Yummy dim sum. No cart service here. You get a picture menu and you write down your order on a paper and give it to them. They bring out the food as it's ready. The space is decently sized but not huge so expect a wait on the weekend. On a Saturday at 11 we were quoted a 30 minute wait for 7 people but only ended up waiting maybe 15 or so. Highlights: - beef chow fun (dry) - great wok hei flavor and they didn't skimp on meat. - pan fried turnip cake - crispy on all sides vs. just top and bottom that you usually see. Cut thicker too so you get more of the soft inside. - beancurd sheet roll with pork and shrimp - tender and flavorful. The sauce they have on the outside is delish and the beancurd texture was nice. - taro puff with pork - light and crispy on the outside. The taro itself was soft and custardy. It didn't eat heavy even though it's deep fried. Just ok: - steamed rice roll with shrimp - sauce was just ok and the rice roll was a little thick. - Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce - the sauce was very thin. I'm used to a thicker more flavorful sauce that holds to the broccoli better. But the broccoli was cooked well. Service really left a lot to be desired. We constantly had to flag people down and they really made it feel like we were bothering them. They missed an item on our order and it took a while for them to correct it. It's quite a spacious restaurant with lots of seating. We came here for dimsum twice during our trip to Boston and I think the quality/taste varies dramatically. The first time, the food was not it for me. Of course, this all depends on your palette but everything was VERY salty to me - to the point where I could not eat anything. I'd take a bite to try and then I'd have to give the rest to my partner. I've never been so hungry at a dimsum place! My stomach was growling even though we had so much food on the table. :( The second time, the food was decent - as in not on the salty side. Solid spot for dim sum in Malden! We can for an early lunch right after New Years and good thing we came early as the restaurant became packed soon after. Got a large variety of dim sum items and it all came out pretty quickly. My favorites were the chicken feet, tripe, shrimp and chive dumplings and salty egg yolk charcoal lava bun! The steamed tripe was super flavorful in a ginger onion sauce and all the shrimp items were really great with plenty of filling. We got both the regular steamed salty egg yolk lava buns and the charcoal one and I have to say, you gotta get the charcoal buns as the filling is way more flavorful and has that runny, ooey gooey texture I love! Parking can be tricky in downtown Malden but there is a parking lot in the back or metered street parking if you can find a space. read more

There were many empty tables but servers were just walking around instead of cleaning the tables. The reason why we stayed as we already came from another nearby dim sum place that was packed with people. Finally we got a table but took forever to serve us tea, and they claimed many of the dim sums were sold out. We should have left! read more

It's our first time at this location. It's in a busy street so parking can be annoying. We were lucky to find one close to the restaurant. When we walked inside it was bright, clean, and very spacious. Our waiter was nice but it was hard to understand him. The service was fast pace and our food arrived pretty fast. I came here once with a few friends and we were able to get seating right away. it was a Sunday AM, so I was surprised we didn't have to wait long to get in! I've been to a lot of dim sum places before so my benchmark is quite high. I thought the food was just okay in my opinion. Each dish was too salty for me and nothing wowed me. We ordered these dessert jellies which the menu called them "dessert rabbits" and had the expectation the jellies would be shaped like a bunny since that's what the photo showed and the name of the item menu said, they brought it out cubed. I felt slightly deceived by that. The food came out pretty fast though and the service was fine! If you come during lunch hours on the weekend, be prepared to wait and share a table with strangers. Our group of five was quoted a 25-30 minute wait but our number was called before then. We ended up in a private room off to the side but never felt neglected - our waiter came by to take our orders and check in on us. Favorites: the shrimp dumplings (nice fat shrimp filling), the fried tofu with shrimp paste. Not so favorite: the spare ribs (very oily and too much cartilage/bone, making it tough to chew. My jaw got a good workout from one of these). Things I miss having at dim sum: - Grouchy old ladies pushing carts around and shouting whatever they have at you. - The little plates of mustard and chili oil they pass out at the beginning. This Ming's is the sister restaurant of the one in Quincy and they even have the same menu. There is meter parking or you can park at the parking lot across the street. On my most recent visit, I came here for takeout dim sum the other day. I ordered their Hao Gaw, Shui Mai, and Beef Meatballs which were all good and came with a good portion. The only downside was I was quoted 15 minutes, but the food took over 30 minutes to be ready for pickup and I only ordered 3 items. The ambiance inside is more of a moderm dim sum restaurant, it's not run down like some other places. Overall, this is my go to spot for dim sum when I'm in Malden. read more

