It looks like I'm an outlier, but I was not terribly happy with this place. It's quite small inside, with limited seating, but has a bit more outdoor seating. You stand in line and look at the case of about 14 different pizza varieties, but none of it is labeled in the case or on the menu board, and the guy serving up the slices does not look approachable and of course you don't wanna hang up the line while asking what's in every variety. All of it looks like it's been sitting there for hours or days. Then you go to the next station to pay and you have to tell them on the honor system how many slices you got. That guy was looking at his phone the entire time I was paying. I got the barbecue chicken and it was reheated, par-baked, stiff, and a bit dry, with minimal cheese and extremely small pieces of chicken, and not much flavor. The other people in my party liked theirs. I live in Italy half time so I'm quite familiar with good pizza. I would not return.

LOVE their Hawaiian pizza. Those ham slices are so good. It's best eaten when fresh- when hot and out of the oven it gets a crispy bottom. Their spaghetti bolognese is also fire. It was sooo warm and steaming. Great amount of sauce + meat in the sauce. Garlic bread is decent, but not very garlicky and pretty dry. I would get it with a marinara but otherwise pass. Great salad too! Crispy Romain lettuce and a hint of feta on top. Great ambiance by the ocean. Plus afterwards you can stop for a coffee next door at Birdrock Coffee Roasters.

Perfect spot to grab a slice or a whole pie. Great location with delicious NY style pizza and a fun atmosphere. The outdoor patio has plenty of seating, a bar, and TVs to catch a game while you enjoy your meal. Definitely a great place to hang out with friends or watch the game over pizza and drinks.

Quick, relaxed spot near Torrey Pines to get a pre/post hike drink + bite. The service is speedy, friendly, and food is tasty! They have pizzas by the slice and price are good too.

After a nice walk at Torrey Pines we popped on over to Buonasera for a quick bite. We ordered a large salad and an eggplant parm pizza. My first bite and my feet were doing the yummy dance! It was so tasty! I'm not a huge sauce person but it just went to good together! If you're an eggplant parm person you just might enjoy the pizza as much as we did. Service was friendly and fast and the line went quickly. We sat outside since it was so beautiful outside and the weather was ideal with the sun shining on my skin. I want to keep this place a secret but sharing is caring! You're welcome!

We came here craving thin crust pizza and decided to try an 18" pie, half Hawaiian and half eggplant. We also subbed ham for pepperoni. The flavors were good overall, and we do like their thin crust style. Unfortunately, the bottom of the pizza was pretty burnt, which gave it a bitter taste and took away from the experience. That was a bit disappointing, especially since the toppings themselves were enjoyable. Love that they have seatings inside and outside. There is also a little bar station outside. The view is amazing! On a positive note, the staffs were very friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick. I'd be open to giving this place another try, hoping the crust comes out better next time.

Stopped by for lunch after hiking Torrey Pines, what a beautiful hike and to top it off we got to see part of the Torrey Pines golf course. I consider myself to be somewhat of a pizza snob and I have to say this was some of the best pizza I have ever had. If you like a thin crust pizza that stands up well I think you will love this pizza. My wife and I had the two slice special along with two garlic rolls. I had a margarita slice which was one of the best I have ever had and the second slice was meatball and a few veggies, outstanding. The garlic rolls were on the dense side but when you dip them in the marinara sauce it was perfection. We ordered a couple to go to enjoy later

I got the chorizo pizza-- it had sliced of jalapeño, some red onion, and crumbled chorizo that got all crispy ... so good! But not as good as my favorite the Buffalo chicken & ranch. It was nice for a change of taste. I don't think you can go wrong with any slice you choose. The pizzas are thin and crispy, with a good chew in the crust. They make them fresh in the early morning & yeah it sits in the case -- but they heat it up very well for you. It's not overly cooked or worse, cold! The slices are fairly priced and there's lots of seating available. Many people opt to sit outside in the sunshine, rather than inside. Service was good, the worker was kind and even brought the pizza out to our table.

