Lucha Libre Pastor Taco and Karate Shrimp Taco

So I went here with one of my partners and there was only two guys working. Wait time was high. And the food was kinda expensive. The place is kinda small but clean. ALL THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! IT WAS WORTH IT. The al pastor taco especially. This was the most tender al pastor I've ever had. I didn't really have to chew, it just melted. And the fries were a good sized portion, crunchy, and the truffle in it was good. I definitely want to come again to try something else.

Found out about this place through FaceBook and decided to try it out! The business was easy to find and parking was decent since it was in a small shopping area. Once inside, you could tell this place was new, and the artwork was awesome since it was various pictures of tacos fighting burgers. They had various options to choose from and the employee helped with suggestions. I ended up ordering the Kung Fu Burger, Gladiator Burger, Lucha Libre Pastor Taco, All-American BBQ Taco, Chicken Strips, and Nashville Chicken Fries. The price was reasonable, and they offered military/first responder discount. I would recommend the Kung Fu Burger, Lucha Libre Pastor Taco, All-American BBQ Taco, and Chicken Strips. The Gladiator burger was ok, but nothing to be in awe about. As for the Nashville Chicken Fries, they were not good. So I would recommend not ordering those. Other than that, the business was clean, and the food was good. I give this place 4 stars.

Leave it to me to go to a place called "Burgers VS Tacos" and order Fish n Chips! But hey, I was in the neighborhood and that's what I was craving. And guess what? More than adequate! Enjoyed my meal outside and caught the sunset on a warm day. I could've used more than one tartar sauce and the fish sticks were on the smaller side but the portion of fries was more than generous. I can't imagine it won't be a summer staple!

I found this place on a satxfoodie IG post and had to check it out! We arrived on a weekday mid afternoon and pretty much had the place to ourselves for a bit, which was nice. Casual order at counter, seat yourself, and when ready food will be delivered to your table kinda place. Left side of the menu was burgers, right side tacos. I loved how it wasn't the usual concoction of burgers and tacos menu, there were some interesting ingredients like pork belly and special sauces. I inquired about the most popular- he stated the gladiator burger. Being a total avocado guac chick, I opted for the Luche Libre burger $12 without cheese. Wow! Amazing flavors, don't really need the cheese. There was plenty of guac, sauces, and flavors happenin'. It's definitely a messy burger to eat, so be sure to stock up on napkins lol. Luche Libre taco- $4 a nice size of fried fish with slaw and a tasty aioli. Enjoyed it! Gladiator burger- delicious! Hubby loved it. Truffle aioli, parmesan onion, crisp, lettuce, truffle dust, bacon, and white cheddar. Check out the menu for their special fries and fried chicken sandwiches. Condiment bar had some great additional sauces, I personally enjoyed the green cilantro crema. Lots of table seating Friendly service Military discount offered.

Cool clean spot. Interesting options. Parking lot out front. Server helpful with what was popular to order. Food came out quick.

Our group of 4 wanted to try a new Burger place close to our house in SA. This was the old location of Smokehouse BBQ and turned into this unique take on burgers vs tacos question. Well, food-wise, their burgers came out dressed, maybe a little too much. Their tacos were delicious and different at the same time. Who knew! Service is simple - look up at the menu items, they're right on a TV monitor. Pay, choose a place to sit, and wait for your order. They have a few tables inside so we did not have trouble finding one. The ambiance is a wide open and airy dining area. It's simple and functional I'd say. Overall, the location, the food and the ambiance are a good formula to having a nice area to have a meal. One of their cute promotions is a counter for Burger vs tacos. The four of us voted for both. For the record, the burgers were ahead on the count!

Able to see in the kitchen when you walk in. Greeted immediately, he explained the sizes of fries ordered easily and self seating to a booth. Food was made to order and came out hot. Burger was great with a nice runny yolk on top I opted to add bacon. You have your choice of fountain soda or bottled. Fries were crispy and perfectly thin. With so many repetitive restaurants out there is nice to find a place with unique menu items.

A Battle of Flavors went down at Burgers vs Tacos between Team Burger & Team Taco This new joint has elevated the term, "Food Fight" to a whole new level! This is where you pit Burger vs Taco and choose the winner for yourself. Decide on the competing items or let them help you, either way, it's gonna be a delicious bout! My winner this time around was Team Burger and the Lucha Libre Burger featuring Al Pastor Pork Belly, Guacamole, Pico de Gallo, White Cheddar, and Macha Aioli. This thing is legit and packs a serious uppercut so be careful. Let us know in the comments, are you Team Burger or Team Taco?

First time in with my husband for lunch today, and wow - what a hidden gem! The guy at the counter was super friendly and gave awesome recommendations. Honestly, everything on the menu looked amazing -- definitely one of those "you can't go wrong" spots. The food? Incredible. So many flavors dancing together -- my taste buds were having a party Highly recommend checking this place out and showing them some love!