As I was posting some photos from dim sum today, I noticed I didn't post a review for over seven years here. Good news the food is still fabulous. I believe this is one of the most popular places for Sunday dim sum. Just an FYI, they do serve dim sum every day. They transferred over to ordering from a photographic menu rather than the standard pushcart and choosing as you go. I'm still up in the air. which way I prefer I really like when the carts come around and they open up a steamer, you can smell the different aromas from all the different foods and you can decide on the spot what you want rather than choosing off the menu which is a little bit more fun. Anyway, I was there with my daughter and her boyfriend so just three of us. I think I went a little overboard. I ordered 13 orders for three people. I'm telling you the management must've loved us, anyways everything was fantastic. A couple little highlights I would like to point out, the chicken feet are the best in the greater Boston area and I would definitely suggest that you try. I'm also partial to the stuffed eggplant and the congee of course I go with the pork and the preserved egg. One of the top vegetables I would suggest the shoots, the Peapod shoots. I like mine with oyster sauce ask for extra, you will need it. This is a little bit different than the average dim sum spot around town. This is a function hall. It's extremely fancy. Today there was an Asian wedding going on and the bride and groom were dressed in ancestral wedding outfits. It was a lot of fun. The staff seem to handle the wedding as well as all the other outsiders who just came for dim sum. Everything went smoothly for the two hours I was in the restaurant. I would like to mention the young woman at the front desk, calling out the numbers and taking your name for tables seemed to get a little bit confused because for about 20 minutes, she kept telling me I was fourth and they called a few other tables then I just happened to peek over her shoulder and I saw her scratching out my number and someone else went into that seat so of course I had to question her. She gave me a new number and told me oh oh your next. I went with the flow and about five minutes later I did get a table but that equaled out to a one hour wait. I did see some people arrive much later than I and sat before me, so I will be questioning that. Thats why the review is four stars rather than five, other than that the food is top-notch. The service is top-notch and it's a very pleasant place to dine. I would highly advise trying this place out. If you haven't been it's worth checking it out you'll be pleased. Always a solid spot for dimsum in the Malden area - definitely somewhere I'd recommend! Came here for brunch on a Sunday morning and we were here right at opening so of course we didn't have an issue finding a seat. It felt like your typical dimsum spot with the white tablecloths and bustling environment. They have a good variety of dimsum dishes and the portions felt relatively fair - we left very full and had a great time. I thought Ming's at the Malden location was pretty good. We came in on a weekday for a late lunch with also a large party. The restaurant can accommodate many large parties. I thought the food was pretty solid--we ordered a mix of dim sum items and traditional Chinese plates. Some notable pics I've took to share was the lobster which tasted fresh and the sauce was great. The server did bring out the live lobsters to share with us of what they were offering. As for the some of the dim sum items we had, no complaints there. Had a friend that use to live around the Malden area and he said this was one of his favorite dim sum places around the Boston area. Service was actually pretty nice--the server wasn't too stressed and staff was attentive on our party if we needed anything. What's truly a bust at this location though is parking.... This is very similar if not the exact same as the one they have in Quincy. It's very spacious and the staff are as dim sum staff are. The food here is again one of the best dim sum places in Boston. Much better than Hei La Moon. No complaints about any of the dim sum I've had. I do think the Siu Mai here is one of the biggest I've seen. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who likes dim sum and is looking to satisfy a craving. read more

This is a pretty solid spot to get dim sum especially if you don't want to venture into Boston Chinatown! The restaurant is massive with ample seating. I like how their dim sum isn't greasy, although it was pricier than how much I'd pay for a similar amount of food at Chinatown spots (around $40/person). I came here on a weekend in a group of 3 and was seated immediately. Like others have mentioned, the dim sum menu doesn't show any prices so we just ordered whatever we were feeling and hoped it wouldn't cost an arm and a leg at the end. Some of the dishes were pretty standard like the steamed BBQ pork buns or the salted egg yolk lava buns. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pan fried pork buns or the steamed rice rolls. The shrimp dumplings were interesting because they keep the shrimp in larger chunks instead of making a paste. The shrimp dumplings and chive dumplings had a very strong sesame oil flavor to them. We also decided to get some stir-fried pea shoots and their beef chow fun. The pea shoots were super fresh although a little underseasoned so we had to ask for extra oyster sauce on the side. The beef chow fun was one of the better dishes we tried that day-- full of wok hei and packed with meat! There are some spots in Boston Chinatown that I love too much to incorporate Ming's into my dim sum rotation, but if I'm ever getting dim sum with a large group I'd come here. read more

