Can you feel nostalgia the first time you go somewhere? Maybe that's not the right word for it, but this place takes me back to a time before I was even born. Burger Boy screams 1970's and I feel groovy just going inside. The building is incredibly unique and the orange décor fits perfectly. Most people drive through, although you can also go inside and order-there are a few counter seats indoors or several picnic tables outside. It's definitely the fast food vibe and plan on getting some ketchup or mustard on your shirt for sure-it's that kind of place. The food and shakes are fantastic and the service is as quick as possible, given the never ending line of cars queued up for their burgers. I deducted a star for the bathroom. Well, they're right - this place does burgers and fries really fresh, in a quirky downtown location. There's currently (spring 2024) a lot of construction in the area, and the lot's been partially cordoned off. There is plenty of street parking behind the restaurant, however. About six seats inside, so it's primarily take-out. Burger was served hot and juicy. The Working Man special had perfect proportions of fixings: Lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions. Crinkle-cut fries were delish, too. Thumbs up, way up! This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. It was a burger kinda day ... the kids had never been, and I love for them to experience finer things that SA has to offer lol. We visited this location on the way to the Witte, and the kids enjoyed their Part Timers with cheese. I enjoyed a Working Man's (double) meal. You gotta love their crinkle cut fries...cut and fried just right, not too crispy, not soaked in oil, and piping warm. The burger was just right...warm and juicy, but not overdone. The Working Man was built with the right amount of fixings...lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and diced onions. The kids didn't even mind how their Part Timers were built. No problem for anybody to finish their meals. Not that I wanted, but my meal came with a large drink...I picked the Orange Freeze. It's like a Fanta slushee. It was too much for me, but I was able to share this large freeze with the kids. They enjoyed it, and their tongues were orange for awhile. Service was great. The crew at the Burger Boy on Josephine deserve gold medals for what i just saw about half an hour ago. Today is Saturday, July 26. The incident occurred about 1230pm. A woman came in with some sort of complaint that the order was wrong and that she wanted her money back. The manager said he could not return her money without a receipt. The woman was already being loud and then started shouting at the manager telling him to "stop talking" . This woman was being an ass plain and simple. it was clear to me and the other guests in the store that this woman was most likely lying because liars and cheats will often use a raised voice and claim they were wronged. The bigger the scene they make the bigger the lie. The lady did protest too much to be believable. But enough about her. She has to live with herself. I want to commend the crew who handled this person with total professionalism without breaking their work flow or service to other customers. NOT ONCE did the manager or the rest of the staff raise their voice or disrespect her in any way. Her belligerent words and posture were met with calmness and decorum. I just can't say enough good things about the whole crew. I wish i knew all their names but the one person who took the brunt of her abuse was a fine man i think is named Gallegos because of name spelled out on his right forearm. This is THE best burger spot hands down much less fast food burger spot in town. This location is right smack in the middle of the fun, right off of the St. Mary's strip, and one of the best spots to stop by or in to grab a burger, crinkle cut fries, and maybe a shake if you are up for it. Be sure to ask or check for signage on what the shake of the month is. They just had an Almond Joy-like shake in the Spring and it wow'd my socks off! Service is fast and swift and no frills. Be sure to be ready to give you order when you drive-up as you will definitely have a line of cars and people behind you. Burgers are seasoned so well and cooked to order so no frozen stuff here.