All that was left of my, sorry ‍. Wish I had taken a pic of this masterpiece before smashing it lol.

First time at Burgers vs. Tacos today for lunch and we will definitely be back!!!!! Best burger I've had in forever. I got the Lucha Libre Burger and I actually finished it (this never happens). If we lived closer it would be my new weekly burger spot, but as it stands we will be there whenever we can. Staff was great and the atmosphere is great, clean and inviting. Please give this new business a shot you will not be disappointed!

Amazing hands down. We order different things to try but ended up fighting over the Lucha Libre Fish tacos and ordered more. The fish is fried like tempura and it's delicious. I recommend you order something or anything because it will be good. The Asian Barbecue Sauce is delicious and I need to buy some for the house now. The owner said the goal is to open more and I told him come to Houston! The facility is clean and the restroom is as well. The staff is genuinely kind. The music was fun too. We were jamming and doing our food dances.

I must agree with others five stars reviews. Place is clean. Service was very attentive and friendly. We were a party of 6 and everyone ordered different burgers and we shared with each other a taste and we agreed that everyone of the burgers were excellent. And we agreed that will visit this place again!!

GAME CHANGER! When…read moreI visit San Antonio Plantaqueria is an absolute must. I'm taken aback every time I walk into to this wonderfully positioned taqueria in downtown steps from the River Walk. The smells, the feels, the sounds- it'll set your senses on fire. It's ambience is nothing short of walking the streets of Mexico and stumbling across the best local food find there is- it's your lucky day. It doesn't end there, because I have yet to discuss the flavors that this place dishes out. If you can imagine that other taquerias in town as as good as mamma's cooking, Plantaqueria is grandma's cooking saying, " I taught them everything they know." The counter service, decor and neon lights transport you to a pueblo that you probably have no business being in but were fortunate enough to get lost in. I feel that the people working to advance this visionary concept are in love with what they do because you get that experience with every bite of fresh, homemade goodness, weather you dine in or take/order out. Dude, fresh corn and flour tortillas, C'mon, man!! And speaking of vision, the owner, Sofia, who looks like she would get IDd at a bar has created something truly unique and incredibly delicious. Plantaqueria has revolutionized modern, classical Mexican street cuisine. It's open 7am-7pm so you can literally have this all day and you might wish you did. Y'all need to get you some, and don't thank me, thank the purveyors of this Alamo City gem. P.s. I've brought my mom in to eat this stuff and she totally agrees!

(It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

That's exactly the energy at Los Weyes de la Asada. From the second you walk up, it feels alive. Not in a forced way, more like you've been there before, even if it's your first time. The kind of place where your stress, your diet, even your cruda takes a backseat. Now the food. No overthinking needed here. Everything coming out of that truck is a straight up pow pow of flavor. The carne is cooked just right, juicy with that perfect char, and the corn tortillas are legit, soft but with enough structure to hold everything together. I ordered the Mamón and the Chingón, and honestly, both lived up to the names. No misses. And the agua fresca de fresa? That sealed it. They serve it in a little bolsita, which somehow makes it hit even better. Simple, nostalgic, and just cool. It's all tucked inside El Camino, which adds to the whole vibe, string lights, people hanging out, that easygoing outdoor feel where you lose track of time a little.

The smell alone made me think we were in for something special. We grabbed a couple of cocktails and ordered tacos, which seemed like the obvious choice. With the aroma coming from the grill and all the recommendations I'd heard, I was expecting a little more flavor and a bigger wow factor. The atmosphere was fun, the service was good, and the charcoal grill definitely adds to the experience. I just found the food itself to be more "solid" than "spectacular." As a fellow citizen of H-town, we have a vibrant taco scene and I would put this place up there with some of my favorite spots I frequented in HOU. Each time I've been here, I've ordered between 8-9 tacos as they are each $2.50. I've gotten a combination of pastor, barbacoa, lengua, bistec, and cabeza. I can't really select a favorite cause they're all so delicious with the meats tender and juicy with a heaping sprinkle of onions and cilantro. Make sure you squeeze the lime on it and mix it with the radish/cucumber garnish they'll throw in there. And don't forget to throw on that green/red salsa they provide. Either eat there or get it to go (which is what I did). Fortunately the tacos travel well as they were still hot when I posted up at my hotel to grub. Don't be discouraged of the long line if you see one as it moves quick. You walk up and place your order, then pay afterwards. It's somewhat of an honor system but there is security present when I went there so that eased my concerns. For drinks, it's either soft drinks, water, or mineral water. No alcohol is served here so if you want margaritas/micheladas/beer, you'll have to go elsewhere for that. No doubt I'm returning next time I'm in SA. Viva Taquitos West SIDE!