Came here after we attempted to hike Torrey pines but sadly it was closed. We were hungry and came here for lunch. Two small one year children and four hungry adults walk in and find seating outside. You order inside and they bring the food out to you. Weirdly, I didn't get a number or anything after I placed my order for pizza, garlic knots, and antipasto salad. They had a deal for 6 breadsticks for $7 otherwise it was $1.50 each. I was hoping to get the garlic knots earlier bc I was so hungry. I thought they were just going to grab it from the display window and bring it out. It ended up what felt like forever (realistically like 10 min lol) when they heated it up and give us marinara sauce to dip it in. It was so garlicky and delicious. I'm a garlic girl and I approve! We devoured the knots while we waited for the pizza. I was obviously pretty hungry otherwise I would have remembered to take a photo of the food. Oops. I didn't try the antipasto salad but my crew said it was good. I'm personally not a fan of iceberg lettuce. The pizza we ordered was a large half margarita and half Miramar. The pizza hit the spot. The crust wasn't too doughy and had a good amount of crunch to it. My favorite was the Miramar. The Gorgonzola cheese paired well with bacon. It was just what we needed to revive ourselves. We all took a long nap after from the food coma. I'm glad I got to try this spot.

This spot in Del Mar was such a good find!! The whole place has a really nice coastal feel to it, but still feels elevated and put together. One of the first things that stood out to me was the outdoor bar area. It has granite countertops that looked super nice, and with the afternoon sun hitting them, it gave the whole space a really clean, high-end look. Inside is really nice too. They have big windows that let in a ton of natural light, which makes the whole place feel bright, open, and welcoming. Outside might have been my favorite part though. The seating area overlooks the beach and the marsh that connects to the ocean, so the view is honestly hard to beat. They also have these red umbrellas outside that add a really nice pop visually, and the landscaping is done really well too, which ties the whole outdoor space together. Food wise, the pizza was delicious. I got the buffalo pizza and the chicken bacon ranch pizza, and both were really solid. My favorite if the two was the CBR. Definitely the kind of place where the food matches the setting. The pricing was also pretty reasonable, which made the experience even better. The service was great too. Everyone there was really nice, friendly, and easygoing, which made the whole vibe even better. This feels like the perfect spot to hit after a surf session, a beach day, or even a hike around the area. You get the best of both worlds, plenty of sun and that outdoor SoCal feel, but also enough shade where you can actually relax and enjoy being outside without cooking in the sun. Overall, really good food, really nice atmosphere, great service, and an awesome location. Definitely a spot worth coming back to.

I wasn't expecting much but we were starving and needed to grab a quick bite while waiting for coffee. The pizza by the slice is AMAZING. Got the chorizo with jalapeño and wow. The crust is perfectly thin without being too thin and the ingredients are well balanced. Ample seating inside and outside. Street parking and a small parking area in the back. Service is friendly.

As a born, bred and buttered New Yorker I have a p a l a t e for my pizza! This has been the ultimate conquest for me as a new Californian. I find myself getting almost there. Thankful for the kind citizen I struck up a convo with at the Cardiff farmers market who found out I was from upstate NY and asked me if I found good pizza here and recommended this place- NYers always looking out for one another. It's a ways away but if I was in the area I'd def pop in for a slice and a drink. Not sure about parking but looks like only street parking and it's busy. Small dining area but seemed to turnover quickly- love the patio area with seats and a full bar. The pizza was tasty. I'd be curious to try their famous crime scene slice. The garlic knots were also good and large. It was nice to have the salad options to feel like I had a balance meal. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. Oh and the price point is really good! About $13 for that and you could easily split between 2.

Went on Friday March 7th around 11am. The bar tender was absolute rude primarily because he was serving minorities. He was only nice to white people, soon as he saw my friend (African American and Asian) he blew us off completely. He should get fired. I did not get his name but I'll confront him next time. He is garbage and is more suitable to clean toilets. This place is a disgrace if he is still employed here. Besides that, food was great. read more

We've stopped here a few times for a couple of slices and a beer. Always happy with the experience. Tonight we bought a whole pie and brought it home. The veggie red pizza was delicious and easily worth $30. The only veggie pizza I've ever had that seriously did not need any meat. Quality ingredients and no skimping on toppings made this meal a hit. We will be back again soon. read more

