Was really craving a burger joint and chanced upon burger bar on DoorDash. Menu is pretty advanced with options you wouldn't normally see: fish and chips, nachos, chicken sandos on top of the actual variety of burgers. I opted for the chilli cheese nachos and they did not disappoint. Perfect snack size.

Bacon Cheeseburger & Onion Rings

Had an old school burger joint craving and finally checked out the "historic" Burger Bar (Historic is in the Yelp description and I'm all about trying legacy places to eat). Sadly, I wasn't blown away. Bacon Cheeseburger was a bit small. Onion Rings so so. Root beer float - just ok. Considering the price it wasn't too bad. Wasn't too busy but the wait for the food took a while. Very friendly staff (family owned?) I'll probably try another spot before driving over to the South First area. The place is located in a slightly seedy area so if that bothers you then you might try a different area. I don't have a problem with it as often it's where great food lives. Also, if you're driving around rush hour access into the parking lot is tough. The entrance is off of Goodyear which becomes Keyes when it crosses S. First. Best to take Goodyear and make an easy right turn into the large parking lot. The access off S First was chained off.

Are you serious 5 burgers for 9.99? They must be a small and cheesy, Im here to tell you they are legit. we opted for the 5 cheeseburgers, They reminded me of childhood block parties where you would roll up on a neighbor's house and they would hand you a no frills delicious burger with the perfect amount of Mayo and relish. The staff are friendly and fast. IM sure this spot gets hella busy so be patient. Plenty of lot parking on a busy street. Ig you want a treat that won't break the bank make your way over to this spot.

I drive by this place all the time, finally decided to try it. The food was ok, nothing spectacular. For what I paid, it was a decent amount. However, the food made me sick. I got a burger, chili fries, corn dog and a root beer float. I shared the fries with my co workers. I took 2 bites and was not a fan. The corn dog was decent. I liked that it was crispy however it tasted like it had been fried in OLD oil. Burger was super bland and dry. I think I got sick from the burger. I didn't have enough fries or corn dog, and my co worker didn't get sick. The burger gave me a massive heart burn which resulted in me puking. The cashier was not very welcoming, she had this permanent stank face, when she repeated back the order, I couldn't even hear her. She rolled her eyes every time I asked her something. No smile, nothing. But I guess given the area it comes with the territory.

Almost $15 for a deluxe cheeseburger combo w/ shake upgrade. Fulfills the need for a McDonald's like burger, pretty good unremarkable 1/4 pound burger. Fries aren't perfectly crispy but still good, kind of like how in n out fries used to be. Shake was 11/10-I think they blended canned strawberries, giving it a great texture and flavor.

A delicious on frills cheese burgers rainy day. The service was friendly. Taste of nostalgia.

Bag of cheeseburgers, onion rings, and strawberry shakes!

This has become my go to place in san jose! The bag of cheeseburgers is only 14 bucks for 5, a nice. Helping of onion rings and the milkshakes are amazing. It's a walk up establishment with a few tables to enjoy your food so as far as ambiance, it depends on what is going on outside, but the service is quick and friendly . Definitely a place I'd recommend for a quick bite... not necessarily a place for romance dinners...lol

Burger bar wasn't anything special besides the length of time the place has been in SJ. The burgers in my opinion were not tasty at all but the milkshakes on the other hand were very delicious. The burger lacked flavor and was very dry. The burgers are also are inexpensive and would be great maybe after a late night coming home from the bar. I don't have a desire to go back but glad I got to try them.

