Burger Chan was 5 stars all the way. I saw they did a Vietnamese coffee milkshake....yes please! Had them bring it out with my meal, very very good. My burger consisted of 3 two ounce patties with pepperjack cheese, a fried egg and charred jalapenos. This burger was tasty and juicy, had a hint of char on the edges...yum. As usual we sampled each others food. My wife got a five ounce burger patty with no bun with cheddar cheese, seared spam, sauteed onions and sliced avocado, very tasty. She added some fried cheese curds, they hit the ever widening spot, some of the best i've ever had. We will be back for more goodies. read more

Completely obsessed is an understatement - so amazing to find a burger establishment that seamlessly and deliciously incorporates Asian flavors. Very smart to have little clipboards on the wall forming the line for people to take their time assess and deliberate the choices. From all of the white-colored papers (beef burgers vs. fish, chicken, falafel, hot dog), seems like people still prefer a good 'ol burger. The most exciting addition to my burger was the sambal mayo and the rye bread. The customization options here allow you to really make something uniquely tailored to you specific tastes. Finally got to try this place which has been on my list for quite a while (the Galleria location is not ideal for me coming from the med center). Amazingly flavorful burger. The patty was cooked perfectly. I love all the customization options, especially the fried egg. The cashier, whom I believe is the co-owner, was super friendly and asked how I wanted the fried egg cooked - medium please! Spicy tator tots and sweet potato fries were also fantastic, even when eating 20 minutes later back home with my wife. We both agreed that we need to try them again fresh while dining in to see how amazing they must be when piping hot! Definitely will make the trip again. Now I know while people were raving about their burgers. It was awesome! When you first enter, you pick up a board to select what and how you like your burger. I selected the double patties (2 oz each), pepper Jack cheese, and all my favorite proteins... fried egg and spam! Hard to beat. When you get to the counter, the cashier looks over your order and read out to confirm. It was pretty efficient operation. Even though there was a line when i went in, it went quickly. For fried egg, you can choose how you like it... I asked for egg over easy... it was good but yolk started running all over the burger. Will do egg over medium next time. After paying, you get one of those pagers to let you know when your order is ready. You can order drinks or they have self service water on the side. Place was bright and clean inside. All eaters-sama welcomed :) Once you get to the counter with your order ready, the sweet staff reviews your choices and advises of any ingredients that weren't clearly noted on the menu. For example, they warned us that the sambal mayo sauce contains fermented shrimp. The scallion aioli was my favorite and I wish they sold it in jars to take home. For the sides, get the taro chips!! They're sliced Lay's classic thin, so crispy with a little kick. I took a couple orders home and it was just as good the next day. Late night munchies? Problem solved. I tend to be a picky eater and being able to fill out exactly what I wanted on my burger via paper was perfect! They got my order right the first time and our food came out so quick. This is such a good burger spot, I don't know how I slept on this for so long! Everything about this burger was perfection, the fries were good and the milkshake was amazing. Woah. DELICIOUS! That is the word. This place was spot on from the customer service from the girl at the register, to the speed of service and down to the perfect tasty burger. I would've had two if I could've fit it. I really want to try the fish next time. Indoor and a bunch of outdoor seating available. Came here at around 1pm on a Saturday, there's a long line. We noticed the line never dies down, which is a great sign but also be prepared to wait, don't come here starving or if you need a quick in and out ordering process. But I gotta say, it's worth the wait. One of the best burger places we've been, the meat is so juicy and flavorful, they offer a variety of different sauces you can choose to be served on the side or in your burger. Super happy I was finally able to try Burger Chan! Heard such amazing things about the place and it didn't disappoint. You have the option of creating your own burger just the way you want it, and add whatever sauces or veggies within it. It's kind of up to you on how your burger turns out, depending on what you add. But all of the options are so great I feel like that can't happen. I got the two 2 oz. smash patties in a brioche bun and picked which toppings and sauces I wanted. For my side I got the cheese curds and my husband got the curly fries. We really enjoyed our burgers!! They were delicious and all of the toppings had their own twist to them which made them delicious- sweet grilled onions, sweet pickles, pickled jalapeños- everything tasted soooo fresh and delicious!!! The cheese curds were really good and came with a side of marinara. They were a bit pricey for almost 8$ but the portion size was good. As for the service- the staff were so sweet and attentive. The employee at the register was so funny