It was a beautiful fall Sunday, and my sister and I decided to take our 91-year-old father out for dim sum at Ming's Seafood Restaurant in Malden. My sister went to pick up our parents, while my husband and I arrived at the restaurant early to secure a table. At the time, there was only one party ahead of us. Since my father has great difficulty walking, his leg is very weak and he cannot stand for long, I politely asked the hostess if we could be seated at a table closer to the door to minimize his walking. She ignored my request and simply responded, "Tell me when everyone is here." As we waited, several groups who arrived after us were seated at tables closer to the entrance. My request was completely disregarded. I approached the hostess a second time, hoping to explain again, but she impatiently repeated, "Tell me when everyone is here," in a dismissive tone. When my parents arrived, there was no table available obviously. We had to find a chair for my father to sit while waiting. Instead of offering any help, the hostess rudely told us, "You need to move so other people can walk." Her attitude toward us was extremely upsetting and completely lacking in basic courtesy and empathy, especially considering our father's age and mobility challenges. This experience sadly has left a very negative impression. We will not be returning to this restaurant again. read more

It's Chinese new year so of course there's a wait list. They asked if we'd like to share a table, and we were hungry and didn't care so we said yes. We got 3 orders of shumai (all for my husband), minion buns (custard filled), chicken feet, rice rolls with shrimp, and rice rolls with bbq pork. Let me tell you, we devoured that in almost the same time it took for us to wait to be seated because it was just so good. Like the group of girls next to us probably ordered the same amount but they weren't even halfway done when we finished. And the group of guys ordered more food than us and had barely started on their huge plates. (Tbh we had a strong urge to ask them for some bc their food looked so mouth watering LOL) They ordered like salt and pepper anchovies and beef chow foon and ugh it looked so good. Next time for sure I'm going with a big group of family bc I want to try a lot more. The custard buns were so soft and cute and the custard was the perfect amount of sweetness. I thought in this type of situation she would tell the kitchen and they would remove the dish from our check, provide a discount, or replace the dish. Since none of these actions were taken, I decided not to tip. At the end of the meal, she confronted me about it in front of my friends, making us very uncomfortable. I hope management can understand why a customer would choose not to tip in this situation. If proper response had been provided, things would've been different. I was treated to Dim Sum by some Chinese friends and was open to eat anything and everything! I enjoyed a new-to-me jelly fish dish nestled on a marinaded bed of carrots and daikon, and I loved the flavor and textures of both. Such a fun dining experience and the place was hopping! You know a place is good when the tables are filled with locals! I consumed most of a pot of delicious jasmine tea! We came on a weekend around 2pm for dim sum, so an hour before dim sum ended so my exceptions were low. They ran out of some dishes, but it made sense since we came near the end. We ordered chicken feet, siu mai, har kau, salt & pepper calamari, steamed rice rolls (shrimp, beef and fried dough), pan fried noodles with XO sauce, and chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Some dishes were good. Some dishes came out cold when it's a hot dish, and there was barely any oyster sauce on the chinese broccoli. Their chili oil is good too. It is a bit pricey for dim sum. The decor is nice and has a good amount of tables. Parking can be difficult sometimes, but there is street parking, parking garages and parking lots are around. The menu came in Chinese and English and with pictures. I think it is extremely helpful. They also offer some special items that I don't usually see at other dim Sum Places. The food was super delicious and not too salty. The price was reasonable. My only complaint was wait time. First of all, there was a long line of waiting. So, be prepared to wait for 30+ min during peak time or share a table with strangers if you want to shorten the wait time.... And it took long time for our food to be ready. Also, the servers were not attentive at all and never came to our table to check on us except taking our order. And we had to call out for him to get the check. Staying in Quincy and, of course, made it a dim sum adventure. Went to this place and also the New Winsor down the street. Ming's only has dim sum until 3pm. I would definitely go back. The dishes are very good. Probably the best sui mai I've had. Like most others mention, the only bad thing is the service. Terrible and rude. Wendy was on the name tag of the waitress that served us. I don't understand how someone who depends on tips would act like this. Wouldn't it make sense to be a little nicer or attentive? You'd maybe get better tips? No hello, no good-bye and nothing in between. You had to flag her down for everything, and when you asked for anything, she would come over, drop it on the table and walk away. You're lucky you got 10% Wendy. You didn't deserve it. One other thing I'll mention about this place and many other dim sum places I've visited in Boston. When customers sit down to dim sum, it is courtous for the waiter/waitress to pour your first cup of tea, to the older folks first out of respect. You then return the appreciation by tapping with your fingers on the tablecloth. It is part of the ritual. Once most places notice that you're not Asian, they just drop the tea pot down on the table and walk away. As if we don't deserve the same respect or courtesy. I find this rude. The place is very nice, spacious, clean, and organized. Compared to other older dim sum spots in boston, this place doesn't feel outdated. It bright, well-lit, and lively. Came on Saturday at 1pm and there were a lot of metered parking spaces available in the area. Dim Sum here at Ming's Seafood Restaurant is always a great time! The food is delicious and it's a great leisurely meal during which you can catch up from the week and enjoy some delusions Chinese small plates. If you've e never had Dim Sum think of it like Spanish tapas. So many dumplings with various fillings we even ordered a plate of shredded chicken pan fried noodles.