Yeah I've been driving past this place for years thinking it was a ghetto, run down burger spot, but I was always intrigued by the mystical sign advertising "Burgers 5 for $9.99". One day, I finally tried it. Let's get into it. The low price is not false advertisement. The food here is actually all super cheap. You can get the advertised 5 for $9.99, or upgrade to cheeseburgers for 5 for 12.99. You can also get a bag of fries for a couple dollars, and other miscellaneous items for cheap. It kinda reminds me of mom & pop burger spots like Classic burgers of Los Gatos, or Happy Hound, but much cheaper. The quality of the food is admittedly not great, but it's not terrible either. I'd compare the burgers to McDonald's. They're about as big as a McDonald's cheeseburger (so not very big), but they taste a lot better. They remind me of a backyard cookout burger, the patty has a smoky grilled flavor to it, and they slather relish on it, which tastes pretty good imo. The fries here were trash, I wouldn't order them again. In regards to venue and ambiance, there's a small outdoor seating area with tables/benches with umbrellas. Parking is OK, just don't miss the turn! Looking back, Burger Bar sells really cheap burgers that are actually not that bad. It's cheaper than most fast food spots, and arguably better. Enough talk. This is their current location, but I don't think it's their permanent place of business. Just for the time being. Google maps will take you to a parking lot entrance that's closed, blocked by a chain, so make sure you enter the parking lot on Locust Street. I ordered online, and the wait time was a bit long (20+ minutes) but not terrible. And once you arrive, there's a sign near the parking lot directing you to walk down an alley-like path. No signs at the door, just a dumpster outside. Yup, that's where you pick up. It feels like you're walking through the back door of a restaurant kitchen. Actually when you step inside, it indeed IS the kitchen which doubles as a pickup spot (no seats, no signs, I just showed the guy my order on my phone and he handed me my food packed neatly in a paper bag). I got the perro loco which comes with fries on the side, and an arepa with cheese. I didn't like that customers can't customize items when ordering online for pick up. Also wasn't a fan of the pineapple sauce, though I think that's one of the things they're known for. But the hot dog was still good, generous with the toppings and certainly unique. The sausage was plump and juicy with a mild flavor. The fries were delicious as well, and didn't taste cheap. And the mini arepa with cheese was buttery and had a nice texture. Altogether it made for a filling meal.

There is a new food hall in San Jose and it's filled with a lot of new businesses. Colombian…read moreburgers? Yes please! You can order online or at the kiosk. The menu is extensive with a mix of options (including a vegetarian burger). I ordered El Apto which came with a beef patty, bacon, shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato...all between a brioche bun. This came with fries and a side of pineapple sauce and apto sauce. I dipped my fries in the apto sauce and it was so good! The pineapple sauce goes well in the burger and also on the fries. The beef patty was perfectly seasoned and so juicy. All the flavors were amazing and tasted so fresh. I loved the crispy bacon and the shredded chicken. The chicken was well flavored and they put an ample amount on top of the burger. Wow! What a great combo. I also tried the maracuya (passion fruit) drink and it was so good! I like that it wasn't too sweet. It's fresh and refreshing. They are pretty busy because it's their opening so there might be a wait but it's totally worth it. There are tables around for you to sit so it's casual. The owner is so nice and you can tell he is very proud of his food. Highly recommend!!

Flavor: 10/10 Hospitality: 10/10…read moreService: 10/10 Sixth Street Burger doesn't feel like a classic or typical smash burger joint. They are seemingly ordinary looking, in the heart of Downtown San Jose, but you are kindly greeted by staff at the front counter when you enter. They are patient and explain the menu items to you. And when your order comes, they have this knowingness, as though they let you in on a secret, "There you go. Do you want the spicy orange sauce?" Yas! The friendly personalities of the staff seem to be a standout. Go here to satisfy your wagyu smash burger hankerings. They are so flavorful and juicy, and well worth the visit! At grand opening, my husband and I were able to spark up a conversation with the owner. He had such a welcoming, amiable quality naming the other fellow smash burger joints in the area that he himself would recommend trying. It was then that we learned about his use of New School American Cheese, which they use for the burgers. This American cheese aspires to use premium quality ingredients that allow for a sexy melt that oozes on the smash burgers in an unprocessed sort of way. I find this to be a critical decision, and is one of the reasons why I continue to go here! But my review today really has to be for the Jumbo Ripper which I ordered with the tater tots. The hot dog is deep fried in beef tallow, creating a juicy snap to the hot dog. The tater tots had that excellent crunch factor. Dress both of them up either in ketchup or their Spicy "6" Sauce -- or both! Yeah! Just go here and try it! :D