and helpful. She told us we made good choices, and reassured us we would love our food. She was super attentive and really let us know what would work and what doesn't. Really loved the vibe of the place and how clean, and quick the service was!! One of the easiest 5-star ratings I have given in a while - this place is so solid. I finally made the effort to come over lunch one day during work and was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to access and park given the area of town its located in. I had done some research before hand on the wide variety of options and knew I was going to do a burger for my first visit. I love the ability to totally customize your order via paper order form and pen, and when you go up to submit your order form and pay, they run through your order verbally to make sure everything is executed perfectly. I was also impressed with the cashier (I think one of the owners?) - she recognized people and remembered their names! Such an amazing touch. Now on to the main event - the food. I got my tots with their house spice seasoning, not too hot but just the right amount of heat to make them stand out from your normal tot. I went way too ambitious (my brain was bigger than my stomach) and did a triple 2oz burger - word of warning, I know the math of 6oz doesn't sound like too much, but it is, especially when paired with a side. Other than that, I kept it fairly simple with cheese, onion, lettuce, mayo, and ketchup on their super soft sweet sourdough bun. I wanted to follow-up on my earlier review as I was able to re-visit burger-chan last weekend. Burger-chan was already my favorite burger in Houston, but I am thrilled to promote it to five star status. I ordered a new very similar to my last meal, but I made some minor adjustments. Per the owner's recommendation, I went with the scallion aioli. Absolutely amazing paired with the sides, and I'm sure it would be amazing on the burger too. Definitely doubling up on that next time. The other change was adding cheese curds in place of fries. Cheese curds can be fussy and hard to find locally with a batter that's not distracting. Well, go figure, burger-chan has figured out a great ratio. They also pair them with a marinara sauce that was really nice to alternate with the aioli. Would love to see a location in the 610 loop! I had such a great experience here! Excellent service! I came here with a group of friends. I built my own burger. They have a bunch of clipboards with a slip of paper where you can check off what items you want and with the prices for certain add-ons. Personally, for me, the 8 oz. single patty was more than enough for me. But if you have a very big appetite, I would highly recommend getting more patties or more ounces. I like that this is Asian-fusion, so I was able to try out interesting stuff that you can't get at other burger places such as kimchi and scallion aioli sauce. The scallion aioli sauce is a MUST TRY. I also really liked their fries. An order is enough to share between 2 people, in my opinion! I didn't get to try their shakes but they had interesting flavored shakes like sesame and green tea. My friend and I share a love of burgers, so we've made it a personal mission of ours to try and regularly meet up and check out what our fine city has to offer. Our last meet up brought us to Burger-Chan with a few other of our foodie friends. I never made it to the Greenway Plaza location, so I was excited when they opened this location. Getting here was easy minus typical Galleria area traffic, but my GPS did bring me down Alabama the wrong way down a one way. Just keep that in mind. Parking was a little tight around lunchtime on the weekend. The line was at the door when I came in but it moved at a good pace. Customer service was great from start to finish. So here, you can create your own creation of either a burger, chicken, fish, falafel or hot dog. They have clip boards along the line and you choose how you want your sandwich. They also have chef inspired creations as well. I love me a smash style burger so I opted for two of their two oz patties. I like my burgers on the somewhat regular side when trying a place for the first time. Regular to me means, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and American cheese with sauces. I was bummed they didn't have American cheese because I believe it belongs on burgers. Just a suggestion if they read this review. I got mine with cheddar and felt a little extra that day and got bacon, charred jalapeños and scallion aioli (their most popular condiment). It took awhile to come out, but it was worth the wait. The burger was cooked perfect and the toppings all tasted fresh and worked well together. For some reason, it just didn't hold together too well and became a fork and knife meal towards the end. They have lots of side options but I went with the tots. She made sure I liked spice because they seasoned it with some sort of spicy seasoning that was delicious. Finally got to try Burger Chan...been wanting to try since they were in the greenway area. Parking is roomy at this location and appreciate they open on weekends I can take my family to come. I definitely appreciate the menu order forms where I can order at my own pace and all the options of adds on that comes with it. They are so thoughtful for parents with kids. The coloring page and sanitize coloring cups. I