We enjoyed our time tonight at Bullfeathers! Our server, Matthew, was helpful in welcoming us and discussing our menu questions. I ordered two appetizers, spinach and artichoke dip, and a delicious crab cake. My friend also enjoyed a crab cake and had the salmon sandwich with mashed potatoes. The food was tasty and the service, fast and friendly. I was happy that there was hard cider on tap, and he, being alcohol free, a enjoyed ginger beer. Our server, Matthew, was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the cooler weather today, on the porch, under large umbrellas. Bullfeathers is a great hangout for young Capitol Hill professionals, yet we two silver-haired hippie protesters, felt comfortable there as well. read more

Close to the Capital Building and steps away from the metro station. Arrived around 5 ish for dinner. The bar area was hopping but the dining room had plenty of tables. Seated quickly and our waitress took our order. I ordered Cobb salad with grilled chicken. The chicken did not have any flavor. The salad was fresh and the blue cheese dressing was chunky. My husband ordered the chicken parm sandwich which was very flavorful and the fries were tasty and cooked to perfection. The dining area needed some sprucing up. A solid 2.5. This is a convenient location for a work lunch. I had the thunderbird (turkey, gouda, bacon, and pepperoni relish with chipotle mayo). It was a good, filling sandwich, although $18 is crazy work for what you get. They subbed fries for fingerling potatoes, but sadly they were hard, badly charred, and borderline inedible. The waitress was overwhelmed (she was the only one waiting on 20+ people) and I couldn't bring it up because we never saw her, which also meant no water refills, etc. Service in general was very slow due to being understaffed - I felt bad for her. All in all, it's solid enough food in an area with few options, just pricy for the quality. I think if I'd stuck with fries instead of venturing into roasted potatoes I would have been happy overall! read more

Over the years, I've probably been here dozens of times as it was nearby where we used to live. Also a quick walk to the House side of the Hill, it's popular with young government professionals for after work drinks. On the after we stopped in, it was filled and just got louder the longer we stayed. They have a lot of outdoor seating along the sidewalk, which is great for warmer weather, or under heaters if it's cold. Inside along the left is a big wooden bar with stools, and high top tables. To the right is the dining room with tables of various sizes for a more sit down experience. You can also order from the bar if you want appetizers to go with your drinks. The bartenders were super fast and attentive, being busy is clearly the norm here. I remember their food being okay, maybe good in a pinch. The bar has all manner of hard drinks and a respectable beer list. Glassware was clean and cold as well, prices reasonable with drink specials available as well. If you're exploring the Hill and in need a respite, this is a fun local place for some drinks and food. read more

Take-out order of mac n' cheese was decent and included a very tasty and moist piece of cornbread. Mac n' cheese rating on a scale of 1-10 is a 7 for interesting use of Penne pasta instead of macaroni and decent taste, although not worth a special trip. The corn bread, which I usually don't like because it's way too dry and sweet, was actually the best cornbread I have ever had, on a scale of 1-10 it's definitely 10. read more

Beautiful day for an outdoor seat, but the sun was sharp and the umbrella's we were told by the server would fall as the base was useless, and were instructed not to put it up. The neighbor restaurant had their umbrellas up. Management please go to Walmart and pick up some solid bases to resolve this inconvenience. I had the crab cake burger for $21 + taxes + tips and it was disappointing - Small bun / portion, dry and basic, nothing special to rant about. The fries were good. read more

Bullfeathers is so hit or miss that if another grill restaurant opened on the House side of the Capitol I'd probably never go to Bullfeathers again. The hamburger is great, the fries are good, nothing is wrong with the food. The service is bad, however, and painfully lazy. Servers never seem to write things down, instead acting posh like they can remember it all. Thus it was no surprise that all three of our meals had problems and had to be sent back. In general, we were mostly ignored even though the place was mostly empty. The final bit that just really annoyed everyone was that they don't split checks, BUT if you split the check equally they will run three separate checks. It makes absolutely no sense other than just laziness, and the fact they never write down anything. At least Tortilla Coast got your order right. read more

