Have you ever been so looking forward to trying out a new place that the possibility of you not loving it never even occurs to you?That was my experience with Burger 21. Now, to be fair, my husband and kids loved it. Me--not so much. I'm trying to eat healthily so I checked the menu before I got here and decided on the "Skinny" Turkey Burger. They don't carry that item in the Albuquerque location so I had to rethink my strategy. It was interesting to me that their gluten-free offerings for sandwiches only included a few of their beef burgers, but not the chicken. No problem. I'm not dedicated gluten-free and the Skinny Turkey said they put it in a "leafy" lettuce bun. I assumed that this meant a dark healthful green leaf lettuce wrap so ordered the chicken in lettuce. What I got was a weird chicken patty thing-- it cannot be just ground chicken because it had a strange crust that reminded me of a light flour breading so there was an unhealthy deep fried quality to it--all wrapped up in pale, pathetic iceberg lettuce. Seriously. This is what they consider a "leafy" lettuce bun. Okayyyyy. It would not have been so bad if the chicken hadn't been so weird and greasy, but to not have a healthier sandwich offering is unforgivable. Hubby and son got the cheesy bacon and daughter got the Tex Mex. They all really enjoyed their burgers and shakes so if it weren't for the lack of a healthy alternative I would have rated them much higher. Honestly, I can get a better and healthier grilled chicken sandwich at Chick-Fil-A. Bottom line, don't come here when you want to eat right but can't look at another salad. read more

Great place to go have lunch! The place was clean, casual, and very open. The staff was very friendly, it was our first time here and the lady who took our order was helpful. She explained the portion sizes and the how-to's. I went with the #2 cheesy, you get to choose your kind of cheesy goodness! My sister ordered the Bacon Cheesy Sliders that were also very delicious. My hamburger was hot, well done, and not to oily! I believe it was about $7 for the burger alone. The sliders were also well done and the bacon was crispy and added a crunch. Everything was seasoned perfectly to our liking. I was surprised at the size of the menu options as well. Unlike a fast food place with its limited options or restaurants with their insanely priced options I thought the prices were appropriate and an affordable once in a while option. They also had gluten free options, and although I'm no longer strictly vegetarian they only had one option (black bean burger )which I don't think is fair. I think more vegetarian or vegan options should be added to the menu. We also got the 50/50 shareable fries (half reg. half sweet potatoes) were also thin, crispy, and a sizable portion for about $5. I think we could have gone with a regular size of the sweet potato and have had enough for the both of us. Overall, great experience at this new addition to our Winrock Center. read more

Burger 21 - Albuquerque, NM We've only been here once, but my family loves this place a lot. I thought the burger was good, but it also felt like a pretty standard burger with not much to discuss. It was good, but it wasn't amazing. The fries are great though! You have a choice of regular or sweet potato, and both are good choices. What really makes this place awesome is that there is a whole BAR of sauce choices! These really elevate your burgers and fries and make them something more special than just your average burger and fries. It's a new and pretty busy place, we had to eat outside. Most of the time that would be just fine, but it was a little cold on the day we went so I just recommend that you see how busy it is before going. The place is brand new and nice and clean. Employees seem helpful and friendly. I will definitely come back here again and give it more shots, because it definitely has some potential to be really amazing. read more

Nice burgers and fries except they didn't cook our burgers medium. They looked pretty rare to me. I usually would knock a star, but I truly think they're still too new and are just getting situated at their new Uptown location. I hope they cook them better next time. We'll be back to give them another try. read more

I had been wanting to try Burger 21 ever since it had opened and was finally able to try it this past week. I was originally attracted to the restaurant because it has a nice modern appearance and wide variety of burgers on the menu. Unfortunately it didn't live up to what I had expected at all. I tried the Tex-Mex Haystack Burger and it was completely overpowered by the onion strings and bacon that were greasy. All you can taste is the grease in every bite and I left me not wanting to finish the burger . The fries weren't bad, but you definitely need sauces with them since they didn't have a lot of flavor. Probably the best thing on the menu was the milkshake. That was the only part of my meal that I enjoyed. read more

Burger? Good. Fries? Good. Service? Good. While everything was good, it didn't stand out as one of the best burgers. They do have an impressive selection of choices, though I counted 15 options on the menu as opposed to the 21 the name implies, but still a good variety. I tried the mushroom burger and while it was good, it wasn't amazing. I felt the burger was a bit on the smallish side for the price, the bun could have been a little more toasty to prevent sogginess, and it came out more on the medium well side as opposed to well done as I ordered it. The service was friendly though, and the employees were on top of clearing the table and getting refills on our drinks. If I'm in the area and in the mood for a burger, I'd definitely choose here over Red Robin. I'm curious to try the Impossible burger. I may get that next time! read more

