Came in to try this place for lunch on a Wednesday. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't crowded at all, which was great for us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have one hour street parking right in front, which was easy to find. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have indoor and outdoor seating (cute patio) that is dog friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It definitely has a very western feel with the decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have photos of all the food on a big wall. Service: Server was so welcoming and checked on us plenty of times to make sure we had everything we needed. Food was cooked to order, but came out quickly. Food: They use a dry rub on all their meats. The pork ribs fell off the bone and were tender and flavorful. My friend said her pulled pork sandwich was lacking seasoning / a punch. I think it was better for her when she added bbq sauce. The cornbread was great. The side Ceasar salad was a good size and a basic salad with dressing on the side.

Came by Bull's Smokin' BBQ with my friend a couple weeks back. It had been years since I'd been there. The service was good. It's an order-at-the-counter spot, which is typical of BBQ and something of a relief from hyper-services restaurants. We ordered a pulled pork and a BBQ chicken sandwich. Both were solid, though the pulled pork was a little better in my opinion. Good cook on both meats, though. The sauces are pretty solid here as well--they have 3 different types to choose from. My friend went back to order a beef rib and it was one of the better that I've had in Southern California. Very tender, fall-off-the-bone, with a good crust and smokiness. Kind of heavy, but worth it if you're in the mood. All that said, this isn't the best BBQ I've ever had, but it's in the 4-star range for California BBQ Forsure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The spot is relaxing, central, no-frills, and filling. It's worth checking out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The service was amazing with Julia. We had a larger group and she was patient with our questions and she ensured we had everything we needed and that our meals turned out well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I must state that there was a group of 7 of us and on arrival we were not blown away having left the downtown/gaslamp area. Not the typical restaurant... you order at the counter and then await the foods arrival at the table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However, after staying and trying the food it turned out well. We tried a variety of dishes from the chicken sandwich to the salmon salad to the beef brisket and all were delicious. I can say we were not a fan of the 3 BBQ sauces - original, sweet, and spicy were not as flavored as hoped. The Bull's fries aren't spicy, I like my fries crispy. All in all we were pleased with our dinner. I would recommend when in the area if you're feeling like BBQ.

Barbecue beef ribs, three bones, but they actually here before

I arrived around 12 PM to a restaurant where a gentleman at the counter greeted me in a friendly and outgoing manner. He assisted with the menu when I had questions, although I already knew what I wanted. I ordered three ribs, beef ribs, and requested a side of cornbread with spicy barbecue sauce. According to the photo, the restaurant actually provides four ribs. The ribs were satisfactory, but when combined with the spicy barbecue sauce, the flavor was elevated to a new level. I recommend choosing the spicy barbecue sauce with the beef ribs. The cornbread was average; I am not particularly a fan of corn in my cornbread. I will certainly return, although parking in that area can be little extra challenging.

To start, we were specifically going to San Diego to eat here, but we kind of had an idea that we would eat some sort of BBQ while on our short trip. I can only start by saying the hospitality was great, and maybe next time I'll try one of their floats. [[HIGHLIGHT]]In the mean time, the setting was comfortable eating outside, in a rustic patio feeling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was good and the sauces were flavorful. I really enjoyed the spicy sauce. The meat was tender and the bread was good too. I enjoyed the hush puppies and the Mac n cheese was something of a comfort food with the cheez-it topping. This gave some texture and added flavor. I would definitely go back and try it again.

Side Caesar and Side of Fries

I went for a small side Caesar Salad and a side of Fries, and each were $5.99. The portions are good, for that price but the quality was definitely lacking in the salad as the lettuce was starting to brown. The fries have great seasoning, I recommend those. I also got a Stone Delicious IPA. No prices posted, which is always a bit frustrating, and the beer was served in a plastic cup, which is just wasteful. The service was also not sub-par, the person working seemed almost put off that I was there. In all, it was a lackluster stop. I very likely wouldn't return.

