. Yes, the bar looked busy but there was plenty of open tables. It was not even full. But I dont know why she rarely checked in on us and every time she was "forced" to stop by... I could tell she was annoyed. I mean... if you checked on everyone before leaving instead of leaving asap... it probably would have made things easier. Besides that... the food is decent. Beers and drinks are cold. I do like their wings especially with the Pterodactyl sauce (Teriyaki and BBQ) but if you want it spicy..they add some cayenne pepper. 49 cent boneless wings would make it a wonderful place to visit on Sundays (Sunday special). read more

These type of restaurants seem to be the latest thing these days and being a beer lover I'm good with that. First I had reservations of coming to a place that the building had been closed up forever and before that it was some cheap steak place, I just wondered if they did a nice job with the renovation and they did. It's got a nice atmosphere. The place is similar in style and menu as that other new place that just opened on Rt 59 in front of Meijer. Lot's of beer selections, :). They have rotating drafts of 3 Floyds beer! Sports bar atmosphere. Good food choices but mostly sports bar type food. I had the Friday Fish fry and it was fine, they will bring you as much fish as you can eat on Friday's. My son had the creole chicken pasta and the serving was large and he enjoyed the flavor. We sat at the bar as it was crowded for tables on a Friday night. We had 2 servers and both were good, friendly, knew what they were talking about for beer! One negative is the parking, they don't have enough and the surrounding businesses make it clear they don't want you parking in their lot if you're not their customer. They threaten towing. So be careful. Also the Tavern's parking lot is in bad need of pothole patrol. Too many of them for a new place. They need to repave their lot. read more

This is the third Bulldog Ale House location I've been to and I have to say, it's my least favorite. Roselle was the first Bulldog I visited and then Bolingbrook is where I go more regularly. I am super excited however for the Aurora location to open up, because it will only be a couple minutes from my house! My biggest issue with this restaurant is that it's just way too loud. I mean, I know it's a sports bar but you can't even converse with the people at your table. I think it's so loud because the restaurant is just one big open space, whereas in Bolingbrook and Roselle its broken up a bit with a separate bar area. The other downside to this location is that they have about half the amount of beers on draft that the other locations I've been to have (although there's still plenty of beer to choose from). All that being said, Bulldog Ale House is a great place to grab some food, a few drinks, or watch a game. Last time I was here I had their prosciutto pear pizza and it was delicious. It's an alright chill spot to catch a game and have supper. I've been here several times now and been to the other Bulldog locations as well. I'm glad to hear there is one nearby. However the parking lot is small. Love that they offer different daily specials, but know ahead the specials are set and even on burger day it's just beef and limited toppings and you'll pay more for it. The brews are tasty. I've ordered from here three times, twice through DoorDash and once through pickup. I have no words on how presentable and delicious each dish has arrived to my home. Last night I ordered the White Truffle Pizza. Not your typical pizza. Comes with brussel sprouts, corn, potatoes, and truffle all over a white cheese (?) sauce. I've given this establishment many chances to improve, but unfortunately they have not. If you enjoy cheap ingredients in your food and poor service this is the place for you. Boneless wings are absolutely too small, the traditional also equally small and not as authentic quality wings as other bars. The burgers may appear huge but the bread easily breaks apart as if it were stale and makes dining experience messy.the waiters/waitresses/servers aren't attentive and you have to flag them down for something as simple as more napkins. You can ask for extra ketchup and they'll serve you three barely filled mini custard cups of ketchup. Just fill it up completely! That's just the food service. I recently turned 21 and they did not accept my vertical Identification card even though it wasn't expired and literally every bar everywhere accepted mine and the DMV isn't renewing non-expired IDs until after July 31st. The red head bartender didn't accept it, but at least checked with her manager (hence the 1 star I gave them), but the manager also refused to serve me and my buddies with valid unexpired Identification cards, claiming that the DMV had been open for too long to not have the 21+ styled ID. I felt disappointed and upset as I currently serve this nation's great Navy that I couldn't even enjoy a drink at my home town local ale house. Luckily, Oak St. Restaurant | Bar accepts vertical ID cards and give better service and food than Bulldogs. Still disappointed with Bull Dogs Ale House and their service. I hope they improve their service next time I return home. So, to reiterate and emphasize, if you like cheap food and poor service, Bull Dogs Ale house is the place for you! Great place to have Lunch or Dinner. Place is kind of small but very comfortable. Well decorated and clean. Took one of my employees for lunch. We were greeted right away and seated right away. I'm still sitting here at the restaurant writing this review as it's so bad I couldn't wait. Can I give this zero stars? Got here about 6:45 pm on a Sunday. Seated immediately then watched every server in the place walk by our table a half a dozen times. Finally after 25 minutes of sitting (my son begged me not to go ask for a server), a server did come to take our order. I ordered the chicken sandwich with "slaw". This should have been good or at least ok, but it came with a pile of kale drenched in vinegar. The slaw also tasted like honey mustard. It was horrid. It soaked the bun so much the bun only tasted of vinegar. It was inedible. I scraped it off but the bun was a loss. My husbands burger had an over easy egg. I came in with a larger group, so I can't comment on the staff as I didn't interact with anyone much. The one thing I can say is the service was quick enough considering our group's size. What I really liked about the place was the happy hour specials (pretty much everything was $2 for Wednesdays), and they had a pretty decent beer selection! It seems like it's rotated often to reflect the season, which I appreciate. Good atmosphere, clean and chill. I'll definitely come again for the specials. Although I've had some not so great feedback about another of their locations' treatment of clintele, hopefully that's not a larger issue at their other locations. read more