thought it was strange at first I got a chip from the cashier to redeemed my drink at another counter, but after people watching while waiting for my food, it makes sense. The cashier is focused on orders and keeps the line moving and the drink stations gets you hydrated. On to the food: I got a classic cheeseburger added onion string toppings and brioche bun was delicious. I like how my patty wasn't so think and a sear crisp. i got taro chips, have a nice kick seasoning. I reheated in my air fryer at home it was still yummy. My child enjoyed her creation over easy spam wich with her Curley fries. My friend got chilli cheese fries, only downside it may felt cheese ratio wasn't enough I guess bc cheese was not on top of the chili we usually see at other places , it's more like buried in between the chills but over all it's tasty. Stopped in on Saturday around 1. Filled out my sheet to order. Took about 10-15 minutes to make it to the front of the line. Took another 35-40 minutes to get our food. Line was long the entire time we were there. It was pretty noisy on the inside. The edges of the smash patties were burnt, flavor on the rest of the patties were ok. Pickles surprisingly very sweet, candy like. Tater tots had a nice crisp. Had the cheese sauce added on top. Should have got it on the side. Didn't like the sauce at all. I had heard about burger chan for years but never had a chance to stop by until I started working a few days a month in the area. And I will say although I'm surrounded by tons of food options here burger-chan is the one I end up getting most often and coming from someone who always wants to try something new, that says a lot. I've only ordered online for pickup vs dining in so I'm sure the food is even better hot and fresh. They have never gotten my order wrong and always have my food ready even before the estimated time. They also always perfectly wrap their burgers for a clean eating experience. I had to wait until I actually tried their regular burger before writing my review but I just couldn't stop getting their fried fish sandwich. I love it with the sweet sourdough and scallion aioli. I even put my reputation on the line once and ate this 15 min before a dentist appointment (who is my friend) and had him call me out on the scallion aioli breath. I finally had a regular burger craving and decided on the mushroom swiss and the spicy tater tots. Although 4oz doesn't sound like a big portion I always get full with their burgers and never end up finishing my side. The meat was perfectly seasoned and juicy. I also like their taro chips too. I know with covid they had staffing issues and reduced their hours to breakfast and lunch. Heard a lot of positive comments and thoughts about this place and I was finally able to try it--- in my estimation this visit was a little underwhelming but considering the amount of business this establishment has, My opinion is likely in the minority. This place was busy especially for a Saturday. There's seating outside and inside --outside seating is shady so it's a great options until the summer months. You place your order, as opposed to table service, and when your order is ready, they call you to pick up. They provide you a sheet of paper with a menu so you complete your order and provide it to them---this process works well albeit perhaps a little confusing in the first try. They have burger patties of 4 ounces but you can order 1,2,3,4 patties so you will not go hungry unless you elect to do so. There are standard fixings and special fixings--the special fixings come with a surcharge. Sides include fries , chips and onion rings and a few exotic choices. Sauce for your burger, should you elect one, likewise has some exotic choices. I think I need to try this place another time considering its popularity and perhaps more stars next time. read more

There was a yelp event there from 11-1p on 8/14/22, but sadly I missed it, by an hour. When I came that afternoon, they did provide a disclaimer it was about a 40 min wait time. No prob for me, I had time! When I placed my order, I saw it was pretty busy. I ordered my food to go. Drink- I ordered the Citra Time beer, and I waited for my food at there outside seating. Plenty of space. By that time , I could tell the crowd was clearing out. Beer was refreshing on this summer day. Food- I had originally ordered there 2oz but they said that's the kid size, most adults order the 5oz patty, so I changed my order (edited my previous post about size). I did the brioche bun. I only added the freebie add-on's to my burger, and scallion sauce on the side. With curly fries. Overall service was great. Burger was great nice flavor, really tasty, nice char. Would recommend! I have now visited burger chan twice and I can easily say that the burgers here are absolutely amazing. Must haves: 1. The burger. Duh! 2. Fried cheese curds 3. Tater tots 4. Scallion aioli I never got to go to the former burger-chan location but I am glad that I finally have time now to go to their rebranded burger-chan 2.0. My first time I ordered the burger with everything on it and it did not disappoint. I also added the sautéed onions and sautéed mushrooms. Got all the freebies sans the jalapeños because I have zero liking for them unless they are in a salsa and have been charred to an unrecognizable flavor. But I digress. The burger is absolutely juicy and even if