We came to check this place out on the recommendation of a family member. It turned out to be pretty good. We ordered some different things and pretty much liked it all. They bring out the BBQ sauce for you to put on your food. They have three choices: Original, Sweet, and Spicy. I liked the spicy the best! * 4.0 / 5.0: Bull's Duo (choose two half sandwiches): Smoked Pulled Pork and Smoked Beef Brisket. * 4.2 / 5.0: Bull's Duo (choose two half sandwiches): Andouille Sausage and BBQ Chicken. -Of all the half sandwiches ordered, I liked the Andouille Sausage best. * 4.0 / 5.0: Pulled Pork Fries * 4.0 / 5.0: Corn Bread -Good, but $1.99 each is pricey! * 4.0 / 5.0: Bull's Beans * 3.2 / 5.0: Corn -Good, but I overdosed on butter. It dominated the taste. Almost felt like butter with corn vs corn with butter. * 3.5 / 5.0: Smoked Lamb Shank -A little better than okay. Others in my party liked it and rated it as good. The decor for this place was perfect. I thought it matched the theme of BBQ. When we first walked up through the doors we got a western saloon vibe. The parking here isn't the greatest. Luckily , we found some street parking. The parking can be scarce in this area. Our server was very nice. He brought out everything including utensils, sauce, etc. He even helped move a chair to our table for our party of five. Service was pretty good. Overall, we like the place. They have seating inside and outside. They have a good selection of adult beverages. Looks like a nice place to hang out and have a drink, especially outside! We are fans and will return. 4.0 / 5: Food 4.0 / 5: Service 4.0 / 5: Cleanliness 4.0 / 5: Overall

    Smoked Salmon Caesar Salad

A coworker and I checked out Bull's during a lunch hour on a weekday. We really were not very interested in barbecue, but wanted to try a different restaurant near the office. Aside from barbecue, we noted some other options on the menu prior to our visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once we entered, we were struck by the atmosphere, which had a bit of a Wild West theme. We noted the swinging wood doors we entered through[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Just past those doors, we saw a wall with photos of each menu item which was helpful in solidifying our decisions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were quickly greeted by the woman behind the counter. She was super friendly. She answered questions about the menu. I had my own Diet Coke with me, as I had been sipping it already at work. She nicely offered me a cup with ice. Also when my friend chose water to go with her lunch, she was provided a cup of ice with lemon. I chose the smoked salmon caesar salad and my friend chose the chicken caesar salad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While we waited for our meals, we sat out on the patio. It was super cute with a huge Wild West mural on the back wall. It was definitely dog friendly, as I saw a stack of dog bowls on a counter with pitchers of water[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Our salads were bought to us quickly and they were huge. I wasn't super thrilled with the greens, but the salmon was a generous portion that was served over the greens, and the seasoning was delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I enjoyed the seating, salmon, and the friendly service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I felt that the meal was a decent value for the price. I may have to go back and try a few other dishes.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Delicious BBQ food in a casual setting that boasts a large outdoor patio perfect for mingling.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Customer service is friendly, food comes out promptly, and they have multiple BBQ sauces for you to enjoy with your food. I have been here a few times and each time have enjoyed my food and experience here. I highly recommend the brisket - so good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you have a large group that wants to chat and enjoy a good meal or drinks, this is a great chill spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My husband and I are moving things into our storage unit today nearby and he recommended us to go to this BBQ place for lunch. It definitely felt like a hole in the wall it wouldn't be something that necessarily catches your attention when driving by. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is a very cute old school style Saloon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We both ordered the pull pork sandwich, a side of fries, onion rings, and my husband also ordered beef rib on the bone. These bones were huge and the meat just fell off! Everything tasted amazing! I really like that they do not add barbecue sauce on two the sandwiches instead offer it on the side so you can decide the spice level and how much sauce you actually want. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also it's s also dog friendly! They will even offer a bone for your dog.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is indoor and outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Limited street parking but was easy to find on the Sunday afternoon. Overall, really cute spot and highly recommend if you were craving BBQ in the area!

Came here while in town did the 1/2 &1/2 sandwich combo. Did brisket and pulled pork with hush puppies and Mac & cheese. Food was amazing, service and staff super great. Friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the ambiance and all[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Very great food.

    Cockroach
    Hooman H.

Ate here once about 3 years ago with no issues. This time (4/27/26), I saw a large cockroach walking freely in the dining area and under my table while I was eating--I have video. The manager said it's because they operate with the doors open and claimed that since it was a big one, not a small one, it doesn't relate to cleanliness. That response was concerning and not acceptable for a restaurant. I spent $56.54 dining alone and had to ask the same manager for a box to take my lamb shank because I was too queasy to continue eating. On my way out, he pointed to their A rating from the health department posted behind the bar, which was no consolation. Health Department should take notice.
