We went there for breakfast yesterday and were greeted by friendly staff. The cafe is so cute and sells local artisan gifts. We started with the Everything Bagel scone! Must try. It was the best scone I've ever had. We got a bacon, egg & cheese on homemade biscuit and the waffles with scrapple! Finished with a huge cinnamon bun. Excellent! My good Friend Robert Bonner has opened a very nice restaurant in Prince Frederick MD. Opening a restaurant during Covid-19 takes a tremendous amount of courage to say the least!! While I was enjoying my Belgian waffle with warm marinated berries & maple syrup as well as a side of scrapple, Bobby brought out warm Pecan-Caramel scones and blue berry muffins. Let's just say my wife and daughters did not leave any for me to sample. I'm looking forward to lunch in the near future!! We've been to Bulrushes for dinner (St Patrick's Day) and for breakfast one weekend. What's funny is, the very first time we went, we didn't quite understand what to do / how the place worked and ended up leaving. Be assured that it's ok to go in and check it out. What we do now is grab a table to claim it and then go up to order. The menu is on the counter where you order so you don't have to memorize the board out front although it's a good idea to have a good idea of what you want before getting up to the counter - the place gets BUSY! The food has been good both times and we'll definitely be back for more of their over-the-top food! Always super nice staff and quick service. read more

As a first time visit, I am very disappointed. I walked in for a pick-up order and got the sausage gravy and biscuits, but walked out with this chicken monstrosity. I probably would have been fine with this unexplainable mistake and would have brought it back for correction. However, after being told it would take 15-20 minutes for a simple order, it turned into a 40 minute wait with my dog in the car. Additionally, the front-of-house service was extremely poor with little to no assistance as I came back to check on my order. The restaurant was not busy at the time, so the low level of service I received was absurd. On the upside, the inside of the restaurant was designed very well and modish. read more

I heard a lot about this restaurant from friends who really liked it. It's a small but cute place. We sat for awhile before learning you had to place your order at the counter. Pancakes are not a normal menu item which is odd because they are a breakfast place. I'm sure kids are disappointed when they can't order them. I was happy to see they had scrapple which I don't find often outside of Pennsylvania. My meal of eggs, scrapple and a biscuit was solid. My husband ordered sausage and gravy which they were out of, but enjoyed the chipped beef even though it was a small portion. The service was ok. We weren't asked if we wanted more coffee, but we did receive our meals in a timely fashion. I'll definitely try this place again. Hoping they expand their menu and add pancakes to their regular menu. read more

I wanted to like this place but I just didn't. The menu seemed lack luster. The staff while friendly weren't exactly helpful. You had to stand at the counter to wait to order. They were out of cinnamon buns and they alternate having pancakes and French toast every other day... though that's not written anywhere. read more

Food was decent. The service staff were mute. The only one who talked was the owner once he came out from the back. We wanted an egg platter and biscuits and gravy. They didn't ask us if we wanted drinks so we had to go back. At 1030 they were out of biscuits. Instead of saying we're out of biscuits when my husband ordered biscuits and gravy they added gravy as a side to my eggs. I ended up splitting my eggs and toast with my husband and he had the gravy side. We ordered a cinnamon roll which was good but not fresh and wasn't warmed up well as the bottom was kind of burnt in flavor. The outside was super hard, like it was microwaved. My fiance and I had lunch. I had a Fried Green Tomato BLT w/hand fried potato chips. I had half and half lemonade/tea. My fiance had a chicken salad sandwich w/potato salad. She had lemonade. Excellent brunch here today. My moody teenage said he didn't want to go and wasn't hungry. He ordered the waffle, 2 eggs and sausage and almost all of it was gone. He said it was the best waffle he's ever had which is saying something given that he has actually eaten waffles in Belgium. Coffee was great as was the atmosphere. The food is outstanding, i waited till our third time there to review just to see if it was a fluke it's so good! Seriously breakfast for my family is a big deal and it's always great here! I think we have had everything on the menu and it's all great. The staff is really genuinely nice, they care about your meal, You, and they are very personable! We've had breakfast here several times and have never been dissatisfied. Food has always been hot and plentiful with service being very satisfactory. They like everywhere else are short handed but still give quick courteous service. You may have to look close to find it because it has a simple storefront like the other buildings and inside is small and can get loud but the food is worth it. read more

WOW! What a great experience! The Team was polite, professional and ready to share a smile. The cinnamon roll we had was to die for fantastic.
