I recently went to Jewel Gallery to replace a battery for one of my watches. Jewel Gallery is a little family owned jeweler that has been serving the Burbank community for over 30 years. My normal jeweler has been closed due to the Covid pandemic, so I've been on the hunt for a place that replaces watch batteries. I noticed the watch battery sign on their window while running errands and decided to stop in. The owners were friendly and had my watch ready to go within 10 minutes. I was happy until the next day when my watch stopped working. I just got a battery. How could this be? Anyways, I stopped back in the next day and explained the problem to the owner. The owner promptly took my watch to the repair station in the back and took a look. After fiddling with it for about five minutes he said the battery was fine and it was probably just a hiccup , which sometimes happens. The owner got my watch up and running free of charge and I was on my way. I appreciate that he remembered me from the day before and got my watch running . Thankfully, I haven't had any issues ,since. I'm not a horologists so I will never know if it was shoddy work by the owner on my first visit or truly just a harmless malfunction. I walked into Jewel Gallery because I wanted to give one of my gold chains as a gift to my doctor, and all I wanted to know is whether it was 18 carats gold or not. After they had let me in, I greeted both the lady and gentleman there, took out my gold chain, and asked politely if they could let me know whether it was 18 carats gold or not. The lady immediately replied, "you must only pay for that in cash; no credit card, no debit card, or check." I just replied, "okay; that's no problem". I was on my way to my doctor's clinic and wanted to give her the gift right away, so I did not walk out of Jewel Gallery to find a more cooperative jeweler. After one minute of examining my chain, the man there said: It is 18 carats gold. I took out the payment they had requested, IN CASH, then I said: "thank you", and left. One week later, I needed another jewelry evaluation, and chose Altobelli Jewelry and Appraisal Services on Riverside Drive, also in Burbank, because all their ratings were exclusively five stars. After Mr. Altobelli had carefully taken the time to provide the evaluation I had requested, and handed me back my item of jewelry, I asked him: "how do you prefer to be paid for that, by credit card, debit card, check, or cash?" Mr. Altobelli very kindly and courteously replied: "you may pay for that in any way which is the most comfortable for you." As you are reading this, and searching for the best possible jeweler for your jewelry needs, as well as for the highest quality of service, which of these two jewelry locations would you choose? What a surprise when I needed my terribly entangled necklace and bracelet to be teased apart, my husband drove up to Jewel Gallery. I also didn't know he'd been a customer for many years for his jewelry items. I was worried it was a lost cause because these were both very delicate chains, and to make matters worse, the bracelet had a magnetic clasp making it a nightmare. We were overwhelmed by the downtown La jewelry district and decided to get our wedding rings sized and altered here. They are antique rings which needed a lot of work. One ring had a very high set diamond that needed to have its basket lowered as well as sized and cleaned up. The other ring was dull and very used and needed to be sized and cleaned. Vrej is a true master of his craft. My fiancé and I brought in her engagement ring (that I bought somewhere else) for resizing and to secure the loose center stone. He accidentally chipped the stone when adjusting it (very minor chip), which was disappointing, but we're all human right? He didn't try to pass the blame, he had us leave the ring so he could either polish the stone back to perfection or replace it if necessary.