you only get the basic 2 oz. patty, you will not be disappointed. I was so full because I had already finished my burger and also gotten the sweet potato fries, but somehow I still managed to finish the fried cheese curds and the tater tots. I highly recommend both of them. The fried cheese curds give me the feeling of going back in time and eating on something very nostalgic without really knowing the exact sensation that reminds me of a homey somatosensory sensation in the most joyful way. Meanwhile, the tater tots go best with the scallion aioli. It's not only got a nice lightly whipped texture but it's also packed with incredible scallion flavor that you get from the first bite until after you are done eating it. The after taste is what makes you want more of it! If you would rather like to shock your senses, I would recommend getting the taro chips. At first glance, they look like they are going to be just crispy and like any ordinary taro chips but after a bite into them your tongue will feel a rampage in your mouth. What I love about burger-chan is that the owners are willing to listen to constructive feedback and make the appropriate changes to their menu and service. During my various visits to their restaurant, I have not been disappointed with my food. Even if I did come across something too salty or sweet - team burgerchan is efficient to amend it immediately. I have had the following eats from them: -build your own burger : brioche bun with single patty, mayo, no tomato, Swiss cheese, and lettuce. Paired with tots or chips with a side of shrimp sauce (yum!). Patties are never dried out or over cooked. Also, love adding an over easy egg too; the gooey savoury flavour of the egg just brings it altogether. -Specials: their rotation of specials have been amazing. I still daydream about their roasted beets salad with rocket, falafel, goat cheese, pistachios (yes, pistachios) and balsamic vinaigrette! I loved it so much that I had even taken a weeks worth of salads to go from them. Their other special, the teriyaki chicken and beef skewers were bomb and not just slathered with lots of sauce. Balanced and paired with a garden salad that they incorporated hand cut flower carrots!!! Made me smile and enjoy it even more - the details matter! -Hot dogs: perfectly cooked, juicy, good bite (snap), and just yummy. No complaints. -Burger chan recently started their breakfast menu as well. Got the club sando, and brekkie platter. Loved that the sandwich's flavours weren't smothered by avocado. Went with untoasted and buttered potato bread so the roof of my mouth didn't get cut up. The medium egg has the jammy yolk to bind bacon, spam and tomatoes together very well. An elevated BLT-esque product. Will get it again. The breakfast platter came with two eggs (you can add another egg), and chose their in house made turkey sausage, brioche bun and side of tater tots. I enjoyed the buttered brioche bun with the easy eggs, but personally I will opt for spam or bacon because I usually don't like Turkey sausage but I don't regret trying it. If you are feeling spicy and can handle it - at your discretion, you can request the tater tots to be 'lightly' dusted with ghost chilli powder. Will be seeing them again soon! P.S. We're visiting Houston and saw the amazing reviews here and had to try it. Run by a couple, the place is serving up delicious burgers. Service is quick and friendly. Food: Double 2 ounce beef burgers. Got all the basic toppings which were all fresh. Also got the extra sambal sauce which has a unique fried shrimp aioli sauce. Love the smash 2 ounce, totally maximizes on that beef browning for flavor. Put two for double the flavor! Got it on the sourdough which was perfectly fluffy but holds up against the burger and toppings well. 5/5 Sweet potato fries that were spamchi'ed up. I feel like the sweet potato fries were just a tad underdone. The outside had a decent crispy but the inside was not quite done. The aioli, spam and kimchi add a nice layer of salty, meaty, spiciness. Overall not bad but the fries being undercooked did drag it down a bit. 3.5/5. Side salad - very fresh - lots of good cuts of cucumbers, tomatoes, thin onion slices, carrots that are cut like flowers and a delicious seasame vinaigrette. 5/5. Price: everything came to about 20$ which is a pretty good price for all the food you get. Definitely recommend this place! read more

First visit here. Large portions. There's a wait in Saturdays the sign gives a warning 15 people deep means 30 minutes. Very accurate. The line moves slowly but once your order is placed the food takes under 15 minutes. Shakes were fairly small for $6. But the burgers are huge and fries cooked to order are the best in town. read more

Checked out burger-chan while we are in town, and absolutely love how flavorful their burgers are! Got me a burger with lettuce as my buns, some perfectly crispy cheese curds, and a refreshingly super black sesame-y black sesame shake. I have to admit, I went fork and knife on this thing to minimize mess since this was a monster of a burger, even with only one patty! Kiddos were also well-satisfied with their cheeseburger and chicken nuggets, respectively, and they got to color while we waited. It definitely didn't hurt that they each got a chocolate chip cookie along with their kids meals to end on a sweet note. Great spot to bring kiddos! :) read more