Pricey gourmet burgers in a fast food type fashion. That's the best way I can describe this burger experience and I LOVE burgers. We arrived at 5 pm as the sun was setting and there were several places we just could not sit due to the glaring sun in our eyes. Shades are a good Idea for this local. The staff was pleasant, the food was okay. I tried the cheesy bacon burger. The burgers are small for the price, but it's "gourmet" so the expectation was met. The ingredients were fresh and the wait time was low. Overall it wasn't anything terribly special. Something different, so I recommend giving it a try at least once. read more

A good burger spot with some unique choices, but just a little pricey. I have been here a couple of times. The burgers a good especially with and egg on top. The fries are crispy and flavorful. Try the Thai ketchup very good. They have a variety of different dipping sauces. Also, the best beyond beef burger we have found so far for all you vegetarians out here in yelp land. read more

Ok so foods pretty good but to me and my friend thought the fries where a little over salted and this one is merely only my opinion on the number 22 burger but I definitely don't recommend it I think that the syrup on it completely offset the test of the burger but that's just my opinion on that burger but the other burgers look really good but I do say that customer service is excellent and if you have issues they fix it fast so I definitely recommend checking this place out. read more

My husband is addicted to shakes so we got the kids size Oreos cookies and cream shake. It had great taste and very creamy. We ordered the Tex Mex Heystack and the Memphis BBQ Burger. Both burgers were delicious but the Memphis burger had a lot more flavor. The sweet potatoes fries where crunchy and they had different sauces for them. We will definitely be going back. read more

Some friends recommended the 24/7 burger, which at first glance sounded bizarre, but I'm very glad I tried it! The maple syrup wasn't overwhelming, and the egg and hash brown combination made for a very juicy and satisfying burger. The Chili Cheese Crunch burger was a little on the dry side, because they went for a safe-to-eat-in-polite-company amount of chili, as opposed to a Tommy's-style flood of chili. They have many interesting sauces at the bar, and it looked like at least some of the options were seasonal. I'd recommend asking for lighter salt on the fries. read more

Finally got to visit Burger 21 today...super fun, clean and casual atmosphere. Burger was pretty good...I got the bacon cheese burger with GOUDA!! Wait, what....I can honestly say that I haven't been to a burger joint offer Gouda! Anyway, it was a great combination and then on top of that, Burger 21 has a variety of sauces you can add to your burger and fries (including a toasted MARSHMALLOW sauce with your sweet potato fries...YUM!!). They actually have a wide variety of options, including veggie, seafood & chicken "burgers." The only con I had was the burger patty seemed to be very well done on all three of our burgers even though we all ordered medium. Will definitely go back! read more

Tried this for the first time last weekend... Not impressed. I had the sliders, my friend had the 21 Burger. Both were flavorless and the fries were way too salty. This place doesn't seem to get the "to-go thing", fries in medium cups are just cumbersome, they should be using the boxes like everyone else. Onion strings, don't bother, I got a cup of onion crumbs that I couldn't even eat. And my strawberry shake was tasty until I sucked up a green part with my straw.. They didn't even prep the strawberries, lazy and gross... With so many decent burger choices in town I can't find any reason for another go at this place. Holy Cow for the win. read more

My friends told me they come to Burger 21 a lot so we went there while I was with them. I had a salad and a chicken sandwich which was really good. My friends had burgers and fries which looked very tasty. The staff was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The place is clean and kinda trendy looking. Ended up at Burger 21 after a failed attempt to eat at a near-by restaurant; been here before and enjoy the food. The staff is friendly and efficient; the wait for your food isn't long. The burgers are delicious and perfectly cooked to your request, medium-rare for me please - and it was. My favorite is the #2. LOVE the brioche buns! The price is reasonable too; its not the value menu at a fast-food burger joint, but its not $$$ like some boutique burger places can be. I always have a good meal here! read more

Not a fan of skinny fries. Only thing keeps this from 5 star is the skinny fries. They got no flavor and they get cold way too fast. Other than that the burgers are priced high but so is everyone else. I enjoyed the burger but recommend you get the onion rings/strings instead of the fries. read more

First time visiting this burger joint. Tried the black and blue burger. It had chunks of cheese that were not melted but overall the burger had a great flavor. The fries were salty and crispy just as I like them. My husband has the green Chile cheeseburger. The Chile had a nice flavor with the cheese mixed in and juices coming out. They got the burger out in fast time. Had to wait on refills for the drink which is a little outdated. Otherwise a great meal for about $20. read more

I have not actually been to this restaurant, but have been ordering delivery from them for months. Their burgers, fries and shakes are all excellent. I love the OMG, bbq and haystack burgers and their sweet potato fries are especially good. Also love their chocolate shake. Good sized portions, too! When you need a burger in a hurry, this spot has got you covered! This restaurant's atmosphere is a modern, minimalist's paradise as the lack of decor helps put more emphasis on the food. Staff at the counter were new to using the ordering program, but none the less were very kind during our interaction. The sauce bar really stuck out with some known and new sauce flavors (highly recommend the Thai Ketchup and Ragin Cajun sauce). The burgers were good in both taste and the texture of the buns being so pillowy. The sweet potato fries were tasty, but had loads of salt that somewhat overpowered the actual fries. The level of combinations and flavor profiles for each burger really gave the selection a uniqueness all its own. Though it is not the greatest burger spot ever, this newcomer is definitely a top contender! read more