The place was just alright. We live nearby and it's always packed so we decided to give it a go. The environment: Yes, it's very loud. It's the style of a typical sports bar, crowded, loud, lots of TVs, etc. Kind of difficult to have a conversation, seems like a better place to meet for drinks than for dinner. The service: sllloooowwww. I genuinely felt bad for the bartender, she was so busy, people constantly grabbing her attention, she never had a minute to stop. But because of it, many of the bar customers weren't getting the attention we were all waiting for. Another girl and 2 guys were in and out of the bar area trying to help but it seemed unorganized and not like a team-effort. The food: just okay. We each had bacon burgers. They were neither juicy nor flavorful. They were extremely messy. We both ordered them "medium" and one was overcooked. Had parmesan garlic wings to start -- flavor was good, wings were soft not crispy (people have different preferences, I prefer crispy). FYI: They have coupons online. Good ones! We printed them and were intending to use them but it took sooooooo long to get our check we completely forgot to use them because we were so focused on tracking down someone, anyone, to get our check and help us pay so we could leave. I liked almost everything about my inaugural visit to the newest Bulldog Ale House in North Aurora. Jocelyn and the rest of the wait staff were very friendly, fast and accommodating. For beer lovers, the selection is huge, so you definitely won't go thirsty. I tried the Bulldog Sunset Wheat. It was fruity and light. A 32 oz. mug was only $4.00! My only gripe is that it could have been served a little colder. We started with the soft pretzel and queso appetizer. The pretzels were a warm salty delight and the queso was spicy, but not too spicy for kids. Three of us had burgers and one had the Reuben. We were all pleased with our choices. All burgers were served on a pretzel bun, which was a perfect complement to the juicy, meaty burgers. I ordered mine medium well, but I think I'll go medium next time, since mine seemed slightly over cooked. My Ale House burger was supposed to include onion straws, but I was served raw onions instead. No complaints here, as I love raw onions. My only other criticism is that the A/C needed to be cranked up. The temps outside were around 80 and it was just slightly cooler in the restaurant. We will most definitely be back. This was a solidly average experience. Ordered the appetizer platter. It was average. Essentially frozen items that had been cooked. Daughter commented that the mozzarella sticks were "typical". Pretzels were like the ones you can buy in the frozen food section of any large grocer - although cheese sauce was good. Husband said wings were good. All in all - typical bar food. Husband ordered the burger and commented it had a nice grilled flavor. Good that it was a Saturday special . When we asked about fries, we were informed they were frozen so ordered the homemade coleslaw instead - which was ok. Daughters fried mac and cheese was clearly another item that was frozen and then cooked there. My caprese flatbread was ok - edges were crisp and inside was softer. It was ok. Bulldog wheat beer was good - had a citrus undertone and 5$ chocolate martini was enjoyable. Finished the night with baked chocolate chip cookie which was sweet - as dessert should be. All in all - it's typical bar food. Not a gastro pub but edible ( as long as you enjoy items purchased frozen). Decor is nice . Place is clean. Server was attentive and nice. It is noisy. Good place to watch a game with a large group. Not a place for upscale pub fare. It's a solidly average "joint" and every town needs one of those. read more