Favorite pizza place! I love going here. My favorite pizza is the margherita. The pizza is great and good quality. The location is so beautiful too since the beach is viewable from the patio. They have both indoor and outdoor seating but the patio is very nice to eat on. The price per slice is also very reasonable! The garlic knots are good too but the pizza is where its at read more

My wife and I love this spot. Alec and the rest of the staff are always going hard making sure the beers are flowing and pizza is served hot. We have watched many sunsets here while the padres play. Our favorite and most dependable restaurant in large part to the staff. The wings and pizza are great, pepperoni and mushrooms done right! We have a good time every time. If you get lucky you might spot a Del Martian or two, normally on a full moon. read more

For those looking for authentic NY style pizza, you will not find it here. In fairness, I have yet to find any place outside of NY that can do a true NY pizza. I have heard it's because the water in NY lends to a different dough. Whatever it is, it seems nearly impossible to replicate a NY pizza. This place is fine. Nice outdoor seating with bar. Lots of variety of pizzas and flavor profile is good. It's just not better than a Regent's, Frescos, or Crust so nothing special. The pizza is too thick and lacks the black char on bottom to qualify as a NY pizza. The plain cheese was disappointing but pizzas with toppings tasted better. You can buy by the slice. Note this is the sister restaurant to Bongiorno's in Solana Beach. Pizza tastes the same at both locations. read more

Pizza by the slice? Yes please! Ordered a slice of pepperoni and jalapeno pizza and it did not disappoint! Very reasonably priced. The crust is light & crispy. They put your slice in the oven after you order it so it's hot and ready! Lovely patio and seated area outside where you can enjoy your pizza with a great view. I ordered over the phone in attempt for delivery 1 mile away to my hotel. They said 1.25 hr for delivery or 25min for pickup ... 1.25hr later I picked up my food it wasn't ready. Granted the place was packed.... But still. Chicken sandwich is more like tenders in Costco sub bread. Pizza slice bread was sub par. I ordered pasta for my kid they only carry spaghetti I was trying for rigatoni or farfalle (ny pizza on the sign they should just add by style). Glad I checked before I left the pasta order was wrong and I still left short the included garlic knot. (I also had a side order of 6... you can tell in the dough). I do not recommend but when you are traveling and trying to make the family happy, you give places a try. Great lesson on being thankful for what you have at the moment. No olives in the antipasta. For an area to seem quite fancy I didn't taste fancy priced ingredients. Lovely place and nice ambiance if you are at that outdoor bar. I wasn't happy when I saw a small oven to reheat slices but they did have a decent pizza oven back there. For all that hassle I would've picked up some food over in Italian district in Gaslamp or elsewhere. There is also a spirit shop 1 block away. When I got back to my room I phoned back to the person that took my order they said they would refund the pasta dish. I hope it comes through. And no forks. Usually I'm telling people no thanks on the forks... today they just wanted me rushed out the doors. read more

Came here on a whim and was very disappointed. The pizza looked good initially, but overall was nothing special. Crust was thin and crispy, which I liked, but you could find this pizza anywhere. The alfredo didn't come with chicken, and the sauce was watery and extremely mild. The sauce didn't stick to the noodles, and just had a very strong butter flavor, nothing more. The garlic knot was our last hope but after the first bite, realized it was extremely thick and bready, not at all crispy, with a weak garlic flavor. And for the cherry on top, there was piece of hair right in the middle. The service was okay-- our cashier was friendly but the pizza guy didn't seem to want to be there at all. The area and views were beautiful, but will not be coming back to this place. read more

I came here with a group of friends and we had a great time due to the the great ambiance. However, the service here was under par and the food was satisfactory. The employee was really impatient and kept on rushing us to make orders. He was getting mad when we asked him questions which didn't make sense because your job is to help and serve. The lady getting the orders for the pizza was serving wrong orders to people as well. The food here was a bit disappointing. I ordered the meatball sandwich and it was super messy. The sauce and cheese was extremely hot for the bread that everything just falls out and burns your hand. The meatball was bland and the sauce was lacking flavor. This probably had to be the worst meatball sandwich I've ever had. What was wore than the sandwich was the cannoli. The filling was nasty and the texture was so grainy. I don't think I will be back at this place again. I think there other spots out there that will provide better food and service. read more

