Brooooooo... I don't know how it's taken me over 3 years of being in San Antonio to try Burger Boy, but damn. I had always heard good things about it, but I don't necessarily crave burgers often. But I will say.. this was definitely a craveable burger!!! It blew my expectations out of the water. They have a drive thru which is convenient and the service was friendly. The burger was perfect. It tasted so fresh and flavorful. Next time someone suggests a burger, I'm insisting we go here! I got crinkle fries too and didn't expect to like thing because I figured they'd be like In N Out or P Terry's (which I'm not a fan of), but their fries were so so good!! Clearly I'm a fan. I'm not one to crave a burger or suggest it as an option, but I won't say no if it's suggested. I'd seen these spots all over town and we talked about going after sitting outside surrounded by the delicious aroma while drinking wine the night before last. We didn't go after wine at Little Death. Instead, we ended up stopping in after a drive out to Blanco for whiskey and dessert. Dessert and drinks are 100 percent better before dinner. I had the burger with cheese and all the stuff it comes with-lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions, mustard- and fries. Apparently, I'm picky when it comes to fries. I don't think so; I just like them perfect. I have to say, these are pretty close to perfect, they were golden crinkle fries with just enough salt. They could have probably been fried another couple of minutes, but I'm not knocking them for this. All in all, it was a really tasty burger with great fries! 10/10. Curbside and drive thru for now. There is staff pre taking orders in two lines. However, there is little space to drive thru so be prepared to be out in the street waiting to get in line. I saw the long line as an indicator of awesome burgers ahead. I was disappointed. Pros: The lettuce and onions are diced small so they don't fall off or come out in one bite. The shakes are a huge saving grace ... if they still have thin mint, don't pass. The price was good. The fries were tasty. Cons: Too few fries as you can see in the pic. The bun dissolved before I finished the hamburger (argh!). The staff was ... indifferent! No smiling faces here. One note. The drive thru menu is so far ahead of the ordering line that you cannot see the options. I told the staff it was my first time here and asked about options ... Nestled betwixt two coffee places I visited that day (Eclipse and Shine), I went through Burger Boy's drive thru with my pup in tow to pick up lunch on the way back home. The drive thru line was pretty long, but an employee began taking orders down the line, which sped things up greatly. I ordered the Bates Special, with cheese/no onion. I also got a jr burger plain and dry so I can give the patty to my dog. The crinkle fries were GREAT. Thick cut, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. I ate them without ketchup. That's how much I enjoyed them. The burger was my favorite kind of fast food burger. You know when the patty is a little crispy around the edges? Yeah, like that. It reminded me of Stars in Brownsville, or when Whataburger was at their peak. The whole meal was delightfully classic. Burger Boy is one of those places that we will keep coming back to on a regular basis when we come to San Antonio. S.A. is a city that has some good burgers, the best of which is Fattboy by a mile, but other than that, nothing that puts all the others to shame. Fattboy is a different type of burger (bigger, more homemade, not fast-foody, and a little more expensive), whereas Burger Boy is the best of a category that would include things like 5 Guys and Shake Shack at the very bottom of the list. So this is this is definitely one of the better burgers in the area, and I liked it significantly better than P Terry's, which is a similar but inferior Austin chain and a local favourite just an hour north of here. So certainly I'm a big fan, and for sure you can expect to see me coming back here in future. And if Barbie looks even half as good as she did when I brought her here the first time, then all of the other patrons are in for a real treat, in terms of the yummy views as well as the yummy food. And if they got bought up by a fast food chain, they'd be Merger Boy. And if they were based in Pakistan, they'd be Urdu Boy. And if they were located in Minnesota, they'd be Brrrrrrrrrr-ger Boy. And if they were a kid in a high school Chemistry class, they'd be Bunsen Burner Boy. And if they drink their sodas too fast, they'll be Burper Boy. And if they haggle over their prices, they'll be Barter Boy. And if they can't believe it's not butter, they'll be I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Boy. And if they jump off a cliff on an elastic rope, they'll be Bungee Boy. And if they ride on the dodgems at the fair, they'll be Bumper Car Boy.