This place is amazing! My sisters and I came together and sat at the bar. The bartenders were so kind and also super funny. The place was packed as it was Inauguration day. We got breakfast and lunch. My sisters both got the breakfast sandwich and I got the biscuits and gravy. A while later we got buffalo chicken wings. I would've ordered everything on the menu. The drinks were so good! I couldn't taste the alcohol, but it was definitely in there ha! Bullfeathers is a bright fun place and a short walk from the Capitol South Metro. read more

After checking out the Botanical gardens (and a long day of travel), we decided it was time to get lunch. Looking up different places near us (on Yelp ) and Bullfeathers fit the bill. Lots of outdoor seating and plenty of room inside too! We always like seeing what others have ordered so while walking to our table, we saw lots of salads. The strawberry feta salad was so delicious! The honey-basil vinaigrette was perfectly paired with the arugula and strawberries. My sister got the black n blue salad which she enjoyed quite a bit. Not sure if it was the timing or wrong day but between the hoity toity political people and the girl sitting next to me at the bar but I ended up grabbing one drink and leaving. The girl sitting next to me was huffing & puffing, breathing loudly for several minutes till i turned my head and said are you OK? I am sitting RIGHT next to you and you're huffing in my ear lol wtf. She proceeded to just drink her drink lol. Im from stoner laid back CA where i socialize with strangers 24/7. Not here. A kind of snobby environment, interesting to people watch for sure. Very busy venue on Capitol Hill. Fast paced, high turn over, loud conversations, all indications of making things happen here. Food was okay, atmosphere was noisy; it was hard to carry on a conversation. Prices were reasonable. We ordered: 3*Steak N Cheese with peppers, onions, and American cheese. Food was decent, nothing fancy. 3*Salmon BLT served on a bun, with dill, mayo. Per normal. 3*BLT: bread was toasted, and pretty good. All dishes included fries, but we asked for salad instead. Bull Feathers gladly replaced without extra charge. There were two choices for salad: Caesar or garden. Both salads were nice, clean and healthy. read more

Bullfeathers (Bully's) is a staple on Capitol Hill, and I'm glad it's there. My first trip to Bully's was several decades ago, and I mostly thought of it as a Happy Hour spot. Later, I learned that they were open on Saturdays for brunch...so it became my Saturday morning retreat. (Those are my favorite memories.) Based on my commute, Bully's has once again become part of my routine. While it's definitely an enjoyable place to go after work, I've learned that their food is quite good: *Burgers are solid *Salads are terrific (my fave is the Black and Bleu) *Pizzas are good One of the surprises about Bully's is their great staff. Their customer service is great, and you can tell that the employees enjoy working there (and each other). Oh - and if the weather is nice - they have a great patio. Street parking is hit-or-miss...but it's literally across the street from the Capitol South Metro station, so - honestly - there's no reason to drive there. read more

Had wonderful service at Bullfeathers on the Hill. We were seated really quickly, brought our entrees without a long wait, and the quality was great for how much we paid for our meal. Went to this restaurant with a friend. The atmosphere was really nice, and so was the service. I ordered the Cheesesteak sub with French fries. The cheesesteak sub was really good, even though it was on the small side. I asked them to add lettuce and tomatoes on it, and all I received was a thin, small single piece of mostly white lettuce and once slice of tomato. The lettuce was so small that I mistakenly thought they had forgotten to put it in my sub. When you charge almost $15 for a cheesesteak sub and French fries, and the customer asks for lettuce and tomatoes, don't be so darn stingy on the veggies. They give you more lettuce and tomatoes on a Subway sub foot long sub for less money. You may only have one opportunity to impress a customer and get them to return to your restaurant, don't assure that they will never return because you're trying to save 15 cents on produce. Friendly service. Pros: Ham is great. Stewed beef is great also. Mashed potato is great had green onions. Cons: Potato salad or pottage with cabbage is weird - a bit sweet and savory but I'm not sure if I liked the spice mix that is used. I think this needs to be reworked. read more

The food was good (I had tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches and my girlfriend had salmon, broccoli, and mashed potatoes) and the price was good. The bar area was full, especially for a Tuesday evening. Several servers waited on us so ordering was a little goofy but they all tried hard. The primary waitress for us barely spoke English but she was pleasant. Once the health inspectors see that things are corrected, we'll return. read more