The staff was very nice, and the music is not too loud. It's good quality for the price, $4 per slice or 2 and a soda for $10. Garlic knots were very garlicky and both pizzas were delicious. The crust is thin and crunchy, but not burnt. read more

Came from San Gabriel valley to watch my son play at SDSU and wanted some good pizza near by. I found Bongiorno's, and it didn't disappoint. The staff was very friendly the it was comfortable to eat there. Definitely one back if I'm in the area ! read more

Drove past this place multiple times and finally got the chance to see eat here. This is my favorite pizza place hands down. We were lucky to park right across the street (be careful to cross) and ordered 8 different slices. Loved that the pizza is not gooey and greasy as some NY style pizza places I've tried. I'd recommend the BBQ chicken pizza was my favorite and you can't beat the beautiful view of Torrey Pines. Plenty of seating inside and out read more

Buonasera New York Pizzeria Torrey Pines finally open and I'm excited to have great New York style thin crust close by! Great views from the bar and eating area to Torrey Pines Lagoon. Fresh hot pizza by the slice or whole pizza is delicious. Meal deal 2 slices and a drink is there specials. Antipasti looked great and will give that a try next visit. Great casual place for pizza by the slice. I like to come here after hiking Torrey Pines. It's always pretty busy but the staff does a great job with getting food out quickly. There's also a bar outside with a good selection of beer/wine at a decent price. read more

Amazing brand new location. Same great food as Solana Beach but with a ocean view. Seriously -- the best pizza and stromboli's in North County. Don't waste your gas and time looking for better, it won't happen. Down right delicious. Nice patio outside to relax and enjoy the meal or get it to go. Parking can be tight but worth the challenge. Staff = friendly service! read more

This is one of the few 'go it alone' Restaurant Reviews. No big crew with me this time around because it's just a local gem. Maybe we'll do something bigger later this year, reviewing 10-12 dishes instead of just their pizza and new location, but here you go! You just can't beat the pizza at Buonasera. I used to have to go all the way down to Bonjourno on Stevens in Solana Beach if I wanted Pizza or just to buy their dough balls. But now, we have a Carmel Valley location that really hits the spot for me. This last time we went, we placed an order and walked to another restaurant close by, for a drink. When I visited I really wanted an eggplant heroe but when I got to the counter I was told they didn't have it so I was bummed. Initially, I got the feeling the cashier was recommending a pizza instead. I coukd be wrong but I glanced over at their New York Style thin crust slices. They had an eggplant slice with ricotta, and fresh basil. Ordered a slice with a house salad. Their homemade vinaigrette was so good, I could drink it. The sliced was placed in the oven and was perfectly crispy! Oh and don't skip on the garlic knot, so yummy and a good size too. Next visit, I'm hoping to try a sandwich since it didn't work out the first time but I'm glad I tried their pizza. read more

ordered delivery on sunday late afternoon. good regular pizza, but their gluten free crust was a disaster. for some reason the crust molded into the paper in the bottom of the box and the two were impossible to separate. i had to rip apart the pizza trying to free a slice, most of the pie was ruined by the paper and i could only eat 2/3 of it. i tried reheating the pizza hoping it would firm up the crust but that didnt help at all. disappointing. what i was able to eat tasted great tho! hopefully i can have a better experience ordering gluten free crust in the future read more

Best pizza place in town! Been going to their other store Bongiornos for years and love it but this beats that by a mile! 9 bucks for 2 amazing slices of pizza and a drink is an amazing deal! Store is super modern, clean, and super pretty with a killer view. Amazing staff and the manager who runs the whole store is super friendly and cool. Highly reccomend y'all going. read more

A few suggestions (other than more reasonable prices): pay attention to dine in vs. to go. Offer different types of pizza every once in a while, or offer seasonal. I stopped by Buenasera Pizza off Carmel Valley Road for the first time, and I'm so glad I did! The pizza was fantastic--perfectly thin, with a crispy crust and fresh, flavorful toppings.