I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious the burgers are here! I had the 101 and my husband ordered the Tex mex haystack. I also ordered the half and half fries (regular and sweet potato) in the shareable size and it was way more than enough for the both of us! The food came out quick and they have 10 sauces to choose from to dip your burger or fries in! They also had a variety of milkshakes that I will be back to try! Overall I loved it, I recommend coming here and I will definitely be back with friends. read more

Tasted like a burger to me! I ordered my burger medium rare and it was made almost well done which in turn made my burger pretty dry. I ordered the bacon cheesy with a lettuce bun and I like having that option since I'm living a low carb lifestyle.. There was a sort of novelty array/selection of different sauces and condiments.. namely, marshmallow and apple cider vinegar dunks for your sweet potato or regular French fries which I think is pretty innovative. Call me a Burqueña if you must but I am a sucker for Griff's and Blake's Lotaburger. These remain unscathed as my top burger joints. My boyfriend and I did however conduct an experiment of Wendy's fast food proportions. We dunked our salty fries into his peanut butter and jelly shake and discovered a gloried frosty-French fry counterpart. read more

You know, this is a pretty dang good burger joint! Non-beef options (which I haven't tried) such as chicken and veggies. Quite happy with the crispy, salty delicious half and half Gluten Free sweet potato and regular fries. They do a mighty fine lettuce wrap for us GF folk. Would love to see a grass fed option, and some organic vegis to push it over the 5 star mark! read more

Food is so great I always forget to take a photo. The burgers are some of the best made burgers I've been able to get in Albuquerque, and they give you so many fries. The sauces are what makes this place the most unique and they have so many to choose from it's hard to find a favorite. I would definitely recommend coming here, and plan on visiting soon. read more

When we lived in Charlotte area we frequented their Ballentyne location. I turned down the road for Dave & Busters in Uptown and saw Burger 21 had just opened. I'm pretty sure my 20 month old son learned a few new swear words as I was super excited to see this place! Burgers are great. Service is great. Their vanilla shake is off the charts! read more

The food here is good but getting a meal is super overpriced. The burgers themselves are inexpensive without any modifications. To get fries and a drink basically doubles the price, which is a little absurd. read more

When I began using the tablet I was in search of the new mushroom burger they sent me an email yesterday about. Of course you know it's what I wanted to try. Sadly it wasn't on the menu on the tablet. When I called the employee for help I basically got the vibe he didn't want to be there and he was hesitant to approach. When he did come to the counter I asked about the burger even showed him the email to get told it's not out yet and it was coming soon. I found myself wondering why I even got the email if this was true. Needless to say the food came out really fast. I thought well that's good at least. The presentation was better than the experience. The cheese on the queso fries was pretty skimpy. There were way more fries than cheese which was disappointing. The burger I wasn't a fan of either. It needed more cheese and the stackers sauce tasted strange like it a chipotle sauce it wasn't the same as I recalled. I'm sad to say this is the second location I've had a bad experience with. It's really disappointing because I really loved this place. I guess I'll have to stick to the central food hall because so far that's the only location that hasn't disappointed me like this yet.

I said, okay, I guess, and went on to order a double hamburger, and a regular burger with fries and drinks. She pointed at the cooler where their canned soda pop was, without another word. We got our 'drinks' and sat down to wait. The staff in the back was clearly miffed that people had shown up for service, too, as we heard stuff getting slammed around along with foul-mouthed whining from them, as we sat there watching and listening to the counter girl picking up and banging the chairs up onto the tables around us. Eighteen minutes later, we got the 35 dollar bag of food from her. The 'sandwiches' were garnished with chopped up lettuce, tomatoes, and onion mixed up in a goopy slather of mayo and ketchup. There was no salt on the fries or anything else on those bland over microwaved burger patties served on un-grilled hamburger buns. Exactly the Opposite of what I had known Burger Boy to be in the past. When I went up to try and return that stuff, the door was locked, and I was completely ignored even with the other four people still in there waiting. We were hungry, and I was done with that stupid place, so we left, and yes, we did eat that wretched meal. Obviously, I will never stop there again, and I will heep scorn upon that cruddy place any every chance I get for the rest of my days.

This also happened the first time we came to eat at social house a year ago, but it felt more pronounced this time. And the restaurant was not full. Probably a third full of patrons? We were seated at 6:45 and our food did not arrive until 830. Quite the wait if you ask me. Finally, the kitchen was having some sort of smoke issue. If you've never been in an establishment where the grease smell and smoke is visibly accumulating in the air, you know it's quite distracting from a dining experience. It was so smoky inside. I actually caught myself blinking my eyes to see if it was just my vision being blurry or if it was the room. Our food was fine, the pork belly was a standout. Otherwise, I'm not sure I need to come here again. I wish that they would get a better handle on service timing, because that seems to be an ongoing issue.
